HELP RECOVER FILES

Hi I need help urgently. I was looking in the all photos file and going through and deleting the duplicates, i accidentally selected heaps of photos then went cmd+a then delete, so now I have all these images which include required graphics for programs in my trash. I know you can drag them but I have no idea where they belong is there any program or restore button like windows?

If you cut photos from an album, the photos will remain in your iPhoto library. If you cut photos from your iPhoto library, they are sent to your iPhoto trash. Are you possibly confusing the iPhoto trash and the trash can in your dock?

  • Need help recovering files form external drive!

Well, I made a stupid mistake this morning. I am used to the Windows style of copying where if you have folders with the same name and it asks if you want to overwrite the folder, it typically merges the contents.
Apparently in OSX, when you overwrite a folder, it removes the content from the previous folder and proceeds to copy the folder..
So I went to backup from my laptops drive to my external and I copied the folder and it asked about the overwrite and I said okay and instantly had the thought that it was a bad idea and stopped it after only two images and the drive works perfectly fine, just missing a lot of images.
So how can I recover these images? I haven't used the drive since to ensure that I didn't overwrite the files... What recover software do you recommend for OSX? Especially looking for a free solution.. I don't have $80 to plop down on a more conventional program. Also, are there programs that can place the images in the folders they came from? Would take a while to try and restore my folder structure as well...
I did try the program PhotoRec that is free and open-source but it searches the whole drive and can't focus only on deleted files with the HFS+ file structures, which means there will be TONS and TONS of images that it 'recovers' that are already just fine on the drive.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated! I 'lost' nearly the whole years pictures. But I know they are all still there.
Thank you, thank you, thank you...

There isn't a free solution for data recovery, and even the commercial solutions may not be able to recover all the files, since you had already started writing to the drive.
More importantly, you said you deleted files from your backup drive, right? So, if it's a backup, don't you still have copies of those files elsewhere? If you don't, you need to quit thinking of this drive as a backup, because it isn't a backup if it contains the only copies of the images on it.

  • Need help recovering files

Adobe Reader could not open 'f1065sk1.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
This is the error message I keep getting when I try to open a saved document from desktop files.  How do I recover this valuable content??They open from "Recent documents" but that is only a limited # of files.
    Mac 10.9.2

I downloaded the files from TurboTax, fill them out, and then saved them to the desktop.

  • Need Help Recovering file

I saved over a file I didn't want to save over. How do I recover it?

Time Machine is a way you can do backups of your files on a Macintosh. Everyone should be running some backup software. If you are, you retrieve an earlier backup and can retrieve the file.
If you have not been saving backup you've just learned why you should be saving backups. You're out of luck.

  • Help recovering files from an incomplete time machine backup.

I set up a network drive as a time machine backup for my mac and my wife's. As the initial backup was being created, her hard drive crashed!
Most of her drive had been backed up. After some reading I was able to repair the .sparsebundle file which contained the partial backup and mount it. Once mounted there is a .inprogress file which is the partial time machine backup. I can right click and choose "Show Package Contents". This lets me browse the folders backed up folders and see that most or all of her files are there, I have even opened a few office documents and saved a copy.
The problem is that if I try to move any of the files or folders I get Error code - 1426.
I'd rather not have to individually open each document and save as. Is there another way to recover the files? Does anyone know a way to explore the contents of a package in the command line?
    Thanks

try copying the files from terminal.
    use the following terminal command
    ditto --noacl path/to/sourcedirectory path/to/destinationdirectory
to get a path to a directory you can drag it to the terminal window.
make sure all the spaces in the above command are there.

  • HELP! How can i restore/recover files from Bootcamp with Boot Failure - Missing operating system error?

    Hi,
I am having a few problems with bootcamp on my imac. When i tried to move the bootcamp partition on windows 7 into free space, it crashed and turned off. Ever since i have had the error 'Missing operating system' and it fails to boot. I have some very important files on the bootcamp partition. Is it possible to recover these files or even to restore the bootcamp partition to it's original state? I do not have a backup of my bootcamp partition. Another problem i have is that ever since i tried to expand my macintosh HD partition into free space, when i hold alt while booting up (to choose which partition to boot like i normally do), the bootcamp partition has stopped appearing. This means that i cannot even boot the windows 7 bootcamp partition anymore!
So basically here are my 2 questions:
How can i restore/recover files from Bootcamp with Boot Failure - Missing operating system error?
How can i make the Bootcamp partition appear in Startup Disk and when i hold the option key while starting up my computer to allow me to boot windows 7?
Any solutions are very much apreciated!
    Thanks!
I know that bootcamp (disk0s4) hasn't been fully deleted since it appears in disk utility (i cant do anything to it though)
And here is the error i see when i try to launch bootcamp (back when i was actually able to boot up bootcamp to the error screen)

WinClone 3 is OS X and saves Windows image it makes for restore - that should work but you will have to try and you would need to make a new image unless it also works with a native Windows system restore image. It is now supported and has come a long way.

