[Help] Span or mirror? 15" 1GHz

Hi gurus,
I've roughly gone thru related threads on my question but can't really find an answer.
I have an 1GHz iMac G4.
And I've recently gotten a 32" lcd tv (samsung LA32R81B) with pc in. (VGA).
I plan to connect my mac to it for viewing of dvds.
Since the iMac have VGA out,I've bought a VGA display adaptor.
Question is.
should I be mirroring the imac's display or spanning it?
My tv's resolution is 1366 * 768.
I understand that there are a few apps regarding external display situation. them being.

which shld I be using to fully optimise the display?

If you're just looking to play a DVD then mirroring is all that you need to do. Just change the settings on the TV so that 1024x768 is expanded to full screen.

I use DW8. Unfortunately the wizard and the instructions are WAY beyond me. I can insert the object on my page but I have no clue how to import images into it, do I need to create separate thumbnails?, etc. Its a European company and the English isn't taht great either which doesn't help.I went through all their FAQs and examples and I don't have a clue.
I'm doing something very simple, all I need are VERY simple directions on how to make this work. It would be best if there was a YouTube or other video tutorial available. I paid 45 buck for this and it useless to me right now. Help!

Sorry can't help, don't know the product at all.
If you are having problems with it, then it's best to contact the people you purchased it from no? They should either help you with support issues, you you should get a refund if it doesn't work as expected.

Using three monitors with screen spanning and mirror at the same time

I have a mac pro with two graphics cards and I currently have three monitors connected using screen spanning which works fine.
But I would like to change this so the desktop is spanned over two monitors and the third monitor is a mirror of one of the other two.
Is this possible?

Only thing is you don't need to press the "?" button. But it seems a little temperamental when you option + click + drag. I found you to have to deselect but clicking anywhere in the window and reselected the window you wish to mirror (which I assume press the "?" does the same thing).
I never thought it was going to be this simple, I was sure I would need to install a third party app or something.

" mirror tab" does not appear on menu in Android beta version, as described in help topic on mirroring a webpage on tv via Chromecast..

Downloaded Firefox Beta for Android because I read about its support for Chromecast. I'm running Android ver. 4.2.1 on an ASUS TF700t tablet. I get that the Firefox menu is hidden because my tablet has a 3-dot menu, which I can access via Tools on the device menu. But Mirror Tab does not appear on the Tools menu.

Need help with a mirror image effect

For most of our product photos, I create a copy of the image, flip it vertically, fade it out, and then move it down to create a mirror image effect. Simple enough. But this one I'm having a problem. The product has 4 legs, and from this view, the back 2 legs are shorter. When I do my normal steps that I listed, I get similar to what you see below. I know all about drawing a marquee around part of the reflection, hitting Ctrl+T and then holding down Ctrl+Shift to skew just what's in the marquee. I've done this technique a lot, but it does not work for this particular image. What do I have to do to get the reflection of the back legs to line up with the actual back legs in the image? Thanks.

Well, Photoshop is not a 3D rendering program and you can only fake it by painting or assembling the reflection using your artistic skills and knowledge of perspective and reflections. From certain angles and with certain objects this could be quite easily done by just mirroring the 2D image but in other cases like this it wont' work. I made a quick scene in a 3D program to show you how the refection will actually be in real life - you will see the bottom of the table in the reflection and this is missing from the 2D image. You can assemble and position separately parts of the reflection from the 2D image by using the front sides of the table and and legs but the rest (bottom) of table has to be created from scratch.

Cat 3750-Span (Port Mirroring issue)

I am facing port mirroring issue in my setup. Details of the setup are mentioned below
Setup--
Stack of 4 catalyst switches WS-C3750X-48P running software 15.0(1) SE3 .Approximately 12 vlans are configured in this setup and port mirroring is done for all vlans with destination configured as single Gig Ethernet port...The setup works fine from mirroring perspective for 3-4 days and after that machine connected to destination port stops getting data.
Observations-
It has been observed that during the issue, the port configured for mirror destination has lot of packet drop/input errors on the port statistics.
If we configure only TX packet mirroring, it works for 8 -10 days
If we configure TX & RX packet mirroring, it works for 2-3 days
Testing done
Tried clearing counter on destination port but no success (mirroring doesn’t start)
Tried shut /no shut for the destination port but no success.
Tried restarting the machine connected to destination port but no success
Workaround
We need to reconfigure the mirroring configuration after removing the mirroring config from the switch. Once the same is done, mirroring starts working.
Want to understand
1-is there any HW limitation for the switch (destination port not capable of handling mirroring traffic)
2-is there any software related issue?
3-what can be permanent resolution for the same..

We have tried this previously but found same result.
1- we deleted the monitror session and recreated again with same session number
2-we deleted the monitor session and created new session (session id diffrent ) with same config..
in both cases its working for 3-4 days..

I need help on the mirroring on the ipad2

The mirroring slide ON and OFF button will not appear. I have looked on every website but I can't find anything. I can also nly show YouTube videos on AirPlay but on the games I can only get the sounds but nothing the TV screen is only black.

Does your user has the SELECT privelage granted for accessing those tables?

I have a ipad 2 and just got the 3rd generation Apple TV. I can AirPlay everything, but I don't have the mirror or airplay feature in the multitasking bar.

Span Port - Mirror Certain traffic

Following example -
I have my Inbound Internet connection coming into my switch into a Public VLAN. Coming into that Inbound connection is email from the outside world, among other traffic. Is there a way for me to SPAN this port but send only the email traffic to my monitoring device or is it a case of you either see all traffic or none? I wonder also, the traffic is most likely encrypted at this point which means probably can't determine what is what....

It's based on where you're going to see the traffic from. If you want to translate inside -> outside, you'll use "ip nat inside". Outside would be when you're wanting to translate an outside source to something else internal.

