Help requested: mobile me to iCloud forced move?

I just got an EM from Apple saying I have to move from MobileMe to iCloud. As I read it, iCloud REQUIRES Lion.
I am running snow leopard because I still use the evil Intuit's Quicken 2007, which doesn't run on Lion. I've looked for better home finance software, but it's all garbage, so I hadn't made a move.
In this switch, will I loose my Mobile Me Gallery and e-mail (the only two things I really use)? Do I have any hope to stay on SnowLeopard and move to iCloud? What are my options here (short of ditching Quicken or ditching my apple e-mail and gallery)?

You will lose the Gallery whatever happens - iCloud has no equivalent facility and MobileMe will terminate at the end of June; so you need to look for a third-party alternative. This page may help:

It's possible to migrate to iCloud with Snow Leopard - go to http://me.com/move and when asked to confirm that your Mac has Lion, lie and say 'yes'. You can set Mail up manually to access iCloud email - details here:

There is an unsupported hack which can make Calendar syncing work, but the other facilities won't work: from what you say this won't bother you.
You should migrate at some point before June and set the email up: doing this will not make any difference to your Gallery but as I say you will have to deal with this as a separate issue.

iCloud does not provide any equivalent hosting service: you will need to find a third-party provider. Any web hosting service should be OK, and there's plenty of choice.
Hopefully you have local copies of these files as well as the ones on the iDisk; if not you need to be copying them down as soon as possible or you will lose them at the end of June.

Mobile me to iCloud help

Dear fellow Apple enthusiasts,
I have switched from mobile me to iCloud. I have kept my @me.com email address.
Is the email address I use for @me.com available for others to pick for an iCloud.com email address?
I am concerned that it may get taken, and then if in the future Apple make it mandatory to have an iCloud email (and get rid off @me.com), I will lose my named address.

Nothing has been announced as to the introduction of an @icloud.com address - the rumours floating around at the moment are because it's being used in conjuction with beta testing of iOS6 and someone'es leaked that - but if it is ever introduced you would keep your username, i,e. the part before the @whatever: it would never be available for anyone else to snaffle.

Errors with moving from Mobile me to iCloud - No answer anywhere on the web that I can find!

I'm completely up to date with Lion.
I'm trying to move from Mobile Me to iCloud, but get an "Unable to complete your move to iCloud because of an unexpected server error" message on my Mac Book Pro when I open system preferences, it tries to finish moving me to iCould, but fails and gives me the error message above.
My Mobile Me account status is saying I have been upgraded to iCloud.
I have already successfully completed the move on my iMac and two iPhone 4's?
I have tried repair permissions and deleted the keychain, but the problem still exists!
Can anyone provide a solution? I am getting very frustrtaed, as I have so much stuff to do, I didn't want to waist any time on this issue!

This lead me to the solution for my issue: deleting the ~/Library/Application Support/iCloud/Accounts folder.
I spoke to an Apple MobileMe Support girl and she was useless!
I've wasted over 24 hours trying to sort this issue out - not a happy Apple user!

I have a problem syncing iCal on my Macbook air (10.7.5) and my iPhone 4s (5.1.1) over iCloud. Been to Apple Store - no luck instore, or with Super genius over the phone when with genius in store, taking data in real time via ethernet!
I had to do a full wipe of my system because of time machine back up issues 2 weeks ago, and the error has only occured at some point since then. I only did a drag and drop of my user account folders/files into an External HDD rather than a copy of my user account (advised by the staff in store at Apple to do this) and when reimported, the Mail folders are all present but each message is in a sub-sub-sub folder that is numerically named. I do not have a mirror image of the hard disk prior to the wipe, only a time machine back up from 2 weeks prior to it being done. I am uncertain if this reinstall has caused the issue.
I am not happy to upgrade the software in my iPhone until I have the calendars working. I have purchased Mountain Lion, but again am concerned about upgrading until the issues are sorted.
I have tried the other solutions on here with no luck. HELP please.

Progress Update.
I made a back of what existing phtos and Videos I had on my Iplhone. I used Image capture to do this making an entire back up of photos and videoa that were still intact on the phone.
Image capture is god for this purpose, as it does exactly what you ask it to do without applying any rules or squishing the files back into iphote (which might also be corupted)
Image capture wil do the basic function of retriving the contents of the phone and save them as native files on your hard drive.
Once I did this I erased my iphone, and re intitialised it restoring an older back up from icloud.
As the retore was happneing - I did retreive the missing files that cuased the intial beviour as above, and I could play the videos that were missing in the above scenerio. The wierd ting was however that even though the source files were now back on the device, the thumbnail previews were missing. Where I ahd balck thumb nails for server portions of the resotred content.
I then went to bed as the restore is a long process. When I woke up the library had library had cleaned itself up. Mysteriously the prcess had deleted the files missing the their thumbnails.
This is very perculiar and bad behavior.
I am now repeating the process, and will attempt to download the missing content as it is restored and prior to the phone trying to fix itself.
Here are the lessons learned.
DO NOT rely on Photo Stream to keep back ups and synchornise videos from you IOS device. IT DOES NOT SUPPORT THIS CAPBILITY
DO NOT rely on iCloud Back Up alone - always fd an occassional iTunes back up or more reliably still always take a back up of photos and video files using Image Capture to be doubly sure that you a have backd up any content.
DO THIS NOW - dont wait to loose your phone ofr have your phone repaired by replacement at the apple Store. (I did both :-(

