HELP! recorded video file seems corrupted, need guidance

Last weekend i recorded a lengthy video file from my friend's birthday party. As it turns out, near the end of the party the recording errored out and the video file that it had been creating for hours became unreadable. We have tried many different avi file fixers on it but none have had any luck. I cannot play this file in any of my video applications, nor can i open it in an application such as Sony Vegas.
Is there any hope for recovering the footage in this avi file? It was recorded using the creative software provided with the Creative Live! Optia camera (this is the camera we used to record the footage).
Thanks for any help!

    Hey ErikSimon, I kept troubleshooting my problem last night and when I loaded my samples an alternate way, actually the longer way, it worked. I think I have gremlins in the system or something, but I got it working again. I was having the issue when I tried loading the samples via these instructions that were mentioned in SFLogicninja's Youtube video @ 3:07
    http://www.youtube.com/user/SFLogicNinja#p/u/8/7YjgKLZ2jpY
    They are good instructions, but the Logic gods weren't smiling on me last night. Really weird and frustrating at the same time. Thanks anyways.

  • QuckTimeX cannot seek within video files after corruption

    I have recently encountered a problem with playing a couple video files in QuickTimeX. Recently, the USB Hard Drive that contained the video files had a error, and the video files were corrupted. They were recovered using chkdsk utility on my windows laptop, as well as the other files that were corrupted, but under QuickTimeX the video files only load the first ~4 seconds of a 20-40 minute video.
    Video files that were corrupted are both .avi and .mkv type files, QuickTimeX plays using Perian plugin. I've tried these video files on another Mac, without success; however they work on my windows laptop.
    After looking around, I found MPlayerX and tried to play the video files, and they worked fine.
    This makes me believe there is something wrong with the way QuickTime reads the file or how it tries to index/seek within the video.
    I'm not sure where to go from here, and any information you could provide on what the exact problem might be and how to fix it would be much appreciated. If there is any more information you need I will gladly attempt to answer to the best of my ability.
    Thanks in advance,
    David.

    Can't really help you with a solution but can confirm that QT does look for a formal physical termination of content unlike Windows which is "stream" oriented, taking data and playing it as it may (or may not) access it. QT, on the other hand, either expects to immediately know where the termination is or, with some files like MPEG (MPEG2/MP2), will trace/load the entire file to get this information before even beginning playback. In most cases, improperly terminated files will not even open in QT applications. I suspect that whatever you did to recover the files on the Windows machine effectively turned the files into something QT apps see as a "segmented" file in which the first segment is seen as an independent, closed/properly terminated file. (I.e., as seen on many PC video web sites where PC users segment their files for sequential uploading as multiple files but which the QT browser software will only play the first segment properly.)

  • Mac Book Pro 13" LPTP-Photo Booth Recorded Video File won't find my video/movie that I recently recorded from Sun 9-1-13. Is there a way I can retrieve the files under the Time Machine or will I need to download something for iPhoto Booth?

    I have been having the most difficult times with the use of iPhoto Booth for recording movie files of church services. It seems if I make a rename on the files, for some odd reason, I cannot find it in any of my Files Folders in Finder. I need to know is there a more simple way to retrieve movie files thru iPhoto Booth or is there something I may can download to fix this issue? Also, is there a way the videos can be flipped around to not a mirror image, but to a reverse camera? Please anyone who recognizes this problem, contact me ASAP. Thank you for your support!

    You used the data.  Verizon can not see what it was sued for.  However your phone can see whats apps used the data.  go to settings-data usage- there will be a place that says data usage cycle.  line the dates up with your cycle.  then there will be a bar graph below that   extend bother white bars one all the way to the left and one all the way to the right.  after those are extended below that will be a list of apps,  there should be one that used over 2 gb and that will show you what app used that data in her purse

  • Please Help..one video file seemed to had ruined EVERYTHING

    I was downloading one episode of Survivor(I usually dont buy them unless i forget to tivo it,which I did this week)and while it was downloading I decided I'll watch what it downloaded so far,after doing so I just stopped it and let it download in its full
    when episode was fully done downloading I watch it and it had blurry and skipping parts and the sound and image wouldnt coordinate,I tried openning other files that I've bought in the past they also had that effect going on,any suggestions on how to repair it?it only screws up video files but the songs are still ok

    lv6662001,
    I would suggest starting with a restart of the computer. If you have done so already, my apologies for suggesting it.
    If that doesn't resolve the issue, I would recomend following the steps in this article:

