Help re connecting my itunes to ipod

My old computer crashes and we managed to save my itunes which is now set up on my new pc (software 7).
My ipod has all my tunes on but on older software i think.
Will I be able to connect my ipod to my new pc okay ?
Will I have to sync and do i need my ipod number to do that?
Do I have to restore first and will this not delete my songs on my ipod?
Can i sync without restoring ?
Help would be appreciated
thanks

If you managed to move all of your iTunes songs etc to your new pc then connect your iPod. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Erase and Sync" this will remove what's currently on there and load your rebuilt library.
If iTunes on your new PC is empty then connect your iPod and when you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using a lot of the utilities your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and it won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
iGadget Windows Only
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
PodUtil Mac and Windows Versions
iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
TuneJack Windows Only

Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again.

    Dear Brian:
Create a Play List in iTunes.
Control-Click and open "Export" in the highlighted Playlist in iTunes.
    With "Export" opened:
    1. Click on "Format" and choose "M3U";
    2. In "Save As" name your "WhatEverNamePlaylist.m3u"; and
    3. In "Where" tell the program where to send your "WhatEverNamePlaylist.m3u".
You are done creating the Playlist.m3u in iTunes.
    Open "Subsonic Web Page".
Left hand column open "Import playlist".
In "Import playlist" click "Choose File" and open the "WhatEverNamePlaylist.m3u"; you created in iTunes.
The "WhatEverNamePlaylist.m3u" should now occupy the space between "Choose File" and "OK".
    Click "OK".
The file should now be in the "Playlist" on the left.

  • When connected to iTunes, my iPod 6th generation shows all the songs and playlists in it but with exclamation points. When disconnected, it is empty.

    Hi there!
I bought an iPod touch 6th generation about a year ago and it was working perfectly until now. On Tuesday, I updated -manually- like six songs to my iPod and it appeared like it worked but when I disconnected it the songs weren't on my iPod. Since then I tried the same twice and it wasn't until today that I looked for the songs on the iPod while it was connected to iTunes. The songs were there, but they appeared as if the iPod was still trying to copy them, I deleted them and copy them again and it finally worked.
The problem was when I unplugged the iPod and open my music there... all my songs were missing except for those six ones I copy minutes before. I connected it back to iTunes and everything was right were it was supposed to be but my iPod still had the most recent songs. When I try to play the songs appearing on the iPod music on iTunes, an exclamation point appears beside them.
I read it is because it can't find where the music came from but I haven't found a way to let the iPod know the songs are still there. I would really appreciate your help because I don't want to lose my music and playlists.

The ! means the actual music files can't be found.
If the ! is in iTunes on the computer the redownload/reimport the songs.
    If on the iPod:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Manage Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • Update apple ID to connect to iTunes on iPod touch 5

How can I change/update my Apple ID on my iPod Touch? My iPod Touch asks for an Apple ID that I don't know.
Apple Help tells my how to update on my computer, but the ID does not synch to my iPod Touch.
I changed my Apple ID on my MacBook Pro to connect to iTunes, but the same Apple ID does not update to my iPod Touch (7.7.2). Therefore I can no longer download updates or aps to my iPod.

    - Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

  • Cannot connect to itunes store ipod touch via router

I am new to Ipod ownership and so far its been a good experience.
I have been searching on the web but not been able to find a solution to my problem.
The issue I have is that recently I cannot download apps from the app store via my home router. I can search the internet etc using it but when I click to install an app I get the message that says "Cannot connect to iTunes Store". I have tried to use a different wireless router (my mobile phone acting as a hotspot) and do not get the same message.
I assume therefore that there is some issue between the router (a netgear WGR614) and the ipod. The annoying thing is that I could do it earlier in the week.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

Two things to try.  Please reply with what works.
1: Turn on Airplane mode, then turn it off again.  This resets internet related settings.
    Does it work?
2:  Changing the DNS in Setting, Wi-Fi, DHCP tab, DNS , replace with 8.8.8.8 (Google) or 8.8.4.4 (Google)
    Does it work?

  • Cannot connect to itunes from ipod

I have an oldish ipod 8gb 1.1.5 and never really used it properly.  Now I want to and when I try to connect to itunes from it, I get the message 'cannot connect to itunes store'.  Thought it might be easier through my PC, but the PC doesn't even recognise the ipod.  Please help - I am not very computer literate either, so that probably doesn't help!

  • Need help with Connect to iTunes error.

My iPhone 3GS is stuck with the "Connect to iTunes" image. It will not go away.
It happened when I tried to get the IOS 6.0 update. I had the same issue with my iPad when I tried getting the update but at least my iTunes recognized my iPad after 2 or 3 days. I cannot wait that long to get my phone working again.
Right now, iTunes will not recognize my phone at all.
I have tried most of the troubleshooting tips i.e. I'm running the latest version of iTunes, I have restarted my laptop, I have done a few gard resets on my iPhone, power down, power up..etc..etc.
    I'm using a PC with windows 7.
Any help/suggestions will be much appreciated.
    Thanks is advance.

  • TS1368 Can't connect to iTunes with iPod... Why?

I'm trying to connect my iPod to iTunes, and it usually works. But recently it just says "cannot connect to iTunes store" every time I try to log in. So I'm not to sure what's wrong. I don't think it's the Internet, because I can log onto iTunes on the website. But not my iPod. So please, any advice?
