Help required please with installof a Linksys Router iMac G5

Thanks in advance for any advice or help.
I wish to connect an iMAC G5 directly to a Linksys Router with 4 port switch.
Any ideas on this as the Linksys CD does not have Apple software.
Thanks
Fergal.

Welcome to the Apple Forums!
Sure, it will work. I'm uncertain as to the model that you are referring to, but generally, once you plug in your iMac to your linksys router, you will access it via your web browser at 192.168.1.1 and there is no user name and the password is Admin.
Take a peek at the documents that came with your router and look for the section called "Web based" administration and that should get you up and running.
Let us know if you have any other issues.

  • Help Required Please with Logic Express and Yamaha O1X

    Hi, I'm a new Logic and Mac user. I have just installed Logic Express and I am trying to get my Yamaha O1X mixer/ interface to work. I have the MLAN Tools installed and I can load a demo song into Logic. The meters on my Mixer are moving, I just cannot hear any sound. Doesanyone know the correct way to set this up to work correctly??
    I Mac 20"   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   Intel Dual Core 2.46 Ghz with 2GB Ram

    Answer these questions for me:
    Is the Monitor A/B switch green or off?
    Do you have the faders 1/2 raised on the 01X in the INST tab, and is the Stereo fader raised?
    Where is your amp/speakers connected to on the O1X?
    Should be connected to monitor L/R out with the A/B switch off (not green).
    If you load the logic demo are the meters moving?
    Is Logic selected as your DAW on the O1X utility tab?
    In your AMS settings....MLAN should be selected for the inputs and outputs
    Make sure you did This!!!!
    To monitor your computer's audio outs via the 01X go to the surface of the 01X. In the upper right click INTERNAL MODE (2nd button from left, top of the 01x next to REMOTE).
    Go to the right of the 01x there are 5 white buttons for
    AUDIO/INST/MIDI/BUS/AUX/OTHER. Choose INST - bring up the faders on Channels 1 and 2. Pan them left and right by clicking PAN (one the surface of the 01X in the PAGE area once, then using the knobs beneath the green screen mLAN 1 and mLAN 2 and spinning the knobs left and right), and control your master volume with the master fader. Use the headphone volume to adjust output level.
    Very important......if you did all of this, play a song from itunes see if there is audio if not you have something connected wrong.
    If you get it from itunes and not logic....then we need to look at logic!
    You need to run logics setup assitant and make sure in the controller setup the O1X is showing! Click rebuild defaults in the controller tab of logic....you should see the faders move!
    let me know....i will stick with ya till we get it working.

  • Can't establish a network with Wireless-G Linksys router and Macs

    I have a Wireless-G Linksys router and two Macs. My DSL cable is connected to the modem, the modem to the router w/Ethernet cable, and the router to a desktop Mac out of port 1. With this setup, I can usually -- not always -- connect to my wireless network with my PowerBook, but then the desktop Mac cannot connect to the internet. Either Mac connects to the internet when hooked up directly to the DSL modem. I have reset the modem. I have connected to the router's console and everything seems to be in order.The PowerBook can connect to the internet through the wireless router as described above, so there don't seem to be any Mac/PC incompatibility issues at work.My local gurus and my ISP are stumped. Any suggestions?

    Then , Connect the MACINTOSH Computer to Port 1 or
    Port 2 on the Router.Hope you are Online. Now,
    Open a new Internet Browser Page, and in the address bar,
    type http://192.168.1.1, press return, And when asked for

