Help restoring an older 2003 database.

Trying to restore to a recovery storage group from arcserve to an exchange 2003. This is an old system that has been retired but we need the data from tape so I fired up the machine.
Our backups have 4 DBs.  Each of them I am able to restore successfully except for one of them so I am pretty confident the problem isnt arcserve.

  • Restoring error message 2003

    I'm trying to update my iPod touch from version 2.2.1 to the iOS 4.1 software and everything was fine until an error message popped up saying it could not restore my iPod. The error message was #2003 if that helps. Oh, and now I can't even use my iPod.. the only screen it's showing is the one that shows the iTunes icon with the USB cord pointing at it saying it to plug it into iTunes. It is plugged into iTunes and won't restore. Can anybody please help?

    This older post attributes that error to a hardware problem.

  • How to restore SQL Server 2008 database to SQL Server Express 2012

    How to restore SQL Server 2008 database to SQL Server Express 2012.
    I BACKED UP a SQL Server 2008 database from work, which runs the enterprise version of 2008, and I tried to RESTORE it to my new 64-Bit home PC which is running the new SQL Server Express 2012 64-Bit (Advanced Edition).
    But if fails. I get the following message text.
    Can anyone help me please. I thought restoring a 2008 database to the later version 2012 would be possible.
    Here is the error message. Thanks.
    TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
    Restore of database failed. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.RelationalEngineTasks)
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
    System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: The database was backed up on a server running version 8.00.2039. That version is incompatible with this server, which is running version 11.00.3128. Either restore the database on a server that supports the backup, or use a
    backup that is compatible with this server. (Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoExtended)

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
    System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: The database was backed up on a server running version 8.00.2039. That version is incompatible with this server, which is running version 11.00.3128. Either restore the database on a server that supports the
    backup, or use a backup that is compatible with this server. (Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoExtended)
    Are you sure your database is SQL server 2008 from error message it seems your SQL server version is 2000.I guess you have multiple versions of SQL server.
    AFAIK you cannot restore backup of SQL server 2000 to 2012 directly .Restore it first to SQL 2008/2008R2 or 2005 then take backup again of new database created and then you would be able to restore it on 2012.Its kind of intermediate way
    Also make sure your DB size is less than 10 G as max DB size supported by Express edition is 10 G and if your DB size is more than 10 G restore will fail.
    You are also trying to restore enterprise DB backup on express edition so you will loose enterprise features on express edition

  • Restoring No Archivelog Mode Database

    This is only for testing purposes>>>
    Is there any way to get a database up and running if the database is in no archivelog mode and their is a datafile missing?
    Suppose your full backup is missing that 1 datafile also, but you have a full export of the database from the same time the backup was taken. Can you restore tablespace from an export file?

    Thanks, I found this information about running in NO Archivelog mode and Losing a Datafile
    "ALTER TABLESPACE ...OFFLINE IMMEDIATE or ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE ...OFFLINE is only allowed if database is in ARCHIVEREDO LOG mode. You should use the 'alter database datafile 'xx' offline drop', which just takes the datafile offline in the controlfile. This allows you to open the database and the next step should be to drop the tablespace. This will remove information on the file from the data dictionary. Since you are running in NOARCHIVELOG, your only option is to drop and recreate the tablespace. If not much activity has occurred on the database since then, you can try recovering it using the online redo log files. If they haven't been written over, this may work. Whether the datafile is offlined (archivelog mode) or offline dropped (noarchivelog mode), the definition remains in the database until the associated tablespace is dropped."
    This information was very helpful as it allowed the database to open.

