Help re: Flash Output File Structure

I need to create an easily clickable "Start Presentation" button for a client off a thumb drive/usb drive. I have outputted my DVD content as Flash and everything works as originally exported....however, my client is never going to know to click on the "index.html" file to begin the presentation.  Apparently if I try to move the index.html file outside of the same folder as the XML and SWF, the whole thing no longer works.  Does anyone have any tips on how to solve this problem?  Ideally, I would like the client to be able to click on the drive and see a Start Presentation button (an alias, an html file, etc) and a Files folder that contains everything else but I haven't been able to either successfully edit the index.html file, or create an alias for macs and shortcut for pcs and have them still work after sharing with another machine.
Please can anyone help?

I'll try to take a look at this later.
Not really an Encore question beyond confirming that you have to keep the index.html file in the folder with the other stuff.
But your problem is getting any page to open from the thumbdrive insertion/root.
Worst case: put a web page named "DoubleClick This To Access video.htm" which gives them a button to the index.htm page

  • Will the TOC structure get affected if output file structure is changed?

    I have used FlashHelp to generate output for a project hence the output folder has a structure, now while deploying on the server if I make changes in the output file/folder structure will this affect the "table of contents" or any other feature.
    Also, while deploying o/p files on the server what needs to be done so that the new customized skin(which i made using flash) appears for the help pages of my application as i will be calling the o/p htm files from my application directly using a script.
    I hope the explanation I posted is understandable.

    Hi kiki_04 and welcome to the RH community.
    The output files from your project can not be moved or renamed without breaking links throughout your project. Any changes to the folders or files MUST be performed inside your RoboHelp project. It is best to think of your output as a single file, even though it isn't. In other words, your output can be moved between locations in its entirety
    As for your new skin, this needs to be imported into your RoboHelp project and specified inside your FlashHelp single source layout.

  • Need help understanding Time Capsule file structure and how to get it back

    I have the original Time Capsule on which I backup both my Mac Pro and my wife’s Macbook. When Snow Leopard came out, I successfully used the ‘Restore from Time Machine’ feature on my Mac Pro so I know it has worked. However, my wife’s MacBook harddrive died the other day and I was trying to do the ‘Restore from Time Machine’ and all it would find was a backup from April (when I put her in a new larger drive). Time Machine would not find any backup files newer that April. She stated that she had seen the the Time Machine backup notices regularly and as recent as the day the haddrive died (Nov. 23) so I figured that I should have no problem. Here is what I have found in my trouble shooting and what leads to my questions below.
    This is the file structure I found: (note that our ID’s are ‘Denise’ and ‘John’)
    *Time Capsule* (the drive as listed in my Finder window sidebar under ‘shared’)
    >Folder called ‘Time Capsule’ (when logged in as either ‘Denise’ or ‘John’)
    >>Denise Sparsebundle
    >>>Backup of Denise’s iBook (mounted image)
    >>>>Folder called ‘Backups.backupdb’
    >>>>>Folder called ‘Denise’s iBook
    >>>>>>Single folder with old April backup (not the right files)
    >>John Sparsebundle
    >>>Backup of John’s Mac Pro (mounted image)
    >>>>Folder called ‘Backups.backupdb’
    >>>>>Folder called ‘John’s Mac Pro’
    >>>>>>Folders containing all my backup files
    >Folder Called ‘Denise’ (if logged as ‘Denise’)
    >>Denise’s Sparsebundle (a disk image)
    >>>Backup of Denise iBook (the mounted image. Name from old machine)
    >>>>Backups.Backupdb
    >>>>>Denise’s iBook (Contains the backup I need)
    >Folder Called ‘John’ (if logged in as ‘John’)
    >> (empty)
    For some reason, my wife’s backup files are stored within a folder located at the top level of the Time Capsule drive called ‘Denise’, however, mine are within a folder called ‘Time Capsule’ which is at the same level as the ‘Denise’ folder.
    For some reason, when trying to use Time Machine to recover, it bypasses the top level ‘Denise’ folder which contains the correct files and goes into the ‘Time Capsule’ folder and finds the outdated backup files.
    I would assume that both my backup files and my wife’s should be at the same level of the Time Capsule.
    I was eventually able to use Migration Assistant to recover the files after installing a fresh OS and mounting the correct Sparsebundle image.
    So, my question, how do I get this fixed so that if I have to recover a drive with Time Capsule, it will find the correct files.
    Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for any help.