Paragon Clone OS works and does disk-to-disk clone just like CCC you end up with two bootable drives. But does not work with your setup. It would let you clone and move your Windows install to an SSD or another disk drive though and be bootable.
During its clone process it checks for errors which is very helpful and lets you know - something CCC and others should adopt more of.

I wish for our/my sake you had re-read and rewritten the long 'story' and broken it into a brief list of facts we needed.
    OS X
    Windows
Backup (though external is much safer) and you want bootable OS X clones as well as TimeMachine

There are a number of things to do like chkdsk and others as well as Windows DVD to do automatic system repairs and find out why.
AppleHFS - the abilty to mount and read HFS volumes can be notorious.
I would rearrange and redo your storage setup and how you use the 4-5 internal hard drive bays.

  • I lost a really important file (an iText Express document) randomly and then one day, a "recovered file" folder popped up and I assume it has to do with that, but the file just contains a doc with a bunch of coding. What do I do with that? HELP!!!

As the title question states, I lost a really important file with iText Express. I've been using iText Express for a year or two now because it's just the one application I downloaded for writing and saving documents. I was working on one for a few months and randomly one day last month, when I went to open it to resume editing my work, the file was gone! I searched my whole laptop and trash. Then one day, a "Recovered Files" folder popped up in the area my file used to be, so I assumed that was the file I lost being recovered and I felt relieved. But when I opened the folder, the document inside was a "SoftwareMap" document with a bunch of coding written in it. I don't understand what I'm supposed to do with that or how it's going to help me recover my file?!? I lost SO much work!!! If anyone has ANY idea what to do, how this happened, or if the coding is supposed to help me recover my file, PLEASE help!!!

No, I already tried looking at that. The file that recovered was not in the trash, it appeared in my documents folder. I opened it up and inside was an iText Express document with coding. Then inside of there, was and then and this "SoftwareMap" document contained a bunch of coding and symbols and words.

pages file document went missing after force quit. cant find it anywhere even after using recovering files softwares. HELP

    Hi,
just to say that while waiting for a help
I decided to go back from zero and moved to a second network (thanks i got some few computers available for my tests ) and this time i run in another trouble wich is the subject of a former post (with no reply...) <<HELP!! "Checksum failed" & "Integrity check on decrypted field failed ">>

Seems this always just leads us to problems...
Strange Sun Java Security Team just won't do anything to help us deploy quite easily on one of the most widely-spread platform ( despite we don't like them that much it's MS servers (2000 and 2003) )
Anyway if one could help... on one of the two issues Thanks

  • I recently found a folder in my trash that I never put in there labeled "recovered files" its full of xpku files. What are those? Can I delete them?! Help!

I'm nervous to delete them! I don't know if the system needs these files to run. Don't answer using "computery" words, I stink at computers, so just a yes or no answer will do. Can I delete these xpku files?

The Recovered Files folder contains temporary files that were used by applications and system processes, which were not properly released and discarded when the application was terminated. This can happen if a program unexpectedly quits, or more commonly if the system crashes in the middle of your work.

  • How do i Secure & recover file from shared folder

    Hi All,
I have Windows server 2008 R2 environment and one shared folder created on this with restricted permission by file sharing & security, now 1. I want to add one more restriction that owner of the folder should not able to delete that file? If this is
    not available with Microsoft then
    2. How do i recover file which deleted from MAP drive...
Please help me to resolve this issue...
    Kalpesh Chauhan

As to your first problem, I am not so familiar. But, as to the second problem, I think I can help.
In fact, I have ever also accidentally deleted my hard drive files. In order to re-access them, I have also posted my question in forums, just like you. Fortunately, after browsing many related answers and threads, I just know that a third
party data recovery program can be a good chance to go on.
So, I follow some instructions in these forums and select three drive recovery freeware to go on, including Recuva, iCare Data Recovery Free and TestDisk and so on.
Finally, I have restored all my needed data back successfully with these freeware.
So, I hope it will also help you out.
PS: Never forget to back up everything important on different hard drives or places in case of any similar data recovery problems in the future.

  • Odd recovered files in trash

Not sure if I should post this here or in the MBP forum...
On bootup a couple of days ago, I found another "recovered files" folder in the trash on my MBP; I usually look at the contents and simply empty the trash, but when I checked it this time, it had a strange sub folder "tempfolder aaa" which contains the following:
DPLib, IMLLib, MacromediaRuntime Lib, ProjLib (all shared libraries) and a folder "xtras" with:
Animated GIF Asset, Buddy API OSX Xtra, Font Asset PPC, Font Xtra PPC, TextAsset PPC, and TextXtra PPC (all Final Cut Express plugin files, version 9.0 Director MX).
I've since done a search on all of these, but can't find anything. The one thing they all seem to have in common is the "version 9.0 Director MX". I do have FCE installed, but have not used it at all. The only thing I did at the time these files apparently went into the trash was to uninstall my Epson printer because I purchased a new one. I uninstalled the same printer on my iMac and did not get any of these strange files in the trash.
I'm hesitant to empty the trash because they are all libraries and some are FCE plugins. The MBP seems to be working fine, but I haven't had a need to really use any application in the last few days.
Any helpful suggestions are much appreciated!