  • HELP RESTORING MY APERTURE PHOTOS

    ok ill try to explain this the best I can...
    I am trying to restore photos in aperture threw TM.  When I enter TM I click on my external HD where the backups are saved on the bottom left.  I search to a date on one of the folders I want and search threw it until I find the Aperture logo and I right click it and select browse file.  I then search until I find the photos I was looking for.  When I try to restore that specific folder to my desktop all the photos are crazy small files.  they should be huge like 17mp each.  ok so I go back to the aperture folder restore that date cuz I know the pics i want are in there, well when the folder gets restored to my pictures and i open the library in aperture those pictures are no where to be found.  A lot of other pics are there but not the ones i saw in a sub folder in TM.  Not sure how to restore those and was wondering if Im doing something wrong.  PLEASE HELP CUZ THEY ARE MY HONEYMOON PICS AND THE WIFE IS ON MY CASE:)  THX!!!!!

    First: are your Masters Referenced on Managed?  I will assume they are Managed (the Masters are stored inside your Aperture Library).
    Others may have a more refined plan.  Until then, you might try this:
    Make a separate back-up of your current Library (copy your .aplibrary file to a second location).
    From TM, restore an older version of your entire Library file to a new location (not the one it was backed up from).
    Open this Library, select the Images you want, and export them as a Library, including Masters.  Close this Library.
    Open your current Library and import the just-exported Library.
    Discard the restored-from-TM Library.
    (Totally optional: Stop referring to your wife as "THE WIFE".  It's disrespectful, even when none is intended.)
    Good luck.

  • Restore of older backups

    Good Day,
    I have a Blackberry Curve 9300
    How can i restore older backups?
    I have seen that you can only backup a maximum of 3 times via Blackberry Protect before it gets replaced by newer backups
    I have backed up a very important  conversation and cannot restore that conversation as it has been replaced a newer backup
    How can i restore the older backup

    Hi and Welcome to the Community!
    Refer:
    KB25063 How to use BlackBerry Protect to restore data to a BlackBerry smartphone
    Protect does indeed have limitations (for which there is no way to overcome, btw -- though the limitation is 4 backups, not 3)...quite naturally so, since an "unlimited" approach would certainly not be feasible. Further, Protect is only one portion of a good backup process...see the link in my auto-sig on this post for a full backup process that would allow you to retain as many backup versions back as you have local PC disk space for.
    Good luck!

    the whole process that how to restore the CDC enabled database backups (FULL + DIFF) on a different machine.
    Create a database named ’CDCTest’ in SQL Server 2012, then enable the CDC feature and take full+ differential backups of the database.
    -- Create database CDCTest
    CREATE DATABASE [CDCTest] ON  PRIMARY
    ( NAME = N'CDCTest ', FILENAME = N'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA\ CDCTest.mdf' , SIZE = 5120KB ,
    MAXSIZE = UNLIMITED, FILEGROWTH = 1024KB )
     LOG ON
    ( NAME = N'CDCTest _log', FILENAME = N'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA\ CDCTest _log.LDF' , SIZE = 3840KB ,
    MAXSIZE = 2048GB , FILEGROWTH = 10%)
    GO
    use CDCTest;
    go
    -- creating table
    create table Customer

  • How can I restore an older version (before the sync)?

    I'm using Numbers on my iPad and my Macbook.
    Yesterday I opened my Macbook and for some reason it opened the Numbers app but didn't sync.
    I didn't really need to work on the file so I just left it open.
    A few hours later I wanted to do some work on my iPad.
    It prompted me with a "there's a newer version on your Macbook" and asked me if I want to sync to that version.
    I actually forgot I didn't do any work on my computer and tapped on the sync button.
    Now I lost all of the information since before the sync.
    How can I restore the older version on the iPad - before the sync?

    From your last backup.

  • I am facing wifi and mobile 2G signal issue after upgrading to IOS 6 from IOS 5 in IPhone 3GS. Please help, restoring setting even didn't helped.

    I am facing wifi and mobile 2G signal issue after upgrading to IOS 6 from IOS 5 in IPhone 3GS. The mobile carrier signal as well as WIFI suddenly drops zero and are then restored automatically. Sometimes i cannot conenct to WIFI even standing infront of WIFI router. Please help, restoring setting even didn't helped.