    Console. Now, Click the Tab " Wireless " at the top,
    Rename the SSID from ' Linksys' to your preferred name.
    Save the Settings.
     Now, Click the Tab " Wireless " at the top,

    just below the Wireless Tab,
    Set the Security Mode to WEP, Default Key as Key 1,
    Encryption Mode as ' 64 Bits10 Hex Digits ' ,
    Leave the Passphrase blank, Type a 10 digit Key
    [ can contain 0-9, A-F ] in WEP Key 1 Field alone,
    Copy the Key on a piece of paper for your reference,
    Save the Settings. Now, Make your Computer Wireless.
    Restart it. Once the Computer has restarted,
    Go to " System Preferences",
    Click on the Icon , " Network " , Set the Location to " Automatic "
    Set the Show Listing as " Airport "
    Now, Under the Tab Airport, Set it to
    By default Join  a Specific Network.
    Click the + Button to add a Network
    As the Network name, type the same name of the Network

    delecting the name Linksys.
    As the WEP Password , type a $ symbol followed by the
    10 DIGIT Number that have had copied on a piece of Paper.
    For Example, if your WEP Key is 0123456789,
    you will type it on the MACINTOSH AS
    $0123456789
    Click Apply Now button Down below.
    Now, Click the First Tab " TCP / IP,
    Check the IP Address below Configure " Using DHCP " .

  • Help needed please, with Iphone stuck with apple picture and progress bar after software update attempted

    Help needed please, everytime I try to update the software version on my iphone it comes up with a message saying it could not be completed and is now frozen with the apple picture and progress bar on it. Do I unplug it and hope the macbook pro sees it again, I also stupidly did not back up before starting the download which I realise I will have to go back to the previous back up. This keeps happening, everytime I do this type of update, I'm starting to think I should just give up on updating my software on the Iphone. I thought it was happening because I was using a window based computer to do the updates, this time I used my Macbook Pro. Please somebody help

  • Help required please. "Itunes can not read the contents of my iphone"

    Greetings all,
    I know this question has been asked before and I apologize for asking again but all the solutions provided don't seam to work for me, can anyone help me please.
    I am receving the message: "Itunes can not read the contents of the iPhone. Go to the summary tab In iPhone Preferences and click restore torestore this Iphone to factory settings".
    Now a little about my iphone, Itunes and my laptop and what steps i havealready tried.
    I have an iPhone 4 running software 5.0
    My itunes version is 10.5.0.142
    I know these are not the most up to date versions but I have had this issue for almost 3 months now and updating the software back then was the first step I tried. I don’t believe updating to the latest will fix this issue as updating the last two times did nothing.
    Every so often after starting Itunes, The program will stop responding and will require the three finger death kill (CTRL, ALT, DELETE) to open task manager to end the task of Itunes. Once it shuts down, I restart the iTunes and it runs smoothly, apart from not reading my iPhone.
    When I run a diagnostic in itunes under the help tab, I get these fail messages:
    Network Connectivity test: Secure link to Itunes store fail
    Device connectivity test: Under support services: Itunes helper is not running. And under ports: No iPod, iPhone or iPad found.
    Device Sync test: No iPod touch, iPhone or iPad found.
    *See below for full diagnostic report*
    I have restored back to factory settings twice.
    I have shut down and restarted both my iPhone and laptop.
    I am running Windows 7 32-bit on my laptop.
    I am using ZoneAlarm as my fire wall, and have been disabling it when syncing my iPhone to prevent other error messages.
    The iPhone is plugged into a genuine Iphone USB cable and is plugged into a USB port not a USB hub on my laptop, I have tried plugging it into all 4 USB ports and this issue still persist. The Cable is less then 5 months old, is not frayed or damaged in any way, have also borrowed 2 other cables from friends and still the same issue.
    The iPhone does not even come up in windows explorer as a digital camera.
    The iPhone is NOT jailbroken
    I do not live close to a so called genius bar, however I have made the journey to them on 3 separate occasions last year when I first received my iPhone for a different issue, the so called genius's could not fix the problem so they just gave me a new (refurbished) iPhone, which did not extend my warranty. I will not be taking the iPhone back to them as I believe they can not resolve many issues, this is why I am reaching out to the power of the people in the wider apple community.
    I have read in other forums about ifunbox and other programs for jail broken iPhones to isolate folders “iTunesDB” and "iTunesCDB" and delete them. If this is the issue is there a way to access these files through windows explorer as my iphone is not jailbroken.
    I hope I have provided enough information and someone can help me fix this issue. If I have left anything out, please let me know. I thank everyone in advance for your patience and support.
    Thanks

    Hi AM_Kidd.
    Thanks for your reply.
    I have done a complete uninstall and re install of iTunes and all related apple programs from my laptop through control panel, add remove programs and also by going through program files and deleting all tracers of any left over folders remove programs may have missed.
    My apologies for forgetting to add this in my original post.

