Help, Simcard fault with Iphone 1st generation

Dear all..
I purchased a Iphone first generation 4gb from someone.
It is a USA model, but the previous owner already used a different sim card in it.
But now when I want to put in my card, it doesn't work.
What can I do?

This means the previous owner hacked the iPhone.
Hacking an iPhone for any reason is against Apple's license agreement for the iPhone and is not supported by Apple directly or indirectly via these discussions. You will get no help here with a hacked iPhone.
Contact the previous owner for help and support with this.

  • A/V Component cables no longer able to work with iPhone 1st Generation?

I purchased the Apple A/V Component cables to be able to hook my iPhone up to my stereo at work and TV at home. Before the 2.0.1 update, it worked ok. No hassles or problems what so ever. Now, after the 2.0.1 update, I can no longer use this device for what it seems it was made for. It seems that now it's a $50 iPhone charger and that's about it. Anyone know of any fix or maybe something I did to make this happen? I called Apple and they said "that's odd, it should be working" and then asked if I could bring it in.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It seems it's not just the A/V Component cables that aren't working with the new upgrade. Apparently some other people have had issues with docking stations and speaker extensions after the upgrade. Anyone?

  • Can I use Bluetooth headphones with a 1st generation iPhone?

Can I use Bluetooth headphones with a 1st generation iPhone? The headphones pair but the sound comes out of the phone and not the headphones. The phone has iOS 3.1 which is the last software the phone will support. Thanks.

    This will help you:
    Original iPhone
The original iPhone features Bluetooth capabilities only for making calls. Connecting to a PC or streaming audio other than phones calls through Bluetooth is not supported.
    IPhone 3G
With the iPhone 3G operating system, its Bluetooth capabilities are expanded to support wireless stereo headsets, file sharing with other Bluetooth devices, and use of the iPhone as a 3G modem. Also supported are new capabilities for combining the iPhone with Bluetooth accessories.
    IPhone 4.0
The 4.0 version of the iPhone's operating systems keeps the expanded Bluetooth functions introduced in version 3 and adds one new benefit: Bluetooth keyboard support, so iPhone owners can use wireless keyboards wherever they go.

  • IPhone 1st Generation Apple Logo Loop

My Problem: The past few years I've been having a problem with my iPhone 1st Generation.
What's Been Happening: My iPhone has been going into a "Apple Logo Loop"
What I've Been Doing: I've been looking up what I should do. The same thing has been coming up "On the iPhone hold Start/Sleep button and Home button, keep holding it until the Apple Logo shows up. Release both buttons then." I've been doing that but nothing's been happening. What I mean is... the iPhone screen is black. Then, I hold the Power button at the top right until I see the Apple Logo. As I see it, I still hold the Power button but then hold the Home button as well. After that, the screen goes black and then it turns back on. Then, I see the Apple Logo with a little loading sign in the middle, like it's trying to start up. Finally, it just turns off again. Every time I try, it does the same thing. Once, it came up with telling me to plug it into the computer, but then it quickly disappeared. I've also tried to put it into DFU Mode, but it seems that something is blocking it from doing so. It turns off but it seems that something is forcing it to turn back on.
HELP!: I'm not sure what to do with it. I'm not sure if it's completely dead and nothing can fix it. I took it to a place to see if they could to attempt to fix it but they failed to do so. If anybody can please be out there and help me that would be completely great. If you do reply, I might not reply back right away, but I will reply sometime during that day.
    Thanks
    -Chris
P.S. This is my first time making a post, so I might've done something wrong in the processing...

    Hey there,
It sounds like the phone keeps rebooting on its own even during a restore. I would try resetting the device while it is connected to a power source:
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

If the issue persists, I would put the device into recovery mode with the following article and attempt the restore 1 more time:

  • IPhone 1st Generation

Where can i find iPhone 1st Generation cases?
I need a case for my old iphone.

    kitycat714,
There are plenty of cases for the original iPhone still on the Apple Store Online: http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shopiphone/iphoneaccessories/cases?n=iphone1&mco=MTI4MTM3Ng&s=topSellers
As long as it names "iPhone" under the "This accessory is compatible with the following" portion, it should work with the original. If not, it will explicitly display "iPhone 3G". As always, if there is any doubt, it's best to contact the manufacturer of the case to inquire.
    Hope this helps,
    Raleigh

  • How do i go wirelss with a 1st generation imac that is not airport enabled?

    Hi there
Does anyone know if it possible to go wireless with a 1st generation imac that is not airport extreme enabled?
    Thanks for your help

It's not a bridge. It is simply a ethernet to 802.11G adapter. It is just a different way of adding wireless to a Mac.
The Airport Extreme card is just $49 and it is internal. It is not hard to add at all to your first gen G5 iMac so I would go that way.

  • I've just been offered the first iphone (1st Generation) which was released some time ago, in which and what way will I be underhanded.

I've just been offered the first iphone (1st Generation) which was released some time ago, in which and what way will I be underhanded as the price range is very handsome.

