Help! Resources not loaded.

I am trying to run a "thin" client that interacts with a server through EJB with WebStart. I get the application to start, but unfortunately none of the resources (config files, icons etc.) load. What is the easiest way to get the program to run closely or the same as it runs as a standalone application? The resources are are included in the jar file structure, and ./data/images/ is the path from the classes to the images still. If there is a way to get this to work without changing much or any code, that would be best.
Thank you,
Jeff

Well, you'll have to load your resources like this:
URL u = this.getClass().getClassLoader().
getResource("relative/from/root/of/jar/path/to/fresource/file");
// "this" has to be a class which was loaded from the same jar as your resource, if you're using multiple jars/extensions.
// or ...AsStream, whatever.AND if you're using JRE 1.3.0_02 or _03, it might not work anyways, and it especially won't work if it's loading it from the local filesystem, even with JRE 1.3.0_01, which Sun has reverted to packaging with WebStart 1.0.1_02.
Weeee!

    Hello!
I´ve a library that was implemented on LabView 5.1 and it worked fine.
Then, one day, i tried to open this library using LabView 7, and it
worked as well, but now, whenever i try to open the program using
LabView 5.1 it pops up a "resource not loaded" message.
Well, i´m lost... any help will be appreciated.

Hi osu7582, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Did it ever work on the iBook?
Is it IMAP or POP account?
Open Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities, how much Memory free & Hard Disk space does it show?
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...

Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...

  • Error message "iTunes Helper Resources not available" and saving to wrong Drive

I am trying to upgrade iTunes to 10.7 on my PC but I keep getting the error message "iTunes Helper Resources not available". Diagnostics take me a support page which talks about not being able to see the device in iTunes - but I can see the device without problems.
I thought I would try reinstalling iTunes from the webpage and it downloaded to my PC fine but when I went to setup, it showed me it is saving to a DVD drive - not my Hard drive. It also won't let me change the location for the file. I have no idea how that's happened as I obviously don't use the DVD drive as a USB (although the PC see's it as one) and I've never chosen it as the location for iTunes in the 7-8 years that I've been using it.
I then thought I'd try uninstalling it and reinstalling it (to the correct drive) but again, it comes up that the DVD drive is invalid and won't uninstall iTunes.
So I'm stuck and haven't been able to find anything helpful on the support pages or in iTunes Help.
    Please someone help ...
    Thanks.

Try the following user tip. (Probably, the section on clearing the installation database might be best given that you've currently got a drive on the problematic letter at the moment.)

  • ITunes No Longer Runs--iTunes Helper Resources Not a Valid File Name

I made a dumb mistake (I think) and tried to install iTunes onto an SD card.  At first, my computer would only let me open iTunes if the SD card was installed.  I tried to reinstall to the C drive, but keep getting the "I Tunes Helper Resources not a Valid File Name" message.  At this point I want to uninstall everything and start over, but I'm afraid I'll lose my music.  I still have all the files but, of course, none will open since I don't have a properly installed iTunes anymore.   Would appreciate any assistance in uninstalling, reinstalling and saving my current music files.

Here's what I decided to do.  Fortunately, all the files were still available, so I simply backed them up from my iTunes Music Library onto a 32 GB flash drive then transferred the new stuff onto an older computer in my office with an older version of iTunes.  I had to do this in several shifts since I have more than 32GB of music.  Everything that transferred plays well.  Next I'll try to wipe iTunes completely off the new computer, reinstall an older version of iTunes and then reload all the files onto the new computer.  What a PITA!

  • Bug - Flash CS6 Help does not load

Fresh install of WIndows 7 (32-bit). Fresh install of Flash CS6 trial. Click Help > Flash Help and nothing happens. Help does not load. Browser never opens. Nothing happens. Same with Help > Flash Support Center. Also installed Photoshop CS6 trial and that Help system does load (opens browser to online help page). Flash CS6 Help is completely dead. Anyone else experiencing this? Or better yet - how to fix it?