  • Recorded FLV files contain corrupt timestamps

    Howdy -
    I'm running FMS 4.5.3 r2005 on standard AWS Linux box.  I'm recording the streams using NetStream.publish("appendWithGap") from a small custom Flash app running on IE+Windows.
    Usually, the generated .flv file is fine. However, I've found a number of cases where the .flv file generated was corrupt.  By using ffprobe -show_packets I'm able to see that the presentation timestamp (PTS) of sequential packets occasionally remain the same.  This happens for both audio and video at times. For example, consider the output of the command:
    $ ffprobe -show_packets saved.flv | egrep -e '(pts=|codec)'
    codec_type=video
    pts=0
    codec_type=video
    pts=0
    codec_type=video
    pts=0
    codec_type=video
    pts=0
    codec_type=video
    pts=0
    codec_type=video
    pts=0
    codec_type=video
    pts=3912
    codec_type=video
    pts=3944
    codec_type=video
    pts=3944
    codec_type=video
    pts=3944
    codec_type=video
    pts=3944
    codec_type=video
    pts=3944
    codec_type=video
    pts=3944
    codec_type=video
    pts=3944
    codec_type=video
    pts=3944
    I really don't know much about the internals of the FLV format, but I assume that invalid timestamps like these make for a non-playable (corrupt) video.
    Any idea what may cause FMS to record such a video?
    What kind of information would be helpful to debug this?
    Obviously, my client expects every video recorded to be one that an be played back, and so these corrupt videos are alarming to say the least.
    FYI, due to privacy restrictions I can't share the recorded video without a signed NDA.  If it would help, I can provide the entire output of ffprobe.
    Thanks,
    Ben

    Flvcheck has validated the format of file, and it is correct. The logs "Adding Silence message" indicates that audio message was expected and is not recieved after a particular time check, because of which video may appear stalled.
    Flvcheck may claim the file is valid, but event after running flvcheck -s the video is corrupt.  According to ffprobe, many of the timestamps are still the same. When I attempt to play the file in an flv player, the entire video is run through up front in sort of a fast-forward view, and then the audio plays out more or less normally.
    This makes sense, as the video player is probably playing all these frames with the same timestamp sequentially, which makes for the fast-forward effect.
    To debug this issue, a good starting point would be, validating the input to FMS. FMS records what is published to it.
    Does FMS tinker with the video frame timestamps, or are they just passed through to the file system?
    Since you are able to reproduce this issue, can you please enable livestream logging and check if input stream to FMS is different from what it is recording.
    Unfortunately I can't regularly reproduce it - though it does happen on a somewhat regular basis (it was happening a couple times a week).
    Is it safe to turn live stream logging on for a few days to see if I can catch this issue happening? Or, will live logging chew up resources and cause issues?
    Thanks for the assistance!

  • Help with video files

    Hi,
    I have an IPOD 60GP Video, and when I add videos to it they are sometimes hidden...
    I've found that if I tell iTunes that the video is a "TV Show" and I put it on the ipod, I can't see it.
    If I put that same video to "Movie" or "Music Video" then i can see it in the ipod display, and view it.
    Is there any way to be able to label it as a "TV Show" (I want to use this as misc. files) and still be able to view them on the ipod? It seems there should be since they only give you three options to classify a video as, and one is "TV Show"...
    Thanks

    No, sorry. The only video files that can (will) be listed as TV Shows are TV Shows bought directly through iTunes; one's that are labeled as a TV Show by default.
    Hope this helps.

  • I am having issues when I shoot raw + jpeg. Raw files seem corrupt!!

