  • Skipping problems on Satellite M645-S4050

    Hello,
I have a Satellite M645-S4050 and I I bought it in July of this year.
I've noticed that if there is something playing on my computer, whether music (on itunes) or a video, and the laptop is moved (even if the desk it's sitting on is bumped slightly or I put my elbow down too hard) it skips like the old walkmen used to. Once or twice it has even gotten stuck like a phonograph. I brought it in to where I bought it and the guy said that it was the way the new software was made in a lot of the faster hard drives and the only way to do anything would be to buy a more compact hard drive and transfer everything.
But I notice it getting worse and I am disinclined to believe him because the point of a laptop is to have a modile computer. I cannot even listen to music or play minesweeper in the car because the skipping is so bad it messes with how the computer functions. Is this true and is there anything I can do to fix it?
    Thanks,
    na

    Hi na,
I agree with as*** and if you have HDD protection utility, you should be able to reproduce this issue: Just move your notebook a little bit. You should notice this skipping problem again.
As far as I know in options of this tool, you can change the sensitivity. Choose a lower value, maybe it helps! :)

  • Satellite M645-S4110 Network drivers missing

    Hello!
I'm trying to restore the network drivers for this model, but I can't even get connected when I have an ethernet cable connected directly to my modem.  I'm using another laptop entirely to post this question.  Please help!

In case you're doing a clean install of Windows 7, it's unlikely things will work out unless you install drivers in the right order.
Best to restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media. All the drivers and utilities are properly preinstalled. Windows is preactivated.
If you failed to burn recovery discs, you can obtain them from Toshiba. Scroll down to Get Recovery Media here .
For instructions, see the section Restoring from recovery DVDs/media, which begins on p. 72 of the User's Guide.

  • Satellite M645 - How to reset the touch buttons?

    Hello everyone.
I have a Satellite M645 with Windows 7 / 64 bit and recently some of the touch buttons have stopped working. These include the eco utilities, wireless, lighting, play/pause, mute and touch pad on/off button. Strangely the volume up and down work fine.
All the buttons are lighted all the time and when touched they go off (as regular) it is just that the function they're meant to do is not done.
For this I found a similar threat (http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=248139&#248139), but when trying to install *Toshiba Value Added Package* and *Flash Cards Support Utility* from the website the file I download can't be installed as I get this message:
"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows is running. Check the computer's system information to see if you need an x86 or x64 version of the program and then contact your supplier."
I've tried installing both (x86 & x64) but neither of them work. That's it for now, I really appreciate any advice or side solution you can give me.

    Hey,
Where have you downloade Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility? I have done a Google search and it seems that Satellite M645 is an US model and therefore all drivers and tools can be downloaded here:
    http://www.csd.toshiba.com
Make sure you download the correct version of VAP and Flash Cards Support Utility. That means if you have Windows 7 64bit you have to download the 64bit version too.
Another question: Have you installed all other drivers like chipset?
Also try to load the default settings in BIOS and test it again.

  • Is it possible to install a 3G SIM card reader to Satellite M645-S4070

    Hi there!
I have Satellite M645-S4070 laptop with serial no. YA153766K.
It is WiMAX ready and also has a SIM card slot but does not have a SIM card reader.
I took a slight look inside and it does have something that has "3G" written on it.
Would it be possible to install a SIM card reader to my laptop?
I know, that I could also use a 3G USB modem but it would be a lot more convenient to get connection without additional devices around my laptop.
    Thanks!
    Taros

    Hi
As far as I know there are models which supports 3G or Intel 4G WiMAX
    Your unit supports 4G (WiMAX)
Im not quite sure if its possible to upgrade this unit with an 3G module but if it would be possible, this needs to be done by Toshiba authorized service technician.
By the way: your notebook belongs to the Toshiba US series and was released for the US market therefore I recommend checking the Toshiba US forum:

  • Touch sensitive multimedia buttons don't work ! (Toshiba Satellite M645-S4050)

I've Toshiba Satellite M645-S4050. My multimedia touch buttons don't work except Vol+ and Vol-. All of them are making sounds when I touched but no action! 1) I uninstalled Toshiba Value Added Package (TVAP), 2) rebooted the machine, 3) installed TVAP then 4) rebooted again. But nothing's changed. 5) I reinstalled all Toshiba Utilities includes Assist and Flash Cards but same result. Also 6) I unplugged the battery and AC adapter because of static energy issue possibility and 7) choosed the default settings from the BIOS menu. Still same ! What am I supposed to do ?

If it's under warranty, I'd send it back to Toshiba and have them fix it right this time. It took 2 repairs for the Depot to fix my problem, by replacing the mother-board.
Call customer relations and try to get it sent to Toshiba "VIP" Tri-Star repair facility in Garden Grove CA 92843, they repair it when their regular service tech's can't get it right the first, or second time.
Fix it now, or it will be a hassle for you as long as you own it.

