Help re: Recovered Photo Albums

Hi there,
I have an album in my iPhoto library called recovered Photos. When I open it up it shows 50 jpgs but doesn't show the picture of what it is. When I click open, it won't open and it shows that I have images in there, but when I click to open it won't show anything except the image name at the top. I just don't want to delete this album in the case that I don't have it in another Album.
Any help would be appreciate please.
Tracey

  • Recovered Photos album automatically created, but no error messages.

Previously when I opened iPhoto, I received a message (or rather 2 {I believe} duplicate messages) about importing recovered photos. I clicked OK and it created a Recovered Photos album, but its contents were empty. I deleted this album by putting it into iPhoto's Trash. When I reopened iPhoto, I received the message again, but this time it created a "Recovered Photos 2" album.
I quit iPhoto and deleted the Import folder from my iPhoto Library. Now I don't get any messages, but the Recovered Photos (not Recovered Photos 2) album is still there. If I trash it and restart iPhoto, the it is automatically created again.
How can I stop iPhoto from automatically creating the Recovered Photos album? I'm not receiving any error messages or messages whatsoever.

Addendum to all about this question - I am trying to import my original CDs - hangs and does nothing at first track. Trashed the .plist, no help. Reinstalled fresh copy of iTunes - helped - FOR ONE DISK. After that, same problem.

  • Recovered Photos Album

I had a Recovered Photos album (in iPhoto 9.5.1) containing1,002 pics  probably created during a corrupted library rebuild.
I trashed these pics then discovered I shouldn't have.
I  selected all the pics in the Trash folder >Photos>Put Back  these pics and they again reside in an album called Recovered Photos and  all the metadata, location, and Faces info is present when I select a photo.
So I'm back where I started.  I want to move these photos out of the Recovered Photos album so won't have additional photos mixed with original group should another corrupt library rebuild occur.
What do I do to get these pics out of my the Recovered Photos album?
Can I selcted all>Events> Create new Event then delete them from the Recoverd Photos album?
Note: I am being especially anal about this process because this Recovered Photos album contains pics of my recently deceased mother and brother.  I have them backed up on an external drive but I want them also in my  working iPhoto Library so I can work with them.
Thank you for your time and attention.
    iMac 27", OSX 10.9.3

Its too slow and painful to individual put them back in the correct event. Is there a solution?
Or should i delete my whole library and re-import?
Restore from your back up? Other than that what's the least painful for you?

I'm pretty new to dreamweaver and am using a trial version at the moment but love it so far...
My problem is that every time i try to create a jpg photo gallary the and select the source and destination file folder, dreamweaver keeps giving me the error message that 'No images files found in image file folder'...
I know that there are plenty of images in the folder and have followed a few youtube instructional videos, but still cant seem to find out what this problem is.
The only element of testing that seemed to work is when i used a folder full of .gif files. the album created then, but used lots of little gif images...

  • Trouble with recovering Photos & Albums

Hiya, I've not long formatted my computer and when I plug my iPad in, it keeps saying that if I sync with my computer then it will erase everything... So I was wondering if there is a way that I can import and save all my Photos (& Albums). Hopefully someone can help me because the photos mean a lot!
    Thanks,
    Mark.

If the photos are in your Camera Roll then you can transfer them to your computer by connecting the iPad to your computer as a camera. Do not use iTunes.
Otherwise, use the Photo Transfer App from the App Store to move the photos to your computer. See here: http://phototransferapp.com

  • Recovered Photos Albums???

I started to imported  over 1400 pictures.  iPhoto stopped after 609.  It asked if I wanted to continue.  I said yes.  It started again.  It seem then to reload the same ones again.  So I started the import all over again.  Seemed to load all 1400 plus.  Now I have a Recovered Photos 3 album in my Albums Folder.  How do I know if these picture are in my Events.  Do I move this photos into the Event named as today's date???
Also every time I open iPhoto it says 15 photos are not loaded, do you want to load now.  I say yes.  Recovered Photos folder is then always empty.

