Help! so frustrated with SATA ports!
I have a Lenovo k450 with windows 8.1 and am trying to install a second hard drive.
I successfully installed an SDD with my OS on it, but I cannot get my computer to recognize both hard drives through SATA ports. It will recognize one at a time, doesnt matter which cord or drive (so I dont think its a cord or bad drive issue) and the sata port for the DVD drive seems to only work with the DVD drive.
Currently my BIOS recognizes it, as does my intel motherboard hardware manager, but it I cannot get the second drive to show up in Disk Management. I checked my motherboard driver as it seems that the additional SATA port may not be "turned on" but I have the most up-to-date sata driver installed according to IDE ATA/ATAPI controller under device manager. I don't know what to even try next - totally at a loss here! If anyone has any ideas, please help! thank you so much! I'm seriously losing my mind over here!

For the wifi problem:
Does the iOS device connect to other networks?
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect OK before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Hi All,
I am having a really annoying problem. I have a T430 hooked up to a Dell monitor via the Display Port (mini to regular converter, and then a cable that came with the monitor. The cable has a big D on it so I think it's a DisplayPort cable and not HDMI).
After the monitor shuts down due to idle period, I need to unplug and plug in again the cable so it works again. Sometimes I have to do this several times until it takes. Rarely, it causes the computer to freeze entirely and there is no display and no response.
Sometimes, when I play an online game, the transfer to full screen causes it to happen and I need to do the unplug-and-plug trick.
I'm completely updated with Windows and Lenovo updates (via their update tool).
Has anyone stumbled across this?
Thanks!Does nobody know anything about this? It's definitely an issue with the laptop, because going in and out of a game makes it happen and I have to disconnect and reconnect the cable again.

My motherboard is a MSI 870A-G54 and I'm feeling problems with SATA port #2. Yesterday, I realized that my secondary hard disk (connected to that port) was operating at a speed lower than normal. So, I performed a surface scan on that disk and I noticed that the test went slow at the beginning of the disk. Therefore, I powered off my computer and I changed the data cable and I got the same result. I changed the disk to port #3 and it worked at its normal speed. To be sure, I changed again the disk to port #4, and was working normal. I did the same with ports #5 and #6 and got the same result (OK). I have Windows XP installed on this disk. If this was not enough, I connected my primary hard disk with Windows 7 to port #2, and Windows loaded very slow, lower than normal for sure.
So I think there is a problem with port #2. I have done the following:
- I cleaned the port with a special spray for electronic circuits.
- I checked SMART values on both disks (primary and secondary) and there were no read or CRC errors logged. This problem cannot be issued by any disk, but the host itself.
Should I send my mobo to MSI for repair? Any ideas, please?? Is this problem common?

It seems I'm lucky. A friend of mine has done a power drain disconnecting all data and power cables from both disks and the ATX power cable from the motherboard. And it worked. Now, the disk works normally on this port. It seems there was a static charge stored in the mobo (you said a short circuit, don't you?)

P67A-GD55 Sata port multiplier compatibility

I'm trying to figure out if any of the six sata ports on my P67A-GD55 are compatible with SATA port multipliers. I can't find any information on this anywhere.
The ports are two SATA 3 and 4 SATA 2.No sir.
Not for us here on these MSI motherboards, and for the most part, not for anyone.
Intel wants ICH* chipset implementations to be point to point, for whatever reason.
They do not support PM, even though they are technically capable of it! Nice guys.
There are two different implementations of PM, one being the "real" Port Multiplier, so to speak.
You might want to do some research, ie. the difference between CBS (Command-Based Switching)
and FIS (Frame Information Structure) aka FBS. Just Google all those terms together like
"sata port multiplier cbs fis fbs switching" etc. and you'll find more information than you ever wanted to know.
Just kidding.

While what you choose might depend on your specific PM Host controller in the box you want to hook up,
as a general guide I'd look at the cards that support FBS and have the most "yes" columns; at least AN, and things like NS/NQM are gravy.
You'll notice the one I mention that's on the P67A-GD65, the Marvell 91xx, it supports FBS & AN, and as I said above,
it works great with 4 drives on either port (SilImage SteelVine PM Host). I'm also partial to the Silicon Image SI3132 & 3124 cards,
they rock, and you can find cards based on them for under $20usd anywhere.
If you only have one PM Host you want to connect I'd say it's a no-brainer to go with the same manufacturer for the SATA card's chip.
Nothing says speedy and stable like a matched pair, right?
But to reiterate, no, you will not be connecting a port multiplier host to any of those motherboard ports.
With the Intel RST driver it will detect an "unknown" drive of a whopping 0 bytes capacity.