Unfortunately, you have probably wiped out the Toshiba Recovery partition on your HDD when you used the Windows 7 64bit retail disk to reinstall your OS. As well, it sounds like you never made a set of Toshiba Recovery disks before this mishap. The info for all this begins on page 61 of your Satellite M640 Series User’s Guide.
Using the recovery utility would have rebuilt your HDD to its factory default out-of-the-box state, including the recovery partition, Win 7 64bit, all Toshiba drivers and utilities, and all software your system originally came with. If you do not think you wiped out the recovery partition when you reinstalled Windows, then while powering on the system you could try holding down the '0' (zero) key until you see the Toshiba Recovery utility menu. If this doesn't work see this article:
Pressing the Zero Key While Powering on the Computer Does Not Start the Toshiba Recovery Wizard
If none of the above works, you can still order a set of recovery media from Toshiba, which I would strongly recommend. Rebuilding the recovery partition, and having a set of recovery disks for backup, could save you a lot of grief on this, and on any future rebuilds.

However, if your recovery partition won't work and you are unwilling to order a set of recovery media, then see these instructions and use this utility:

  • Need help Satellite L855D-S5220 win7home prem 64bit crashed no recovery disc,no recovery partition

I bought 2 toshiba Satellite L855D-S5220 Home Premium 64 bit  laptops at walmart back in july 2012,also bought extra 2 year protection from walmart.
Laptops didn't come with dvd recover disc ,but did have partition recovery.
We upgraded to windows 8 through one of the cheap $14.99 online offers
I still have bank receipts for everything.
Windows 8 was just to new and different for us, also got a fake microsoft call saying that our systems were showing several virues and corrupted files.
The guy seemed legit,I allowed him acess to my computer, after he showed me several hundred errors and ask for $250.00 I reliased that it was a scheme, and said no that I would call microsoft to inquire about this, the guy then erased almost everything in my computer, and hung up.
I didn't really like windows 8 at the time, and was nervous about someone maybe having access to my computer ,so we checked online about going back to windows 7 home premium 64 bit.
I was in a microsoft forum or at least i thought ,I asked about going back to Windows 7 home premium, and was told to simply hold 0 and restart the computer.
This worked.,but left a number string of #'s and lettere Like Ti064WOC (C) systems, and anther systems folder under that in sytem protection.
Then a couple of days ago my computer crashed
I tried the ) start recover out of the box and it ran all the way through but did not set up,it erases all my partions
I then made the mistake of trying to install a windows 7 home edition 32bit that I had just bought to upgrade my old dell windows xp.
It loaded windows 7 home premium 32,on the 64 but it will not connect to the internet it says it can;t find wireless drivers ,I tried to connect it directly to the wireless network ,no lu
It currently shows three partions New volume (A)1,46 GB capacity 1.43 free space NTFS Healthy (primary Partition),Partion # 2 is (C 581.38 GB NTFS Healthy (Boot,Pagefile,Crash Dump<Primart Partition, capacity with 562.63GB free space

My question is can we use the other toshiba L855D-S5220 windows 7 home premium 64bit to burn me a cd or dvd to recover my windows operating system
I have valid product key and my toshib is registered.
I am not tech savy but I have a friend that can help me ,if I can only get pointed in the right direction as how to start.
If we can use our other computer ,what do we need to download and what do we do about the windows 7 home edition,32 bit,do we format all the partions first.also I have
an ISO and an ESD diisc that i burned when I had the window 8 home pro.
Since I have two of the same computers, can I use the one thats running at the moment to get the other one straightened back out.
I also have a windows 8 64bit repair disc that I made When I upgraded to windows 8,THe ISO ,ESD disk is from the windows 8 upgrade
but when i insert them it saws windows can no open because they are 64 bit arcitect.
    Could someone Please Help Me

  • Help: Satellite A215-S5808 Shut Downs

Help:  My Satellite A215-S5808 will shut down sporadically during usage.  I have upgraded the BIOS as suggested but to no avail it continues to happen.  I have even done a full system restore and continue to have the same problem.
When my notebook shuts down, it just goes down without any warning.  I can have only been on the laptap for as little as a 1/2 an hour or for as long as 6 hours.  It can be pretty frustrating as I taking online classes.  When I go to power back up at first it would power back up pretty quickly when pressing the power button, but here lately it seems to be taking longer (meaning I have to wait a few minutes before attempting to power back up).  The other day I heard a clicking as I was trying to power up.
Anyway....I am wanting to replace my CPU to see if that is the problem, and would like to do an upgrade of the CPU when replacing.  I have searched and searched but don't know what I should be getting to replace my:
    AMD 64x 2 dual core TK-55 1.8 Ghz, 512 kb L2 cache 1600 mHZ processor.
I would greatly appreciate someone's assitance.
    Thanks in advance - Rachel

You hear ticking when you try to boot?  This and the slow progression of symptoms makes me think this is more likely the hard drive failing than the CPU.  Processors are pretty hardy unless they're in a machine that lets them overheat.
I'd do an HD diagnostic w/ Seatools.
If you really want to upgrade your CPU anyway, you might be able to use the TL-66.  Specs and pins are a match, but double check that.  Honestly, not sure it would be worth the trouble, with the of cost of better systems with iCores at the moment...

