Apple Preview, creating multiple page PDFs

I often need to create multiple page PDF documents by using either existing images or by using a scanner. Is there an easy way to so simply choose multiple files in the finder and right-click "Create PDF from files"?
We have:
- Compress 2 items
- Rename 2 items
- Burn 2 items to disc

I also noticed that the cover page mostly is full size and the sup pages of the created PDF document contains a white border. Is this the printer margin that is automatically assigned to the sub pages?

Yes, and another automator for opening the sidebar automatically if a PDF contains at least 2 pages.

Creating multiple page templates!

I'm trying to create multiple page styles as one template to work in the same way as the Apple supplied templates.
I can create all my page styles as one Pages document and save as a template but the finished template doesn't work in the same way as the Apple templates do e.g. I can not insert pages to a document created from my template. I can only insert sections. When inserting a new section I only have a choice of adding a blank or a text page and not choose one of my created page styles.
I think I'm missing something quite fundemental! I know it can be done because I've downloaded a template from the iCommunity exchange and that worked perfectly.
Any ideas folks?

Before saving your template, you need to "capture" all of the pages that you want to have available to insert.
Format > Advanced > Capture Pages...

After this tutorial no 10 my background image didn't change for the rest 3 pages. It stayed the same even though I made a new css rule as shown. I picked tag, this document only, and body as a selector name. Changed the bckgrpund color to black, and than changed the picture as well. I clearly see the new "body" css rule that is above my Paolo css rule in the side bar, but no changes on the pages, I still got the same bckground image for all of them.
Any ideas? Anybody with a similar problem?

How can I create multiple pages, with different layouts to the others, in DW fluid grid layouts?

I am creating a website using FGL in DW CS6, v12.0 build 5808. I do not have Creative Cloud (do you have to pay to use this service?).
I have created one layout for my home page.
I would like to create several more pages, but I want them to use different layouts (as well as different content).
I tried to do something similar before using 'save as' (this was with a non-FGL), but whenever I changed the original page that I had 'save as'd' from, the layout in all the other pages would change too!

I'm a bit scared of breaking everything, as I am new to web design and have had to restart the whole process a few times due to messing up the fluid.css etc and other issues, so I am taking baby steps.
Happy to try whatever's suggested and, while I wait for (I hope) your responses, I think I will try the template thing, but from the reply the person who asked the question gave, it sounds like his subsequent pages changed too, as I mentioned above? *scared* ; )

I tried using different IDs for the other pages, but eventually one of the divs seems to 'break' - it overlaps other divs, or cannot be moved or resized (you can select the outline and it goes blue, but no 'move up a row' or down a row or 'lock to grid' etc icons appear and it can't be drag-re-sized), plus the green overlay disappears (just from that div. I'm aware of how to turn visual aids on and off), so it seems broken. This often seems to happen if you rename a div once it's been created; it does not rename in the layout.css on the right side panel (CSS Styles) in DW and the 'broken' behaviour above is exhibited. Do you know anything about this? Is this the 'edit this doc at your peril' stuff that most tutorials seem to mention? Am I doing something wrong?
I also tried making an FGL and saving out the original boilerplate.css, layout.css and respond.js. Then created multiple new FGLs and each time it created new versions of layout.css (called 'untitled-1', 2 etc.). Once I had created all the FGLs, I deleted all the new boilerplates and untitled.css files. Then restored the original ones and changed the link at the top of each page's html to refer to the same filename (the original layout.css), rather than untitled.css. I thought this might work and it seemed to for a while, but then as I had to add new div names for the sections on each page, it eventually broke (as above).
Anyway, I think you have a good point about different layouts and it occurred to me also while I was exploring and waiting for replies here. I think I will make one layout for all pages and go with that. I have a couple of questions about that though:
1. I think the max number of divs I want for one of the pages is 10, but some pages need less divs. If I only fill e.g. 8 divs on one page, will the other ones be sat there empty? I think they will actually...I guess I'm asking because I have not tried it yet (will do after this) and it takes so long to do this trial and error.
2. If the amount of content in each div is different, e.g. let's say Page 1 has 6 lines of content in div1, but page 2 may have an unlimited amount of content (I will want to add to it in the future). Will this result in the div on page 1 being a huge block of empty space after its 6 lines?

How to create multiple page pdf file

Sometimes I need to create multiple (more precisely double) page pdf file from another pdf file to reduce the printing cost of the document. For this I crop the single page document and then print it in a double page pdf file (in landscape).
But I am still facing a problem in this regard. When I make a double page pdf the gutter (distance between two pages, left and right) is more than 1.5 inch. This is a great problem. Can anyone tell me how to reduce the gutter when making a double page pdf file (don't just suggest to crop the single page pdf, i tried this as well, I cropped using the feature "remove white margin" but still there is more than 1.5 inch between two pages)

When you print, select the printer properties for the Adobe PDF printer. On the layout tab is an option for the number of pages per sheet. In some versions it is listed as multi-up as I recall. I did not say to simply print from the 2-up display. It is a printer option, not a display option.

Create multiple pages layout in Smartforms?

