Help! Rescue project from "letterbox" to real widescreen.

I have started a project with the wrong settings in "easy setup". This means that instead of 16x9 widescreen, I get the "letterbox" (black fields over and under the frame) in 4 x 3. I have a lot of work behind me, and hope it is possible to change the project to real widescreen. I changed the settings in easy setup after I had started, but that seems to be too late, it doesn't have any effect.
The setting I'm told I should have chosen in easy set up is "DV-PAL 32 kHz Anamorphic". What I chose, was ""DV-PAL 32 kHz", that is without "Anamorphic". I'm quite new to Final Cut, so maybe I haven't understood this right anyway. But still, I need my work changed to real wide screen, and hope it is not too late!
Could something be done in the exporting-process, after I have finished the project? I have iMovie ´08, if that's of any help, or could any other application be of use?

No, you don't remove the attributes before you copy. You copy first and then you paste.
And then you remove attributes. You said you added a clip to the new timeline. That's wrong. You have to remove the attributes before you can add more clips.
Copy the clips from the wrong sequence. Paste into the new sequence. Select all the clips and use remove attributes.
Your bad sequence should look like this:

DV PAL Anamorphic are NOT the correct settings for the right project. You need to use the 720p25 preset. Your media is HD not standard definition.

I was told I only needed to copy the project folder back to computer 1 since the events folder is already there. I copied project folder back to computer 1 but the files wont open. No that's not the way to do it - iMovie gets confused and in some cases the problems might be un-repairable.
You've got several problems
• iMovie'08 - CAN NOT MOVE PROJCTS - You NEED iMovie'09 or iMovie'11 - I see no other working solution
• Never MOVE or alter any folder named
iMovie Projects - or -
iMovie Events
on DeskTop/Finder - This might be very harmful
• Moving (Projects) and Events - HAS TO be done within the iMovie Application.
You've got an Evets window and here You can view Your Events in two ways - Yearly - or - Yearly per Hard disk
Here You can move within this "window" to another location
• Projects - NO they do not contain Your full movie - only a document on howto use the material in Event folder
and there might be worse if You added Photos from iPhoto and Audio from iTunes/Garageband - then You have
to get this over to the second Mac too, to be able to continue editing.
So to move Your projects to another Mac You need
• iMovie'09 or 11
• an external hard disk -
MUST BE Mac OS Extended formatted - as UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange will not work for VIDEO
Should be a FireWire one - as UBS/UBS2 performs badly when used for video
• Then move/copy over within Project resp Events window in iMovie Application
Hopefully I've been not to confusing or badly structured to be followed.

I am trying to transfer a movie project I made on my work computer (MacBook Pro, iMovie '08) to my home computer (iMovie HD, iBook). I've transferred the files using a Lacie, but when I open iMovie HD on my personal computer, it does not let me open the project I desire.
As you have already found, iMovie '08 projects, as such, are not backwards compatible with previous versions of iMovie. iMovie '08's project basically consists of a list of instructions detailing how a project is to be exported while previous versions of iMovie actually rendered physical file segments ordered properly in a physical timeline reference file.
I can import, but not the whole file, it keeps putting items in the trash. I have exported Mobile, Medium, and Large files.
Basically you have two options. You can either import your raw footage (the Event clips) and "re-create" a project in iMovie HD or export your iMovie '08 project, complete with edits to an HD compatible format (e.g., DV or AIC/AIFF) and import this file into iMovie HD. Unfortunately, this latter approach will not allow you to "manipulate" your previous edits.
Basically, I want to be able to open the file in iMovie, in case I wanted to duplicate it or edit it.
As indicated above, you can import iMovie '08 shared/exported files to iMovie HD but you then have to edit them as source files. To remove a previous edit, you would literally have to delete it from your new project in order to add another.
I also want to be able to continue burning copies of this movie slideshow to DVD (I created a DVD project using iDVD).
Previously authored and burned DVDs can be copy-burned by applications like Toast or used to create stored "image" files that can be used to burn new DVDs on an as needed basis in the Mac OS "Burn" folder or using the Disk Utility application. In fact the "image" file can also be created for this purpose from within iDVD.

IMovie HD/08: Need help merging projects from both versions.