    What I was trying to determine is why different backups for one particular machine are located at different file structure levels on my Time Capsule and why the most resent one for that machine is at a different level that for my other machine. well John, first can you clarify if you are on 10.4.8 as your profile suggests ? if so, i'm wondering how you can use TM at all because TM was introduced with Leo. if you're not on 10.4.8, please update your profile. if you could, please also indicate details of your machine such as available RAM, processor, etc.
    second, what OS is your wife's machine running ?
    third, i frankly don't know too much about TM's file structure or if there indeed is such a thing as the correct one. however, i do know that it is best to leave TM to do its thing (as long as it's working). FWIW, though off-topic, you may want to have a look at this read for further information.
    last but not least, i see TM backups to my TC only as a part of my backup strategy. the backbone of my strategy is to create bootable clone of my startup disk(s) using e.g. Carbon Copy Cloner on a regular basis. while TM is capable of doing a full system restore, i don't trust it as much as a working clone. i use TM to retrieve a file i accidentally trashed a week ago but you cannot boot from a TM backup if your startup disk goes belly up.
    If I have missed this information in either the FAQs or the Troubleshooting article, I would greatly appreciate being pointed to it .
    i expect you didn't miss anything and i'm sorry you didn't find any help there. perhaps if Pondini (author of the FAQ and troubleshooting user tips) reads this thread, you will get the necessary advice on the file structure and more besides.
    good luck to you !

  • How to link flash output files (mac based) to Amazon S3

    I have an Amazon S3 with cloud front set up. I also have a Wordpress site using Optimize Press. I want to link these two so my training programs are presented professionally and protected. I know how to link but here is the problem. When I open the link to the flash file once I upload the folder to Amazon I get an error for all of the flv video files. Text and voice segments run fine but video causes error message and doesnt load. Anyone know how to post these so it will work? Can it work?

    Actually its Captivate 5.5.
    1. I published using flash as choice.
    2. Created subfolder in S3 to host all the files
    3. Uploaded the files
    4. Currently setting up distribution in management counsole so I can connect to JW Player
    5. Just installed JW Player in my WP/OP site.
    6. Still working through rest of steps.....
    I wanted to see if the file would play before I went through all these steps so I double clicked on the flash file in the folder. Everything ran (albiet incorrect size of 640x480) except for my flv files. they show error. Im hoping all these steps Im going through will fix this. I will check out the link you provided thanks.

  • Open Hub Destination with Flat File - Structure file is not correct

    Using the new concept for Open Hub destination (NOT an InfoSpoke).
    Output is to a Flat File. Remember that when output is to a flat file 2 files are generated: the output file and a structure file (S_<name of output file>.CSV)
    The Output file structure corresponds to the structure defined in the Open Hub destination.
    However, the S_ (structure) file does not reflect the proper structure. The S_ file lists all fields sorted in alphabetical order based on the field name, instead of listing all fields in the correct order that they appear in the output file.
    I have not found any settings that I can modify for the S_ file. When using InfoSpokes the S_ file is correct and I do not have to do anything.
    The issue is that the S_ file cannot be used to describe the output file. This is a problem.
    Anyone knows a solution to this issue? The goal is to get the S_ file to reflect the proper structure.
    I could not find any Notes on this. Please do not send general help links, this is a specific question.
    Thank you all for your support.

    Hi,
    However, the S_ (structure) file does not reflect the proper structure. The S_ file lists all fields sorted in alphabetical order based on the field name, instead of listing all fields in the correct order that they appear in the output file.
    As I know and checked this is not the case. The S_ file has the fields in the order of infospoke object sequence ( and in transformation tab, source structure).
    I would suggest you to control it again.

  • Get MUTLIPLE output files for SINGLE input file with multiple records

    Hi ,
    I have source xml file  which has multiple records in it and  I want to get multiple seperate  flat files for it.
    this is my source structure
    <root>
    <Header1 fld1=1234 fld2="name1" fld3='SAP1"
    fld4='000" fld5=0 fld6="sdn1"></header>...............no line items here
    <Header2 fld1=123 fld2="name" fld3='SAP"
    fld4='00" fld5=0 fld6="sdn" ><line fld7=value1 fld8=value2 fld9=value3 /line><line fld7=value4 fld8=value5 fld9=value6 /line></header>.....two line items here
    <Header3 fld1=123 fld2="name" fld3='SAP"
    fld4='00" fld5=0 fld6="sdn" ><line fld7=value7 fld8=value8 fld9=value9 /line></header>......one line item here
    Header4 fld1=12345 fld2="name2" fld3='SAP2"
    fld4='0006" fld5=01 fld6="sdn2"</header>.......no line items here
    </root>
    I am trying to get flat files as many time the <b>header</b> values occur that many target files should appear in the target.
    like
    file1:
    1234name1SAP10000~sdn1
    file2:
    123nameSAp000~sdn
    value1value2valu3
    valu4value5value6
    file3:
    123namesap000~sdn
    value7valu8value9
    file4:
    12345name2SAP2000601~SDN2
    here I have 4 headers so i need to get 4 output files ,similarly for 'n' headers I need to get 'n'  output flat files. the above mentioned source xml file is just one file,like that I might get somany sourc xml files which has similar structure in it.
    and also it is important to get the line items,if exists to the header, for the corresponding headers.
    how can I achieve this?do I need to use BPM or any mappings other than Graphical?
    please suggest me.
    thank you.

