[HELP] Search engine
Hi all, I have just joined this forum.
I am currently writing on my thesis about implementing NLP (natural language processing) for an intelligent search engine. The fact turns to be the NLP in Java is not available yet, so in conclussion of my thesis i want to demo the search engine using Java in servlet. Does anyone know where i can get full code that i can use? i asked my advisor and he is ok with this, as long as i do not publish it.
I do not use the code for commercial use, only for demo purpose until i found the java NLP library.

in other words you have discovered that it doesn't exist and then go on to ask the usual homework question "giv mi ze koduz", assuming that what you just stated you found doesn't exist does in fact exist and that someone will just give it to you for free, which would of course if it happened void your earlier conclusions.
So what will it be?
Either you conclude that it doesn't exist in which case there's nothing to demonstrate, OR you admit your conclusions were wrong, it does exist, and you just couldn't find it.
Or (3rd option) you decide that the fact it doesn't exist is something that can and should be corrected and fund a project to work towards that.
And no, we're not here to do your homework for you.

As far as I know, search engines read source code. In that
regard, Spry Data in general will fail since, the content is not
kept in the source code.
Check out the data set overview about the spry:content
attribute. That is used so that pages are more accessible and it
helps search engine stuff as well.
It allows you to have static content on the page, but
spry:content will replace that content on the screen with its data.
So this allows for content for search engines to read, plus
the dynamic aspect of spry data.
But in general, Spry and Ajax, doesn't yet play well with
these other technologies.

I downloaded an upgrade to my adobe reader today, and ever since my search engine has switched to yahoo and wont change back to google. I have a macbook pro, help please? Does anyone know how I can change this back? I have tried through my settings but it doesnt work

If you are using Safari as a web browser :-
Open Safari, go to Safari menu > Preferences > General, and put Google as the homepage. Then, choose Google as your default search engine.
If you are using Google Chrome as the web browser :-
Open Google Chrome.
In the top right corner of the page, click the Chrome menu Chrome menu > Settings.
In the "Search" section, select Google from the drop-down menu.

I Downloaded something onto my computer and now when I click onto safari yahoo pops up instead of top sites I know certain changes come along with downloading but if there is a way back to top sites and google as my search engine I need it!! I'm not one for change and I love the whole original display that the macs have to offer when you first get your mac so thats why I really want top sites back also it was great when your in and rush and so much easier!! Please HELP immediately this is urgent!!

First of all, forgive me cuz I'm probably NOT the sharpest "chip in a laptop" but I use Internet Explorer as my ISP(I've heard that GOOGLE CHROME is soo much better??) and Google as my search engine. For some reason(I know, probably USER idiot!!) even though I have set in my "internet connections" tab, www.google.com chosen, the minute I click a new tab to look for something else, that dreaded "about blank" or maybe "blank page" comes up.....wtheck???? It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

You can check if you have the ZoneAlarm search engine file in the browser\searchplugins folder in the Firefox program or in the searchplugins folder in the Firefox profile folder.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
You can delete the search.json file and possible search-metadata.json and search.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder to reset the search engines to the default.

Firefox will rebuild the search.json file from the default search engines in the "browser\searchplugins" folder in the Firefox program and the searchplugins folder in the Firefox profile folder. -
Since updating to 3.6.1 I don’t get an empty browser window in my tool bar when it opens --- just a list of search engines. I can’t find anything in “Help” or the FAQ’s that seem to address this.
My only choice seems to go back to Safari.I am not sure what your problem is, can you give more details.
One possibility is you may be in full screen mode, for details on fixing that see the [[menu bar is missing]] article.
If you are missing various toolbar items, see the [[back and forward or other toolbar items are missing]] article.
If your problem is something else please give more details. -

I was attempting to use google to find information. Google stopped working for at least half an hour. I decided to plug the ipad in to recharge as the battery was below 50% and left it. Later, On restarting the ipad I discovered that the search engine was, and still is, working.
I have heard that previous updates have caused problems to iPads etc and considered that this might have happened with this update, despite being unaffected on previous updates.
My ipad is fully working now but I am curious to know why it happened as it has never stopped working since I purchased the ipad 18 months ago.

