Help, SMTP can't go through SunScreen NAT
Hi all,
I'm using SunScreen 3.2 on my Solaris 9 (SPARC). My box has 2 NIC, I use one of them for
my ADSL connection (Solaris PPP) , and another for my internal small networks. Only one filter
rule has been set that allow all services, sources and destinations. A dynamic NAT has been set up
that allows my internal networks connect to the Internet through SunScreen.
Now, I can browse the Internet, receive mails through POP3, but, also found something wrong:
1. I can't send mails through SMTP, except extremely simple ones, for instance, "mails" without body.
2. I can't login to MSN messenger
Does anyone has similar experiences? Can anyone give me some advices or clues?
Any help will be appreciated.

It was a faulty machine - when I got back from holiday with my unused Ipad the tech person in the shop took one look and issued a replacement.
I made sure the new one worked before I left the shop!
I must have been unlucky because the chances of getting a faulty product with my first ever Apple purchase must have been quite slim....

Apple help service is crap. I've been trying to contact someone for 2 days now and can't get through to anyone. My audiobooks have disappeared from my Library - I paid a lot of money for these! the thing is i never threw away the project plus i have a copy of it lol... it has something to do with me moving the folder im just sure of it. because when i checked the trash when i tried to delete that new folder, its there.... thats the only thing i deleted from the event library window. then the other projects that were useless that i threw away. should i restore those? i havent emptied my trash.
also i could never find where it saves everything... so i just did a search... (im not a very techy guy) plus im unsure how to back it up... if its a feature in the program then i havent figured it out yet...
but i think if i put the "final cut projects" folder back where i took it from it should be fine. im THINKING thats the case. the only problem is i dont know where i got it from. sounds silly i know but i found the folder from doing a search in finder. -
I have had a reinstall nightmare getting my loops back they are in the apple library, I can access them through the media browser but I only have a few available through the loop browser, how do I get them all back there again? please help

They will only be where you put them If you are doing the very basics, then they will be on your computer and they will be in your backup copy of your computer.
The itunes store is not global at all, never has been. You cannot redownload your content from another country. You can only use the countrys itunes store for the country that you are physically located. -

Call Verizon's wireless tech support & explain your problem to them. They will provide "step-by-step" instructions over the phone.

TIP: If you do call & don't want to go through all those darn promps, when you initially call, just don't say anything. The automatic voice will then say, "will connect you to a service rep." -
My iphoto9 has not been able to open for over 10 days!! I can't load my Christmas pics, etc. I know the pics are still there because I can access them through a round about way. Can anyone help me to OPEN iPHOTO!?
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List. -

To turn the instrument power OFF, you should look for the GPIB command that can do this in the instrument's operation manual.
To turn the instrument power ON, it is very difficult or almost impossible to do so, because your app program will have no way to communicate with your "unpowered" instrument. -
On my iPhone 4 I can play music through the speaker or headphones, but I can not get audio in phone mode! I can hear anything through the ear piece or via a headphone. Nor can people hear me when I call. I must be doing something wrong, but what?

Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.

I have a new MacBook Air. I set my password the other night when I was half asleep and can't remember it. Im still working on my old MacBook Air and can't get through the password gate on my new one. How can I reset it on that computer? I can't even get to the internet.

Select Terminal from the Utilities menu. At the Terminal prompt enter:
resetpassword
Press RETURN. You will get a GUI in which you can reset your password. -
My iPhone 4 does not ring only vibrates. I have restored but no luck. Ringtones can be heard through speaker during selection. Ring volume is also set at maximum.
I had the same problem. I took the phone to the local tech shop and they replaced a fried headphone flex cable. Cost me $70.

MBP freezes after 10.4.11 and I can't get through to AppleCare
This is beyond ridiculous. Since applying the 10.4.11 update, my MBP always locks up after waking from sleep. There has been no exception since updating. I kept it turned off for about 24 hours, then used it all afternoon without letting it sleep and didn't have a single freeze. Sure enough, the first time I closed the lid to let it sleep, it locked up within seconds of waking up. This was happening spradically prior to the 10.4.11 update, but now it's rendering my MBP unuseable.
Yes, I have AppleCare and I tried calling Apple twice last week. Both times, I got cut off. Both times, I could barely understand the Indian trying to help me, and one got snippy with me when I had to keep asking him to repeat himself. Neither time did I actually get to speak with a technician. One of those times I got a recorded message telling me that Apple was closed for the holiday and to call back during normal business hours. Friday wasn't a holiday (at least not in this country) and I was calling during normal business hours for THIS country, but perhaps not for India. I've never experienced any trouble getting AppleCare support via telephone in the past, even on Sundays.
I've run Apple Hardware Test and TechTool Deluxe, neither of which reports any drive problems. The nearest Apple Store is an hour's drive from here. Apparently, I have one of the Seagate drives recently found to be defective. All I want to know is whether or not I should let Apple replace the drive with one that isn't defective.
I'm at a loss here. I'm paying for AppleCare, but can't get through to a comprehensible English speaker capable of answering that very simple question. I can't let my MBP sleep because it'll lock up upon waking. I can't find any way to send feedback to Apple about the unacceptable experience trying to get through to support last week. Is no one accountable for anything these days? And to think I bought an iPhone last week too!Here is what I think may be the relevant portion of my system.log file. I've had no luck at all finding someone willing to tell me how to parse log files to troubleshoot errors. The freeze happened right about Nov 25 22:00:00. Our web server has been changed can't connect through outlook now

