Help reinstall cs3 from hard drive crash

I have cs3 installed on a pc and a laptop. My laptop crashed so I installed a new hard drive. When I went to reinstall cs3 an error message came up saying it can't complete installation due to licensing. I have to deacivate any of the previous unused licenses to be able to reinstall right? Any help on how I can do this? Or is there something else I have to do?

The one on the laptop activated fine but the PC one says: the maximum number of activations have been reached then it tells me to deactivate or to buy a new license
Which doesn't make sense because before the hard drive crashed i had cs3 installed and activated using the same serial number on both the PC and the laptop.

HELP!! Complete hard drive crash on IQ826t. Now running Windows 7/32 bit. Need help to rebuild all.

Pulling my hair out over a complete hard drive crash. I had a new drive installed and also Windows 7/32bit. I was able to recover most of my things from external back-up, but lost all that it takes to run the Touchsmart portion. I'm not a computer Geek but would sincerely appreciate any info to bring back my Touchsmart. I've contacted customer support and little can be done ( or so they say ) now that the warranty has expired. Has anyone had the same problem?

I need help in restoring data recovered from hard drive crash to new hard drive

I have the data that was recovered by a recovery service (long story) from my wife's hard drive after it crashed, which is now stored on my computer. There are two user data sets that have been recovered, one for each of us. I need to put each on my wife's computer with its new hard drive, which now has OSX 10.10.? (Yosemite) on it.
My wife's computer was running OSX 10.7 (Lion) when the hard drive failed and my computer is still running OSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard).
I was told that I should use the Data Transfer Utility (starting my computer up while holding the "T" key), but I have forgotten what I have to do when I start up her computer. Are there any operating system compatibility problems that are sensitive to this process?

That is a Microsoft Windows question?? You should probably ask this question on Microsoft's Forums. BTW there is no "Windows 9". Only Windows 7, Windows 8 and apparently MS is skipping the number 9 in favor of 10.

How do I uninstall and reinstall CS3 after hard drive failure?

Hi. I suffered a recent hard drive failure on a Mac Pro. I didn't have a backup, like a dummy. The hard drive fails to boot so I installed OS on new blank hard drive and attempted to drag over whatever I could see and find from old drive onto the new one. I tried to start CS3 after doing this but it gives me an error: "LIcensing for this product has stopped working. You cannot use this product at this time. You must repair problem by uninstalling and reinstalling this product or contact IT Admin or Adobe Customer support" When I go to Utilities to find uninstall for Adobe the file is not there. WHen I try to reinstall from disk it says "setup error; setup has encountered an error and cannot continue. COntact Adobe Customer service support for assistance". I contacted them via chat and they told me they cannot help me and to post this issue here. Is there a way to resolve this? Am I just missing a file or something that will resolve the issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You can't install applications like that. Use the original disks to
install the software.

Help! Recovering after hard drive crash? Saving backups??

My drive crashed a few weeks ago and I lost everything I'd created with iWeb 2008. I downloaded all the files from my website, thinking I could just recompile it in iWeb, but iWeb doesn't even have and "open file" option. Am I just screwed? Do I have to start over from scratch?
Also, why doesn't iWeb allow you to save a backup of your working document??? If I could have done that, I wouldn't be in this mess!

Only iWeb's Domain file can be opened in iWeb. See this Apple doc on How to back up MobileMe data. It says:
Any websites you have published with iWeb should still be available within iWeb. iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb. You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up.
Paragraph 2.3 of this FAQ page gives some tips on how to use published files, graphics, photos, etc., to help rebuild the site from scratch:

HELP!!! Hard Drive Crash!

Hi guys.
I really need your help. Two days ago I erased my HD and reinstalled OSX from the scratch. Yesterday I updated everything, OS + all applications. Then I cleaned up everything, repaired permissions, optimized the system etc. Then I put all my data back which I had backed up on my iPod. Everything went all right. Then I switched on music synchronization in iTunes 7 and left for a while. When I got back after about 30min, the screen was black and hard drive spinning and would not stop.
It wouldn't boot up from the HD, so I booted up from System CD, S.M.A.R.T. status was verified but it didn't find OS on my HD. I turned it off, back on, booted up from CD again and this time it did not find the Hard Drive at all! I cannot even reinstall OS because there is no HD!
Any idea before I pay $300 plus flat fee for repair?