  • HELP! Please with Airport Extreme

    I bought an Airport Extreme in July when I also bought my MB Pro. I finally got my CPU room done and want to hook it up tonight and after 2hrs, it still doesn't work. The LED continuously flashes yellow, which is suppose to mean no connection or signal from my cable modem. This doesn't make sense, my connection is fine through either my old Linksys router and/or directly into my either net port on my computer. Is there a setting I didn't get right or do I have a bad base station?????

  • Help required please! Netgear router to Airport Express to stream iTunes

    I have recently purchased an Airport Express and I have an iTunes account.
    I wish to stream music from a computer in one room to a Sony Hi fi in another room (not very far apart). I am having great difficulty in setting this up with instructions in the box.
    I have a NETGEAR wireless router provided free by Virgin when they put my broadband cable in. So I need simple step by step instructions on how to link the Netgear router on my computer with the Airport down on my hi-fi. I have the cable to the hi-fi plugged into the Airport and the router is working okay.
    I have spent hours on this and have also had a computer expert try to help me but he has drawn a blank. When I click on Airport Utilities the message comes up saying that it has not detected a wireless device. Scan Again! Can anybody help?

    initiate the set up using ethernet then configure the Express wireless setting. Y=As the second router you may need to put it in bridge mode. Use Airport Utility to do that.

    1) I deleted bridge-utils, netcfg
    2) I edited /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf:
    interface=wlan0
    #bridge=br0
    edited /etc/dnsmasq.conf:
    interface=wlan0
    dhcp-range=192.168.0.2,192.168.0.255,255.255.255.0,24h
    and edited /etc/rc.local:
    ifconfig wlan0 192.168.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0
    ifconfig wlan0 up
    3) I added in autostart these daemons: hostapd, dnsmasq and iptables.
    Profit!

  • Help Required: Working with relational data

    Hi,
    I'm looking for some advice
    Scenario
    We have a customer who has an SE relational database with Apex for transaction processing. They require reporting functionality and are debating whether to buy BI SE One or BI EE; they will not buy the enteprise edition database though.
    Questions
    Here are my questions:
    1. In order to use answers and dashboards, does the relational data have to be in a dimensional format. Is this reccommended.
    2. We were debating on whether to create data marts for various business requirements. Is this standard procedure for relational data (Which is not too complex)
    3. If the data has to be in a dimensional format, is this best modelled using warehouse builder or the model layer of the repository using BI Administrator. (Baring in mind that the customer is an SME using a SE database)
    The main problem where having, been fairly new to warehouse building, is that we dont know what the best path is to take when working with relational data. Do we create dimensional models? What should we use? Is a relational structure suitable enough?
    Can anyone shed light on our problems
    Regards
    Kevin

    1. In order to use Answers and Dashboards you do not need to have a Data Warehouse. It can report out of both Transactional database as well as a data warehouse.
    2. It depends on what your business requirements are. BI EE/SE1 does not require you to have data marts. Data Marts would give performance gains, would help you in visualizing the transactional data from a business standpoint, is a big plus but not a mandate. If you want to go that route of creating Datamarts, you can easily do that using BI SE1 since that gives you warehouse builder which can be both used as a data modelling tool and a ETL tool.
    3. Warehouse Builder is a ETL tool. It helps in you visualizing/deploying data warehouses in databases. But BI EE Admin tool is more of a logical dimension modelling tool wherein the facts and dimensions do not exist physically but the tool uses them to do the querying/processing.
    Since you are just starting, what you can do is to use BI EE directly on top of the transactional system for the time being. But as a long term solution you can start working on your data marts and as soon as they are ready you can port the BI EE on top of them rather than the transactional system.
    Thanks,
    Venkat

