Help selecting non-continuous text in code editor, please?

I'm editing a list... I want to make a lot of selections at once and  edit them at the same time.  You know how you can go through files in  windows and ctrl+click/select files to move around?  I could do this in Notepad++ so I guess I could switch back and forth but that would be a big pain.  Any ideas?

Depending on what the edit is, you could use the Find & Replace (CRTL+F) to just click your way through the list items. If the list is all different items, you'll probably have to do it in a word processor. I don't know any way to do it in the code editor.

  • Selecting non-contiguous text in Safari

    I cannot find a way to select non-contiguous text in Safari.
    Select>Command>select does not work (as it does in Text Edit.
    I am very surprised that I can't locate any information on this via google, yahoo, etc.
    The only item I did find is something called "Safari Magic" but it looks pretty old and costs $19.
    So here I am hoping to get "truth" from the source (or any kind person).
    I'm in Snow Leopard; Safari 5.1.5.
    Thanks.

    Thanks. I hadn't explored Safari's Extensions (only Firefox's). Your was a good suggestion. Alas - and to my absolute consternation - nothing for selecting non-contiguous text.

    Thanks. And as I alluded to Carolyn...this is really odd and frustrating. Not just that this functionality does not exist in an Apple application while it does in other Apple apps, but also that there does not appear to be any Extensions directed at this function.
    Can I be the only person in the world who selects and copies random or non-contiguous text from web sites?

  • Select non-consecutive text

    How do I select non-consecutive text in V5.1? I have a new macbook air and am new to apple. This is such a simple thing, surely there is a way.

    Yeah!
    Some people seem to just bulldoggedly want to head deeper into the swamp.
    I was just at the local PC User Group yesterday, listening to their tales of woe.
    I carefully and clearly explained why they had their problems, then the few simple steps to avoid them, but they think they HAVE to use IE, they HAVE to do all the complicated and silly things that PC users do.
    Down to buying an expensive replacement battery for an ancient laptop, with faulty keys, that was worth less than the battery.
    Everything else doesn't even register. I can see how these PC service centres manage to suck all that money from the poor schmucks.

  • Selecting non-consecutive text in Safari text boxes?

    I've been trying to find a way to highlight/select different ranges of text in Safari without luck; I know that selecting consecutive text can be done by holding down "shift", but is there any way to do it with non-consecutive text? TextEdit is able to do this -- I can select a word in one paragraph, hold down the "command" key, and then separately highlight a word or sentence in another paragraph.

  • Need help - script to continue text in another field if necessary

    Wish I could attach my form but it's not available. I am using Adobe Acrobat 9.0. I have a form with two text fields for "Other" information that needs to be shared. If the user types in more characters than the box holds the overflow text doesn't print. These are court documents and all the text has to print somehow. I am trying to figure out a work around for this and wondered if a script can be written to put the extra text from each "Other" field into another field that would open on a new page at the end of the document if necessary. I want to avoid having extra empty pages however so if they can be added ONLY if the text needs to overflow. I hope I explained this okay, like I said I wanted to upload the form but can't. If someone can help me with this I would really appreciate it.

    LiveCycle is a part of Acrobat Pro Extended - Windows users only, not Mac.

    … would it be possible to have a page at the end with a text field for each of the ones that need overflow to print and can a javascript be written to put the extra text into those fields?
    Yes, it is possible - I've already indirectly provided you with the code for that via the link in my post. Just remember to save it to your desktop:
    http://www.adirect.dk/adobeforum/commentfields.pdf
    As an alternative you could remove the limited characters, set the field to multiline and make a script that set the textsize to auto if the user fills the field with text. When textsize is set to auto, the text will keep on shrinking as user types more text.

  • How to change background color in code editor?

    Hi. Some of the pre-selectable Schemes under Tools->Preferences->Code Editor->PL/SQL Syntax Color (e. g. Ocean) have a "global" default background color that applies to all styles. How can I edit this color for my own color scheme?
    (SQL Developer version 3.1.07)

    Jeff,
    if you try to change all the plsql keywords to the same background color (that is not either white or black or blue) via the options panel in SQL Developer (Code Editor > PLSQL syntax colors), you will get the new background color in the worksheet only for the areas with plsql text, while the areas without any text will have the same background color as the base color scheme you started with. This means that there is no way to change the "general background" color via the options panel, but you have to use the same background color of one of the predefined color schemes.
    This seems to me a bug, but probably it's not considered high priority, so it will not be fixed for the time being.
    I would like to stress the fact that being able to change the color scheme of the development environment that you use every day about 8 hours a day can make quite a difference on your eyes at the end of the day.
    Thanks,
    Paolo

    Hi Christian
    You're missing a lot of the XML build up from the website.
    You also need to return the string "Missing" for each date that you haven't got.

