Help! Saving a PDF out of Illustrator and the PDF is cropped on the right and bottom. Artboard size is fine.
We're having a weird issue with Illustrator that rarely can be replicated. When we're saving a file as a PDF, sometimes the PDF gets cropped to the right and bottom and we're not quite sure why it's happening. Sometimes we'll just go an open the Illustrator file again and re-save and it's fine. Other times we may need to re-start the computer or re-start Illustrator and it's fine. Other times when we do all of the above, it still crops the PDF. I'm baffled as to what's happening.
We're running 10.6.8 OS X and this is Illustrator CC.
This is in Illustrator CC Version 17. It is fine when you open them back in Illustrator. I have also noticed that from Illustrator if you do a 'Save As', select PDF, then select one of the PDF presets (I use 'Press Quality) the resulting PDF when opened in Reader displays how I want it, with the artwork as it was positioned on the Illustrator artboard (not cropped). If I then open in Illustrator again, make a change to the artwork, and select 'Save' (not 'Save As') when opened back in Reader the file is cropped again.

Hold down the 'ctrl' key and scroll backwards on the mouse.
Then go to System Preferences > Universal Access > Seeing. Turn off the Zoom feature.
Similarly in Sys Pref > Mouse uncheck the box for 'Zoom using scroll wheel…'
If it still occurs after that there may be a corrupt .plist file. -
Maybe someone can help me, it would be greatly appriciated. The first Apple ID I created was fine,until I entered a credit card with a low balance. Now I can't upgrade apps, or even d/l free apps.

When I try to do a CC update I get an U44M1I210 error message, "Update failed - Unable to extract the downloaded files. Press retry to download again. (U44M1I210)" - help please - re-downloading makes no difference, applies to latest Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop CC, others seemed to update without problems. I can see the disk image files in AAMUpdater folder but they will not open and come up with "couldn't be opened - resource busy" message.
Yes Jeff, I did all those several times to no avail.
I've included a small error snippet from two installs here. In Creative Cloud when updating the Apps, all 3 get to 50%, then the failure occurs. Retrying starts at 50% and fails the same way each time.
This first one is a segment from the Indesign updater - I have always had the all hard drive folders with read and write privileges allowed and I checked again, this is still the case so I do not know why this particular error message is arising. The second snippet if from the Illustrator update.

Help!! "timed out network connection" at the end of the iOS5 update for my 1st generation Ipad.
I have been attempting to update my first generation Ipad to iOS5 for two days. I continue to get the message "network connection timed out" The updates have been for 3 hours, 4 hours, 30 minutes, 20 minutes and now 10 hours. They all download and at the end when the file starts processing the timed out message pops up. I have disabled virus software, did not work. I have used the internet at both home and office, hard wired internet, wireless internet.........nothing works. Deleted temporary internet files. Very frustrated. What am I doing wrong?
When you get anything that says your network connection timed out it either means you lost internet connection or there is something blocking the connection between the computer and the servers that it is trying to connect to.
If you have a solid internet connection and can browse to websites fine it's either an anti-virus program or a firewall on the computer OR a firewall in the router's settings that you use to connect to the internet.
Reconfigure any security software to allow Apple's servers to pass.
Useful information for configuring your security software:
IMPORTANT: iTunes must be allowed to contact Apple using the following ports and servers:
▪ port 80
▪ port 443
▪ phobos.apple.com, deimos3.apple.com, albert.apple.com, gs.apple.com, itunes.apple.com, ax.itunes.apple.com, ax.init.itunes.apple.com, ax.phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net
iTunes uses well known ports and these ports may need to be opened for iTunes: 80, 443, 3689, 5297, 5298, 5353, 8000-8999, and 42000-42999.
iTunes also contacts VeriSign servers during an iPhone restore and activation:

Temporarily disable or uninstall your security software
If the current available version of your security software is incompatible with iTunes, you can disable the security software and test if it is the source of the issue. It might also be necessary to temporarily uninstall security software after making sure you can reinstall it and note any required licenses. A temporary deinstallation might be required because parts of some security software remain active in the background though they appear to be deactivated.
To reduce any security risks that security software is designed to prevent, consider making sure all files needed to reinstall it are available and disconnect network connections before uninstalling security software. Should this not be possible, such as if a download without active security software is required, that required step should be the only process completed without security software. For assistance in checking your configuration, disabling, or uninstalling your security software, please contact the manufacturer.
Once disabled or uninstalled, perform only the steps required to verify your issue has been resolved. Complete whatever update, restore, syncing, back up, activation, or other task you were troubleshooting. Once that task is complete, install and configure compatible security software to ensure your PC is protected.
If it isn't a program or software on the computer contact your Internet Service Provider and/or Router Company to configure or disable the firewall in the router settings.
To isolate the issue to this you can also try disconnecting the router and plugging your computer directly in to the modem but this does not help for troubleshooting time-out issues directly on any apple mobile devices only if you are syncing or going through iTunes on the computer. -
Right mouse button does not open any menu when clicked inside of tabs or windows. Works properly on the toolbars, in the address line, search bar...etc. but has no action on the page I'm browsing. I purchased a mouse recently and like the old one, the right button works in all other areas of my operating system. I would like to know if there is a setting in firefox that I can change to correct this.
There are also websites that can disable the right-click context menu.