<Edited by Moderator>1. To publish to .Mac just mount your iDisk and go to Web/Sites/ and you will see your old site there. Delete that site and just copy your new site to the location.
2. Just press the load from iDisk button in the toolbar and enter your username and password. Your sites from your iDisk will load in iWeb SEO Tool. -
After updating Firefox . I notice Yahoo has taken over as the search engine on safari . I have gone into safari and changed the default browser and home page to google but yahoo is still there . Can someone Please tell me how to get rid of Yahoo . peter
Since I looked everywhere for this answer and never found it I decided I needed to help!
1. GO TO THE TOOL BAR WHERE IT SAYS SAFARI AND CLICK TO BRING DOWN THE MENU OF OPTIONS, CLICK ON PREFERENCES
2.INSTEAD OF JUST CLICKING ON THE GENERAL TAB AND CHANGING THE SEARCH ENGINE LIKE EVERY OTHER STUPID SUPPORT TELLS YOU TO DO LOOK AT THE TAB THAT SAYS EXTENSIONS.
3. Chances are you downloaded something that was made by a third party to "enhance" your web experience but really they just screwed you over, YOU CAN CHOOSE TO SIMPLY UNINSTALL ANY EXTENSIONS PUT ON YOUR COMPUTER BY CLICKING INSTALL, BUT TO BE SURE THAT THIS IS THE ROOT OF YOUR PROBLEM IN THE SECOND COLUMN SIMPLY CLICK ON THE UNDERLINED NAME OF WHO THE EXTENSION IS MADE BY IF CLICKING THE LINK BRINGS UP A YAHOO PAGE THIS IS THE SOURCE OF YOUR ISSUES AND SIMPLY UNINSTALLING THIS WILL RID YOU OF THIS DUMB PROBLEM!!

You installed the "Genieo/InstallMac" rootkit. The product is a fraud, and the developer knowingly distributes an uninstaller that doesn't work. I suggest the tedious procedure below to disable Genieo. This procedure may leave a few small files behind, but it will permanently deactivate the rootkit (as long as you never reinstall it.)
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data. You must know how to restore from a backup even if the system becomes unbootable. If you don't know how to do that, or if you don't have any backups, stop here and ask for guidance.
Step 1
In the Applications folder, there should be an item named "Genieo". Select it and open the Finder Info window. If it shows that the Version is less than 2.0, download and install the current version from the genieo.com website. This may seem paradoxical, since the goal is to remove it, but you'll be saving yourself some trouble as well as the risk of putting the system in an unusable state.
There should be another application in the same folder named "Uninstall Genieo". After updating Genieo, if necessary, launch "Uninstall Genieo" and follow the prompts to remove the "newspaper-style home page." Restart the computer.
This step does not completely inactivate Genieo.
Step 2
Don't take this step unless you completed Step 1, including the restart, without any error messages. If you couldn't complete Step 1, stop here and ask for instructions.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Library/Frameworks/GenieoExtra.framework
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.
If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select

from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

The ad has a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If youever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the Genieo developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. It must be said that this failure of oversight is inexcusable and has seriously compromised the value of Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You cannot rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
Finally, be forewarned that when Genieo is mentioned on this site, the developer sometimes shows up under the name "Genieo support." If that happens, don't believe anything he says, but feel free to tell him what you think of his scam. -

i access my itunes account and try to search for new music to purchase and everytime i try (even with money in my account) im kicked off the search engine....almost like im denied access to purchase music.....help!
your itunes may be freezing, you can close and re-open it?

Safari (Versjon 6.0.5 (8536.30.1)) does not remember my toolbar arrangement or other setting like the default search engine, homepage, etc. in OS X 10.8.4. Private Browsing is OFF. Can someone help?

I accidentally downloaded the search engine called Genieo and I am trying to remove it but it just wont go away! I followed the step to remove it but its not working. I am begging for someone's help!!

Syncing iPad with PC using Apple account
I synced iPad with PC. That PC died. Misplaced iPad. Set up new apple ID on new computer. Cannot sync iPad with new computer because the email for the original account is now decommissioned. any help would be appreciated.