Control (right)-click on one of the photos and select Show Event from the contextual menu.

  • HELP - Need help with recovering photos from iCloud

This may be a simple question, but I've never had to do it before, so I am asking.
I have an iPhone 4S.  It was backed up to iCloud yesterday before I had to swap my cracked screen phone for a new phone.  How do I recover photos that were backed up yesterday?  I am sure it is a couple easy steps, but can someone let me know what those might be to restore my phone from iCloud's backup yesterday?

Photos and videos from your camera roll are backed up to iCloud when you do an iCloud backup.
This article tells you how to restore an iCloud backup:

  • Help with recovering photos in LR3

I was backing up some photos from my LR folders, when I accidentally deleted some.
I downloaded a file recovery program and was able to recover the photos.  However, one of the particular group of photos, I'm having extreme difficulties with.  I can see their previews in LR, but when clicked on it the photo says "file is missing or corrupt" OR the photo changes to one from another session.  They had the same file name, was the older one somehow overwritten? Can I still recover those older photos?  I've tried everything I can think of and am reaching dead ends.  ANY help will be greatly appreciated.

Yea, it doesn't seem like the recovery programs were able to recover them.
No, I've tried them in other programs, and even sent the found files to other photographers, and they're having the same problems.

  • Help with Importing Photo Albums from Iphoto

I have created a bunch of albums in iphoto and wish to transfer them to my ipod. However, when i go to the photos tab of itunes when my ipod is plugged in and i try to select Sync from Iphoto it says that i have 0 photos in iphoto. i have tried selecting individual folders of photos to import and that works just fine, but i want to be able to select the albums that i already created in iphoto.
    thanks for your help

Apologies, you're right, it should be albumdata.xml.
Have a read of this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=778068&tstart=0
About 2/3'rds of the way down, DaveE has the following post:
    - View your albumdata.xml file in some text editor, like TextEdit.
    - Do a Find (cmd f) for "List of Keywords"
    - The XML under that looks kind of like this:
    <dict>
    <key>1</key>
    <string>Favorite</string>
    <key>6</key>
    <string>Birthday</string>
    <key>3</key>
    </dict>
You will probably have more keywords, this is just an example. But see the format - everything that has <something> ends with </something>.
When I had the problem, the example above looked like:
    <dict>
    <key>1</key>
    <string>Favorite <key>6</key>
    <string>Birthday</string>
    <key>3</key>
    </dict>
Notice the line return and </string> are missing for "Favorite". This happened to one of my keywords, and I don't know what caused it, but I deleted that keyword (and the one after it) from within iPhoto's preferences, and typed them in again.
The problem went away. Maybe some bogus character got into the keywords to make the XML go bad.
So try to use the method above to identify which keyword might have a problem, rather than go on a witch hunt and waste a lot of time. Of course, your problem could be different from mine entirely, but my iLife apps had the same problem you described.
Try it and see if it helps.

  • Please help me, recover photos from computer to new ipod

Ok, my daughter got her 4g 32gb ipod soaking wet, and it does not work anymore.  We got a replacement last night, and the old ipod had a bunch of photos on it that she needs for art class.  (We have a macbook pro for the synching).  We hooked up the new ipod, clicked restore from a backup, and not all of the photos are on the new ipod.  Also, none of her apps are there either.  I really want to recover the photos,  i have a feeling they are still on the macbook pro floating in limbo somewhere, does anybody know how to get the apps and photos from the old, dead ipod to the new one using the macbook?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance for reading my question.

The backup only contains photos directly imported to the iPod such as the taken with the camera, saved screen shots and email saved attachments.  Photo synced to the iPod are not in the backup.
It appears the the apps were not restored to the iPod since the apps themselves are synced to the iPod and not included in the backup.  App data is in the backup.  You can redownload apps at no addition cost by:
How to redownload purchased apps from the App Store
If yo tell us more about where the photos that do not appear came from we may be able to help your.

