HELP! spilled tea on macbook!

So the other night I was working on a term paper when suddenly my phone rings.
And so, without thinking, I quickly went to pick it up.
But when I did so, I accidently knocked over a cup of tea.
I use no cream or sugar and it was about half a cup.
My macbook suddenly shuts down.
And needless to say, I started panicking!
I have learned a couple of things on this forum.
I have flipped it upside down to dry for about 3 days before I turned it on again.
What happened was, it went to the Apple Sign, but after about 3-4 seconds, it goes into a deep sleep mode. And when I try to turn it back on again, it remains in the deep sleep mode.
What's wrong with it? Is the logic board fried?
I checked my battery by pressing the button on the back and it seems to be fully charged.
Please help! I'm desperate! =(

It may not be dry yet. Or it may be fried. Really, the only way you're going to find out, besides waiting a few more days, is to take it to Apple. And even if it works again, the acid in tea is, I believe Not a Good Thing.
That said, a few years ago I spilled about half a cup of water on my beloved tiny Sony. It wouldn't start, and I sent it to Sony, which said it needed an $800 motherboard. The computer was 3 years old, a new one cost about a thousand dollars, and so I bought the new one and Sony returned the old -- which worked just fine when I turned it back on.
So there is always room for hope, but perhaps not a lot of room...
Why not wait a few days, try again, and if it doesn't work, try booting from your install disks and check out whether all your hardware is working. If that doesn't work, the only recourse is probably to send it to Apple.

1.Is that logic board will cover the warrenty and how can i make out is they changed it or just done nothing
2.what controll apple has on its service centre
3.when i asked them if something goes wrong and i will have to take it to any other service centre what to do,they suggested not to mention about logic board changing issue
4. is orignal logic board has some item no or something so that i can find out, i feel ,may be wrong that hey must have cheated me..and the charging port must have resolved the problem

Spilled tea on macbook, doesn't register battery...?

I spilled tea on my 13" macbook while it was closed. I dried it out. It's functioning normally except it doesn't register my battery so I can't use it unless it's plugged in. I got a new battery, same problem. Is this a short in the logic board? If so, is there a way I can fix it on my own or would i have to buy a completely new one?

Check the battery connector if it is corroded then that is what you will have to fix. Try cleaning it and seeing if that will make a difference.

I spilled milk tea on Macbook Pro

I spilled milk tea on Macbook Pro and few drops went inside audio and one USB port. Both are not working. What should I do? Someone suggested cleaning it using nail polish remover. Will it help?

I wouldn't use acetone at all (nail polish remover). I wouldn't think that cleaning the ports would do any good anyway. The ports probably shorted out and are simply not going to be useable -> you would have to get a new logic board to fix the problem.
Liquid and electronics are a bad 'mix'.

Spilled tea on my macbook

My 4 yo cousin took a sip of tea, didn't like it and accidentally spilled it on my macbook's keyboard. I immediately dried it using towel and restart to see if there could be any possible damage I can see before I knew that it should be turned off. I didn't notice anything wrong though, the keyboard were functioning normal but I can't be sure that there's no liquid inside. I think that amount of the tea wasn't that significant since my cousin spilled it from his mouth but I can't be sure still. Is there anything I can do to make sure there's nothing wrong? I now leave it turned off and place it in front of a fan to dry more. Thanks

So mac and yogurt were inside my bag and the yogurt's lid accidentally opened getting into my mac's charger, usb and headphones port. I tried turning it on and everything seemed fine, sounds and the heaphone port were both working but the usb port wasn't so i just wiped away the yogurt. After wiping everything I could see off, i tried connecting my mac to the power and it's working. Usb port not working tho and the sound stopped working, tried connecting a headset and still not working. Those seem to be the only problems. Yes, everyone tries the "dry it out" method, doesnt work,... when it does 'work' it works for a while until corrosion sets in. Make a service call.

I spilled tea on my mousepad on my Macbook pro..I quickly wiped it away. It was spazzing out initially but I turned off my computer for a bit and now it seems to be okay. Should I be worried? Is there damage that is just waiting to hit? Please help!