i am really thankful for you i have learn a lot of things from this forum.......today i want to ask one question about outlook, we have a website and we use the company email addresses some period ago we received a lot of spam emails when we talk to our
hosting company they said we will transfer your website to a new server. as they transferred it to new server all the email address were deleted automatically. but we got the backup of emails and create all the email address with same id again,,,,........problem....is
this that now we can't connect through outlook for example if i try to setup outlook it goes up to "try unencypted connection" and here stops that can not establish a connection. if i go directly to mail server there all is fine. the hosting company
give us all the spec that incoming port should be 110 outgoing 587 and pop3. i tried all this but not working even i tried on such a computer where never outlook was installed .....but there it does not work as well..................Thanks;;;;;;;;

According to your description, my understanding is that you can use OWA but Outlook using pop3 can't work. Right?
In general, the port for SMTP they are 465 (SSL) and 587(StartTLS) and 25 (unencrypted).

As you said, your outgoing port is 587, I recommend you refer to the following screenshot to set your pop3 setting, and check if any helps:

Just wondering if anyone out there has been able to print using their PowerMac while spooling through a print server, specifically a Linksys PSUS4? I have a desktop and a laptop PC and a PowerMac g5 1.6Ghz and a MacBook Pro 2.0Ghz and only the HP laptop is able to print when my Epson R340 printer is routed through the print server.
I was using a Belkin switchbox to switch between USB hubs when printing with the desktop computers and this worked fine, other than having to remember to switch the connection when using a different computer.
Since then, I have added a Linksys wireless G router and a Linksys PSUS4 print server to allow the two laptops to print wirelessly. Now the only machine I can print from is the HP PC laptop. Neither desktop can print, nor my Macbook.
I am trying to use GIMP to print with my G5. When I send a jpb, it spools all the way through the job, but the printer never responds or prints a single sheet.
Again, I am using a PowerMac G5, 1.6Ghz and MacOS 10.4.8.
Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated!

As of now, I'm trying to print from my wife's desktop, which is an older model eMachines 1.1Ghz with XP Professional. Right now, it's just sitting there with a "Printing" window.
I have called Linksys, but to no avail. Couldn't understand they guy was speaking with. According to a networking friend of mine, there must be a PC host machine which is on all the time which acts as a "bridge" to get the files to the printserver. I don't know about that, but my father-in-law uses a PSUS4 to print wirelessly from 2 PC laptos with no problems.
Gonna try calling Linksys back and see if I get anywhere with that. If not, we'll try another route.

Help, I can't sync any music to my iPhone 5s or iPad 2 ! it says it's finished sync but the music is greyed out and not on my devices.. I've tried unchecking the music and doing it manually. Nothing works. I took it to Apple store Robina no help..
So I have found a common denominator to this phenomenon. After having the same problem, I started to recopy my playlist of 500+ songs in groups of 10-20, 30+, 75+, and then over a 100+. Any music I have purchased from iTunes won't copy, but everything else did. Unsure if I made a playlist called "Purchased" at some point or this is an iTunes default, I also noticed it had some of the songs contained in my other playlist and was showing on my iPhone. Regardless of what I did such as dragging music from that playlist to the other and clearing songs from that playlist, I removed it altogether from the iPhone itself vs. doing through iTunes. After that, music copied fine to my playlist.
So, my theory is that iTunes is getting tripped up on purchased tracks already showing on the phone and all songs are showing grayed out/dotted circle because iTunes can't resolve the conflict with purchased tracks.

I can usually print through the schools wifi using my laptop. Can i do the same using the iPad air? and if so how? Ive tried using the airprinter but it wouldnt load any printers. Usually I need to setup the printer through settings in my macbook. Can anyone help me how to do the same for my iPad?
