Help reinstalling LR on new computer, path to catalog is different.

I bought a new Windows 8.1 laptop. My previous laptop was Windows 7. I stored my photos under My Pictures with the catalog at the default location. I've moved all my photos to the Pictures folder on the new laptop. So the paths to all the photos is slightly different. When I reinstall LR, is there anything I can do to specify the existing catalog db and have it update the paths so that it finds all the existing photos? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Ed

  • Acrobat 9 Pro to reinstall on a new computer

Where can I diwnload Adobe Pro to reinstall on a new computer?

if you follow all 7 steps you can dl a trial here: http://prodesigntools.com/all-adobe-cs5-direct-download-links.html
    and activate with your serial.
if you have a problem dl'g, you didn't follow all 7 steps.  the most common error involves failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).

  • I have iwork on two computers, but my account doesn't show record of it for my being able to reinstall on the new computer.  Is there a time limit?  I tried airdrop, but it won't let me use it.

I have iwork on two computers, but my account doesn't show record of it for my being able to reinstall on the new computer.  Is there a time limit?  I tried airdrop, but it won't let me use it.

Sounds like you installed iWork from before there was the Mac App Store.
If you installed it from a Family DVD you are entitled to install that on 5 computers and can do that from the DVD.
If not then you need to purchase it from the M.A.S. and will be able to install it on any of your computers using the same Apple I.D. However Apple is promising a new version before Christmas so it may not be a good time to buy now.

  • Installed photoshop on 4 computers years ago...they all got replaced before we deactivated it...now I am trying to reinstall on a new computer and it says it can't be registered to another computer...HELP!

I need to get it installed on a new computer but it says I can't register it without deactivating it from another computer first.  Only problem is all of the computers it was registered on are dead now.

Every time I go to that page it tells me to try troubleshooting, when I select what I need help with it loops me right back to the support page again and tells me to try troubleshooting.  So frustrating.  Adobe should seriously have a phone number people can call.  This is ridiculous.  I want to talk to someone not search online endlessly for hours.  Ugh.

  • Old serial # not working to reinstall CS2 on new computer

I installed all the disks for my old CS2 software on my new computer but when I open the individual programs, they give me an error reading "User name, organization, serial number is missing or invalid.  Application cannot continue and must now exit."  I spoke to an adobe representative who said that CS2 would not fuction with my new Windows 7 OS.  Is there any way to get the older version to work with the Windows 7 or is it incompatible?  I have the old serial number, coupon code (it was a student version), and customer ID #.  Thanks in advance for your help!

Did you run in compatibility mode for WinXP? If not, please do. The issue is simply that the data is actually there, it's just in the wrong place. Only inputting it in legacy mode will store it in the right location in the registry. and of course you will have to run as admin, turn off UAC and system protection as wel las any third-party security tools to avoid possible inetrference.

  • Help me buy a new computer suitable for Arch

    Hello all Arch users.
About 1½ years ago, a mate convinced me to try out Arch Linux. It was about the same time as I also bought myself a TFT monitor. I've grown rather fond of Arch since then, and refuse to use anything else (except at work where I have to use Windoze).
But I've also been having some eye-problems for the last year or so, and I'm blaming partly my Phillips 190S monitor, and partly backlight/brightness settings in Arch, which I have been unable to change. Last thursday these eye-problems accelerated and gave me so much trouble I was unable to use a computer or TV or even go outside for days. I can't live a life that boring! :-|  I have to be able to use my computer 25 hours a day.
I've searched a bit on the forum and found that I'm not the only one having some eye-problems with Arch. One solution apparently is to use xbacklight command, which just doesn't work on my system. I found another graphics-card which I tried, but it used the same drivers, so still no xbacklight command. Anyway, I don't want to make a big story out of it either, since I've decided to buy a new computer and monitor now. I want a low-noise system anyway, so....
The monitor will be some expensive stuff that should be very kind to the eyes, so I'm pretty sure that part can't be better. But should you have a recommendation for a great monitor that's kind to the eyes, do share.
I'm thinking that the hardware otherwise might not be compatible with Arch for reasons I'm sure I wouldn't know about. Also, I'm interested in knowing if there's any graphics-cards that suits Arch better than others. And finally, my Arch system is a little broken, and a fresh install probably isn't a bad idea. (I'm no Linux hardcore user, but I definitely know I prefer any Linux distro over Windoze).
So I decided to put down the stuff I'm thinking of getting, and maybe someone will tell me if they know of any problems with that hardware and Arch, or maybe recommend me something else.
    MSI G31M LGA775 1333FSB Bulk MAT G31M, 4xSATA
    Intel Core 2 Duo E4600, 2.40GHz, 800FSB
    Ram Geil 2048 MB DDR-II PC6400 KIT
    Samsung S223 DVDRW-SA/18/18/8/SATA
    Samsung 250GB SATA II Harddisk
    NorthQ NQ-6803 52-in-1 Cardreader
There's no graphics-card on that list, because there's a built-in one one the motherboard, and I don't really need it for games, but rather system-development and such. But if you believe that a certain graphics-card will improve picture quality, or be more kind to the eyes, then do tell me. (I doubt it, but if you think so, lemme know).
Any other advises regarding brightness and be-kind-to-your-eyes-stuff is also welcome. So far I've installed www.sharpfonts.com, but it's too soon to say if it helps.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the answers.
I'll definitely look into that flourescent lighting thingy, although I think/thought I had enough light around me already.
I have also tried having brightness at 0, and even contrast at 0 also. Also using the nvidia settings.
Anyway, it would seem I've found one of the reasons. Apparently, for some weird reason, Arch hasn't offered me 60hz, but rather lower odd numbers such as 53hz. So I've been using a rather lower frequency, which logically should explain at least some of the reason.
While Windows lets me go as high as 75hz with this current 17" monitor I've tried instead of my 19" monitor, Arch won't even let me have 60hz. I've tried various xorg.conf settings, and even got one mailed to me which doesn't change anything. So that's two monitors I've tried where Arch doesn't deliver the hz I want, but where Windows does fine and more. That can't be right. I'm using the nvidia drivers, and have tried two graphics cards.
I'm buying a better monitor regardless though, something that's extra kind to the eyes somehow. I'm thinking 19-22" with some fancy techniques to reduce whatever it tough on the eyes. Maybe a fresh install of Arch will help getting the hz needed. I need to do that anyway on the new computer.
I also tried booting Ubuntu from a CD to check how that seemed, and while the Ubuntu desktop and fonts did seem more calm and eye-friendly, I must admit I'd been looking at it too much at that time to be sure I wasn't just kidding myself.

