HELP RESTORE MY iMAC PLEASE!!!!!
Sorry but very frustrated here. My hard drive on my 320gb original drive is full so I had a 2TB put in. I have a wireless back up on Time Machine, the old hard drive in an external inclosure and an external hard drive back up that I used Carbon Copy Clone. When I follow instructions for restoring with CCC, I never seem to be able to select the right files when I click on the back up drive. When I try using my Time Capsule, I insert the Snow Leopard install disk, reboot to the Utilities area and it never shows me any of my back ups, it just says something to the effect of search for Time Machine back ups and never finds anything. If you can help, please respond with idiot proof step by step instructions. I really appreciate the input!!!

You want to start up from the clone, then clone back to the new HD.
First, make sure the new drive is formatted properly. See #1 in [Formatting, Partitioning, Verifying, and Repairing Disks|http://web.me.com/pondini/AppleTips/DU.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Using Snow Leopard+ forum). Start from your Install disc, per the yellow box there.
Then quit Disk Utility, select +Startup Disk+ from the Utilities menu, and start up from the clone.
Then start CCC and follow it's instructions to copy the clone to the new HD.
That will be much faster than trying to restore from your Time Capsule, even via Ethernet, much less WIFI.

Help me restore my iMac please.
Okay there is something seriously wrong with my iMac and I don't have any type of support left from Apple. My iMac has been running really slow lately and even freezing when just having Firefox and iTunes open it's ridiculous. I'm trying to just restore and start out fresh, but my iMac won't restore! I have put in both my original Leopard disc that came with my iMac and my Snow Leopard disc and my computer just won't boot them. My optical drive reads and writes discs just fine normally.

I'm also trying to reformat my hard drive to one partition and not that 5 that it some how has become. http://imgur.com/IpqVx.pngI did create a new user and password for the fresh install. It prompted me to do that. And there was a Home icon with my username next to it. The user name is different to the user name on the back up volume.
It still didn't work. All the applications were copied but the desktop wasn't.
It said at the end of the procedure that it had been successful and would I like to quit. So I quit.
I don't know why it won't migrate. I didn't upgrade any software this time.
When I was installing the OSX disc (after erasing the hard drive), it said toward the end of the process, would I like to put files on it. And it gave me choices, Time machine, another mac etc. I said "Yes" but I only have one USB port on my computer and the install disc was attached to it through the USB port. So I disconnected the install disc and attached the external hard drive, because the message was "You can connect the other drive" or something like that. But it didn't recognize it so I just gave up and reattached the drive with the OSX install disc and went back to the installation stage that I was at and chose "Do not do it now, do it later" or something like that. Then it took me through the last few steps of installation. And after it finished, I used Migration Assistant and it still didn't work. I still have an empty Desktop though Applications successfully migrated. I don't know why I can't get the same desktop as my backup volume. -

Let me start off saying thanks for reading this and hopefully someone on here can help me out! So my problem is I had left my iPad at my vacation house for quite sometime and I just got it back today. I have many different passcodes (one for my iPhone, one for my iPod and one for my iPad) and I had forgotten what it was for my iPad. I tried many different ones but I just kept disabeling my iPad for hours and hours. I know it was dumb of me for not writing it down somewhere, but lesson learned. Anyways, I decided to put my iPad into DFU Mode so I could try to restore it. Once I placed it into recovery mode, I hit restore on my Mac and everything was going great until this messaged popped up:
I have done tons of searching online to see how to fix this but all the ways have not worked. This is mostly because in my hosts folder, I don't have any errors.
Now I am stuck and I have no idea what to do. My iPad will not turn on since it's in DFU mode and I am not able to resotre it so I really need help! If someone could help me, I would really appreciate it. I know it was dumb to set it into DFU mode but it was my last resort and I know not to do it again. If you know anyone that coiuld help with this problem, please have them answer this because I really need help as soon as possible, I apologize for sounding desperate. I am facing wifi and mobile 2G signal issue after upgrading to IOS 6 from IOS 5 in IPhone 3GS. The mobile carrier signal as well as WIFI suddenly drops zero and are then restored automatically. Sometimes i cannot conenct to WIFI even standing infront of WIFI router. Please help, restoring setting even didn't helped.
Update: my phone's connecting to the WiFi again. I don't know what did the trick. I did nothing since reinstalling the software. It hadn't worked then, it is now. I tried connecting to my dad's phone's hotspot( he uses a Moto G), and it worked. I then tried connecting to the WiFi at a friend's house, and when I came back home, my phone was able to connect to my WiFi! Is it of any significance that my friend's router doesn't require a password? My issue has been resolved( for now; I hope I'm not counting my chickens before they've hatched). For anyone facing a similar issue, I suggest you try everything I did:
1. Turn your router off for a minimum of 30 seconds, turn it back on and try connecting.
2. Click on the WiFi network you are connected to, scroll to the bottom, tap "Renew Lease".
3. Do a soft and hard reset.
4. Reset network settings.
5. Back your data up, erase all content from settings menu, restore from backup.
6. Reinstall your software( put it in recovery mode).
I am not sure which of the above worked for me. Make sure you try everything. If none of the above works, take it to a genius bar or an authorised service provider. Good luck! :) -
I tried restoring my iMac 27" slim. I followed the steps erased my data then to reinstall osx mavericks. Now that I'm trying to reinstall osx mavericks for whatever reason it doesn't completes. Can you help me out?
That's not quite the proper way as far as I can tell. Usually, one boots directly into the Recovery HD using COMMAND and R keys at startup. If you cannot do that then most likely there is a problem with the hard drive. Since this is a new computer i would make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

i have an iPhone 4 that is stuck in a recovery loop. i try to restore it but it comes up with an error code (-1) towards the end of the restore. can someone please help me?
i just baught it off someone.. so im unsure if it was jailbroken or not.. and i dont think its under warranty now.

Trying to reset/restore my daughters ipod, but no matter what advice I get, nothing works. There is no summary tab on itunes to restore/reset. PLEASE HELP!
Without knowing current status of the iPod:
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