How can i find out which Macbook is the right one for me?
I am looking into buying anew laptop and I'm currently considering a macbook as oppose to a windows laptop. which one is the right one for me?
1. I will be using it for my work at college and university so it will need to have a reasonable amount of storage and have the correct programs.
2. I use the internet alot.
3. I have an ipod touch so i will need storage for my music.
4. It will need it to be quite quick.
5. It will need to support some software that i use on windows.
Also, do you think a macbook is what i need as oppose to windows. what are the pros and cons of the macbookProngs wrote:

This is the most important question. I would check with your school. They may have a recommendation for what you need and the software you will need to use. They also may have a discount program for you to purchase your computer. If not Apple does have an education discount plan to give you a break.

Hard to give an answer for this as we have no idea what your going to be using or what your school requires you to use. My sons college had specific programs he had to have. -
On the old Firefox 3.0 I had a 'connection scale" on the bottom right hand corner (just above the time) which shows you the extent of connection. I also had icons on the top left hand corner of a 'home' for home page...etc. On Firefox.4.0 these are missing. Can they be obtained by the "settings"?

I've created a .pdf file ,but when i open the file,after i've created it ,it displays the left toolbar with the preview of all the pages of the entire file.
The question is: How can i save the file in a way that it only displays for me the images without the "pages" en the other stuff on the left side of the page ?
I'm using a pc with acrobat 9.2.
On my pc i've managed to remove the toolbar,but when i try to open the same file on other computers it's back there again.
I need this file to be sent for email,but my boss is really getting anoying about that toolbar !

Help! Sound went Out on HDTV and Surround
I have an LG HDTV, Blu-Ray DVD, Surround Sound and Cable Box connected along with a Harmon all in one remote control. Everything was working fine last night and then no sound. The DVD sound works. The TV "test" sound works (but I cannot get the sound to work through the TV speakers if I turn off the surround sound). I have tried plugging and unplugging the HDMI cable. I can't figure it out and need help! Thanks.
Click once on your desktop and then hit F1. When the help window opens type in sound. You should be able to try some of the articles to determine what is causing the issue.

Metadata not included when saving for web out of illustrator.
In Illustrator I'm using "save for web" to generate a png copy of an Illustrator file. The Illustrator file has copyright metadata, but when I check the png copy the copyright metadata is missing.
Why doesn't the png copy have the same metadata as the original file? Shouldn't the metadata be passed along when using "save for web"?
I applied the metadata in Bridge using the append metadata command.well that's buggered that. here is its tombstone:
"The Output Settings dialog box, used to control HTML file formatting, slice naming, and background image handling, has been removed."

Example 1 - Yahoo email 'inbox' page.
The font size of the list of emails in my yahoo email 'inbox', is about 8 (that is very small). In fact it is everything in the 'inbox' window except the adverts.
The font size used to be 12 which is bigger and more easily readable.
Example 2 - 'My ebay' summary page.
To read the list of 'activities' to choose from on the left of the 'summary page' I have to scroll down for ages until the second activity appears and then scroll down for ages again to get to the third activity and so on. It's as though the summary page was 20 meters long.
All the activities used to be on the left when I opened the summary page.
It is as though some setting has changed with out me knowing. I don't know if this is relevant but I think it might have happened after I accepted a Java update.

Saving as PDF with crop marks.
I'm trying to create a Printready PDF from my Structured FM file. I recently upgraded to FM9.
With earlier versions of FM we've had issues with colours not exporting correctly from FM, and I've had to print .ps files, run a colour correction script and then open the files as .pdf. Due to a limitation of my colour correction script I could only print 5-10pgs at a time. Which made the process very time consuming.
I pitched the upgrade to FM9 to my boss because when I initially tested the trial version and used the 'save as PDF' function, the colours came up correct without having to use the colour correction script.
HOWEVER, now that I'm trying to create printready PDF's of my document, via the save as PDF function, I'm not getting crop marks/registration marks on my files.
On the PDF Setup Dialog box I have 'Western' choosen under Registration Marks. (Screen Shot attached)
Initally I thought it could be because I had the page size set to the exact page size I wanted, but I've tried making the page size bigger and they still don't seem to appear.
Hopefully this is an easy question and I've just missed something simple!Caveat CMYK!
Unfortunately, it's still not completely reliable. There are issues with quite a number of OTF Pro fonts not rendering correctly, and with spot colour tints and table fills that use spot colours.
The upgrade to from COlourChameleon to PubliPDF may be still worth considering...
Also, with your crop mark issue, how big is the page size compared to the output size that you specifed in the PDF Setup? You have to add at least 1cm to the page size to give it room to place the crop marks. -
Tried to download Firefox 4.0. Window where I drag icon to applications folder has a line and a circle over the Firefox. when I attempt to drag it to the folder, it says there is a newer version already there and do I want to replace it. When I replaced it with your new download a window came up that said I don't have the proper architecture to run this. I am using Mac 10.5.8. Please fix this! I'm in the middle of planning an art exhibit and need my Firefox!!!!
