Help Recover Photos in iPhoto6

While working in iphoto 6, my computer was accidently turned off resulting in iphoto crash. My photos are no longer accessable in iphoto, however, thumbs and albums are fine. I found all of the missing photos, about 15,000, in a file called "Recovered Photos" within the pictures folder. How do I reinstall and marry up the photos with the thumbs in the iphoto library? I need help......

    Hi,
In order to recover the tags/albums, etc, you need to have the catalog db. Since currently you only have images, the organization done in the older catalog is probably lost.
Which version of PSE you have and is there any chance, that you have access to catalog location (default is : %programdata%\adobe\elements organizer\catalogs on Windows and ~/library/app support/adobe/organizer/catalogs on MAC) ?

  • I need help recovering photos even if it's just the preview!??  Anyone with a solution?

I imported the photos from my camera directly into LR and saved to a folder on my desktop.  Later when I came back to work on them they were available in preview but with the "?" symbol.  I eventually found the file, named differently in my trash bin!  I began celebrating too soon, because after I drug the images back to the empty folder on my desktop they disappeared AGAIN when I tried to re-import them into LR.  Only this time they aren't in the trash OR on my desktop!!  They simply disappeared and the only way I can see them is on the preview.
Please, please help!  My clients have left the island and I cannot re-shoot.

there was a "glitch" when I tried to import them the second time and they disappeared.  I actually watched the images appear and then the folder showed as empty again.
I had something similar happen one time - couldn't believe my eyes, shortly after restarting, photo being viewed simply disappeared from view, and from catalog... (my hands weren't even near the keyboard, so hard to imagine it being operator error). In my case, it was in recycle bin, so no big deal to re-import (I did lose all edit history, and some edits).
Anyway, if you want to report a bug, do so here:

And recover previews as last resort...

iCloud doesn't store your photos unless you back up your camera roll to it.

  • Help re: Recovered Photo Albums

    Hi there,
I have an album in my iPhoto library called recovered Photos. When I open it up it shows 50 jpgs but doesn't show the picture of what it is. When I click open, it won't open and it shows that I have images in there, but when I click to open it won't show anything except the image name at the top. I just don't want to delete this album in the case that I don't have it in another Album.
Any help would be appreciate please.

  • Can I recover photos on iPhone 4S not backed up on iCloud or computer when connect to iTunes error shows up on screen. Was trying to update now it must go to restore.HELP!

Can I recover photos on iPhone 4S not backed up on iCloud or computer when connect to iTunes error shows up on screen? My son was trying to update now it must go to restore. HELP!

If there is no backup of the device to iCloud or iTunes and the device has gone into recovery mode when trying to update, then the data is gone. If the device was connected to iTunes to do the update originally, it is possible the default backup was done, unless your son disabled it. To check to see if there is a backup, go in iTunes, click on Edit, Preferences, Devices and see if there is a backup listed for the date/time before the update was started. If he was doing the update OTA on the phone, then there is no backup. No backup, no photos.

  • Restoring recovered photos! Please help.

I recovered 517 photos from which I deleted months ago, and now they're back in my library however I cannot view them. The recovered photos are black... Is there any way to be able to restore the photos so I can actually see them?
PS: I already did the thing where you press option and command and then open iphoto and click restore/rebuild. That didn't work.

Hi people. I see you're all not in the US, UK, France or Germany? Are you using unlocked phones by any chance? Restoring the firmware to 1.1.3 will lock your iPhones.
Try this if you are facing the error (1) or error (6) while downgrading the firmware. In this situation, you need to put your iPhone in DFU mode, than restore or downgrade the firmware. Here is the easy way to do so:
Step 1. Turn off your iPhone.
Step 2. Hold Power and Home button until the Apple logo appears; the iPhone should now be reboot.
Step 3. When you see the Apple logo, release the power button but HOLD the home button.
Step 4. Open iTunes and wait for it to tell you in restore mode.
An alternative method if the above does not work for you.
Step 1. Connect iphone to USB then listen to the sound when it connect and disconnect.
Step 2. Hold 2 buttons until hear disconnect sound then release power button.
Step 3. Wait until hear another sound then release home button.