  • Need help installing photoshop onto new computer.....

Need some help installing photoshop onto my new computer. Way back when I was in college I purchased photoshop. It has worked fine for everything that I do, plus I know all the tricks to this particular version. It has only been installed on 2 computers before...both my own computers. Now we have a new computer because the last one broke & I haven't been able to download the program. I have the cd etc but wondering why I can't download it. Could it be because it is so old....?? It's Photoshop 4.0  I have several docs that I need to open but can't because they're in photoshop....ugh... Please someone help. Thanks!!

Photoshop version 4 (shipped 1996) or Photoshop CS4 (shipped 2008)?

  • How can I uninstall Logic Pro 9 from my old computer and reinstall on my new computer?

Pardon the newbie question. I plan to upgrade to a new computer. I have Logic Pro 9 and Mainstage on my current computer and a bunch of other paid software. How can I migrate these paid apps/software to my new computer?
    thanks for any help.

If you installed them from a DVD, you need to install that DVD onto the new computer. If you got them from the Mac App Store, redownload them from there for free.
Having previously purchased an application on DVD or from the iTunes App Store does not allow a free download of it from the Mac App Store.

  • Need help with my iTunes-new computer-can't access my music

We just got a new computer and I transferred all of my songs from the old to the new and now when I try to access them in iTunes I get an error message that "it cannot be used because the original file cannot be located" Do I have to put in the DVD with all of the files on it in order to use any of my song? I thought that I saved them to my hard drive, but who knows....HELP!!! pLEase!!!

You haven't told us enough about what you did.
You need to explain exactly how you did your transfer.
If you don't care about your ratings and play counts and your really did copy your files across, there is a simple way of getting going again.
With iTunes closed drag iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.itl out of the iTunes folder to the desk top.
Start iTunes and you will have an empty library. Now simply add the folder with your music files in it - normally iTunes Music - to iTunes with File>Add folder to library.
If you didn't copy your files across, try putting the DVD in the drive and opening iTunes - can iTunes find your files now. If so it is a sign you added the files to your library without copying them to your internal HD.

  • Reinstalling iTunes to new computer; Concerned for current songs on iPod

Alright, so my last computer just died November 29th un-expectantly. (It suddenly shut down while in the middle of a conversation with a friend and wouldn't turn back on since). At first I hopped that it was possible overheating because of that week, it had been on from morning to night none stop.
Yet, it soon showed that it was completely fried.
I hadn't backed up any of my music and so everything that wasn't lost on the computer is still on my ipod. Today, my grandmother gave us one of her good computers and I am prepared to reinstall itunes to it and start over.
But I am concerned on what will happen to the 700+ songs still on my ipod when I sync it. Will I lose them when I sync my ipod and if so, is there a way to save them??

1). Connect your iPod to your new computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you only want to copy your purchases to the computer that can be done using iTunes, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (including purchases) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
A selection of iPod to iTunes utilities:
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
    Floola Mac & Windows
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
4). Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive
