Help setting up my tv settings for game mode xbox 360

I recently bought a Panny 50" plasma (G20). If anyone could help me out and let me know what the best settings are or what you personally have set up for gaming on your Xbox 360 I would greatly appreciate it! Trying to calibrate my tv and would greatly appreciate some opinions on what you have your tv claibrated at....thanks

Settings for streaming to XBox 360 over Connect360

Anyone have recommended settings for transcoding/encoding to stream on XBox 360 from Mac via Connect360?

I just did a bunch of encodes, tried all kinds of settings.
I found that both MP4 and ipod/iphone 640x480 worked well.
I haven't tried any HD settings yet, but that will come.
It was pretty cool. I took my son's football game on DV, dumped it into FCP, encoded it to a QT Movie, and played it down in the basement on the big screen. (Coaches Film Session)
The only thing that didn't work as well as I would like is that the chapters that I set up weren't as accurate as I would like (I set a chapter marker at the beginning of each play. If I remember correctly, i may need to force an i frame with each chapter marker.)
Connect 360 Rocks imho. It was very frustrating for video until this last xbox software upgrade, but now it will play both mp4 and h.264.
If you run into any trouble, just export a short clip from FCP, then use compressor and try all kinds of settings. Then see which one works for your desired quality.
Like I said, apple devices, ipod/iphone 640x480 worked great. Looked awesome on a 1080p projector at 120" diag!

Full-quality export settings for use with Xbox 360

Greetings, all.
I use Rivet to stream video from my Mac to my Xbox 360. Recently I purchased a Sony HDR-HC5 HDV camera, and I want to see that video on my TV at full quality. I don't have an HDMI cable or a DVI-to-HDMI cable, so my only option is to stream this video to the 360 via Rivet.
To accomplish this, I have been trying to export my video at full quality from iMovie HD 6, but one of a couple things happens: 1- the resolution is intolerably low (I want 1080i), 2- the 360 complains about an unsupported format. I've tried exporting in QT format with expert settings, but no matter what I try, I have been unable to find a combination that produces 1080i that can be viewed on the 360.
Surely somebody else on here has gone through this exercise and has figured out what works. If you have any info on this, please share! I searched through the archives and didn't find anything useful. I've also searched on Google and the answer is still elusive.

Thanks for the reply, but the Xbox will in fact view MPEG-4, which iMovie can export. The only problem I'm having is with the quality of the output. The quality is in the movie that is exported, not in the Xbox's viewing of the movie - the movie looks just as bad on my Mac mini as it does thru my Xbox...
With experimentation, I think I'm getting closer to my goal...

Doesn't sound like it. It sounds like you're being logged-off.
Does your Mac go through the complete Restart cycle -- black screen, gray and/or blue screen momentarily, startup chime, etc?
If you're not sure, do a Restart just to watch the process; the next time the problem occurs, see if it's the same.
You need to know which it is, as these will have very different causes, and different places to look for a solution.

Hi Arti!
You can default user settings in a PFCG role, in the "personalization" tab.
If you have a PFCG role that is common to all your users, you can set the default values here.
However it does not prevent them to change these settings later, except if you modify the "user settings" fields properties in cProjects application.

If you forgot the password
If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support
If the email ID you want to use is in use by someone else - then you may need a new one
The iCloud ID's are usually unique and may be of help if you set one up

Edit settings for game center

Is there any way to edit my settings for game center? I want to hide my real name so that people with only see my username and perhaps alter the default message for friend requests so I don't have to change it manually every time.

When I try to set my 'History Setting' to 'Use custom settings for history' it doesn't appply - it continually defults to 'Never Remember History' - how do I fix it?

When I got into my 'History Setting' and click on 'Use custom settings for history' it doesn't apply. I click on the 'OK' tab and it appears to apply and then closes. When I go back into it, in order to see if it applied, it has reset back to the 'Never Remember History'. How do I fix it?

If "Never Remember History" is displayed then that means that you are in Private Browsing mode and that all other history settings have the default value.

Help with Preference pane DNS settings for Mail

I have a mail (not Apple Mail) issue with my Entourage Mail. I keep getting
the following error message and I have verified the server settings in my
mail accounts are correct for ATT that uses pop.att.yahoo.com. I manage to
get mail most of the time but I still get the following error message:

Entourage cannot find the server. Verify the server information is entered correctly in the Account Settings, and that your DNS settings in the Network pane of System Preferences are correct.

