Help ! Screen Capture sound every 30 seconds

Hi all I need help! Last week in the middle of my work day nothing special, the system started playing the camera shutter / screen capture. I started timing between the shutter, every 30 seconds, very annoying - the camera shutter sound - same as the shift-4 screen capture sound and same as the sound that occurs when you press the back button in terminal. I have a 15 inch mac book pro. 2009 model.
I wondered whether someone had installed a hidden shell script or apple script program and is capturing my screen and maybe sending it over the net.
I have checked activity monitor and did not notice any programs running like "screencapture" or anything else like that. I have also turned hidden files visable on, but i can't find any screen capture directory or files: .jpg, .pdf, .png files I should be seeing lots of them for every 30 seconds per capture. Back to terminal here is my dump from ps ax command:

Please any suggestions??? as you can imagine im pulling my hair out. Please any ideas before i have to reinstall everything again i just finished a re-install. My last system had the Isight camera turning and flashing randomly now this...am i a victim of mac hacking???

Make sure the sound is coming from your speakers and not from your hard drive, by muting the speakers. If the sound continues, it may be your hard drive's heads parking (which shouldn't happen every 30 seconds either, but that's a very different problem). If it doesn't continue and is therefore exactly what you think it is, I'm as puzzled as you are.

I have also installed little snitch, nothing strange seems to be going out by way of connections. Only dropbox, i have deleted that but the noise still keeps going. I will have to reinstall again....any ideas pls.

I am trying to capture what I was playing on my computer using Java code. It's apparently different from capturing sound input through microphones. How can I manage to do this? Actually, while I play a song or something like that on my computer(server), I wanna capture it and send them to other computers(client) in the LAN.

Thanks in advance!Ummmmm, you'd probably need to set your recording device to be "System mixer" and then it would work just like capturing from the microphone.

Quick Time screen capture freezes when i'm working with Modo 3D. Any solution?

Hi guys, When I'm working with Luxology Modo, Quick Time screen capture freezes every time on Mac OS X Mavericks. When I'm doing some operation in Modo, like slice geometry per exemple, QuickTime crashes. I must force quit quicktime and when I relauch the application, the screen capture opens but screen capture ends at the time when I cliked on the Modo slice operation. It's frustrating because I can't do nothing with screen capture. I tried other screen capture applications but the problem persists! When I was using Snow Leopard Quick Time works very well!! Do you have some resolution for this problem? Regards, César.

I'm using OS X Mavericks as well, and it seems like the same thing happens when I try to type in MonoDevelop, part of the Unity package. Unity works fine, it only seems as though I can't screen record typing in MonoDevelop. It looks like it's still recording, it just has the rainbow wheel of death after I try to finish out the Quicktime. I left it up for several days and ignored it, but it still didn't finish. I finally had to force quit it and reopen it and when I did it opened up the temporary file of the video I was recording, but it stopped whenever I started to type into the MonoDevelop interface. The first time it let me save the video to the desktop. The second time, the time which I left it open for days, it would not let me save it, on command-S or on exit. I don't know exactly what's wrong, but I believe that you know as much as I do. Please post a reply if you need any more information or have a fix.

Screen Capture to FCP

I am working on a howto video for my college. i need to show students how to get rid of viruses on their pcs. i'm doing all of the editing on FCP but i need to take screen captures of the pc to show them how to start and remove viruses on the scan. I'm having a hard time getting the images to look good in FCP after i do a screen capture at every step.
which leads me to my question...
At what monitor resolution should i be doing my screen capture at and at what dpi should i be using? what image format does FCP prefer the best? how can i make clean images in FCP where you can read text in the image.

Pixelated or 'blured'? Doesn't really make sense that reducing an image's size would cause it to pixelate, normally that occurs when you increase the size.
Have you tried doing a prieview render to quicktime to see if it's only a display problem within FCP? Have seen issues like that before but the end product has been pretty good, even though FCP shows the images as being choppy.
If you have a decent image manipulation program (like photoshop) try reducing the screenshot's size before importing it into FCP, that'd be the way I do it. I see that you have said you 'tried making the image that exact resolution' but it didn't seem to work. How did you re-size the image?