    I am having issues when I shoot raw + jpeg.  It seems the raw files get corrupted.  I have shot raw without an issue.  It is only when I shoot raw + jpeg.  The raw files will not show in Photoshop elements.  I installed the Canon software and was able to see all the raw files; however, I noticed that when I tried to view some full screen they would not show.  I also noticed that these raw files look block-ish.  They appear more digital looking.   Is there a specail card needed to shoot raw + jpeg?  I formatted the ones that I have prior to using them.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    While it could certainly be a card-reader problem, data corruption of any kind can be any of the following:
    1) the card
    2) the cable (if used)
    3) the card reader (if used)
    4) the computer RAM,
    5) thecomputer hard drive (or SSD)
    A failure of any one of the above will result in corrupted images when viewed.  Since it seems to be RAW file related, as they are signifantly larger than JPGs, it's likely anything but the card reader or cable.
    The only way to 'beat it' is eliminate each of the possibilities, starting with the easiest/cheapest fix.
    1) Use the cable.  If that solves the problem, replace the card reader.
    2) Use a different card.  If that solves it, toss the old card.
    3) If multiple sticks of internal computer RAM, swap them.  If that fixes it, or, the problem 'moves' to other images, replace the RAM.  It could be only 1 of 2 sticks bad, though, so use only 1 of the old sticks for a while to see if the problem recurs.
    4) If you have multiple hard drives in your computer, or an external one, use that to store the photos for a while.  If the problems go away, it's the drive.  Note that hard drive failures typically start slowly and increase gradually.  On occassion, though, your computer won't boot and it's all over.  If you are down to thinking it's the hard drive, it's time to get a good backup...NOW!
    For what it's worth, I had a similar problem with corrupted photos.  Both RAW and JPGs were affected.  But as the problems were after having loaded and initially viewed them on my HD, I knew it was a computer problem.  It dogged me for a couple of weeks.  I even played swap the memory sticks, pull one out and run on one only, swap the one for the other (running on one), and it STILL kept happening.  I finally gave up and replaced both sticks of RAM.  That solved the problem.  So much for lifetime warranty from Hong Kong.  A very well regarded brand of RAM, no less.  My SSD drive was the next one on the list, it the new RAM didn't solve it.

  • Adobe Captivate Help | Record video demonstrations

    This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/using/record-video-demonstrations.html

    Hi Nirupama,
    Before recording, choose the recording resolution as Youtube Widescreen HD and that should capture it in the right resolution.
    And while publishing the recorded CPVC project, choose the HD resolution or customize the publishing quality settings -- Choose High Profile, and Encode using Bitrate, use the Highest possible Bitrate value. You are free to customize any othe value as well.
    Thanks,

  • URGENT HELP: Which Redistributable Files do I need...

    I've build my app (MS Visual C++ 6.0) using Oracle Objects for OLE v3.9, which OO4O "Redistributable Files" do I need to install along with my app onto a users machine. Do I need to re-register theses dlls?
    Cheers

    If you cannot guarantee that your end users will have this release of Oracle Objects for OLE installed on their machine, you will need to redistribute specific files along with your OO4O application. The following redistributable files (all 32-bit) are part of Oracle Objects for OLE:
    7     oip8.dll
    7     oip8.tlb
    7     oraansi.dll
    These files should be installed in the oracle_base\oracle_home\bin directory.
    In addition, the oo4oparm.reg file has been provided to register OO4O configuration information. Please review this file and edit if necessary to reflect the correct oracle_home location on your machine. In order to register oip8.dll and enter the OO4O configuration information in oo4oparm.reg in the registry, please execute the following from a command prompt:
    drive:\path\> regsvr32.exe oip8.dll
    drive:\path\> oo4oparm.reg
    The message file oiplang.msb should also be provided and copied to the oracle_base\oracle_home\oo4o\mesg directory. The message file is specific to a language. For example, oipus.msb would be an English version and oipja.msb would be a Japanese version.
    You must also distribute the file(s) from the following list corresponding to the development software you used to build your application:
    7     oraclm32.dll (for Microsoft VC++)
    7     oradc.ocx
    Note that the Oracle Data Control (oradc.ocx) must be registered for it to function. For example, the OCX can be registered by executing the following at a command prompt:
    drive:\path\> regsvr32.exe oradc.ocx

  • Video files seem to become corrupted when I adjust speed

    Hello,
    I have started editing a new project, and am experiencing a familiar problem that I have encountered in the past, but which was never really resolved. I'm not very technical, so apologies if my description of the problem is simplstic.
    The problem is that after making certain edits in the Project window, I find that the entire project has some how become corrupted: i.e. every single clip becomes impossible to edit - I can't spool through the clips and view them in the screen by dragging my mouse cursor over them, and I can't even delete the clip whose edit seemed to result in the corruption.
    If I leave the project to go back to the project library, it is now impossible to re-enter the project. The words "edit project" in the button at the top left become grey. I find that the most common cause for this problem is whenever I attempt to adjust the speed of a clip, or reverse it. Is this a common problem with a simple solution?
    I have come up with a makeshift solution, which is far from satisfactory, but does sometimes help: I remove the file in the iMovie Events folder in Finder that contains the clips that I can no longer edit, and open up iMovie. The event library in iMovie will now be empty; I replace the events files back into the iMovie Events folder in Finder, then import a random clip into iMovie. The random clip is imported into a seprate event of its own, and the original file that I had put back into iMovie Events reappears simultaneously. Sometimes when I do this, the clips in the Project library are editable again, but not always.
    However, I would far rather that the programme simply processed my edits without corrupting the project. Is anyone familliar with this problem, and does anyone have a solution. Thank you very much in advance.