  • Flash Help Output Files

    Hello again - I seem to be asking lots of basic questions to
    try to move along faster once I really get into the project
    writing. I've examined most help topics on this subject but am
    having difficulty getting results.
    I've been reading that output files and source files can
    easily be confused and to store the output files in a location
    other than the tool suggests. Is this a step I'd add when creating
    the project? I tried to rebuild one but didn't see where I'd
    separate the folders. I don't really know what output files I'm
    looking for, nor where I'd put them once I do find them. I'm a very
    basic user and will not be adding topics through import, nor
    manipulating the True Code if that makes a difference.
    In addition, my Publish option is greyed out when I attempt
    to select Publish no matter what layout option is chosen. I have
    generated the project in Flash. I have not defined the publishing
    destination since I can't open the Publish dialog. Let me know if
    this is enough information to respond.

    I apologize if I wasn't clear. The impression I got from
    Kathleen's initial post is that she's trying to keep the source
    files and output files separate so as not to get them confused with
    each other.
    As noted, I had to change my destination from the default
    (which was ".../<project folder>/!SSL!/FlashHelp") because
    our Web environment was choking on the exclamation points and
    wouldn't open the help. It works fine now that I have a directory
    without exclamation points for my output.
    I also generate to my hard drive (D: drive on my laptop), not
    to a Web destination. My suggestion is merely to specify your own
    path for the output if it suits your needs better. If I'm playing
    with fire, I haven't burned my fingers yet... :) My help gets moved
    to a server when the rest of our Web applications get deployed, so
    I don't use the step of publishing to a Web server myself.
    Kathleen, regarding your question where your source files are
    added: When you create a new project, the dialog asks you to pick a
    primary layout, then the next screen includes a field called "Enter
    the location for the project." That directory is where your source
    files are stored, including the .xpj project file that opens your
    project in RoboHelp. If you're opening your project by first
    opening RoboHelp and then selecting your project from the list of
    projects, one way you can find your project source files is by
    searching your hard drive for ".xpj" in the file name.
    Hope this is some help (and that I'm not creating more
    confusion than I'm eliminating...)!

  • Published Output Files-Flash

    Hi, would anyone know if a paper exists that would explain
    how the output files generated [Flash] display with the correct
    page in the web application or do I have to add map id's and work
    with the developer to create this feature. In other words do I add
    map id's in order for the user to view help for the page he is on
    and if I don't - will the user get the browser help and navigate to
    the help he needs. I haven't worked with this tool alot as you can
    tell.
    Thank you.

    Kathleen,
    Yes, map IDs are necessary for context-sensitive help to
    work. If you are looking for instructions for implementing the map
    IDs correctly, I found that having someone (a developer) who is
    familiar with JavaScript look at the explanation in RoboHelp's help
    system went a long way. (See the topic in RoboHelp's help entitled
    "Calling functions from Web pages.")
    All that is really needed for the context sensitivity to work
    in Web applications is two main things:
    1. In RoboHelp, assign a map ID to each of your help topics
    that corresponds to a Web page. (Use the Context-Sensitive Help
    folder in RoboHelp's left pane.)
    2. Have your developer(s) put the link to RoboHelp_CSH.js in
    the <head> of each Web page's HTML. The help link must also
    be coded with a little JavaScript, including the correct map ID for
    that page. "Calling functions from Web pages" gives an example.
    RoboHelp_CSH.js, which you can find in the directory where you
    installed RoboHelp (...RoboHelp 6.0\CSH API), must be copied to the
    appropriate place where this link can find it.
    The map ID part takes a little coordination between you and
    the developers, but that is really the only thing that should be
    different from Web page to Web page. The rest of the JavaScript
    should be the same on each page.
    If you decide not to work with context sensitivity and map
    IDs, the Help link can link to the ***.htm file that is named after
    your project, and the help will open to the file that you set as
    the default topic in the FlashHelp output dialog.
    Feel free to post again if you have questions about the
    details. I believe some of the experts in the forum have tutorials
    online if you don't find RoboHelp's help or this forum adequate in
    answering your questions. Good luck,
    Ben

  • Can you fix your help project (via coding) after importing a topic from an output file by mistake?