You will get no use out of this phone and wont be able to use itunes either
I don't know why you say that. Many people are still quite happily using first-generation iPhones. They are very limited in the carrier support - EDGE only as Tim said - and the apps available are few now, but the phones still work and serve their original purpose.
That said, I certainly wouldn't buy one. Used iPhone 3G and even 3GS units are available quite affordably and are much more flexible.

  • Lots of Trouble with a 1st generation MacBook

    Hi everyone,
I'm writing for my sister, who's in Thailand having trouble with her MacBook. Hopefully you can help with the information I have. I'm sorry for the long message.
About a week ago, her 1st generation MacBook (running Leopard), full off the couch. She says it fell maybe a foot and a half and landed on some clothes. She didn't think it was a big deal, but when she opened it again, her desktop image had been changed with the blue Apple default. Nothing else appeared wrong with the desktop icons or anything else.
Then, she noticed Photoshop wouldn't open, MS Word wouldn't let her type or save, and Safari/Firefox were running super slow. She tried Disk and Permissions verify/repair, and also tried popping out the RAM and putting it back in (in case it had been dislodged). Today, she said that Word either refuses to open or opens but says there is a problem with the Office Database. Safari and Firefox are still running really slow.
She says she took it to an Apple approved repairshop in Bangkok, where the guys ran MacTuneUp and a permissions repair on Word. At the shop the computer was running fine, but once she got it home, it started acting up again. At times, it'll be running like normal and then revert back to being slow.
She also said she tried to download a VLC player online the day before the laptop fell. I don't know which one she tried to download.
Does anybody have any ideas for her to try?
    Thanks for the help,
    Torea

To anyone who stumbles upon this post, we figured it out.
All we had to do was empty the cache in Safari and FireFox and it started working fine. We just didn't realize my sister had both browsers open the entire time.

  • IPhone: 1st generation vs. 2nd generation

Are there any significant difference between the 1st generation and 2nd generation iPod touch? Just wondering.

    Yes.
    1. Internal speaker, so you can hear without headphones.
    2. Physical volume buttons.
    3. Support for microphone, which will work with Apple's new [In-Ear Headphones|http://www.apple.com/ipod/inearheadphones>
    4. Comes with software version 2.1.1
    5. Contoured shape like the iPhone 2g.

  • IPhone 1st generation question

When iphones update to the 3.0 for picture messaging and etc. do first generation iphones still not have picture messaging because mine doesnt and im still using my email for sending pictures.

The problem is that Apple simply isn't adding it in to the 1st generation iPhone. The phone is more than capable of doing so and there are ways to enable the 1st generation iPhone to do MMS on the internet (google). In the future there will be even more features left off the 1st generation because well, Apple wishes you would upgrade every year, it's how they make money.

  • ICloud with iPhone 1st gen

Hi there - a friend of mine is long term user of MobileMe and asks me if there will be a possibility for him to get his email on his old iPhone 1st gen after going to iCloud. Can anyone give me some insight on this matter? Thanks in advance.

On the first gen, he can't upgrade to iOS 5, hence he can't use iCloud, which requires iOS 5.  His mobileme will eventually go out of service at the end of June, so he is definitely near the end of using his MobileMe email unless he gets a newer generation iPhone.

  • Help needed please, with Iphone stuck with apple picture and progress bar after software update attempted

Help needed please, everytime I try to update the software version on my iphone it comes up with a message saying it could not be completed and is now frozen with the apple picture and progress bar on it. Do I unplug it and hope the macbook pro sees it again, I also stupidly did not back up before starting the download which I realise I will have to go back to the previous back up. This keeps happening, everytime I do this type of update, I'm starting to think I should just give up on updating my software on the Iphone. I thought it was happening because I was using a window based computer to do the updates, this time I used my Macbook Pro. Please somebody help

  • Is there anyone with a 1st generation IPad and IOS 5.1 that's NOT having tons of problems?

The whole world is always in such a big hurry to buy the next generation of anything - seems this has caused Apple to just not bother with their early customers. So many updates to so many apps to work with all the new stuff - not much works at all for me anymore. Lots of freeze ups and lots of crashes - even ITunes and the App Store constantly crashes. If there's any real help or support out there I sure haven't seen it. First generation IPads aren't really all that old - very disappointed - won't ever buy another one - far too expensive to be forgotten so quickly. If anyone has any HELPFUL information, please reply. If there are fixes available from Apple that I just don't know about, I'll be very glad to eat my words here.

Nah.... if application updates over the last couple of years weren't going to be compatible with my IPad and IOS 5.1, then the update notices should have never been sent. Keep in mind that as updates became available, the "reminder" never went away until you installed it. All of these "updates" were designed for the newer operating software but also supposed to be compatible with what I have. To my knowledge, ITunes and the App Store were both pre-installed on the IPads and have never been something you could download yourself (only upgrades as they came down the pike).