    There are several likely sources of corruption, and video card would be far down on my list of possible suspects.
    The transfer from camera card to hard disk is the most likely place for problem, either the card reader or USB cable can go bad. Another likely source of problems is the computer's hard disk is starting to fail. The camera card itself may be bad. And lastly, the memory in the computer may be malfunctioning.

  • Need Help Importing Video Files Into Premiere Pro 1.5

    Hello,
    I recently bought a JVC Everio with the built in hard drive so need for capturing anymore. Anyway, when I went to import the footage that I recorded on the camera, Premiere says "File Format Not Supported". When I dragged the clips off of the JVC's harddrive each clip had two files one type was a .MOI and the other type of clip said MOV and the clip number like MOV042 for clip number 42. Do I need some type of video converter to open these in Premiere? I can't even import them in Windows Movie Maker, they don't need to be great quality or anything just some music performance clips I wanted to throw on Youtube. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jason

    After my "learning session," I also thought of another resource for you. Besides the PE forum (in the old days, I know that they had a FAQ on the JVC files, but I do not think that it has been restored yet), you might want to post to the "Community" area, basically their fora, over at Muvipix. I know that there has been much discussion on the JVC files there, and believe that several forum members use those cameras. Might be some easy steps to convert your files so that PrPro can use them properly.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
    PS you do not need to subscribe to post/read. That is for the "premium" Functional Content and for some of the articles and tutorials that are not free.

  • Need help recording Video over pre-recorded Audio

    I'm making a music video, the audio has already been recorded, but I am having such a hard time trying to figure out how to record the video over it. I need to be able to hear the audio track while recording so I can sync it properly, but whenever I click on the 'Open Camera Import Window' button, it doesn't allow you to playback the audio. What is the easiest way I can go about this?
    PS. If my question is vague or unclear, I'm sorry. Every person I have asked said they had no clue what I was asking.

    Hi Rick,
    Thank you for your response.....I have always done this process using other software for the videos....so the process here is different for me.
    I pre record the audio first, then edit to remove all of the terrible sounds...breathing, mispoken words, etc...clean up the audio, then add a background music track all in Audacity.  Then, I add that track in and record my video over it.  I am creating a tutorial for a software company on how to use their software.
    This may seem backward.  My question now, I am in Captivate 7, I press video demo and it goes straight to recording the  video before I have a chance to import the audio track.  I need the audio track so I can get the video to follow the audio...if that makes sense.
    Cheers...Robert

  • HELP!! File system corrupted

    Hi,
    I got the filesystem on my LaCie Biggest Quadra 4 Tb external RAID disk suddenly corrupted and the system doesn't recognize the disk anymore, but the RAID controller does not complain about disk errors. Shortly, what happened:
    - the disk is my Time Maschine disk
    - I had a simulation code running over night writing output on that disk, too
    - the disk was nearly full (2 Gb free)
    - I found my code hanging and access to that disk rather slow, but I continued working without using that disk much
    - I did the 10.5.3 update and rebooted the machine
    - after boot the machine complained that the external disk is not recognized
    (BTW: I don't think the upgrade was the problem. I cannot see the disk even from my laptop which I didn't upgrade yet!)
    Disk utility does see the disk as a general volume, the original volume is not recognized. With disk utility I could only initialize the disk, so no chance to repair. "Data rescue" sees the volume with it's name, I haven't tried yet to see if it would recover files from that. So, now my question for the gurus over the net:
    - is there any other option to repair the filesystem, I don't think I have an issue with the disk itself, as the RAID controller should complain about that.
    - if the only option is to recover the files to a different disk, does it make a sense to recover the time machine file structure? That structure is overfilled with hard links that I don't believe will get recovered correctly. Is there a chance to make recovered or copied time machine backups work again on a different disk?
    - how could it come that the fs got corrupted such that the disk isn't recognized anymore as a HFS+ volume?
    Any help will be greatly appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Just in case someone else gets to this topic:
    I found out that the partition table got corrupted. No plan how that happened, the RAID seems ok. I was able to adjust that problem with a free program called testdisk (http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk). After that the volume mounted again. Disk utility found problems on the filesystem which I repaired. I have a 50 Gbyte image of my powerbook disk on that filesystem which mounts if I skip verification, but fails verification. So, the filesystem got really corrupted, but at least I could mount it again and save the possible.
