Help - Schuffle is not linking
We just got a second generation schuffle. The schuffle is not recognized by the computer. We have XP. I have plugged it into every usb port and it does not recognize the schuffle. Do I have a bad schuffle?

I tried to email you back to let you know I got it fixed, but they do not have and email reply.
Use the link from deggie. One thing I watched as I was doing this is that the usb port I was linking to would flip back and forth in Computer Managment from the Other Devices to the Universal Serial Bus controllers. I had to uninstall and reinstall about 6 times before it took. The device should show up in the Universal Serial Bus controllers and will automatically start the iTunes. As soon as you see the iTunes software fire up just wait. It takes about 3 minutes until your computer will let you know the device is linking. Good Luck. Mine is for my kid, as well. How many times do they come and ask are you done yet. LOL

I started my first Apple ID a few years back, at which point Google hadn't changed their email addresses from '@googlemail.com' to 'gmail.com'. So when this option became available, I decided to change my email to '[email protected]', instead of the older and more tedious to write '@googlemail.com'. There were no problems, everything worked as expected.
I've recently changed my password everywhere, and one of the places was my Apple ID. I was taken to the site: "https://appleid.apple.com" where I found the 'Manage my account' link. I successfully changed my password.
The 'Apple ID and Primary Email Address' caught my eye. It had always frustrated me that my Apple ID was the "old" email address from Google... and previous attempts to change this proved unsuccessful. It always stated that the (newer) '[email protected]' was already in use, which I put down to it being the same Google account. But this time it seemed to work. I received an email saying "Welcome to the iTunes Store", and since then I've had non-stop problems.
At first I though that the only problem was going to be that I couldn't download/update apps on my iPod touch, or download anything on the iPod's 'iTunes' store. I've managed to link my new account with the iPod so that I can download new apps on it, but every time I go to update an app, it automatically assumes that the Apple ID is my old account: '[email protected]'. I thought that this would be fine, just a minor inconvenience, that I could go to my computer, update the apps there, then sync the iPod and everything would be dandy.
I looked around and found myself at the IFORGOT site of Apple's. I've tried having an email sent to the 'older' Apple ID '[email protected]', but no email has come through, and I also tried the other option of answering security questions... the first thing it asks is your date of birth, and as far as I know, I only have one of those. However, it told me my DOB was incorrect. My old account no longer seems to exist!!
I tried updating the apps on my computer for the first time today, went to the 'Apps' tab on the left of iTunes and clicked the link saying '131 Updates Available'. This took me to the iTunes store as always, but when it had finished loading, it read: "No updates are currently available. To check for updates for another Apple ID, sign in with that Apple ID."
Because all of the apps I downloaded were on my old Apple account, none of them exist as far as my new account is concerned. My old account no longer exists, so I have no option to sign in to that and update them. My collection of apps is far too large for me to even consider just downloading them all again! As well as apps not existing, my iPod touch is not linked to my new Account. I understand I could restore my it so that it would then be linked to it, but actually, I don't want to have to arrange the homescreen again, and re-connect to all the WiFi connections I've already made. Those are all saved in the backup that is updated when it is synchronised.
Someone please help!! I don't know what to do, and I don't know how to get hold of Apple!!

Why did you start a new account?
You apps and other purchases will always be tied to the accoutn from which they were purchased. You will have to update them using the user id and password on the accoutn from which they were purchased.
The charge was very likley a authorization hold and will be removed.

Do you have a Sony Vaio? Many Vaio owners have seen this exact problem. There is some Sony media management software often preinstalled on Vaio systems that causes a conflict with iTunes saving its library database file. See this Apple support article:

It's not impossible that other media software on other systems might cause the same problem, though I haven't heard of any specifics.

Help I clicked a link in an email I thought was Amazon about an order cancellation. I do not have virus protection. Am I in trouble????
Not likely. More likely is that this was a phishing attempt. If you did not type your name and password into a web page dialog requesting it then you do not need to concern yourself with anything. Merely clicking a link in an email may have loaded a page in Safari but if you simply closed that page you're OK - especially if that page said you were infected with something. You were not.
If you did type your name and password then change it in every account that uses that password.
Run Software Update to make sure you have all available updates. OS X already contains all the virus protection you need.
At present there is no way for a virus attached to an email to affect your Mac. -
my ipod wont connect to itunes, i have re-installed itunes ...reset my ipod...re-boot my computer...basically i've done eveything i could but no joy it even shows on my computer but simply does not link in to my itunes. Please HELP !!!
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

Button Not Linked but Properties Menu says it is Help Please!
On one of my menu previous buttons I have linked it to the menu it needs to go to. I have verified this several times in the properties menu. Yet everytime I go to check the project in build it tells me it is not linked. In fact it does not work and I can't figure out why. I have tried to clear it recreate and position the button and relink it but no luck. I am only having this problem with this one button. I am stupmed any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anyway I looked in the flow chart and saw it was not linked so I link it and now it seems to work, This is my very first project in Encore so it is a big learning process. I am going to burn this to disc now and see how everything goes. Quick question for you if you don't mind. Do I need to render the project everytime before I create a dvd or will the settings stay as long as I don't alter the project?