Screen Capture avi - HELP!!!!!!!!

Hello All.
Please someone out there must know the best answer to my
problem:
I need to create a presentation to be used as a trainning
guide.
I am flexible (to a degree) on how to do this, although the
tools in my bag mean that i have used SnagIt to capture the screen
in an .avi format. this looks great when played no probs.
When I add this avi to a flash file (basic, which has a
control for the film and a frame etc) I can publish this to a swf
file, again all seems well, I can then embedd this into a
powerpoint presentation ok.
This all works ok, except for a blur between screen changes
and new windows, they seem to start blurred and then scharpen up.
My real problem is the Screen Resolution when playing this
presentation back on different P.C's.
As we all know every user has diferent seetings. So how can I
cater for them all????
I read somewhere that it is best to capture the film at the
lowest possible screen res and it will destort going up, although
not as bad as he reverse.
So please can anyone gide me through this???
As I say the video contains lots of test which is simply
unreadable using the process above.
i have played with changing the codec which just made the
film Super Size........

So I have been doing some more homework and I took Harm's suggestion to get Camtasia. Thank you for that, I love it. It is quite versatile and looks great(It should for $300). So now I am able to produce a screen captured video that is workable though I am having a couple of issues still. The Dv/NTSC standard of 720x480 PAR .9 is not the easiest to match up. I have output my camtasia video as an AVI, 640x480 with a PAR of 1 and set it to 30fps, I also set my premiere project to 30 fps. The AVI file I created is about 14 gigs as the movie is 9 minutes long. I tried importing it but only the first 2 minutes of the video come into the project which makes no sense to me. I am getting low on Hard Drive Space ~30 gigs left of 320, so maybe there are safeguards in the machine or program which won't let me use the whole file as it would bring me too close to the limit(don't worry, I'm getting a 1TB external drive later today). So now I am pondering my options and again asking for help.
My first question is why would a 9 minute avi cut itself off to 2 minutes when imported into premiere and how can I get it to import properly?
Second question, perhaps I am approaching this the wrong way, is there a better way to make a tutorial video with the screen captured AVi that I now have? I want to do some fancy stuff with AE an PP to make it shine but neither seem very willing to comply. What I'm considering is just producing an intro and ending separately and then importing the finished videos back into Camtasia, even though their transitions are kind of basic, it would work I think.
I am going to be using this alot as I have 12 different lessons to create so if Harm or anyone else wants to offer suggestions on the best way to approach this and/or fix my importing/compatibility issues, I would greatly appreciate it.

Trying to increase the sound of recorded screen captures

Hi. I'm making screen capture movies with Snapz PRo 2 and they are being saved as QT movies on my desktop. When I open them in QT and try to increase the sound volume, the setting don't stick if I try to raise the volume over 0db. I read somewhere that QT won't let you save volume over 0db, is that true?
If so, does anyone know how I can increase the gain on the movies without having to load them into Final Cut or iMovie? Is there some program that will let me just edit the sound of a QT movie?

Hey, thanks for the tips. But... I don't think I'm making myself clear here.
I don't want to spend ANY time in post with these tutorial screencasts that I'm making. If I did, I'd just whip out my Sennheiser and my mixer and take the whole shebang into FCP and cut it and sweeten audio there.
What I'm doing is using Snapz to capture screen actions that I'm recording as tutorials for my students. I'm using either a Blue Snowball USB mic or my Logitech 250 USB headset with mic to record my voice as I demo apps on the Mac. Snapz is using the Apple animation codec to make the movies. But, what Snapz is not doing and cannot do is help me boost the audio a bit. If it did, then I'd have a finished movie right there. As it is, I have to wait a long time for Snapz to finalize the flick. What I don't want to do is load the film up in FCP (takes time) and then export it (also takes time) and be done. I want to package these things up fast. All I need to do is boost the audio a little and everything would be great. If Quicktime Pro allowed me to do that, that would be great because it would not have to re-encode the movie again.
Maybe there is no way to do what I'm asking without doing it in FCP. If that's the case then that's what I'll do.
THe whole point of this is that I want to keep it as simple and as past as possible because I am not making any money doing this (but I am teaching for money). I offer it to my students as a value added addition to their classes.