Sorry to hear that your hard drive died.
You have a few choices. First, speed: You can put a 5400rpm drive in or a 7200rpm drive. 5400rpm is the current standard, and 7200rpm provides for snappier response from faster disk operations.
Size: 5400rpm drives go up to 160gb (Seagate) and 7200rpm drives max out at 100gb. Seagates come with a 5 year warranty versus 3 years for most other drives.
You can get see a good selection of choices at OWC at http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/ . Look down the left side of the page at the IDE drives, not the SATA drives (which work in the new Intel-based computers).
If you're handy and the thought of digging into the innards of your PB doesn't frighten you, you can swap the drive out yourself. You can view what's involved at http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Mac/ (choose your model then HD replacement).
If you don't want to do that yourself, if you buy a drive through Apple they'll install it, however, if you source the drive yourself (maybe with more capacity or faster or both, for example), if you take it to an Apple authorized repair center, they will usually do the install.

Recovering From Hard Drive Crash

My iMac's drive recently crashed. Fortunately, I had a pretty good back up plan in place. I have all of the "Home File" data on the back up including all of the iTunes data. I have re-added all of the music and it appears and plays in iTunes on the new drive. What files do I need bring over from the back up to re establish my playlists and preferences? Is this even possible at this point?

i would recommend using sentui. even though i was VERY SMART of you to back this up, when my mac crashed and i lost all my info, i used sentui. it uses the music on your ipod and puts i back in itunes. playlists and all. and its free.

HT203167 I had a hard drive crash & lost all of my music. Most of it came from ripping my CDs, which I can do again. I'd like to clear my iTunes library without emptying my iPod too. Can I do this?

When I tried to remove the existing library so I could start ripping again, I got a message that said that all of the library entries I delete will be removed from my iPod next time I sync. I do NOT want to do that. It will take me some time to rip all of my CDs again, and I don't want to have an empty iPod in the meantime.
Is there a way to clear my iTunes library of all of the invalid songs (which is most of them) and not have them deleted from my player?

Unfortunately I do not. I had all of my music on this external drive that crashed. I have a replacement drive now but the re-ripping process will be slow to come. I just basically wanted to start with a `clean slate' in iTunes without emptying the contents of my iPod.

Hard drive crash, music on external drive but no library or playlist backup

I'm guessing this question has been asked many times but I've searched all over the internet and these forums and am exhausted. So I beg for your help.
My computer hard drive crashed. Not sure if I can get the files off it yet or not but will find out this weekend trying to connect it as an external drive with a special cable. All the Itunes music is on an existing external hard drive that works fine. No backups were ever created of the playlists or of the library file on the crashed drive, the external drive, or anywhere else.
I'm using what I guess they call on original Ipod, 25 GB.
The main thing I care about is getting 5 years' worth of playlists back. Most of them do exist on my Ipod, so at worst I could reference them visually there and recreate them in Itunes. But, um, I'd rather not!:)
So if with that information you can tell me what series of steps I should take to try to restore my playlists into Itunes on my new PC, or point me to a link, please do. I'll put my thoughts and questions below if this helps in figuring it out. I would say the chances are that I can't access any files from my old hard drive, but it is possible.
My Ipod also contains most of my songs and playlists, but not all, such as different versions of the same song etc. That is in addition to the external hard drive that all my songs are safely on.
1) If I can access the files on the old hard drive, is there anything there that contains information on the playlists if I haven't backed them up individally? From my reading it seems like playlists are not contained in the library file itself, is that right or wrong?
2) What information is contained in that library file, what does it do? If I can't get it from my old hard drive what will happen if I have Itunes create a new one?

See: What are the iTunes Library files? Both the ITL and XML files keep your Library data. The ITL file is used by iTunes. The XML file is created by iTunes and can bu used in other programs or Imported back into iTunes to re-create your Library. hey are only as good as your last archived backup file (should you corrupt the current Library database file).

Not directly. You'll need to use the recovery software mentioned in #3 above.

Without a backup of your "crashed" HD you will have to download your iTunes purchases again. Make sure your restored computer is running the latest version of iTunes.
Here is the procedure for your reference.
On your restored computer, launch iTunes. Click on iTunes Store on the left
On the right you will see this
"Sign in" using the Apple ID used to purchase your songs, then click on "Purchased" (with the orange blob)
On the summary page that appears select the tab "Not on This Computer" on the right.
On the list that appears, select what you want and then click the "Download" button.
When you want to play your newly downloaded music, you will have to "authorize" it. Don't worry about the lost HD until enough of your computers crash that you reach the limit of 5. Then you can "deauthorize all" and re-authorize as necessary.

You don't need to have Lightroom 3 and 4 installed on your computer to install Lightroom 5. Just install Lightroom 5 and input your serial number for 3 in the previous version box and your serial number for 5 in the upgrade box.

You can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod. File>Transfer Purchases