  • Maximum number of items reached in FI--help required please

    Hi,
    How to avoid the situation(error)
    Po raised for some 300 line items.
    PO consists of 3-4 header conditions and all the conditions are linked to a differrent GL account all together.
    GR to be done against PO.
    System fails to post the document because of the error 'max no of items reached in FI(since counter limit for accounting document lines is 999).
    This is most likey to happen frequently in my requirement since the POs are often consisting of 200-300 line items and alsmost 2-3 conditions minimum.
    In addition to that we have thought of going for purchase account management which means that effectively 2 more additional postings in GR.
    So all in all for every line in PO there could be atleast 6-8 accounting entries getting generated at the time of MIGO or any goods movement.
    This very commonly happens in Sales issues also and in Invoicng also.
    I have raised this issue earlier also but could not got any concrete answer.
    Many suggested to go in for split GR but how far that is advicable.
    There is summerization option but I am really not getting any que out of some notes I read and some forum postings I read.
    Can anyone suggest me a simple step by step approach for achieving this and basically how it works and would be helpful for me.
    I repeat and request you all to help me in this.If someone has already done this then please share the knowledge.
    Regards,
    arjman

    Hi,
    The issue what you mentioned is really a very painful and most complex one which we are also researching.  OSS suggested a OSS note and it didn't work.  Yes, as you  said, we have that issue in MIRO for now....I am afraid, it would comeup in MIGO as well, then, I will have no sleep, for sure....suprizingly, OSS is working very slow on this issue to my surprize.  The OSS note doesn't clearly specify what to and how to summarize.  We have different issues in MIRO....one for number of tax lines exceeding 500 lines...and GR/IR lines exceeding on another end...we thought if we can't fix tax lines, at least we can work on GR/IR lines but neither one is successful....We have this issue in ECC 5 for the past 3 months...with real good expert in each functional space in the team, we couldn't fix it yet!!!

  • Adobe Audition R6025 Virtual C++ Crash (Help Required, Please!)

    Hi.  I posted a problem about Rewire earlier but I seem to have sort of overcome that.  My problem now is that I get a crash with a dialogue box stating that AA is shutting down:
    'To continue working where you left off, please restart Audition.'
    This is followed by another dialogue:
    'Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error!  R6025 - pure virtual function call'
    And then it shuts down.
    I searched for solutions and have discovered that r6025 is a very general fault that can mean a number of things.  Here's the specific thing that causes the crash:
    If I have a session from me previous machine open, it'll play fine.  If I try to change the input to a track, that's when the crash occurs.  I can do it if I create a new session (I think - I haven't done anything complicated from scratch since I got a new PC this week).
    I have tried a few things that have been suggested on other posts:
    Reinstalling AA (a few times).
    Running Audition in compatibility mode for XP SP2, XP SP3 and not in any compatibility mode.
    Uninstalling Quicktime (as suggested http://forums.adobe.com/thread/414943).
    Deleting the Application Data backup so that a new one gets created next time (as suggested http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/403/kb403357.html).
    Disabling all plugins.
    Trying it out on another User ID.
    None of these measures have helped as of yet.  I'd really appreciate some help or some suggestions of actions I could take.  My system is an AMD Phenom II X4 945 (AM3) in a Gigabyte mainboard with 4GB RAM, running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, AA 3.0.1 and using my Audigy 4 Pro from my old PC rather than the onboard Realtek HD Audio (for Asio purposes).
    Please post if you need any more details to help with diagnosis.
    Anticipated thanks.

