HELP songs dissapearing on my iPod...

every time i try and sync my ipod or put songs on my ipod i keep getting error messages saying the ipod cannot be sycned , an unkown error occured (-48)
And ive had other numbered errors coming up too ...
my ipod is a 5th gen 30GB video ipod and only had it for 4 days
so i dont rwally understand what can be up with it
but the weird thing is on itunes the songs are on my ipod , they go on ok but with that error message but when i eject my ipod they not on it ???
any one can tell me why or what to do for this ?

Have you tried converting them using iTunes itself? If you want to keep them as AAC files, first, open iTunes Preferences and then open Import Options. Select AAC from the drop down menu and select OK. Then, select the tracks you want to convert, right click and select "convert to AAC". Once they've converted, delete the original files then sync the new tracks to your iPod. If the skipping continues, maybe do what I said above but convert them to MP3 instead.
Hopefully it's just an encoding issue, and that re-encoding will solve it.

  • Help: songs skip on my iPod touch 2

First, I'm sure it's just the problem of the iPod touch, not the audio files, because they all play normally not only on the iTunes software, but also on my iPod nano 3 as well.
    So here's the exact problem:
For all my audio files compressed by Nero AAC codec, the last few seconds, bar none, will be skipped when played on my iPod touch 2.
However, there seems to be a fixed pattern for such skipping: if the song's length is 1 minute, the last 1 second will be skipped; if it's a 2-minute-long song, then the last 2 seconds will be skipped, then you can do the math yourself.
I'm not sure about the exact seconds, but that's the way it works.
Since most songs will leave a few seconds of "space" in the end, such skips are usually harmless. But for a continuouse work that's divided into several tracks, or some concert work that weighs as much as 20~30 minutes (which means the last 20~30 seconds will be omitted), your enjoyment can be severely impaired.
Here's something else worth mentioning: all the mp3 files compressed by lame or iTunes, and AAC songs bought from iTunes Store have no such problem on my iPod touch, which only affects AAC files encoded by Nero AAC codec, CBR & VBR alike.
My iPod touch's software version is 2.2.1 (they don't fix the problem since 2.1, when I bought the iPod)
Is there a way to fix the problem, or at least, will somebody tell me that I'm not alone on this?
    Thank you!

  • More on itunes 6.0.1 songs not going to ipod URGENT help

I have tried to read every releated post on this but I am having the same problems as other but the typical solutions arent working (Its urgent because I am leaving town and hoping to have the new music)
When I try to transfer songs it says the ipod software is too old, I have updated with 10-12 updater previous posts say to only mount ipod when instructed but it never prompts me. When it gives an option for installing on hard drive or ipod I have tried the ipod option it says I need to have OSX 10.2.8 which I do. I have itunes 6.0.1 (3) which has solved other peoples problems. In other help areas it says to use the restore through the ipod updater but never comes up either. I am hesitant to restore and then have nothing work anyway. It seems as if the ipod is never being updated. I dont know what else to ry. Any ideas Please.

Jennifer, I thought iTunes 6.01 was only for 10.3.9 and above?
iTunes 6 requires 10.3.9+ for video, but otherwise requires 10.2.8+.
I had the same problem Jennifer mentioned, and what I did was as follows:
Go to Applications -> Utilities -> iPod Software Updater. Double-click on the updater in this list with the 2005-10-12 date attached to it.
In our case, it said we had iPod software version 2.2 installed, and needed updating. I clicked on the "Update" button, installed the software, and waited for the 'pod to reboot. Once it did, we had version 2.3 installed and we could transfer music again.
Hope this helps. Some people have reported this failing with a message that it found no firmware or something like that, but I know it's worked for some.

  • New songs synced to my ipod wont play, the songs play fine on itunes and appear on ipod but wont play..any help appreciated

New songs synced to my ipod wont play, the songs play fine on itunes and appear on ipod but wont play..any help appreciated

So, if you select one of these songs on the iPods screen, and try to play it, what happens?  The iPod does nothing?  It skips to the next song?
It's possible you will have to do a Restore on the iPod, if there is data corruption on the iPod causing this problem.  The Restore erases the iPod, and removes any corruption.
NOTE:  There may be a hardware problem, such as the iPod's hard drive becoming unreliable, that is causing this problem and data issues.  It may continue to operate as long as its data stays mostly unchanged, but if you do a Restore to update the hard drive's data in a major way, it is possible that the Restore will fail and leave the iPod non-operable.

  • About two years ago I bought an Ipod (4), recently I bought an Iphone 4S. I just wanna transfer some songs from my old ipod to my new phone and I am not being capable to find a way in Itunes!! Any help???

About two years ago I bought an Ipod (4), recently I bought an Iphone 4S. I just want to transfer some songs from my old ipod to my new phone and I am not being capable to find a way in Itunes!! Any help???

    Just transfer them from iTunes.
If they are not in iTunes. connect the iPod, then File > Devices > Transfer purchases.
Then connect the iPhone and sync these songs.

  • Help please. How can you fade or crossfade songs on the actual iPod??