    Hi Lorenzo,
What locale are you trying to install Flash Pro CS6 (and hence, the Help update) on?
Also, could you please send us your error log?
Depending on your platform, it is found at the following locations:
    Win: Program Files\Common files\Adobe\Installers or \Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\ApplicationData\Adobe\AAMUpdater\1.0\
    Mac: /Library/Logs/Adobe/Installers or ~/ Library/ApplicationSupport/Adobe/AAMUpdater/1.0/

Most likely, the OCI libraries could not be loaded.
Before continuing down this path, is there any reason
why you want to use an OCI based Driver as opposed to the
all Java Oracle thin driver ?There is indeed a valid reason for my choice.
I am currently connecting to the Oracle "Rdb" 7.0 database (located on
    VMS) - not Oracle Oracle.
The SQL Service software we're currently using is version 7.1. This
version works well with the OCI8 driver (when connecting to the
database from Windows NT). This version of SQL Service however does
NOT work for the THIN driver (unless we upgrade the SQL Service to
version 7.1.5.5 - which we're not prepared to do so because it is not
stable enough from our previous test/trials). SQLSRV Version 7.1.5.5
works for THIN driver but it will result in uncommitted
transactions/unresolved connection/stopping of listener issues and
there is a need to restart the service from time to time. Oracle has
since confirmed that this is a bug that they have yet to resolve...
So we have to stick to OCI8 (THICK) for the time being. I would really
appreciate it very much if you can tell me the various OCI libraries
that I need to load (in terms of WebLogic Server config file settings
    etc..).
By the way I have already installed the Oracle 8 client software on
the NT server (where WebLogic Server is) and I have also set up the
relevant SID (using the Net8 Assistant) that points to the Oracle Rdb
database on the VMS. I have also tried using SQL*Plus to connect to
the database and I can connect properly to the database. But WebLogic
simply doesn't seem to load the software.
    Help...

  • "load code resource" not loading code

After fighting a long time, finally have a .lsb file.
I use "Load code resource" and don't receive an error nor acknowledgement.  Running the vi comes back with "Object code is not loaded" on that block.
If it didn't accept the code, I wish LabView would put up a message of why it couldn't.  Or even a prompt confirming the code loaded if it did load.
Note: I am using an evaluation version while LabView is being purchased.  Is this why I can't load code?

I did encounter the same problem, where there was no error message but
it was not actually loading my code.  I just tried creating my DLL
in Visual C++ 2003 (I don't have 2005 on my machine) and everything
working fine in LabVIEW.  I followed the instructions found on
pages 3-15 and 3-16 of the Using External Code in LabVIEW document,
    which I have linked below:

I'm unable to load Help for any Apple application (Safari, Mail, iTunes, iPhoto, etc). I get this error message: "Help isn’t available for (name of app; Safari for example)."

Sometimes just closing and reopening the Help window will clear up the problem. Otherwise, you may need to delete the Help cache.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.helpd
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder selected. Move the selected folder to the Trash. Log out, log back in, and test. Help pages will be slow to load at first.
If that doesn't work, the problem may be caused by network conditions. It may go away by itself, though I can't say how long you should wait.
A persistent failure to load help data has been reported as an issue with certain ISP's, such as the Exede satellite network. Test on a different network, if possible. I've also seen at least one report that Photo Stream in iCloud can mysteriously interfere with Help. I'm not sure whether that's true, but try disabling Photo Stream, if applicable.*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Help yosemite not loading on my IMac

    i have a 2011 IMac running 10.9.5 OS X.
when trying to download Yosemite it simply gets stuck at the downloading stage with times ranging from 4 days to 1 day 19 min but never progressing

Thanks William... That has certainly helped with diagnosis. Unfortunately I don't seem to be able to adjust any of those settings within my belkin router.
Switching the firewall off in the router does allows Google Maps (and Google images that I was also having issues with) to load in both browsers and other applications. I'm a little reluctant to do this however as it doesn't really seem like a sensible 'fix'?
    Alan.

  • Help OS not loading

    Hi,
I have reset my password by discharging cell, now when mac loads, It halts and began to display color patterns... What to do?????????

Ah… I asked whether you got a normal picture with wrong colours, or a wholly strange lot of colour patterns and nothing else, or what because it might make all the difference…
Can we guess that "sometimes strange color patterns started to take hole screen…" means there were no recognisable words or icons, or what please?
Is there nothing intelligable at all, at any stage?
When the Mac doesn't detect the CD, did you try starting with the "C" key held down?
Resetting the password should not cause any problems, but why did you want to reset the password in the first place, please?
Was the Mac booting normally before, or what?
Which cell did you discharge and how

  • Acrobat X - Online help does not launch

I'm using Acrobat X, version 10.1.0 on Windows XP and IE 8.
When I click Help, the browser window opens, but the help does not load. How do I fix this?

Thanks - Note that I did try searching for a solution on the Internet and in the forums, but didn't find the article because I used "launch" instead of "display".
I'll have to use one of the workarounds in the article because I cannot open the help from the Acrobat Help menu.