My System Preferences/Network/Advanced/DNS point to my 2wire Gateway combo
modem/router. The router is set for Automatic DNS. I tried changing it to manual
and it did not works any better.
If I change the DNS setting in the preference pane in OS X, will it really use that
DMS address and bypass the router?
I played around with the namebench utility

run it, namebench makes a better recommendation - saying something is faster
than the previous recommendation.
I am lost on what I need to do correct the Network pane of my System Preferences.
Should it point to the router or to good DNS?

The problem is solved and I have checked the Yes button that my
question has been answered. The following is a copy of a posting
two days ago to the Microsoft Entourage group that should work
just as well for Mail users.

Thanks to a tip from Diane Ross I have gone two days without
getting the error message.
First, I know the Account Settings for my ATT DSL service
have been correct for some time and have not changed.
The short version of the fix that worked for was to open
the OS X 10.6.3 (Snow Leopard) System Preferences/
Network/Advanced/DNS panel and add some better Domain
Name Servers from my location.
The default (or before) OS X setting was:
DNS Servers: Search Domains:
192.168.1.254 gateway.2wire.com
Note both were dimmed. The server listed tells OS X to use
the ATT provided combo 2wire modem/router for my DSL service.
The change that seem to have worked for me was to leave the
Search Domain the same; however, I added some good servers that
bypass the 2wire gateway with its automatic DNS setting.
DNS Servers: Search Domains:
208.67.220.220 gateway.2wire.com
208.67.220.222
65.68.49.51
192.168.1.254
I found the ‘good’ or better DNS Servers by making several runs
using the free Google utility called namebench 1.2

This utility takes some time and will make suggestions from your
location. If you add the namebench recommendation and run it
again it will find a better recommendation. I had to make several
runs to find the better DNS Servers for my location. The first or
primary is called OpenDNS, the second is a backup for the OpenDNS
and the third is SBC Global TX now owned by ATT and I live in
Texas. Note I ended with the default IP address.
FYI, I tied using the selected servers in the 2wire gateway in the
manual mode rather than the default automatic mode and it just
did not work right. Some pages would not open and others were
slow. For this reason I run the router in the automatic mode for
DNS and control things using the OS X Network preference pane.
The addition of preferred DNS Servers in my Preference seems
to have slowed down and hopefully stopped Entourage 2008
version 12.2.4 -3170 error messages.

Settings for N Mode ONLY?

How do I configure the AirPort Extreme to only broadcast in N mode?
The help documentation indicates an "N-Only" setting on a Radio drop down button, but when using the actual software utility I do not see anything for N Only mode.

I'm not able to check on Windows a 7 machine, but on an XP SP3 machine, if I hold down the Ctrl key and keep holding it down as I click on the small arrow on the Radio Mode selection box, I get a list of about 13 different choices for Radio Mode, one of which is
+802.11n only 5 GHz and 802.11n only 2.4 GHz+
On a Mac running Leopard or Snow Leopard, you would hold down the Option key while clicking on the Radio Mode selection box to get the same display list.
If your Samsung machine will not allow this, I can only suggest that you try another laptop, or download AirPort Utility 5.5.1 for Windows again and re-install it to see if that will do the trick.
If you are still running Tiger 10.4.6 on your Mac, you could try AirPort Utility 5.4.2 to see if that might work. AirPort Utility 5.5.1 is the recommended application, but your operating system would need to be upgraded to Leopard or Snow Leopard in order to run that version of the application.

Ideal screen share settings for control mode

I am using screen share in my app including screen view and screen control.
When an agent requests to control the screen of a customer, there is a noticable lag of 1+ seconds
between screen refreshes from what customers sees and what agent then sees. Sometimes it is more
than that. Where it gets even harded is when agent is trying to control customer's mouse and keyboard.
The lag makes it somewhat impossible to remote control.
Is there a specific setting that I should use in my code to optimize for control mode? If not, what
is the general setting that I should be using.
Lastly, are there limits on throughput between the client version of the app and the agent since
the data has to pass through LCCS cloud? Would that affect this?

In order to answer your questions, one would need audio and video specifications. 'The best export settings' depend on many things including the pixel size, the target video size...

Mores is right, there is no VGA input on the Qosmio G20 (I wish there was though), you have to use an S-Video connection from your Xbox. Using the Qosmio player works perfectly well, there's no delay at all, the only problem I had was the video quality was utterly terrible. S-Video out from my 360 to a TV was fine, but input into the laptop looked awful, oh well!

Toast9 for use with Xbox 360??

Can I use Toast 9 to make a HD DVD for use on my xbox 360?? How does it work? Do I export the movie when I am done editing it with iMovie '08 to Toast? When I export now it the most it will allow is 960x540...will this change once I have Toast9?