  • Can anyone help me recover photos I have deleted from my ipod (& laptop)?

Basically I am selling my laptop and so I thought I'd use the ipod as a means of storing my photos for future transfer to another laptop.
So I synched it all, all fine, then I deleted half the photos from my laptop (to get it ready to sell) and connected up the ipod again (for something else) and now I look and the ipod has synched and has also deleted those photos too!!
They didn't go to the recycle bin when I deleted them from my laptop (a warning message said they were too big so would be permenantly deleted) - has anybody got any ideas of how I can recover these lost files? Is there a way??
Thanks in advance if you can help....

You're going to need to some data recovery software as mentioned in this post.

Other than that, you're out of luck.

  • Missing catalog: help me recover Organizer albums/content

When a drive was replaced April 2014 on a Win7 computer, the old Adobe Elements Organizer 12.0.0.0 catalog went missing.
The default new one has been in use since for new projects. It has been Optimized and Repaired, no change.
I'm trying to find the old catalog for use.  Searched for *.TLY *.TLU *.BUC and catalog.*
    C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs\CONVERTED ELEMENTS 9\catalog_1.pse12db is 312MB.
Double-click or right-click/Open of this file does nothing.
    Help!
There is a .buc file from January 2014 on an external drive, but no .TLY or .TLU with it and "catalog restore" does not cope when browsed to it.
There is a .tly from March 2013 that is currently in the process of "restoring" to a new location, but that's missing more than a year of projects.
    Any help will be appreciated.

    Andaleeb,
Thanks for your reply.  I had asked earlier if it’s possible to retrieve it from a backup of Elements 7 program files.  I did not specifically do a backup of the catalog because at that time I didn’t know I had to in order to import it into the new Elements 11.  I had planned to just install 11 & move over the catalog then remove E7 from my computer.  Unfortunately things didn’t happen that way due to my computer having troubles. As was noted in an earlier thread.

  • IPhoto 6 Hangs When "Recovered Photos" Are Opened

iPhoto 6 "recovered" 300+ photos when I updated from iPhoto 5. I can still see the recovered photos in both my library and albums, but if I double-click on the photos, iPhoto 6 hangs with a spinning ball icon requiring a Force Quit to recover. I can open the photos in the "Recovered Photos" album, but I'm not sure how to get them back into my library and other albums. Has anyone been able to do this?
    Thanks, Will
    G5, 2 GHz, Dual Processors   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

When upgrading to iPhoto 6, the 'recovered photos' it finds are stored as follows:
a if you opt to import the photos when iPhoto asks, they are left where iPhoto found them (or lost them, depending on how you view it...) in the 'year' folder system, within the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder; e.g. 2005>12>15>photo.jpg, 2003>10>05>photo2.jpg etc. Within iPhoto itself the photos are grouped in one new roll, and an album is created in the Source list called "Recovered Photos".
b if you opt not to import the photos, they are moved from the 'year' folder system in the Finder into one folder within the iPhoto Library folder, entitled "Recovered Photos". The 'year' folders can be deleted, if they are still there - you should find that they are empty and they are not used by iPhoto 6.
In Case b you can move the "Recovered Photos" folder to anywhere you like, e.g the Desktop, as the photos are no longer associated with iPhoto. In fact, if you decide you need to import some or all of the photos back into iPhoto, you will have to move the RP folder to another location as iPhoto will disallow any import from within the iPhoto Library folder.
Take care either way; in my case I had 1014 recovered photos, which included all of the following:
a originals of some of my photos, the edited versions were still in iPhoto
b random duplicates of original photos
c photos, both original and edited versions, which I had deleted long ago - sometimes as long as 2-3 years, many versions of iPhoto ago!
When I have chance soon I intend to document my own personal recovery procedure / experience, in case it helps anyone else when upgrading. In the meantime, feel free to ask if you have any questions...