I have some video that was imported using iMovie HD6 (saved to my internal hard drive with some editing already done) and some using iMovie 08. (Save to an external hard drive and unedited). I realized later that iMovie 08 lacks features available on iMovie HD6. I would like to move all video to my external hard drive and merge my projects. I would then like to edit the whole thing on iMovie HD6. I've noticed that I can simply drag my iMovie 08 project directly into iMovie HD6 and directly into my other project. However, it wants to save it to my internal hard drive. (No where near enough space on my internal drive for that). Is it safe to assume that if I were to move my iMovie HD6 project onto my external drive that it would then attempt to import/merge my iMovie 08 project keeping it on my external drive? Also, do I run a risk of losing any editing already done to my iMovie HD6 project if I move it to my external drive? If not, is there a right or wrong way to move it? Also, my external drive is connected to my computer via USB. Am I going to have any problems editing from my external drive because of that?

Help with project: trying to create variables from decimals

topic may be a bit unclear, but I have a project from a java course. I need to create a simple program, but hit a bit of a bump.
I have made a formula to find that the total hours equals 2.7350 which is equal to 2hours, 44minutes, 6seconds.
so to sum what I just said up, I have the number 2.7350, but need to display 2hours, 44minutes, 6seconds
now I need help of how I can accomplish this with basic java (this is my first java class).
If there is a way to leave 2 and take .7350 in separate variables, I can make some more formulas to convert that to the answer I need displayed, but I don't know how.
Please help if you have ideas

ahh, that just gave me an idea, I can't believe subtraction didn't come into my mind.
I also should have mentioned that the numbers are generated via formula and user input, so it is not pre set.
I will try something out with the subtraction idea. however, if you have a solution please post it in case my idea doesn't work.

Unles I am mistaken, the USB to AV cables are only used to deliver an AV signal to the Mac (such as a DVD player, etc) to enable the AV to be recorded.
If you want to transmit powerpoint to a projector, you need to use the displayport on the Mac. Once this is connected, the mac will automatically pick it up and set the projector up as a second monitor.
Depending on the model Mac you are using and also the avaliable connections you have to the projector, will tell you the type on connector you need.
These are DP to VGA, DP to DVI, DP to HDMI. The last one, if you have a mdern Mac, should also carry the audio signal to the projector.

If you have iPhoto '09, you cannot browse or restore seleted items from your backups. See the pink box in #15 of Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.
Mail should work, however, per the blue box there.

Help with printing projects from photoshop elements

I have been trying for a few days now to print a project from my elements 6 program and the colors are way off. I just recently got a new printer, Epson artisan 837. I didn't have this problem with my last printer. The printer prints normal from other programs, and I've tried a ton of different printing settings and I still can't get it. Help please.

In Editor, go to Edit menu>color settings
Check "Always Optimize Colors for Computer Screens".
In the printer settings, check Printer Manages Colors.
The point is that you don't want both PSE and the printer to manage colors.

Huge Issues opening projects from eSATA External RAID-Please Help!

Hi peeps. I'm hoping you guys have some insight into my issue here. I thought I get further talking with you rather than trying Dell again. Here's my system specs in brief....
Dell Studio XPS 9100
Intel i7-960 3.2Ghz
18Gb DDR3 SDRAM 1333Mhz
Radeon HD 5870 1GB (until I can afford Quadro, but has no bearing on issue)
Windows 7 Pro 64bit - all updated
Venus DS3R Pro External RAID enclosure w/ 2x500Gb WD 7200rpm Drives in RAID 0 Config (forget exact models and am writing this not from edit system but from my internet-connected system)
Running CS5 Master Collection - all updates installed as of writing.
Ok, so here's my issue. Shortly after getting new system (above) and installing newly-purchased CS5 I had to work on one new project and make client-requested changes to an old project. Issue has been the same for both. When my external RAID was connected via eSATA, Premiere would take forever (and I mean forever) to load assets, would often (6 times out of 10) crash or hang-up system so badly as to require hard reset. Those times when I finally got the timeline up, playback was horribly choppy on both HD 720p (new project) and SD (old project). If any files needed conforming, Premiere would take (literally) hours and hours to perform task, and trying to export anything to DVD, blu-ray or encodes to files I would get multiple render issues or complete failures.
I was tearing my hair out until I finally remembered that Venus enclosure also has USB (2.0) out. Hooked this up and all problems went away. Projects loading correctly and quickly and playback is what I would expect from USB and software-only playback (as I mentioned above, am running Radeon card that came with system until I can afford NVidia option)
One strange thing is that After Effects was performing fine when drive was connected via eSATA (although the projects were very simple - I will test on complex project from archive).
My question is - do you guys agree with me that it's some kind of SATA driver issue? Or is there something going on in Premiere of which I'm unaware? I called Dell support and they helpfully informed me that "all my BIOS and chipware drivers are up to date but that I should rest assured that my complete satisfaction is their primary concern". Thanks Dell...you want to come finish my edit for me then?
Anyway...what do we think? Thinking of installing an eSATA card into a free slot - good idea?
Any help would be much appreciated - would like to get back onto eSATA thruput ASAP, esp. after I get Quadro card - prob next month.

