HELP: Shut Down Leads to Flash Drive Panic

While using the program yesterday, it shut down on me twice unexpectedly. The shut down happened while attempting to save my creatives. I was saving my creatives to a flash drive and now my flash drive is "not readable". Anyone know what has happened? What I can do?

Don't ever save to a Flash drive. Save to hard drive and copy to flash drive. This applies to all apps, but the bigger the stuff you save the higher the chances of catastrophe.

G5 shuts down when Portable external drive connected to Fire wire port

Hi, I hope somebody can help me. I have a 100G lacie portable external HD that I use to back up my files regularly. It worked until today, I plug it in, I was able to save some files, and then the computer shut down. I restarted it and it did the same thing. Black screen. nothing. I have another External HD with its own power supply connected to the same computer and that one works. I tried plugging the Portable HD to the back of the one with Power supply and it shut down as well. Then I plugged it in the back of my 19" LCD, same thing. So I though that the portable HD was bad, I went and bought another drive, a verbatim, and same thing happen. I then plugged my lacie drive to another computer, a G4, and it works which leads me to think that the problem is in the G5, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thought this may be the issue, problem is the USB3.0 connector is 2 micro USB side by side in a single plastic moulding, have searched for separate USB cables but cannot find them.

Need help moving pictures to a flash drive with the same name....

i can't figure this out. i have several hundred pictures that i want on a flash drive for my digital frame. apparently some of them have the same name assigned from the camera ex: dsc01403, etc. sitting down and re-naming them is not an option for that many. when i used windows and ran into this issue, it would just create a different file name. so for example, i would have dsc01403 and it would create the second one as dsc01403 (2). i can't figure out how to get the mac to do that. the only options i get are "don't replace, stop, replace". i tried the 'don't replace' option thinking that would do it, but it doesn't.
so first: did that make sense?
second: anyone know how to work around this?

You won't be able to move your emails from aol.com to your Flash drive (they are on a website, not your computer) if you are using AOL desktop, you might be able to, but you probably won't be able to open them. Anyway, this is a firefox support site, not aol, I'd suggest contacting them.

Need help in importing from a flash drive

My problem is the content on the flash drive will play in itunes as long as the flash drive is connected to my computer. How to I move the files from the flash permanently into itunes?

Hey there,
Have you tried File->Add to Library and then choose the songs off the flash drive? Another way is to head to "Edit" and then choose "Preferences". From there, head over to the "Advanced" tab and make sure there is a check mark next to "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library." See if that helps.

Rookie needs help! Can't find flash drive?

I am attempting to move music files from my old dell relic to my macbook air. I am not sure the macbook is seeing the flash drive? Or maybe the deal is I don't know how to find it?
I pulled it out of the USB port and the error message came up that I did not properly eject it....not sure what to do. No icon appears on my desktop or anything.
Can someone help me figure this out?
Would love to be able to hold on to all those music files!

Hi Dana,
Not sure what OS you are running, but if you are running Mountain Lion, you can go into Finder Preferences, and tell it to show your External Disks, etc. on the Desktop:

Notebook shuts down when using flash-based applications on FB

A few minutes after I log in several facebook flash-based applications (Cafe World, Treasure Isle, Frontier Ville) my pc shuts down. This has not always been the case, only in the couple past weeks. At first I thought my notebook was overheating...but how can a flash-based game overheat a pc in less than 5 minutes? I was a bit perplexed since ZyngaPoker (another flash-based app) causes no problems even if I play for an hour straight but then again I turned my notebook one morning after leaving it idle for 12 hours and went directly to one of the aforementioned apps. 3 mins and.. BAM. I have a good pc, always use Chrome and good software (such as CCleaner, Deffragler, SpeedFan etc). I am not so familiar with flash so I don't know what I might have do in order to resolve this issue. I hope some of the gurus here might get to read this thread and give me any tips.

Does manual shut down still park hard drive head?

My macbook wasnt responding so i had to shut down by holding the power button and it occured to me that this might damage the HD if the head does not park.
Does anyone know if a macbook is smart enough to park its HD head even when manually shutting down?

All modern hard drives automatically park their heads when the system is shut down. So no worries.

MacBook Help- Shutting Down

for the past about 2 weeks, when I shut down my macbook, it takes extra time to shut it down. The mouse dissappears like its supposed to, but the a spinning thing-not the pinwheel (It isn't something from my mouse icon)-appears at the bottom center part of my screen. I stays like this for a minute and then shuts down. Is there any way to fix this problem??? Thanks!

ATV 1st Gen keeps shutting down - can I swap drives?

Some months back I bought a 160GB ATV 1st Gen to replace my 40GB model. Now, sometimes when I come to use the 'new' one, I often find I can't switch it on and it's dead. When this happens I have to pull out the power lead, re-insert and let it boot up again when all's fine. Until the next time.
Has anyone any idea what could be wrong?
If the problem's terminal for my ATV and it may be a power supply problem or other non-HD problem, can I try salvaging things by 'simply' taking out the 160GB drive and fitting it into the 40GB model which works fine?

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank and then power ON again in the normal way.] It is app and data safe!

My iMac just shuts down when running flash facebook applications, after I upgraded to Mountain Lion...Any ideas?

I think I figured out Firefox, I went under Help > Troubleshooting Information > Reset Firefox.
I only have one account on my computer. Honestly I don't even really know how multiple accounts work. I've never played around with it. I already allowed Java - should I disable it?

Firefox for android shuts down due to flash plug in not disabling screen sleep timer

When viewing flash stream the tablet will go into sleep mode after designated timer setting. Firefox will then hang after waking up neccessitating restart of Firefox and re-sellection of stream. Max 30 min timer on tablet so intermittent activity necessary to prevent sleep fault. Is a fix or setting available to prevent this from happening? Fault does not occur with standard browser but prefer to use Firefox.

FF shut down my Adobe flash cuz not updated & won't download now

I've tried to find the A player by using several restore sites but FF has definitely removed it as they indicated on my computer saying it was not updated and was a danger.
I need this plug in but it will not download in any fashion in fact Tools shows no plugins, nor is Adobe of any kind in programs.
I also tried to download by disabling security settings and then another time the firewall and then another time putting Mozilla in safe mode. Can not get it to download just get a blank page that says downloads complete but they are not. can not play utube or news videos or daily motion vids.

Backup drive keeps rotating after shutting down the iMac

Hi,
since I installed Leopard, my backup drive (LaCie USB) stays in operational mode after I shut down the iMac (intel 20").
When I choose to shut down the mac, the drive starts to rotate but doesn't stop... Under Tiger this wasn't an issue.
I think the problem is that Leopard doesn't "tell" the LaCie drive to go in sleep mode before the computer shuts down.
Does anyone experience the same problem and know what the solution is?

Actually it does open but nothing shows up. I can't use my iMac unless I use the Safari browser and I want to use Firefox! I'm at my wits end as to how to fix this. I have tried everything that troubleshooting has suggested on Mozilla support. Help!!!!!!!!
