HELP!!! Refresh Firmware w/o wall charger

Help!!! I am on vacation, and I didn't bring my wall charger, just the cord to connect to my lap top. I have iTunes set up to automatically update, and I just went to down load some new songs on my iPod and it wont down load, it keeps saying I need to connect my iPod to a wall charger to reflash/refresh firmware. I dont have my wall charger, so i cant do that, but now i cant use my iPod. Does anyone know how to fix this without a wall charger?
Please help!!!
EDIT: I also am getting a picture on my iPod of the wall charger and an outlet.

Hello Joey,
I agree with the suggestion from LYSSA, I read from this forum before, someone suggested to charge it with a car charger. But I must say that I have not tried yet for myself

  • HELP! 40GB photo ipod "wall charger" icon..

I am not sure what generation my photo ipod is but I got it a year or two ago so I am assuming it is a 4th generation one. All of my songs were deleted and now has the "plug to wall charger" icon. The problem is, I don't have a wall charger anymore. Would I need to buy one or does anyone know of any other methods I can go through to fix it? I been charging my ipod through the usb/computer.
Please help. I am too broke to afford to buy a new one! I love my ipod dearly!

I purchased a refurbished 4th generation HP branded Apple iPod for my friend today. When I was setting it up for him I noticed it was formatted for Windows and he uses a Mac, like me. To change it to Mac-format, so he could install firmware updates, I restored the iPod in iTunes. I've done this a number of times with my Mac and my iPod Mini, however with a firewire cable. I didn't know that if you restore this generation iPod with a USB connection, you need to connect it to a wall charger afterwards to complete the firmware update.
HP did not ship this iPod with a firewire cable or a power adapter. It was asking to be connected to a wall adapter but we did not have one. We bought a car power adapter, but this didn't work. We tried inserting the USB cable half-way, but that did not work either. What finally worked was taking the iPod to a Radio Shack and plugging it into an iPod clock radio/boombox type device; the firmware installed, the iPod rebooted, and we have a Mac-formatted iPod working perfectly now.
No amount of resetting or attempts to put the iPod in disk mode prior to this would work. Hope this helps someone.

  • Phone no longer recognized by my computer or my wall charger...HELP

After the 2.0 upgrade had a few issues, still have a few of the apps quitting etc. these I can deal with while waiting for the fixes.
The big problem is the phone now cannot connect to the computer or the charger, tried different cables {still can charge with car charger} all combinations and even my daughters new wall charger that came with her 3 g, nothing, so not the connector or the cables since all work in the car, not the charger since hers works on her phone and her phone works on my charger!
I used to do the connection for back up etc. using a hub but that was first to fail {worked during upgrade {?} to 2.0 and for a few days after that, up until this morning I could plug it directly into the usb on the computer and that worked now nothing works but the Belkin car charger.
Did all of the restarts of the phone and the computer, nothing helps, would try a restore on the phone but, read above.
If the old cell plan were transferable to the new phone I would gladly go buy a new phone {is this some hidden software bug to make me do that? ;-} but I see no need to pay $15 more per month for the same service, there is no 3 g near me so all I would get for the money is gps.
    Any ideas?

I am right there with you with this issue. I've tried every reset feature there is and that doesn't work at all. NOTHING FIXES IT!
I have a Logitech monitor with a ipod dock in it and that will charge it but once you hook the USB cable to ANY computer MAC/PC it stops showing that it is charging.
It will NOT sync at all and doesn't look like it is charging but I swear it is.
I took mine to the Apple Store in Brandon about 2 hours ago. They never saw this issue before and of course I'm out of my warranty by only 20 days!
My phone is hosed and I had to get a new one if I wanted to sync anything to it. They had the white 3G 16gig so I had to shell out another $300 to get a working phone. Which brings my total in just over a year of having it to almost $1000. I don't see how this is fair business practice...
I hope someone as Apple is listening. Your people don't know how to fix this in the store and right now I have a worthless iPhone!!! This *****!

Did you get a charger with the iPad 3?
Could be the charger or cable. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Volts! Wall charger: International Compatibility? Please help!

Hi, hope someone can help me - I've been searching for answers for the last 3 hours and still havn't got one!
I bought an iPod + video 60GB in Japan over Christmas.
I brought it back to the U.K.
I need a wall charger as I have no free USB sockets on my laptop.
U.K. voltage is 240V. In Japan its 120V.
    So... My questions are:
    1. If I plug in my Japanese iPod into a U.K wall charger will my iPod break??????
    2. Do all iPods from different countries have the same specs? (You'd think I'd atleast find this one out myself but I can't find anything about it)
    3. What would you reccomend I do?
I've been browsing for chargers from random sites and came across a few... such as:
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/iPod-30GB-60GB-Video-2GB-4GB-Nano-U2-Mains-Charger-UK_W0QQ itemZ5861845063QQcategoryZ48680QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
But even the sellers don't know if a Japanese iPod can withstand 240V!!
I thank you in advance for any help/advice/recommendations.