Did this external enclosure ever work well with its eSATA connection? I doubt highly that this is a Premiere issue--as far as the program is concerned, it's blind to the nature of the storage medium you're using. Rather, I'd suspect a faulty or low-quality RAID or SATA controller in the enclosure. I've had issues before with "bargain" enclosures that either wouldn't connect over a certain interface, or were so sporadic and slipshod that I just pulled the drive out of the enclosure and used it bare.
If the enclosure worked well before, I would look at the eSATA connection on your computer as the issue. You might circumvent the Dell drivers site/advice and go hunting for your own from the OEMs.

How to change project to from 4:3 to widescreen (16:9)

I have PREL 7.0 and loaded a project from PREL 2.0 and I want to change the project type to widescreen. Is this possible? I found the project settings but it doesn't seem to be something you can change.

I'm actually working on a slideshow (99% images, maybe a little 4:3 video from a p&s camera). I was hoping for a little extra horizontal room to work with (double up portrait images, panoramas, etc). If I'm understanding you right, I might be able to go ahead and work as if it was widescreen as long as I export it with the correct preset - I just won't be able to see all of what I'm doing in the process.
Is there any way to copy elements of one project to another? The thinking here is that I could start a new widescreen project and copy things over. I tried opening multiple instances of PE7 but it won't allow that. I also tried Edit -> Copy from the 4:3 project, then loading a 16:9 project and pasting but when I loaded the 16:9 project the clipboard must have been cleared (paste not available).
I've done some intricate keyframing in a few spots, so I'd like to avoid starting over from scratch but would favor of not being able to see what I'm doing when editing.

Projects from external hard drive not opening on desktop. Please help.

I use my external hard drive to create, edit and save all my imovie projects. In this external drive I have all my raw clips, events, projects etc.
My home computer is my primary place of work, and I am now trying to open a half edited project from my external hard drive on my daughter's mac. Note this project was saved in imovie 8 and she has imovie 9, although I cannot see this being an issue.
Can anyone else suggest why imovie only opens my events, but doesn't open the project in the project library. I have tried copying the .rcproject from the external hard drive to the desktop along with the events, but to no avail. Any further suggestions, I have a pending deadline.

You should be able to get this to work.
I would suggest the following:
1) Move the RCPROJECT file from the desktop to the Movies/iMovie Projects folder.
2) Use the Events on the external drive. Your project will be pointing to the external drive. It will not know how to find anything on the internal drive.
Then restart iMovie.
This should work, as iMovie is forward compatible. However, once you open the project in iMovie 09, you will no longer be able to open it in iMovie 08. (Of course, you could make a copy of it in its current state.)
I am less sure about your events. Your events will be converted to iMovie 09 format. I don't think you will be able to still open them in iMovie 08. You might if you delete all the cache and thumbnail folders and let iMovie 08 regenerate these, but I am not sure. Your best bet is to upgrade to iMovie 09 or better yet, iMovie 11 on your home computer.

FCE project will not burn in widescreen

I exported a project to my desktop from Final Cut Express HD in widescreen.
When I click on the Quicktime file on the desktop in plays in widescreen. However, when I drag the project from the desktop into iDVD's Revolution them, the project plays in 4:3. It also looks distorted.
This is very frustrating. Help please.

I am unable to open the Projects from Project center with the Alias name with the server name i am able to open the projects, version is project server 2010,
My system is ABC.DC.IN alias name i have given is DEF.AD.COM
With the system name i can able access PWA and all are working fine.
As i have observed with alias name i can able to login to pwa and all the server setting approval center all are working fine but only in the project center i am not able to open the projects (http://DEF.AD.COM/pwa/ProjectDrillDown.aspx .xxxx)
its is coming in the below of the ie.
But with Alias name these are the issues i am facing,
1.when longing with alias name its asking two times for user name and password
2.when i click on a project from project center its taking some time and asking for user name and password after i enter user name and password "PAGE cannot displayed" error i am getting.

Cannot deploy webdynpro project from SP11 of developer studio

I have recently upgraded was java from SP09 to SP11 of netweaver 2004s. I have also upgraded developer studio to SP11. Now I cannot deploy webdynpro project from upgraded developer studio. SP09 developer studio can still deploy webdynpro projects.
Please help.

R u trying to deploy an old DC in the upgraded studio? Is the same happening for deploying any newly created local webdynpro project? Create a simple local project and check if same problem occurs.