Mac screen goes black every 2-3 minutes, returns after 1 second, Mavericks

My MAC, updated to Mavericks, screen goes black every 2-3 minutes, for one second, then returns. Has anyone experienced this? How should I correct it?

SOLVED!!!!!
SO I did some more digging around and read ATI cards seem to overheat easily. I knew the fan was working, but after closer inspection I realised there was ALOT of built up dust on the card and clogging the fan and airflow. Blew it out with alot of compressed air, stuck it back in the Mac and BAM...no black screens. I tested it by streaming 6 video sources...doing 2 screen captures at once as well as watching a HD movie in fullscreen. Did all this for 30 minutes and no crashes. I also downloaded an app to monitor the temps inside the computer and the expansion bay stays at 41 degrees. No clue what it was before but obviously it was hotter than that. So my problem is solved! Funny that 10.7.5 made the card work harder. I wonder if its off loading some CPU stuff to the GPU for processing more than 10.7.4 so its just working a bit harder and so it heats up faster....

Chime sound every ten seconds or so in quick time for pc

Getting a "ding-ding" sound every 10 seconds or so when quicktime pro is open. any one know the answer to this one?? Thanks. Jay

fixed. download loaded latest version. Actually had to do it twice. The first time fixed the chime problem but gave me a green screen on playback. So, I downloaded again and used the "repair" button on install, and everything seems to be working ok.

MacBook Pro won't boot - stays on black screen and beeps every few seconds

Hi,
My MacBook Pro has been having issues - when powered on wont boot past the white screen and more recently will just stay on black screen and beeps every 5 seconds. I had someone look at it and it seems apparently the motherboard is the problem
and either needs fixing or replacing. As I am traveling in Nicaragua the closest apple store is in Managua (capital). Would I be able to get the motherboard looked at and replaced if need be at this apple store? Also, does anyone know the approximate price for the motherboard to be replaced? Up until a few days ago the laptop was still turning on and working every now and then but now stays on black screen and beeps.
Any advice would be very helpful!

It means that your Mac's memory is damaged > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2538?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
First, replace the memory modules. You can buy more memory at OWC or Crucial. It can also be replace by a reseller.
If it doesn't work, the RAM slots are damaged, so your logic board has to be replaced. It costs more than a half of the price of your MacBook

Bell Sound, after Screen Capture

When I do a screen capture (Shift/Cmd/3 or 4), in addition to the camera shutter sound, about 3 seconds later, i now hear a bell.
I've had the MacBook for 3+ years, and I believe this is something recent.
After the keystrokes, I get the shutter sound, about 1 second later, the icon appears, and about 2 seconds after that, the bell.
This is on both my MacBook13, and MacBook Pro (10.6.8)
Can I eliminate the bell sound, and keep just the shutter sound ?

Problem recording sound during screen capture

Hi
I'm having a problem when recording screen captures in Windows XP SP3 in Boot Camp.
There is almost no sound. There is a very low sound level being picked up from the microphone.
The screen capture software I'm using is Capture Solution by SProsoft. I get the same result when using Windows Media Encoder, so I don't think it is a problem with the capturing program.
There is no problem with Windows XP making the sounds as I use it. It is just that I cannot record those sounds.

Hi ya I solved it..... I brought it back to the shop I got my phone in and they gave me a brand new one.

has the video been completely downloaded onto your MacBook Pro when you start to play it? Or are you playing it while it downloads, AKA streaming it?

My Macbook Air shut down on the screen and is making a beeping noise every second. I tried charging it up unsuccessfully.

Please help. I was watching netlix last night and my computer just went dark. It began making a beeping noise every second. It would not turn on or all the way off. I tried charging it which changed nothing--not the screen nor the beeping.

if its continuous it cant be every 3 seconds, logically
1 beep = no RAM installed
2 beeps = incompatible RAM types
3 beeps = no good banks
4 beeps = no good boot images in the boot ROM (and/or bad sys config block)
5 beeps = processor is not usable
hardware fault regardless. Still RAM
dead screen, no SMC reset possible, ergo:
Contact Apple for appt. for free diagnostics and drop off at your local Apple shop.