    Hi.  Thanks very much for the posts.  I'm aware of the 48kHz issue from previous incompatibilities with other people's sessions.  Always managed to work in 48kHz with Reason before using XP.  I've just tried the ASIO4ALL driver with the same result, I'm afraid.  Not really sure if the problem is limited to Reason because I don't own any other Rewire apps.  I'm really hoping to get this sorted out because I use Reason an awful lot in conjunction with Audition as I think they make a nice pairing of complimentary skills (lack of a tempo track notwithstanding).  I can change inputs on sessions with no Rewire tracks in them, using either Creative Asio or ASIO4ALL and it doesn't crash.  I can also use Reason quite happily on it's own.  I've even managed to create a new session with a couple of wav's and then set Reason on another track with no problems (although these sessions are very simple).  I'm really stumped.  I suppose I could try to run the whole thing in XP Mode but that negates some of the advantages of using my new computer and requires me to install everything, Audition, Reason and all my plugins, for a second time.  I will do that if I have to but that's what my Dad, a scientist, would call an inelegant solution.  Again, I really appreciate the suggestions you've come up with thus far.  The ASIO4ALL idea was a good one and I'll keep it installed too as an option for when other problems (inevitably) arise.  I'm loath to discard what was a reasonably expensive sound card (even if it is a bit dated and patently not designed for audio engineering).  In my old set up, I used the Audigy for mixing and monitoring but my MBox as in input due to it's Focusrite preamps.  Don't get me started on my MBox and Pro Tools!!!  Haven't even started to install that yet because I know it'll be a nightmare.  It's hard enough trying to install an update from Digidesign.  I'd really be much happier to get things back to the way they were - plus a much faster processor and more RAM.  That was the whole idea of the new machine.  I really love AA and have done since Cool Edit 1.2.  I'm too set in my ways to try and learn new software, not too mention too poor to buy any!!  Any ideas really gratefully accepted.

  • WRT160n speed issue, tech help required please

    I'm puzzled. I have a WRT160nV2 just recently purchased. I just noticed that my desktop, which is using a WMP300N-UK, running under WinXP SP3, is connecting to the standard channel as listed in the router's status screen, rather than the wide channel. The Linksys icon in the XP desktop system tray reports signal strength 90% speed 48Mbps. How do I improve on this? (The network is mixed, with other 802.11g devices connected, and is secured with WEP 64-bit hex)

    In the router, make sure your Radio Band is set to "wide channel".
    Also, some wireless adapters have had difficulty doing WEP at speeds above 54 Mbps.  I don't know if the WMP300N has this problem or not, but you might want to try using WPA (= WPA with TKIP), or WPA2 (= WPA with AES) encryption.  Ideally, you should be using WPA2, or at least WPA encryption anyway.  WEP is not longer recommended because it is too easy to crack, even with a 64 bit hex key.
    Also, give your network a unique SSID. Do not use "linksys". If you are using "linksys" you may be trying to connect to your neighbor's router. Also set "SSID Broadcast" to "enabled". This will help your computer find and lock on to your router's signal.
    If you still have trouble, download and install the latest driver for your WMP300N.
    Hope this helps.

    You have to keep track of what the parser reads as it goes through the document. Most of the work will be done in the endElement() method, as you don't have all the information for an element until that's called. Here's a rough draft:public String currentElement;
    public StringBuffer currentElementValue;
    public String currentStudentName;
    public String currentAssignmentNo;
    public void startElement(String elementName, AttributeList al) throws SAXException
      currentElement = elementName;
      currentElementValue = new StringBuffer();
    public void endElement(String elementName) throws SAXException
      if (currentElement.equals("STUDENTNAME")
        currentStudentName = currentElementValue.toString();
        createStudentRecord(currentStudentName);
      if (currentElement.equals("ASSIGNMENTNO")
        currentAssignmentNo = currentElementValue.toString();
      if (currentElement.equals("MARK")
        addMark(currentStudentName, Integer.parseInt(currentAssignmentNo), Integer.parseInt(currentElementValue.toString());

    To add to what Nolan said...
    Before you delete the white background from the logo, first open the Layers Palette and rename the Background layer to anything else. It is sufficient to double click the layer's icon and accept the default name "layer 0". Then when you delete the background it will be replaced by transparency (checkerboard pattern).
    Since the logo background is solid white, the easiest way to select it to use the Magic Wand tool with the Contiguous box unchecked on the options bar. Click anywhere in the white and then <Delete>:
    Note: if you don't rename the Background layer the deleted portion is replaced not by transparency but instead by the current color as defined in the Background color swatch at the bottom of the toolbar.