    Update: my phone's connecting to the WiFi again. I don't know what did the trick. I did nothing since reinstalling the software. It hadn't worked then, it is now. I tried connecting to my dad's phone's hotspot( he uses a Moto G), and it worked. I then tried connecting to the WiFi at a friend's house, and when I came back home, my phone was able to connect to my WiFi! Is it of any significance that my friend's router doesn't require a password? My issue has been resolved( for now; I hope I'm not counting my chickens before they've hatched). For anyone facing a similar issue, I suggest you try everything I did:
    1. Turn your router off for a minimum of 30 seconds, turn it back on and try connecting.
    2. Click on the WiFi network you are connected to, scroll to the bottom, tap "Renew Lease".
    3. Do a soft and hard reset.
    4. Reset network settings.
    5. Back your data up, erase all content from settings menu, restore from backup.
    6. Reinstall your software( put it in recovery mode).
    I am not sure which of the above worked for me. Make sure you try everything. If none of the above works, take it to a genius bar or an authorised service provider. Good luck! :)

  • Help restore 30684 messages in Apple Mail inbox

    I had opened another thread where in I had e-mail accounts two using IMAP and one using exchange 2010.  For some strange reason around 12/21/11 all of my inboxes disappeared without a trace.  That day mail was being sluggish activiity monitor was busy but I did not realiize realize what it was doing until too late.  None of my messages showed up in the trash or deleted messages folder, they all just went straight into a black hole.   With the two IMAP mailboxes I was able to do a time machine restore of a backup done on 12/20.  These mailboxes only contained a few thousand so it was relatively quick an hour or so each.  After the restore I moved the messages from the local recovered folder to the inbox all is happy.  When I tried doing the exchange inbox with 30684 it would hang on the restore.  I would select the inbox then launch time machine.  I would go to the date 12/20/11, the inbox would start a count of the inbox contents ultimately ending up with 30684 messages.  I would then do a cmd-a and it would select all 30684 messages and in about 2+ hours the daisy wheel is done selecting and a message would pop up on the lower pane and say something like "click on the restore button to recover 30684 messages."  I would then click on the restore button and leave it.  I've left it as long as a week and it was just stuck there and I had to force quit mail.  I tried that process again and would leave it over night the next morning it would still be stuck at that last screen when I clicked recover but the time machine disk has stopped popping the popcorn. It would be totally stock and only thing I could do was force quit mail.  Clicking on cancel or anything else would not respond.
    Please help restore 30684 messages tell me about a finding a work around.  I can browse backups so there has to be a way to get them back...
    one example is this

    I need help restoreing my ipod nano 3rd gen so its like new

    Plug it to your computer using iPod USB Cable (any cable should work excluding iPhone 5 and Shuffle cables)...... when you see your iPod in iTunes go to that iPod and click restore...... the whole process should take (depending on what you have on your iPod and its is up to date) it should take no longer than 30 minutes...... then it will ask if you want to set up as new iPod or restore from back-up (itunes back up), since you said:
    so its like new
    click set as new iPod and follow through what they said.

    Mission accomplished. While waiting for your reply,. I found an article that mentioned a copy/paste of the following code from the old pref.js to the new pref.js:
    user_pref("ldap_2.servers.OutlookExpressAddressBoo.position", 0);
    user_pref("ldap_2.servers.OutlookExpressAddressBoo_1.description", "Outlook Express Address Book");
    user_pref("ldap_2.servers.OutlookExpressAddressBoo_1.dirType", 2);
    user_pref("ldap_2.servers.OutlookExpressAddressBoo_1.filename", "impab-1.mab");
    user_pref("ldap_2.servers.OutlookExpressAddressBoo_2.description", "Outlook Express Address Book");
    user_pref("ldap_2.servers.OutlookExpressAddressBoo_2.dirType", 2);
    user_pref("ldap_2.servers.OutlookExpressAddressBoo_2.filename", "impab.mab");
    That identified the impab.mab file, and now all my contacts are showing.
    Here is a link to the article: http://nctritech.com/thunderbird_contact_groups.php