  • HELP - Need help with recovering photos from iCloud

This may be a simple question, but I've never had to do it before, so I am asking.
I have an iPhone 4S.  It was backed up to iCloud yesterday before I had to swap my cracked screen phone for a new phone.  How do I recover photos that were backed up yesterday?  I am sure it is a couple easy steps, but can someone let me know what those might be to restore my phone from iCloud's backup yesterday?

Photos and videos from your camera roll are backed up to iCloud when you do an iCloud backup.

  • How can I recover photos from old iphone icloud backup to new one?

Hello, I had an iPhone 4 which I lost and inside there were some great photos that I want now to recover. In the meanwhile I bought an iPhone5S and I just realized that inside the iCloud backup menu is saying that there is a backup of 3GB of my old iPhone. How can I see if in that backup the photos are there? I have connected my iPhoto App to iCloud but it only finds photos from my new iPhone and not the old one...
    Thanks for your time.

Hi, Tiago, maybe you can get help from data recovery software. Now things get easy now.
As far as I know, there are three ways to recover deleted contacts and photos from iPhone 5 with iPhone Data Recovery.
Way 1: Recover deleted photos from iPhone directly
Way 2: Using iTunes Backup to recover deleted photos
Way 3: Using iCloud Backup to recover deleted photos
You can refer the way 3 of how to recover deleted photos from iPhone to recover photos from  old iPhone iCloud backup.
    Good luck to you.

  • How to restore settings in IMovie08. How to delete Recovered Photos in Tras

*Problem 1*: How to restore settings to I Movie 08.
Context - Closing I Movie was invited to change from original to new settings. Accepted new setting, the result a disastrous loss of image in both photos and video of an edition. Chromatized. More info on I Movie 08 thread.
*Problem 2*: Hundreds of photos in IPhoto Recovered Photo files in Trash. I am wanting to delete the files without having to unlock each individual photo. Possible to do? If so, how?
P.S. No New Topic option operating on IPhoto Forum.
Thanks for any help. First is urgent because it is a Birthday present.

    Hello,
I'm not certain if this will help the iMovie problem...
Restoring a video clip or photo to its original state
Select the video frames or photo that you want to restore.
Click the Video Adjustments or Audio Adjustments button to open the Video Adjustments or Audio Adjustments window.
    Video Adjustments button
    Audio Adjustments button
In the Adjustments window, click “Revert to Original.”

  • How to recover photos after restoring iPod touch?

Yesterday, there was an update for the iOS 6, I believe. When I pressed the update button, a message popped up saying that there was a problem with my iPod touch 4G and that I need to restore it. I had absolutely no idea why that message would pop up in the first place because my iPod was working just fine. But I couldn't update my iPod to the newest version if I didn't do what iTunes says... so I was about to restore my iPod, but then I was worried that all of my photos would disappear. So I decided to update my iOS later so that I could transfer all my files on to my computer. I then unplugged my iPod, and tried to turn it on but the home screen wouldn't pop - no matter what I did, all the screen showed was an itunes icon on top with a USB plug-in cord at the bottom. So I had no choice but to restore my iPod. The thing is, once I restored my iPod and all, my photos were all gone and I did not use iCloud as a back-up since a few months ago. All of my recent photos are now gone and I have no idea how to recover them. I've tried programs that aim to recover deleted photos, but they didn't work.
Is there a way to recover photos after restoring the iPod Touch?

    Hello,
It is very important to backup your device to the computer before updating or restoring.
You can restore your device to a previous backup, all the photos that were there when you made the backup should return with it, but I'm afraid that any photos taken or saved after the last backup are unrecoverable.
    I hope this helps.

  • TIP: What to do if the Recovered Photos File will not import into iPhoto...

Like many others in this forum, I just upgraded to iWork/iLife '06. When I installed iPhoto '06 it trashed my existing iPhoto Folder and placed all of my other existing photos (those not already imported previously into iPhoto) into a recovered photos file. I tried and tried and tried to import those "recovered photos" into iPhoto but it kept returning an error message on import "Unreadable file"
Finally I selected the "recovered files" then clicked on "Get Info" and found that the permissions were "locked" with a padlock icon. Clicking once on the padlock opened the permissions back to me the "owner" and the iPhoto allowed me to import all of those 425 "recovered photos". Whew! I hope this tip helps someone else out - I had to figure this out on my own...