Need Help: Pics not linking with edits
Hope I can be clear here...
I changed the top folder - deleted it. Mistake on my part, learned my lesson. This made the corresponding pix in LR go red - LR can't find where the original files are. My LR edits are still there though if you click on "develop" on any of the red files.
Is there a way to link my work to the files? Where are the file changes stored? Can I override this mistake? When I reimport the files they do import but do not link up with my LR edits.
SO, my database is a long list of red files with no top level folder. Underneath that long list is another long list of active files with the top level folder but no LR edits. I need to sync my original files with the LR edits.
Two years of work! Need to fix this. Ack. I refuse to let this go. There must be a way to fix this.

JessicaI think I may have a new insight. it's not so simple b/c a hard drive died and i had to relocate the images to another hard drive. the red folders, with the edits, is referencing a dead hard drive. the white folders, below it, which are all the same folders and pics, references the new active drive.
i think i need to know how to find the edits. to answer the other question, i did try to load the backups but it didn't work. i think they were too recent and were backups of the current drive.
what i think i need to do is find the old drive with the edits, but once i do, do i try to find the backups and then drag them to the new drive? i'm perplexed.

Help viewer does not work after update to 10.4.4
Since updating to 10.4.4 my Help viewer does not work, and all of the troubleshooting fixes suggested in other threads have not had any success in resolving this. I've noted that when I go to Users>Library>Documentation>Help there is no mac.help file - can someone tell me if that means that I've lost the file altogether and need to reinstall it? I get to the first screen of the viewer, but the links from there don't work. Thanks for any help that you can provide!
Thanks for your suggestion. I downloaded OnyX and ran the cleaning function. After restarting, I opened Help and once again the first screen appeared fine. But again most of the links did not work, though those under the "What's New" heading did work. I might add that I had previously tried a variety of suggestions posted in another thread, which included deleting from the caches folder in Home>Library several files such as com.apple.helpui and help.plist in the Preferences folder. (As noted in my previous post this evening, I also created another user but that also did not have any effect.) Any other ideas? Thanks

Check if the data is there in the data target on which your report is based.
Check to see if this data is available for reporting.
Check to see if you have auth to view this data.
Check if there are any filters or restrictions in the query that would prevent the data from being displayed.
Check the data through LISTCUBE transaction.

ICal events disappeared (not linked to MobileMe or iCloud)
Hello,
I run iCal 4.0.4 with MacOSX 10.6.8.
I recently noted that all events before 6 May 2011 have disappeared and I don't know why.
The preferences are not set with the 'Delete events ?? days after they have passed' (the box is not ticked).
I did a test yesterday looking if the events where disappearing but that is not the case, so this morning events after the 6 May 2011 still there.
My iCal is not linked to ModileMe or iCloud in any way.
Where are the events before 6 May have gone? Can I retrieve them? Would events continue to disappear?
Any help is much appreciated.
ThanksYou need to ensure that each device (including the MBP) is using iCal from iCloud (NOT a local version of iCal). Using the MBP as an example, click on the Calendars icon in the upper left corner and look for something similar to the following:
If it does not say ICLOUD at the top, there's your problem. Post back and we'll go from there. -
I moved my iTunes files from my old computer to an external hard drive. I then moved those files to the new computer. My computer and iPad are not linking up (recognizing each other?). I installed the latest version of iTunes onto the new computer to see if that would help. It did not--I got the message that an iPad can only be linked up with one computer and the new download would not work with this iPod. So the iTunes' library and my iPod are not connecting, and I have no way of installing or removing new songs onto my iPad. What should I do to correct this?

HELP - BBM does not work on Playbook (Bridged)
Hi Folks,
Looked into other threads but all problems seem to be related to older versions.
I am new to the whole Blackberry Lifestyle.
Currently own, Playbook (wireless) and Torch 9860 for about two weeks - enjoying them independently.
ANY HELP would be appreciated.
Just tried the Bridge function but the BBM does not work.
It is funny cause my Playbook does get a notification for any BBM I receive, the remote works, the contacts can be seen on playbook but when I click on BBM notification it I get a message "Your Version of Blackberry Messenger is not compatible with Blackberry Bridge. Download the latest version of BBM to use it on your playbook.
I did what I normally do - googled it. Found out the specs and I do have all updated apps.
On my 9860 I have
7.1.0 System
Bridge 2.0.0.35
BBM 6.1.0.55
This is not linked to BES or anything - purely personal.
I have already restarted my phone and playbook with no luck.

Have you tried updating to the latest version of BBM™? If not, I would recommend trying that by going to www.blackbery.com/bbm from your BlackBerry® Browser.

Our Windows PC crashed with all our music on it. There are copies of both purchased (thru iTunes store) and from our own CDs on an external HD in a backup file. They are not linked to a Media file. Is there any way I can put this music on my new computer?