Hi. I just got my nano today. Was prompted to download version 7, did it, and everything went smoothly. All songs transferred to my iPod, no problem. However, the cross fading did not transfer. However, given that I just downloaded version 7 I might not have set it to cross fade before downloading all my songs. Does this mean I have to delete all the songs and start over? I've tried connecting the iPod with the usb cable and setting the crossfade to 4 seconds but it doesn't translate to the iPod. Help please. I realllly love major fading. In other words i want NO silence between songs. Thanks !

Oh wait, cross fading and gapless are different. So I can have gapless which I think I do have because the next song starts realllllly fast after the last one ends. So that is probably gapless but cross fading is not available on any models? Is that it? thanks alot

I'm trying to transfer songs from an old ipod that I recently found onto a new iphone, but they are on different itunes accounts as well as different computers. Is this possible? Help please!
I called the help number and the lady said she would have to charge me $29 to do so, but that there are other ways that are free that someone may be able to help me with.

  • Cannot copy songs from itunes to ipod touch, although I've downloaded latest itunes version. Please help..

I've downloaded latest version of itunes but still didn't allow me to drag the songs that I want to my ipod touch. Anybody could help?? Thanks!

    Hello Juminten Cinta,
Since you are trying to manually add content to your iPod Touch, have you double checked to make sure the Manually manage music and videos option is ticked from under your iPod's Summary tab?
If it's already ticked, what exactly happens when you try to drag the songs over to your iPod?

  • Please help!! songs wont go to ipod

i have the songs in my itunes library, but when i plug in the ipod, it says that its updated, and all the songs arent on my ipod. i have already tried converting the id3 tags, and that hasnt worked. Please help!

I had that problem when I first started out. I ended up getting them all to play by dragging and clicking every downloaded song into the "Purchase" playlist. Even though they werent purchases, it worked. Although this might not be the "right" way to do it, it sure worked for me. Try dragging the songs to purchases and plug in your IPOD and see if that works.
    Hope that helps!

  • Double songs when bought on iPod. plz help?

My friend has a 3rd Gen iPod touch and when she buys songs from iTunes on her iPod, they come up as doubles. When they are bought on the computer and sync'd to the iPod, they are single. But when the iPod is sync'd to the computer it doesn't show that she has any doubles on iTunes, you can only see them on the iPod. How can we take the doubles off without deleting and re-buying the music on the computer??

JSnano, I have a similar problem. All songs appear on my IPOD under albums, but some artists do not appear under artists. It appears this happens whenever I download songs from a compilation album.
Does anyone know how to make artists from a compilation album (such as a "Best of the Seventies" album) appear under Artists? They appear just fine in my Itunes library, but not on my IPOD.

  • Need help getting artwork & song titles on my ipod

The computer that contains my ipod library cannot get internet access but I want to add artwork and song titles to my ipod.
I have a second computer that can get internet access, but I don't know how to update my ipod using that second computer since my library is stored on my first computer.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!
    Ipod 30GB

Copy your iTunes folder to the second PC and then you could connect to the internet for artwork etc and update your iPod from it. You can use your iPod to copy it over: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300173-en

  • Attempts to load library (2K songs) so slow that ipod locks up

I have a new 5th gen ipod that I can't get my meager library onto. It's very slow, e.g., 10-30 seconds/song, will run like that for about 90 minutes, load maybe 500 songs, and then the ipod says cannot read or write to disk. Tried phone support, they had me send the ipod back; no help; genius bar 3x, latest time they suggest erase and install. Any ideas? Have done the 4 steps many times to little avail. Suspect itunes 7 or interaction with that and 867 MHz processor, but really don't know. Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Today my girlfriend's ipod (40gb) started doing the same thing. When you hit play in shuffle mode it would begin playing the song but if you would skip the song it would lock up. Then I tried restarting it but it did the same thing and then the screen displayed a message with a sad ipod icon and saying that you had to go to www.apple.com\support
    we need help too!!!

  • Ipod Nano skipping songs... IPod or ITunes issue?

I purchased an IPod Nano and signed up for ITunes. I purchased a CD from ITunes and synced it with my IPod. That worked fine except for one huge issue - the IPod skips right over 5 out of the 12 songs on the CD! The songs play fine through my computer (Windows XP Pro SP2), just not on the IPod.
Is this an IPod issue or an ITunes issue? Has anyone dealt with this before?
    Tony

  • How to get songs from my old ipod to my new hard drive then to my new ipod?

Recently my computer crash and in order to fix it I had to get a new hard drive which means all my songs' files is gone! I had over 2,000! So I was wondering if there is a way in which I can take all the songs from my ipod and transfer it back to my computer now that it is fixed?? Also, my situation is a bit more complex because I am planning to get a newer ipod.
My old one is a ipod photo (I believe it is the 4th generation) and I am getting the 5th generation ipod video. Is there a way where I can transfer my songs from my old ipod back to my computer or itunes first then plug in my new one so it can update my old songs from my old ipod and my new songs' files in my computer all into my new ipod.
I reinstall itunes because I still use the program to listen to new songs that I have on my computer so I don't know if this information is useful or make things more confusing. I don't know if I should delete this version itune and reinstall the disk that comes with the ipod video? Or is it the same itunes version?
I really need help here I'm so confused on what to do and I am afraid of plugging my ipod in because it would update to my new song on my computer and delete all my old 2,000 songs from my ipod that I do not have backup files too because my old hard drive crash!
Any suggestions, advises, or comments are appreciate!

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod.
The transfer of content sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.