  • Recovery disc starts then stalls?? Please help. satellite L305-S5865

I have a satellite L305-S5865 that has never had a visrus or been misused. It has just been driving me crazy beacause every time I restart it I have a 50/50 chance of having to roll back my sound drivers. So I decided to buy the recovery disc to restore to out of box and what do you know,
it freezes after about the first 20 mins. I have left it like this for hours. To test this and it is the same, no matter how long I let it set. Waste of $30? At this point I think so. On top of the $ I spent on the laptop and the other laptop I bought that is satellight that overheats so bad it can burn your legs.
Will take to real computer tech and have fixed.
    Help, ideas welcome.
    Money back?
    We will see come Monday.

Have you tried just starting the recovery procedure again?

  • Satellite M645-S4050: built in camera does not work correctly

My built in camera does not work correctly.
It does not have any kind of effect on and it captures pictures and videos as if some kind of thermal camera was on.
Also some videos I load up on youtube look like this.
I have been researching for an answer but can't find it, please help me.

All you can do is to test it with latest webcam driver.
Remove preinstalled camera software and install latest version offered on Toshiba download page.
If the same happen again visit nearest Toshiba service and show them how it looks like. Maybe the cam must be exchanged.
In the past I have used several Toshiba laptops with built in cam but I have never saw something lke this.

  • Satellite M645-S4050 Techinical Problems

I currently bought this laptop 3 months ago within the late august and it was working fine. After the first week having it, the laptop was having problems. For instance, the backlit buttons on the laptop (the lit icons above the function numbers) would constantly turn on/off by itself. In that result it would make my volume for the laptop control go constantly up and down. Also it would disable my internet connection when i am currently doing nothing. Another problem that is occuring is constant movement. If i currently move my laptop just a tad bit, it would freeze or slow down what i am currently doing. Would some one please tell me what will help me fix these problems I am currently having. Mostly likely there are other people who probally have the same problem as i am having right now.

Right up to the mention about simple movements locking the machine, I would consider this might be a software problem. The only other thing I can think of that *might* possibly cause this is the "Hard Drive Protection" utility. Have you tried temporarily disabling this? Actually, try booting the machine in "safe mode" and see if you can still reproduce the locking. If you still get the same result, try booting to the HDD recovery partition by holding down the "0"-key and then see if you can reproduce the locking. This should eliminate any software related issues. If yous see the problem even after booting to the HDD recovery partition, I would strongly believe this is hardware related and will require a visit to the repair depot.

  • Laptop Help Satellite A55-S326

Hi I need to replace my hard drive and I can't get the hard drive cover off the bottom of the laptop. I have searched and followed links but they are not for this laptop and it's just not working for me. can anyone direct me to a link that will show how to remove this. all help is much appreciated Thank you Lee

    Turn the laptop off.
    Unplug the AC adaptor.
    Remove the battery.
Depress and hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain the system of any residual charge.
    Remove the hard drive cover.
    Take out the hard drive.
Swap the hard drive caddy from the old drive to the new drive.
Put the new drive in the laptop.
    Put the cover back on.
    Replace the battery.
    Power up the laptop.
Hit the f12 key to access the boot menu.
    Open the DVD drive.
Put the first Recovery disk (or your operating system install disk) in the DVD drive and close it.
Select DVD as the boot source.
Follow the prompts to restore the system to it's factory out of box state or to install your OS.
You'll need either a #1 or #2 phillips screwdriver for the drive cover and either a #0 or $1 Phillips for the drive caddy.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

Getting to be such a common request these days.
I have a Satellite L775D-S7206 in which the hard drive died.
I replaced it with a 128G SSD and a new copy of Windows 7.
I have everything up and running great but I do show one Error and that is on the SM Bus Controller.
Can someone point me in the right direction to this driver?
      Thanks !

Best to restore the new drive to the original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media. That way you needn't struggle with drivers and utilities. And Windows is preactivated.
If you failed to burn the recovery discs, you can order them.
       Order Toshiba Recovery Media
Home Premium already includes Pro and Ultimate, BTW. It's only a matter of unlocking the features.

  • Help: Satellite A30 101 Power utility

    Hi Tom,
Thanks for the comments about missing *.dll error message. Let me tell u, when I first go to system tools menu I see that "scan disk" function is not there. I search surprisingly it was not there. Can you guess what may happen?
When I try to uninstall the "Toshiba Power Management Utility" as you suggested, It tells me that the source is on the web. I cheked the tools CD, the toshiba power Saver is empty. The installer asks for some *.msi file (package) which I canNot locate from the web and the CD. What should I do?
Please help me. I am a new user for laptops and know little about hardware/software stuff.
    Many thanx,
    Dejen

    Hi,
I had read the whole topic very interesting. It seems the best way as Staffano said to use the Restore function of XP. You could find it in the Start Menu - programs - accessories - system tools - System Restore.
It would be helpfully that you know when the problem occures the first time and choose a restore point before!
This would be the best way!
When this doesn't solve the problem and you don't want to do the other suggestions (if you are not safe to do it safe your data!!! because it could perhaps be lost!!)
you could also do a fresh installation with the recovery CD from Toshiba then it should be working! (But after a recovery the whole data will aslo be lost, safe it before)