The fact that you can use the Raws from your XSi is of no relevance.
The Raw from every model of camera is different. Note: that's every model not every brand. So, the NEF produced by a Nikon D40 is not the same as the NEF produced by a D60, the CR2 produced by a Canon 350 is not the same as the CR2 produced by a Canon 400.
Changing the Raw specification is one of the ways of upgrading the cameras.
IPhoto and Aperture support -  or don't -  the same cameras.

  • Is there a way to recover photos that have disappeared during download?

Yesterday on iPhoto, I watched the download of over 800 shots from my Nikon d5100.  I had some great shots of baby deer, vultures sunning themselves and osprey fishing.  After it finished, as usual I clicked 'delete photos' (I now know to never do that again).  After waiting a long time it was still 'finishing import', but seemed frozen with the 'spinning wheel of death' on my computer screen. I force quit iPhoto, turned off & unplugged my camera.  2nd try same thing, but it then said importing about 500 photos. At the end it froze again, so I repeated my force quit. Third try it said importing 142 photos and actually finished the import. Usually it will say 'found xxx photos that need to finish importing’ & that's when the rest of my images usually show up but not this time. Only 13 photos showed up.
I've searched my back ups, tried ‘rebuilding’ my small thumbnails, library database & ‘recover orphaned photos’; after chasing down google searches on recovering photos and reading everything I could find here that sounded similar. I keep thinking they must be on my computer somewhere because I went from 32gb available to 10gb. That usually happens with 1k photos, not 150.
    Mac osX version 10.9.3 Maverick
    iPhoto ’08 version 7.1.5 (378)
    Thanks for any help offered!

Not technically inclined it took me an hour to post this question and it still says Leopard, Mac osx 10.5.4 under my thanks. I have Maverick now, but couldn't find how to change that, sorry!!

  • Problem with reoccurring same recovered photos

    Hello,
I'm having the same reoccurring problem every time I activate iPhoto. I get a message window that says "82 photos have been found in the iPhoto Library that were not imported, and would you like to import them?"
These photos are in the Library and in iPhoto. If I select yes then I get a message that says something to the extent they can't be imported because of a non readable problem. If I select no, then a folder and the photos are developed in the picture files titled recovered photos in Finder/Pictures....this happens every time I start iPhoto. How do I get rid of this reoccurring problem that is starting to bother me. Every time I delete the recovered folder it's recovered again when I start iPhoto
Thanks for any assistance or input you may have, or please direct me to an area where I might be able to find a fix.
    Bill

    Hi Larry,
Thank you for the welcome and your instructions worked perfectly and I am now a happy camper once again without multiple "recovered" photo folders. I have been reading other posts looking for a potential same problem while waiting for a response. Many of the other posts were referring to a iPhoto Folder within the "Picture" folder. Well, all I could find was a iPhoto Library icon and no folder ( I was able to find the the right click "show contents") prior to your corrective post but stopped right there in concern of making things worse. So as soon as I read your reply it made perfect directional sense to me.
I suppose now would be the time to back that Pictures Folder up again (fresh) although I do
have have it backed up on Time Machine and have also copied it to a Flash Drive in fear of losing all the family photo's and what the Boss Lady would do to me
Thank you again LN, you've been a great help!

  • Recovered photos?

    Hello everyone,
I have a folder, in my iPhoto library called "Recovered photos". That brings 3 questions to me.
    1-Why do I have that?
2-Why do the pictures in this folder dont show in the previews? (as if they were not recognized by iphoto)
3-How do I get these pictures back in the regular iphoto folders so that iphoto finds it's way to them again?
    Thanks for your help
    JP

    jpalbouy
    1-Why do I have that?
Because they are photos that - for some reason - iPhoto doesn't know what to do with.
2-Why do the pictures in this folder dont show in the previews? (as if they were not recognized by iphoto)
That's because they are not recognised by iPhoto.
3-How do I get these pictures back in the regular iphoto folders so that iphoto finds it's way to them again?
Move the Recovered Photos folder to the Desktop, then drag and drop them into the iPhoto Window.