I need to create a Smartform which has two parts. The top portion will remain the same, but it could possibly be more then one page because of size of text. The second part will have different values but the size will always be the same.
Now we need to print multiple pages where the second the part will be different.
I know that i will need to create a first page and a next page. But do i need to create two main windows in first page, one for each part. And what do i need to have in next page?

I have now worked on the Smartform. I am still struggling little bit. This is what i have now:
I have one main which have 3 tables. The first two tables are displayed in the top portion of the page. As they are based on internal tables the number of rows will be different, so we dont know the exact size.
In the bottom portion i have a table which is also based on an internal table. Now in this case we only want to print one row and then jump to next page where i want to display the top portion again and the next line of bottom portion. The issue i have right now is that the bottom portion needs to be printed on a fixed place of page. But what happens is that after first row is printed, and it goes to next page and starts printed on top of the next page. I dont want that.
What i need is that the third table prints once on each page on a fixed position. Because once these pages are printed, they are not printed on a blank pages but a on a form where bottom portion values needs to be printed on specific fields.

Need help in creating a page that populates 3 related tables

I am pretty new to Oracle and have been trying to use the wizards in HTML_DB to create one page that will populate three tables. I have thus far have NOT been able to find my solutions. I do not know enough experience in SQL/PL_SQL to create the code on my own.
Here is my dilemma. I have three tables:
con (for contacts) - with regular contact info = l_name, f_name, phone...
pro (for different programs) - with different program info = pro_name, priority..
procon (Contact/program) - that joins the two together with initial, follow-up and close date fields.
I created a composite primary key in the procon table that consists of the two pk's of the other two tables (using fk relationships).
I want to be able to use one page in HTML_DB to enter in the data which will populate all three tables. Is there a way to do this in PL/SQL?
* Also: Is there a book out there that you can recommend that really teaches SQL/PL_SQL?
I would really, really, REALLY appreciate the help!!!!!

This isn't as bad as you think. I would create one procedure in a package and pass the parameters to the package via htmldb

Create multiple page jpgs from pdfs

Hi,
My boss has asked me to convert a large number of multiple-page pdfs into multiple-page jpgs. I have been able to convert the pdfs to jpgs in photo shop using image processor, but the processor only captures the first page of the multiple page documents and when I have been able to convert an entire pdf to jpeg, it creates individual jpg files for each separate page.
How can I convert the multiple-page pdf file to a single multiple-page jpg file?

There are very few raster formats that support multi-page. The only one I can think of at the moment is Tiff which is a special fax format. In that mode I don't recall if it supports color or not. I know they were talking about adding color for the newer color fax machines. As you can tell that was years ago. So I would assume the tiff fax mode has improved by now.
Since tiff and psd support layers, you could place each page on its own layer, then leave it up to the program viewing the file to determine how to switch between layers to see each page. Yeah it is a work around, but is doable.
That said, I am not up to date on all the formats and what new features they contain. So I could easily be missing a format that could be of use to you.

How to create multiple pages in the output file?

hi, we have an application (C++) that generates PDF output. I've been asked to figure out how to create multiple copies of each page (uncollated). i.e. the output would be 4 copies of p 1 followed by 4 copies of p 2, etc. I'd like to do this without actually replicating each page if possible ... any ideas?

Why not just put four copies of the same CosObj reference into the Pages array/tree?

i have a form that is distributed statewide and i need the ability for the user to be able to create mutiple pages - this form may have 2 pages or 200 pages and right now i have 20 copies of the page in the file and if they have more than 20 pages they have to save multiple files.

You can do that with an Acroform by spawning a page template. If it has to work with Reader versions prior to 11, then the document will have to be Reader-enabled using LiveCycle Reader Extensions (which is different than Designer) with the appropriate usage rights. Reader 11 allows template spawning to create a new page (and overlay an existing one) with a non-enabled document. Note that you cannot remove a page once it has been added.

Help/advice- creating .asp pages on PC not connected to server

I don't know if I'm using the right terminology, but I'm pretty sure we have an ASP server. I created a simple site for the place I work, and now I want to create forms, forum, etc. but it looks like I need "server-side" scripting.
But I'm using 2 computers - My own laptop with DW to create the pages, and then my work computer without dreamweaver, that's locally connected to our server. On the computer at work I can edit pages using wordpad.
So if I can't connect to our server straight from the laptop, how can I set up "server-side" technology?
Don't even know where to begin here - pointing me to any kind of tutorial or info on using ASP would be much appreciated... Walking me through it would be so much better. But anyway, thanks in advance!

This might sound like a stupid question, but if you are working for the company setting up the site and working remotely that should be a requirement of the job. If you are an employee and not outsourced work, does the company not own the software they have you using to make the site?
Anyways, as I said, depending on your version of Windows you can run a local test server. It uses virtually no memory. The version of IIS though is determined by your version of Windows. Here is the link to the Windows 7 installation tutorial from the MSDN site ( http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731911.aspx ). There are ones for other versions of Windows. That will allow you to test the ASP. Otherwise you will can develop but you will have no way to test any programming and dynamic content will not load. Just when you set up the Site in DW, for the Testing Server, choose your server language, but for Access choose "none".