How can a FireWire adaptor charge my iPod?
Your iPod doesn't use firewire, but it can drink the power that firewire ports produce. Nevertheless, just buy a standard iPod charger. You don't need to worry about firewire.
    (I'm not
entirely sure what FireWire is except its some
invisible magical waves that lets some people use the
internet without USB cables and other wires..no?)
No. It's similar to USB but faster. It's used for connecting things together eg. digital cameras, printers etc.
Are FireWire adaptors as good as socket in wall ones?
(A friend uses FireWire net connection and says its
way slower if she wanted to download anything.)
It's way faster, but it makes no difference to you. You iPod doesn't use firewire but it can use firewire as a power source. Just get a standard iPod charger.
If all iPods work on 5VDC does that mean I can use
and iPod adapter, even the cheapy ones on ebay,
because they all adjust the voltage so its 5V and not
    240?
No. All iPods consume the same power eg. standard USB or Firewire. All proper iPod chargers will output the right power for all iPods everywhere, but that doesn't mean the charger itself is designed to work with the wall power in any country. As long as it's a standard British iPod charger, it should be ok.
I don't really want an international adapter as it
seems you can use it in every country except Japan.
(Although I am based in the U.K. I go to Japan every
year for 2 months you see).
    Fair enough!
After alot of consideration & browsing I'm thinking
    of buying this one:
    http://www.iskins.co.uk/logic3accharger.htm
Do you aprove? Is a FireWire one still better?
    Ignore firewire.

  • Help! Firmware Problem! Help! Plea

Ok, I got the Zen Touch off Ebay. I don't have a wall charger, just a USB cord. The battery was almost dead when i got it, but ali've enough to put firmware on it. So i tried putting the newest one on there and it erased the current one on my zen touch, but didn't put the new one on there. Now it's in recovery mode and it won't charge through my port to put firmware back on it. Help!

Great, however this is something that you probably don't know as almost nobody bothers to stress out eventhough it is of outmost importance:
Your Zen Micro used a Lithium based battery.
These batteries don't like to be drained completely.
Infact draining them completely often reduces their life significally.
Similarly they don't like being completely charged either (although for that, limiters are usually utilized to prevent it).
If your battery were to fall bellow a certain charge level it could refuse to re-charge altogether!!!
This is why the player wouldn't turn on, to avoid discharging the battery bellow that level.
For that make sure you charge it before it goes too far down while it is a good idea to discharge it *almost* completely and charge it again once every 30 or so charges/discharges...
EDIT: Oh, just to know, the Micro doesn't have a reset button because you can simply take the battery out to reset it. That hole is the microphone so DON'T put anything in it...

Hello, my ipad mini is not charging what so ever and it is literally 0%. Once I put it on my wall charger, it still won't charge. I tried rebooting it, by pressing the home and sleep button for 15 second. I tried to change the wall outlet, AC Charger Adapter with USB for the Apple ipad mini and nothing would not work. This happened more than a billion times, and i had to wait more than 18 hours just to reach 1% before.
My Imessage doesn't work either, each time I send a message it won't send.
I have lots of problems with my ipadmini.
    Please help me,
    Thank you!

  • No longer works with wall charger

I have a Logic3 wall charger and it used to work fine with my 3rd gen iPod nano. However, right after installing an update around Oct/Sep I believe, it stopped working. Everytime I plug it in, the screen freezes and it doesn't charge; I know because I assumed it was charging and it had no more battery.
It isn't the charger because it works fine with friend's iPod (though they bought theirs just recently). I'm not sure if the update caused this, but I'm not sure. Please help if you have any info. Thank you.

Sorry- I would have replied sooner but for some reason it wouldn't let me log in.
I realize that my warranty wouldn't have covered it, just sometimes I wonder if it's really a coincidence that everything I own spontaneously combusts days after the warranty runs out.
But thanks for your response. At first I left it for a couple of hours, and then tried another four days. It was okay for about two days, but came back.
Then it went away by itself again for a while, but now it's back and worse than ever. A lot of times I can't even get the error off the screen. And if I try to play any songs, the song starts skipping.
There isn't anything else I can try, is there?
At this point I'm starting to think I'd be better off with a new one. In my experience, sending things in only ends up costing more than the thing itself and half the time it returns still broken.
It's too bad, I much prefer the lst generation Nanos to the 2nd.
