Help - Sony Experia Miro ..

Hello, I bought a Sony Experia Miro at Darty in Turin on October 27th, 2012 for my nephew's confirmation. We opened it up just to verify that it works. yes, fine. Darty said that the phone could have been changed if not working, within 5 days from the date of the invoice. Confirmation day was November 25th. My nephed switched the phone on, wow wonderful.. after 10 minutes.. completely down, ok battery was may be low, let's charge it.  No life sign. even after many hours charge .. it cannot be switched on anymore, nothing, phone is dead.  Let's call Darty and see if they can replace it. Nop, sorry after 5 days.. nothing more is possible. Gave us a phone number, wrong one, they do not operate on normal guarantees, but if I wanted an extension of my guarantee.. let's find a Sony assistance in Turin.. found one, good! on November 28th we brought there the phone... we'll send you a sms when phone is ready.  Still waiting, but they gave us a phone number of Rome, where we could possibly get some news about the repair ... Is this serious ?? I mean, this is not an IPhone, ok, but I paid good money for it, is this serious ? Can you pls. help? Many thanks and ciao. Antonella

    I have a sony experia sp for past 18 months it has been slow since about 6 months oldapparently the problem is 2 fold operating system automatically updated by sony is not compatible with older sp handsets only with newer ones and built in memory is only 5GB each time an app updates all old data is left in this memory and cannot be erased i now only have a small portion of this memory lefthaving called upgrade team i have to wait till november to upgrade early or pay off remainder of my contractcan any one suggest an alternative because im simply planning to leave EE in January at natural end of my contract if i cant get this issue solved does anyone else experience same with sp handsets i know from talking to upgrade staff that he had spoken to someone with same issue

    From time to time Android releases a new version of their firmware. These can be either by a minor update or a major update.
    It is always advised after a major update you perform a factory restore of the phone.
    This will get rid of any left over residue files that the update has created. This left over files can hit your phones performance. Drain your battery and can cause issues.

    You will find it should help with most of your issues.
    If you are still having issues you may find it is an issue with the firmware itself.

    I guess it would depend on the definition of waterproof. There is a large difference  between getting a few spots of rain on a phone and dropping it in a sink full of water.
    As you are no longer in the country, I would recommend you speak with Sony Support in the UK.

  • Problems with restarting Sony Experia Z2

    I have had the Sony Experia Z2 for a couple months now. It's a good phone and all but it's a bit glitchy and can get very laggy for a few seconds. But other then that, it's a great mobile.
    The one problem I have all the time is when I take pictures or have pictures in my gallery then delete them, I restart the phone and they all come back to my gallery?

  • Sony Xperia Miro, failed update, bust phone - help!!!

    I was updating the software on my phone via my laptop, but my laptop died during the update so the update failed. Now when I try to turn the phone on it won't go further than the Sony startup screen. How can I fix this???

    I think you can do a SW repair with PC Companion, but I think it will delete all your settings and data.
    Turn off your phone/disconnect from computer. Open PC Companion, go to Support Zone, Click on Start under Phone SW update, a pop-up should appear. Click on Repair my Phone and follow the instructions.

  • HELP - Sony LCD Projection DF42WE655 with Mac Mini CoreSolo

    I have the display connected with a DVI to HDMI Cable. The picture looks beautiful but I can't seem to get the TV (Model DF42WE655) to completely fill in horizontally (it's perfect vertically) The display is set at 1024x576 now, but it makes no difference if I set it at 1280x720.
    I turned off "Overscan" in the settigngs to get the best fit so far,
    Any suggestions would be extremely helpful,

    I currently have a mac mini 1.42 running on a Sony KDF55WE655 with displayConfig X and love it. A friend wants to buy this for his sony and I would replace with the intel duo. I am having a hard time visualizing the exact screen appearance. Is there anyway to get someone to take a picture of the screen and post it online to see?

    I have a Macbook pro and I have read that in order to transfer videos from my Sony DCR PC106E camcorder to Imovie I needed a firewire and I bought that today but it's still not reconising my camcorder. Do I need to download some software that I'm  not aware of in order for this to work?
    Please help I'm working against the clock, I need to transfer 7 tapes before tonight because I need to return it to my friend.