  • Code Editor, Invisible Cursor

    I'm using JDeveloper9i (902) and the code editor cursor keeps disappearing. It's still there, you can edit code, you just can't see it. If you close the editor window and open it again the cursor is displayed. Is this a known bug? Is it fixed in 903?
    Thanks for your help,
    Ian

    Hi Mark, Ian,
    It turns out that this is a Swing bug - see Sun bugs #4519058 and 4672816. When you minimize a Java app, it receives a focusLost( temporary ) event. The bug is that when you restore the Java app, it does not receive a focusGained() event. This occurs in JDK 1.3.1_01 through JDK 1.3.1_03, and does not reproduce in JDK 1.4. From the bug text, it seems that Sun does not intend to fix this in JDK 1.3 unless it is escalated.
    This reproduces when you minimize a Java app using the task bar, or the minimize icon in the app's title bar. Incidentally, you can see the bug with JDeveloper's system navigator also - the system navigator uses a darken selection color in the tree when it has focus, and a lighter selection color when it does not have focus. When you follow the reproduce steps you indicated with the navigator, the navigator stays with the lighter selection color when JDeveloper is restored.
    As I mentioned, currently JDeveloper itself runs under JDK 1.3.1 - we are trying to move to running under JDK 1.4 in the 9.0.4 timeframe, but are working through some painting irregularities currently. I've filed Oracle bug #2562479 with the information from this thread for tracking purposes. I'm still looking into a workaround for this, but I'm not sure at this point whether it is possible without a lot of overhead.

  • Help to create a text layer using scripting

    Hello everyone.
    I want to create a image as above.
    I know the box's left top point coordinate and the box's width and height. How can i create this layer ?

    var FontName = "BouwsmaText";

    newTextLayer.textItem.kind = TextType.POINTTEXT;
    newTextLayer.textItem.color = black;
    newTextLayer.textItem.font = FontName;
    newTextLayer.textItem.size = FontSize;
    newTextLayer.textItem.contents = "Hello world\rThank you very much";
    newTextLayer.textItem.position = [new UnitValue(50, 'px'), new UnitValue(80, 'px')];
    newTextLayer.textItem.justification=Justification.CENTER;
    I don't know how to set the box's width and height. if I use TextType.PARAGRAPHTEXT, the width and height and coordinate are incorrect. Please help me , Thanks!

    If you do not add the text layer as paragraph text it is very easy to align the text to a selection. Make the selection after adding the text to the top left cornor of your document as a single or multiline text layer the use align layer to selection(scriptlistener code).  Paul has posted code in this forum you can steal like I did for aligning layers to a selection. For example
    //                              Helper Functions                                                  //
    function align(method) {
              var desc = new ActionDescriptor();
              var ref = new ActionReference();
              ref.putEnumerated( charIDToTypeID( "Lyr " ), charIDToTypeID( "Ordn" ), charIDToTypeID( "Trgt" ) );
              desc.putReference( charIDToTypeID( "null" ), ref );
              desc.putEnumerated( charIDToTypeID( "Usng" ), charIDToTypeID( "ADSt" ), charIDToTypeID( method ) );
              try{
                        executeAction( charIDToTypeID( "Algn" ), desc, DialogModes.NO );
              }catch(e){}
    // In the main line I used it like this with other code Paul posted
    // Add Filename Text if called for
    if ( PopCollage.msgPnl.StampImage.st.value) {
    stampFilename(textFont,textSizeFactor,textColor,Name);
    loadAlpha("Image " + imageNumber);
    var Position = Number(PopCollage.msgPnl.grp5a.dd1.selection.index) + 1;
    switch (Position){
    case 1 : align('AdLf'); align('AdTp'); break;
    case 2 : align('AdCH'); align('AdTp');break;
    case 3 : align('AdRg'); align('AdTp'); break
    case 4 : align('AdLf'); align('AdCV'); break;