CPU: Intel I7 4770k overclocked at 3,9Ghz
Memory: kingston 16GB @2400
HD: 2x Samsung 840Evo 120GB Raid 0 and 1xWestern Digital Green 3TB(sata)
2 optical Dvd Recorders (sata)
PSU: Silverstone 750watt
GPU:Ati R290
OS: Windows 8.1 update1

all you have to remember with SATA is its either the board or device that dictates the speed by whichever is slower will be used as the connection speed. eg a SATA drive on a SATA III connection like you have will set itself to SATA 1.5Gb/sec speed. the opposite is the same too a SATA III (6Gb/sec) drive on a SATA 1.5Gb/sec port will default at SATA speed of 1.5Gb/s as in those 2 SATA 1.5Gb/s speed is the lowest common denominator so it uses that as the speed it connects at.
simply the slowest part is the connection speed limit. -

I changed my main drive to a Crucial 256GB SSD and memory to Micron 16GB, and I also removed the optical drive. The optical drive has been replaced by the original Toshiba HDD. Then, the question has came out! The OS hourly report Errors and restart. Finally, the HDD icon will disappear from Finder and the drive will be changed into a read-only disk (Under the Windows OS installed by BOOTCAMP). Then, I have to format the drive.
BUT the question still happen AGAIN AND AGAIN！ Though, I changed the Toshiba Drive by a WesternDigital one (Model. LPVT 500G), which is the most energy-efficient notebook HDD, BUT the question take place AGAIN when I listening an iTunes music ! ! ! (The music tone was reapted again and adain, and the OSX was shut down in a sudden, without any operation)
I searched some information and did some attempt. The OS can work well when I change the second drive by a old 250GB HDD, but I really can`t use such a slow and small drive for work, and I have to pray for my data every time when I press the power button. So, please help me! Improve the SATA port power management or someting else, THE BUG CAN BE SOLVED BY YOU, THE GREATEST ENGINEERS.

I've checked it and if the question didn`t occur, the disk can work well. The I/O speed can reach 113MB/s. And someone said it causes by SATA port power supply. -

I am frustrated with the Bookmarks. I want so much to be able to right click and alphabetize the list. It's been a year and I can get my mind around the process that's there. Also I'd love for those pesky little icons to disappear. Help me please.
After the release of Firefox 29, several people noticed that after using the Customize feature, most items on the right-click menu for the Bookmarks menu on the menu bar became ''grayed out'' and unusable until you closed and started Firefox back up again. That seems to still be a problem for me in Firefox 36.0.4, so if you used Customize, that could be the explanation.
You still should be able to click and drag bookmarks around the menu even with the broken right-click context menu.
And if it's easier than restarting, the context menu still works in the Bookmarks Sidebar (Ctrl+b to open/close) and Library dialog (Ctrl+Shift+b or "Show All Bookmarks"). -
I up graded my phone to an iphone 5c. I received it yesterday and call the 800# to activate my phone. During the phone call I was transferred to customer service because my phone was unable to activated. I was on hold for 30 mins and the customer service rep told me there was nothing she could do manually I would have to call the 800#. I did this 3 times, each time told the same thing! Finally the 4th time I told the rep I needed to speak to a manager and he informed me the manager wasn't available and to call tech support. So my 5th phone call to Verizon I spoke to a girl in tech support who was able to tell why my phone wasn't unable to be activated. the SIM card that was preinstalled was never registered and I would have to go to a Verizon store to get one. Here's my problem again, I leave in a rural western pa. I called my local store and they told me I would have to buy a SIM card because they are not a corporate store! The closets corporate store is 1 hour away. I am so frustrated with verizons lack of system checks that I just want to send the phone back!! I have never had this many problems with Verizon and I have been a customer for 15 years.
Verizon can mail you a Sim for free. No travel time to a corporate store.

create a new free web base email - sign into the apple id you have now edit the primary email address with the just newly created email save [you justs freed your email address from being an apple id]
Once you have all the4 correct information/data etc needed to be able to then chose option None

I need a help in installing a Sata hard drive ,it is WD 250 GB , my motherboard is 865PE Noe2 , the bios is the latest one
already I got another old hard drive ,not a Sata ,a regular IDE one installed as a master hard drive
I want to install the sata hd as a slave for the IDE hd for now to transfer the files and documents
I already physically installed the Sata hard drive yet the problem is that it was listed in the bios , I followed some of the steps here in the forum mentioned but all what I got is I found it listed as the fourth IDE master , not as the primary IDE slave
in Windows Xp Sp2 it is not listed of course in the windows explorer , but it is there in the device manager
look I am very confused and I tried most of the combinations in the ide configuration in BIOS
what should I do coz I am feeling so bad and stupid ,you can consider me a n00b in this hard drive thing1st the sata drive cannot be listed as a slave drive to the ide master [key word=ide-can be configured as master OR slave, master IF only 1 hd, master and slave IF 2 hds], on the sata controler you can have master and slave, the ide cable has two connectors for the hds, sata has only 1 hd connector.
are you wanting to install the sata as primary master and move the operating sys to that drive, if so you will need an IMAGING software to move an operating system OR you could do a fresh operating system install to the sata drive then install your programs. -

I use the mac for office stuff and my PC is for gaming. I just bought Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and it won't allow me to connect, but I when I try connecting using a Sprint Smartview internet chip, it works but goes slow. So I know it has to do with the TC, now my Mac uses the Ip 10.0.1.201 and my PC is 10.0.1.4, I've tried opening up the ports with the port mapping tool in Airport Utilities but didn't have any luck. I don't want to ruin anything by wandering into things I don't understand ...