Aliases Mobile Me Vs Icloud - Unexpected result.

I just migrated from Mobile Me to icloud. I was using all available alias spots (let's call them 1,2,3,4 for the order they were created).
I understood that existing Mobile Me accounts could keep their aliases. I can receive email to all of my aliases now under icloud, but I can't send from Alias 1. Which is a problem, because Alias 1 is what I use for my business correspondence, and have been using since about ten seconds after I created my mobile me account and realised that the dumb user name I chose would become my email address forevermore. Alias one doesn't show up under the alias tab either, but I emailed it and I did get the email, so I know it's working.
I hope someone has an idea...

All the aliases should have migrated properly. You could try MobileMe Support (I know you're on iCloud but there is no free support for that unless you happen to have AppleCare, and MobileMe Support have helped some people). Go to http://www.apple.com/support/mobileme/ww/ and select your country. In the next window click on a category to expand it, then on a subject to get a link to 'live chat'.

Unbelievable.
After taking all the time to write and post that, I then switched "airplane mode" on and off again and it started picking up the 3G signal fine.
I had read a couple of threads about Ipads / Iphones "locking" onto GPRS and this being the only way to switch them back, but I DEFINITELY tried this before the IOS 7 upgrade and it didn't help.
So was it just a coincidence this time or did the upgrade make a difference? No way of telling I suppose so no help if you're reading this looking for a solution. I can only keep an eye on it and see if this becomes a regular problem......

Regret updating from Mobile Me to iCloud

Is it my imagination or is iCloud totally disfuntional? Ever since updating to iCloud the iCal apps on my iPad and MacBook Pro are not syncing properly with the calendar in iCloud.
1. Calendar events created on my iPad usually show up in iCloud but sometimes with the wrong date and time. They never show up in iCal on my MacBook Pro
2. Calendar events created on my MacBook Pro don't show up on my iPad nor the calendar in iCloud.
3. Events created in iCloud's calendar show up on my iPad but never iCal on my MacBook Pro.
4. Events created in iCloud's calendar can't be editied within the iCloud calendar.
5. Selecting "Preferences" in the iCloud calendar does nothing.
Anyone else seeing any of the above? Any suggestions as to how this mess can be repaired. Ever since updating from Mobile Me to iCloud, I've had nothing but problems.

Go to www.icloud.com/move and transition the account to iCloud. Please take the time to read the posts listed to the right under 'More Like This' and please take the time to open System Preferences>iCloud to choose services to run. Many users report that you should sign out of Mobile Me in the Mobile Me preference pane or iCloud does not complete its login.

You can sign into more than one account at once, providing you only need one primary account, what exactly are you trying to do.

That happens because photo stream photos only remain in iCloud for 30 days, even though your last 1000 photo stream photos remain on your devices until deleted. When you enabled photo stream on your iPod 4, you only received photo stream photos from the last 30 days as older photos are no longer in iCloud. If you want to stream these older photos to your new iPod, you will have to create a shared photo stream on your old one that contains these photos (requires iOS 6 or higher) and invite yourself as a subscriber, as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmc0cd7e99.

Any devices connected to the same icloud account can sync all the data on that account. For this reason an icloud account is really for a single user.
On a mac, if each user has their own account, then the itunes for that mac account should be set up to connect to that user's icloud account (System preferences>icloud).

last thing you can try would be go to settings, general, settings, reset all settings
if that does not work, a factory restore will be needed...

After 1st Gen iPod touch reset, cannot configure mail for Mobile Me or iCloud account

I recently reset my iPod touch 1st Gen, v. 3.1.3 (7E18) and have not been able to configure Mail to check the Mobile Me or iCloud mail server. I get an error msg that the user name or password must be incorrect, but they're not. I assume this is due to the old IOS not being up to date with iCloud technologies, but I was able to get mail on this device before resetting. I don't use it much for email, but do carry it on trips as a backup access device to get to mail and calendars. I dont really want to use Safari to check mail when there is a mail app for doing so.