    • Are You sure that You are using the FireWire Cable - USB-Cable will not work for miniDV tape Cameras
    FireWire - Sure not using the accompany USB-Cable but bought a 4-pin to 6-pin (or 9-pin) FW one ?
    • Test another FW-Cable very often the problem maker.
    Camera
    • Test Your Camera on another Mac so that DV-in still works OK
    • Toggle in iMovie pref. Play-back via Camera (on <-> off some times)
    • Some Cameras has a Menu where You must select DV-out to get it to work
    • Camera connected to "charger" (mains adaptor) - not just on battery
    • Camera set in Playback mode - NOT Recording mode
    Does Your Camera work on another Mac ?
    Sorry to say it is to easy to turn the 6-pin end of the FW-cable 180 deg wrong.
    This is lethal to the A/D-chip in the Camera = needs an expensive repair.
    (Hard to find out - else than import/export to another Mac ceased to work
    everything else is OK e.g. recording and playback to TV)
    A/D-box
    • Is the dip-switches set right ?
    • Set to same standard as recorded/editing e.g. NTSC 29.97fps or PAL 25fps
    • Try resetting it
    Connections
    • Daisy Chaining most often doesn’t work (some unique cases - it’s the only way that work (some Canon Cameras ?))
    Try to avoid connecting Camera <--> external HD <--> Mac but import directly to the Mac then move
    the Movie project to dedicated external hard disk.
    • FireWire-port - Can be re-setted by - Turn off Mac and disconnecting Mac from Mains/Power for 20-30 minutes
    External device’s (hard disk’s)
    • Should be FireWire as USB/USB2 performs badly and so does Airport or Net-work connected ones too.
    • MUST BE - Mac OS Extended formatted - UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - DO NOT WORK for video due to 4Gb barrier.
    Mac
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk ? Please specify the amount of free space.
    (Other hard disks don't count)
    I go for a minimum of 25Gb free space for 4x3 SD Video - and my guess is 5 times more for 16x9 HD ones
    after material is imported and edited.
    • Does Your Mac have a FireWire Port
    • White MacBooks - don't
    • MacBook-Air - don't
    if not then a few Mac’s has a PCM-CIA slot and there are FW-Cards that makes a FW-port this way
    else - NO SOLUTION
    Only option as I get it is either
    • Use another Mac to Capture material (to an external USB2 - Mac OS Extended formatted hard disk - or -
    • Change to another Camera that can be used with Your Mac (no there are no miniDV tape Cameras that can)
    • If Your Mac-Book has a PCM-CIA Card place - then there are FW-port-Cards and then
    You can import via this - but I've not seen this on more modern Macs. My PowerBook G4
    has one and this FW-Card-port works greatly.
    SoftWare
    • Delete iMovie pref. file may help sometimes. I rather start a new account, log into this and have a re-try.
    • Any strange Plug-ins into QuickTime as Perian etc ? Remove and try again.
    • FileVault is off ? (hopefully)
    • Screen Saver - OFF
    • Energy Saver - OFF
    Using WHAT versions ? .
    • Mac OS - X.5.4 ?
    • QuickTime version ? (This is the heart in both iMovie and FinalCut)
    • iMovie’08 (7.1.?), 09 or 11 ?
    • iMovie HD 6 (6.0.4/3) ?
    Other ways to import Your miniDV tape
    • Use another Camera. There where tape play-back stations from SONY
    but they costed about 2-4 times a normal miniDV Camera.
    • If Your Camera works on another Mac. Make an iMovie movie project here and move it
    over to Your Mac via an external hard disk.
    (HAS TO BE   Mac OS Extended   formatted - USB/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange WILL NOT DO)
    (Should be a FireWire one - USB/USB2 performs badly)

    Hi Bengt W, I tried it all, but nothing worked. Your answer has been helpful insofar as all the different trials led to the conclusion that there was something wrong with my iMovie software. I therefore threw everything away and reinstalled iMovie from the HD. After that the exportation of DV videos (there has not been any problem with HDV videos) to my Sony camcorders worked properly as it did before. Thank you. LKN 1935

    Thanks for all your suggestions. What I learned is that I had a software problem. I had something called "Nikon Transfer" on my Mac that was recognizing my Canon camcorder as a still camera and was preventing iMovie from working properly. After un-installing Nikon Transfer and doing a reboot, everything worked great.
    I never liked the Nikon Transfer software anyway--I guess I'll get a cheap card reader and use that to transfer photos in the future.

    What I exactly did.- put camera in play mode - open guide - choose connection guide - choose comp./printer (where to transfer movie to) - select connection.- i-link (on my camera) but equal to firewire - OK - choose HDV - choose NO for conversion of i.link.
    Settings are shown then (VCR HDV/DV.- HDV and i.link-conv..- OFF), press OK, OK, END.
    Switch camera off. Connect firewire cable to camera & Mac. Switch camera on, in play/edit mode.
    Open i-movie, choose import from camera. On screen below the camera connection is shown.- DV (HDV). Now you can import, automatically or manually.
    This worked perfectly for me. Took me 2 days to find out. Could not find any clear thread explaining what I had to do on the camera and the manual was not clear either.

  • Help sony dcr-sr57 not working with imovie 09

    I have a Handycam sony dcr-sr57e PAL. It is a compatible camera for imovie 09 (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3290?viewlocale=it_IT#7).
    But imovie don't recognize its files (mpeg 2).
    I can see mpeg2 files with quicktime X (i have mpeg2 component for quicktime).
    Why i don't see mpeg2 files of my camera?

    I've been diverted over 6 different support teams and no one has been able to even be able to address this problem.  I am trying to register my TV and media player in order to purchase movies on the Sony Entertainment Network.  Please help as Sony's lack of customer service call centers have not been able to even address the question.

    Using the supplied remote control, press HOME.
    Use the up arrow or down arrow button to select Applications.
    Select Sony Entertainment Network icon and press OK.
    Select Activate Enhanced Feature and press OK.
    Select Open.
    The registration code appears on screen.
    NOTE: The Registration code will not appear once the service has been registered.

  • Help- Sony and MAC

    I am unable to use my new Sony camcorde HDR- CX 700V. The book states I need to contact Apple for additional software. Can someone help?

    It deals with the requirements for using that model of camcorder. As the camera models roll out with improvements and features the drivers need to be updated to accommodate that fact. You might be able to resolve your issue with a trip to the Sony support site to download updated drivers.

  • Sony experia z3 dual screen problem. (not cracked)

    The problem with my phone is the touch screen isn't working. It works sometimes but only a little and I have to press down hard. And even then its registering the touch on a different part of the screen. The screen also doesn't sit flush on the phone. In the top left corner the screen is raise up a bit. I'm stationed in the middle east and everyone wants $240 to fix it!! Any help would be appreciated thanks