    Yes - I admit it - I imported html topic files from an output folder of another RH project into the help project I am currently working on (the source files were lost and I needed to bring over a lot of legacy content in a hurry). However, I completely forget that the RH output html file contains unique Java scripting that is used to render the topic properly in a browser, but that same Java Script causes havoc when you open it up in as a source file in another RH Project. Needless to say, it has caused numerous weird things when I went to publish and view my files (but, surprisingly, you don’t really see or notice them in the RH Design WYSIWYG view or preview mode).
    The bad news is that it took about 2 weeks for me to notice the issue (the help output is viewed on a special console running Linux with a QT browser that I only view occasionally). The good news is that is that I figured out what the problem was (that took some hours) and I can restore my help project back to a time before I did the "naughty deed".
    I am now at a crossroads - do I:
    Try to re-enter all of my content from the last two weeks? (Actually, to avoid repeating the same mistake twice, I will need to re-enter the text manually and NOT cut and paste from the RH output files!)
    Or locate and find the offending HTML coding in my topic files (if that is even possible)? Has anybody documented what the RH output file JavaScript code injects into your files, and what files they affect?

    OK - here is the documentation of this weird issue (hopefully, you can read the htlm code in the screen images):
    1. In this topic, I cut and pasted some text into the table you see at the bottom of the screen. I had to reapply the “TableBody” style to this text. After doing this, I moved my cursor to the “Keyboard" text on top. Notice that it is displaying the "TABLEBODY" style, although visually, it is displaying the correct style on screen (“Heading 1”).
    2.     In HTML view, notice the addition of the class= “TableBody”> code for this “Keyboard” text.
    3.   I then reselected Heading 1 for this “Keyboard” text.
    4.   Notice that the class= “TableBody”> code is now removed for this “Keyboard” text and has just the proper <h1> tagged assigned.

  • 1 input file to 2 output file mapping. Please help!

    Hi Experts,
      I have a snenario where from one input file I have to generate two output files. My sender and receiver systems are the same since I want to generate the output files in the same location. I am using both the systems same just for testing purpose.
    So in IR I have created
      1. one outbound interface for the input file
      2. two inbound interfaces for the output files
      3. one message mapping containing one input message
          transformation to two output messages.
      4. one interface mapping containing one input interface
          transformation to two output interfaces.
      In ID I have created
        1. one file sender channel and two receiver channels for two output files with different names.
        2. two receiver agreements
        3. one sender agreement
        4. one interface determination of type "Enhanced".
        5. one receiver determination
      But when I run the scenario given one valid input file  I am getting the error in the sxmb_moni : RuntimeException in Message-Mapping transformation: Cannot produce target element.
    However message mapping and interface mapping works perfectly if I test it in IR with the same input file.
    Can somebody help me understand what I might be doing wrong?
    Have I done the configuration correctly for 1:N mapping?
    Please help! I will be greatfull to you if you can help me.
    Thanks
    Gopal

    If my input file is like this:
       <ns1:LocationMsg_MT xmlns:ns1="http://www.abc.com/Gopal">
             <Location>
             </Location>
    </ns1:LocationMsg_MT >
    Then my scenario is working.
    But my input file will be like this:
    <LocationMsg_MT>
             <Location>
             </Location>
    <LocationMsg_MT >
    This is giving problem.
    How to handle this kind of file?
    Thanks
    Gopal

  • Context-sensitive help - where is the CS topic folder in the output files?

    I have created a FlashHelpPro help file in RoboHelp 7 HTML. In the project setup pane, I have Map ID'd my context-sensitive topics and linked them to their respective pages. I generated the project, but there is no folder containing the context-sensitive topics in the output files. As a result, the developer suggested that I need to create a separate folder in the Project Manager that contains all the context-sentitive topics. Is this actually the next step, or can the developer find what he needs elsewhere in the files?
    I haven't seen anything about creating a separate folder in the Project Manager, which seems redundant as there is the 'Context-sensitive Help' folder already present in the Project Set-up. Do I need to create a separate folder, as suggested by the developer? If not, where can he find the context-sensitive files in the output? Thank you.

    Hi,
    What do you mean that the context sensitive topics are not in the output? RoboHelp generates your output and (in WebHelp, so the same should count for FlashHelp) puts the context sensitivity in cshdat_webhelp.htm. Your developer doesn't need to worry about this, he just has to get his call right.
    For information on calling the help, see http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/calling_webhelp/calling_webhelp.htm. It's for WebHelp but it should be the same for FlashHelp.
    If your developer only wants to know which mapid's he has to call, you best give them your map files (the .h files).
    Greet,
    Willam