    Hi Barbara,
This from the Apple Help Viewer.
    *If Trash contains “Recovered Files”*
One or more Recovered Files folders may appear in your Trash after restarting your computer.
The recovered files are temporary files used by Mac OS X applications. Usually temporary files are deleted by an application when it no longer needs them. If an application quits unexpectedly, the temporary files may not be deleted by the application. When you restart your computer, Mac OS X moves these temporary files to the Trash.
You can retrieve useful files by dragging them out of the Trash. In most cases, however, the temporary files are not important and it is safe to empty your Trash. Check with the manufacturer of the application if you are not sure.

  • How can I recover files from an iPod Touch (4th gen) prior to a required restore?

How can I recover files from an iPod Touch (4th gen) prior to a required restore?
The iPod Touch was working perfectly fine.  iTunes suggest that I update the iPod Touch to the latest operating software, and I proceeded to do so.  Then a message popped up stating that the iPod Touch needs to be fully restored - and that all data will be lost.  The iPod Touch now displays the 'plug into iTunes' screen, and is stuck there.  There are irreplaceable family momentos on the iPod Touch.  How can I recover files from an iPod Touch prior to a required restore?  HELP...

Your only hope is to contact a data recovery company. When it shows the connect to iTunes screen the iPod is essentially deleted.
You can restore from an existing backup

  • How to recover files from a deleted partition?

Unfortunately, my OSX was not booting and I deleted my partition. Through the Internet Recovery mode I reinstalled the original OSX Mountain Lion it came with. I then upgraded to Maverick. I know that deleting a partition practically means all files are lost. I heard that files can be recovered on a Windows when a partition is deleted. Is there any way I can recover files from a partition that was deleted just a day ago?

    Hi,
Yes, it is possible to recover deleted partition or volume on Mac. Previously I was able to recover all my data lost due to accidental deletion of partition on my Mac PC by using recover Mac data software. This tool is really helpful, here you can download this tool.

  • Please Help!  Need thumbnails from Album SE imagewell cache to help recover from HD crash

    Hello,
I have 8 years of photos organized in Album SE. The external drive that I keep the photos on crashed in the middle of a backup operation. I lost around 1/2 of my photos. I was able to recover thousands of JPEGS from the drive with recovery software but they are simply generically named 00001.jpg, 00002,jpg, etc. through 11321.jpg and are devoid of any metadata. I have found image comparison software that can recognize duplicate images between hard drive directories (even with resizing or resolution differences). My only hope to recover my album is to somehow retrieve the thumbnails from the cache, save them by their original filenames, and then use the duplicate image finder along with some scripting to match, identify, and then rename the recovered files. I can then relink them to the album and be fully restored.
I have gotten as far as finding the tn.4.cache file, and can get to the metadata through MS Access; but of course I have no way of getting the thumbnails out of the cache without help.
These photos are from my toddler's first few years and I also lost many recent pictures of my 3-week old son. If anybody from Adobe or any users could provide any assistance I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance for any assistance,
    Bill Starrs

Jim, thanks for the information. The images that I have recovered are at 1200x1600, there are just way too many of them to sort through and they have lost their original names and metadata in recovery. My objective is to identify and rename them using a comparison tool so they are organized again; if not I have to visually sort through 11 thousand images to find the one I want.
I have been using the image comparison software to try to eliminate duplicate images from my recovery. It has proven successful at matching up 1200x1600 originals with 56x75 thumbnail files of the same images.
Yes, if I screen capture, crop, and save each missing image I can rebuild my collection either as 300x400 images or link them back through comparison to 1200x1600, but there are thousands of these. I can't capture, crop, save, and rename thousands of files. The frustrating thing is that work is already done for me in the image cache. Are there no Adobe people browsing these groups that could cut me some slack?
    Thanks,
    Bill

  • My disk0s2 cannot be repaired.  Is there a way to recover files on my computer?

My computer had a spinning wheel yesterday that would not go away, so I forced a shutdown (had done it before with no problems).  However, now my computer goes straight to the diagnostic tool, and when I try to repair disk0s2, it cannot be repaired.  I didn't have Time Machine automatically running, and my most recent backup is too old and I don't want to lose all of our pictures.   I'm desperate here - is there any other way to recover files off of this disk?
My MacBook pro is only 2 years old so this came as a surprise.  I've scheduled an appointment at the Apple Store but I'm seeing if there is anything I can do to help now...
    -Drew

Try using a data recovery product such as the ones listed here. Don't write anything else to the drive until the files are recovered or you choose not to recover them.