It also depends on what interfaces you have labeled as "ip nat outside" and "ip nat inside".
ip nat outside source list:
translates the source of the IP packets that are traveling outside to inside
translates the destination of the IP packets that are traveling inside to outside
ip nat inside source list:
translates the source of IP packets that are traveling inside to outside
translates the destination of the IP packets that are traveling outside to inside

Help! database mirroring ?

Hi All,
i am using oracle 10g, my concern is the if the database(1st) crashes my application may not work, so i need to have another database(2nd) with the same database structure as the 1st one. whatever changes i make to the 1st database to changes should happen to the 2nd also. how can i achieve this?

As fzheng said, absolutely your requirement can be achieved using the Oracle Standby Database - Oracle Data Guard Technology.
Oracle has good documentations on this. I would suggest you to carefully read, test and deploy it.

Help with database mirroring

Hi all,
I'm very new to using Oracle so please bare with me. My situation is i'm working for a warehouse company producing their website. In order to search our online catalogue I need to duplicate the product table everyday at a specific time. This is so we can access the data and use it for dev purposes without screwing with the warehouse database or slowing it down.
I don't know where to start on this so some pointers would be much appreciated.

Mirror agent & failed logout-- HELP!

There are a lot of other discussions on this topic, and many people seem to be familiar with the mirror agent failing to quit and freezing up the logout process, but I have been researching these discussions and the only one that had any tips was so specifically for people who understand macs in depth that I couldn't figure out what they were talking about.
I have been having this mirror agent & failed logout issue for a really long time and I don't know how to fix it.
And I don't understand when people just say "oh go to the whatever utility and take the tilda out of the library address" blah blah blah... I have no idea. :o)
I see in the other discussions that this may be related to .Mac (I do have a .Mac account) or iDisk (I do use idisk, and have already changed the syncing preferences off of automatic) or something about mobile accounts... i don't really know what that is.
logout is not the only time my powerbook is freezing up lately, and it's getting worse. I can no longer use Word without everything freezing up.
Please please help! Don't be afraid to sound patronizing. I literally know nothing about the inner machinations of computers. I have tried a few other things based on other support discussions, but the problem still persists.

Mirror Agent can turn into your worst nightmare if your connection is intermittent. It will lock up the entire computer until it finishes what it was trying to do.
This was annoying before, but it has become astoundingly un Mac like since .mac expanded to 10 gigs. Now you can wait 5 minutes if you have a problem. I know this because my wireless link (fixed wireless) someimes gets flaky, and I basically have to do situps until I can use my mac again.
So.... Here's what you do: Go to System preferences -> .mac ->iDisk and click STOP under iDisk Synching On. That should do it, but you will no longer have a local copy of your iDisk to work with.

2 mons - Fn+F7 = ONLY Mirror + Span No 1 or 2 ONLY?

I keep reading posts here that claim that F7 (or Function + F7, depending on you settings) can toggle between the MBP display, the external display or Mirrored displays.
But on my C2D MBP with an external display connected, F7 only selects between spanned or mirrored displays, and in fact that's what my user's guide tells me. It would be so handy to use a key command to quickly toggle exclusively to one OR the other display as well. Is there any way this is possible?

Mirroring Desktop at Different Resolutions

Hello,
Does anyone know if it is possible to mirror the desktop at different resolutions without my cinema display shrinking down the viewable area? I have a seperate 27" hdtv in my living room hooked up and I want to be able to use both displays on the desktop. When I choose to mirror, then change the resolution on my cinema display, it makes the actual viewing area the same resolution (in size) the same as the hdtv, and leaves a lot of blox surrounding the viewable area, but the tv looks great. Is there any way I can run the cinema display in full screen used at native resoluting while using lets say the hdtv at 800x600 both mirrored?
I am going to try and switch the ports on the back of my macpro and see if that makes a difference, any suggestions would be awesome!

Thank you for the reply, unfortunetly I know what your saying, I do know the difference between screen spanning and mirroring. I have a specific need where I want to mirror my desktop to two different screens at different resolutions. That is simply it. I have set up my hdtv in another room and cannot use the screen spanning since a) I cannot access the dock from my lcd, becuase my cinema display screen is in another room b) half the time I cannot even find the mouse. When I setup mirroring, and attempt to set the cinema display to bative 1600x1050 resolution, it puts the screen in a type of compressed viewable, where the actual dimensions are 800x600, which is what my hdtv is running at (I have to run it at 800x600 because I am using a homemade vga over cat5e converter and the hdtv looks and runs bests (without ghosting) at this resolution).
So the main question is, is it possible to diplsay the same desktop onto two different monitors at different resolutions with distortion of either dispkay?
If you would like a photo of what is happeneing on my cinema display, just let me know, it is hard to describe and I dont blame the doubtness of this thread.

ISE - DHCP SPAN and DHCP Profiling

Hi everyone,
We're embarking on an evaluation of ISE and trying to clarify my thoughts around the DHCP based profiling probes.
If we are using DHCP SPAN and have all DHCP traffic mirrored to ISE, should we still use IP helpers and the DHCP probe?
I would expect if we're using DHCP SPAN and mirroring all the traffic then using the DHCP probe with IP helpers on floor switches is a little redundant.

Just to add from my experience;
I am deploying ISE for the first time, I have around 100 sites ( I only use ISE+WLC 7.3, NO WIRED).
It's good to forward all dhcp request to ISE with IP-HELPERS before deploying.
This is what I did with one of my sites and I had no problem when they switched over as 90% of devices were already profiles using dhcp probe

P.s note that WLC 7.3 does send first http packet to ISE but only if you opened up safari first after authentication, if you opened any other application that uses http protocol it will send weird strings to ise, ie VIBER and so on.