Here's my stock short answer:
"Whenever a liquid spill occurs the first thing that has to happen is the laptop should be shut down immediately. All power must be removed as soon as possible. It is especially important that the battery be disconnected and removed.
All affected parts must be removed from the laptop. No attempt should be made to start/restart the computer.
Then all affected parts would be washed in deionized water and blown dry with compressed air. (In a water spill the deionized water is probably not as critical. Depends on the mineral content of the water.) and blown dry with compressed air.This is especially true of the large chips on the logic board. Water can wick under them and cause havoc.
The logic board should be placed in a drying/dehumidifing oven for at least two days. Longer depending on the spill.

So clearly some liquid got to the logic board. Over time this can totally kill that board. I've got pictures if you're interested.

If it's working stop using it and turn it upside down on a towel. Keyboard on the towel and let it sit for at least a day. If you or someone you know can unplug the battery as in that last site do so. Inspection would take someone who knows what to look for.

Big coffee spilled on my macbook. Now ok except battery.

Hello first thanks for your help.
I spilled a BIG cup of unsugared coffee on my macbook pro 13p retina Mavericks. Brand new it only has 4 weeks.
I have let it dry for 48h. Everything is OK (amazing!) BUT it only works when it is plugged into the wall.
This means the battery doesn't work anymore. As soon as I unplug, it shuts down.
State of battery is "must be replaced now".
Also I have a few questions...
- is it likely if I get the battery replaced it will be OK? (coffee could have damaged something else... battery connector, ...?)
- if I get the macbook opened, and try to clean with demineralized water, dry again all, could my battery recover?
- is there any software or utility that could try to fix this?
- can I buy the battery myself (where?) and replace it? I would prefer a brand new original battery
- seems my computer is SLOW since this. Can this be linked to the battery, and get better when a new battery is in?

i spilled tea on my keyboard, and since then my webcam won't work. in one application, it comes on-the green light - and immediately shuts off.

I have never seen this specific behavior caused by a spill. I doubt that the two are directly related. If you want to try saving some money before buying a new keyboard and regain the use of all of your keys, you might try this:

Spilled Tea on HP G50

Hi,
I have an HP G50 116CA laptop. Two days back, I spilled tea on my laptop by mistake. I turned off the computer right away. I had tried to remove as much with table cloth. I did not turn it back on until at least 12 hrs later. It booted up everything seemed too work..including all keys, but they do not retract properly and touch pad does not seem to work. I try to turn it on-off but that the white light does not even flash. Please guide me what I should do and what the problem could be

Make sure the metal shavings do not get inside the notebook, move to another place to drill, not where you are disassembling the notebook.

I spilled tea with sugar on my keyboard and right plug it off from my mac, then I wiped the keyboard dry. After that I put it near the radiator for a night. So, what should I do? Any ideas? Is there anybody who had the same situation?

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. I had a similar experience a few months ago when I spilled a mug of coffee over my brand new Logitech mouse. I tried doing as you did by letting it dry out on a radiator, but this was not very successful. The buttons were very sticky and the scroll wheel did not work at all.
I did manage to completely revive the mouse however by rinsing it thoroughly in running water and then letting it dry out over a radiator for three days. It has worked perfectly since then.
If your keyboard does not work after just drying it out, then you may want to try giving it the same treatment. It may help - or it may kill it completely. Just make absolutely sure that it is completely dry before re-connecting it to your computer.

Spilled 3 tablespoons of tea on my macbook's keyboard. i dried it immediately and turned it off. i also tried puting it up side down with a towel and there was no water left on the towel when i checked it out. I turned it on and there was nothing wrong aside from the space bar was sticky and hard to press. i took it out, cleaned it and now its working fine. Can anyone help me connect my Macbook Air to a SAMSUNG TV. When I follow the basic instructions (Thunderbolt to HDMI connection) the screen on my computer goes grey and an error message appears inviting me to press any button to restart the Macbook. When I do this nothing happens. Only when I disconnect the computer from the TV does the Macbook allow me to login. The TV does not receive any signal from the Macbook even though I know the HDI port works fine. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Do I need to enable something on the Macbook?

An update...
I downloaded Apple's (rather large!) list of software updates today, and I was finally able to recognize my iPod again. I did a restore using the iPod updater from 06-2006, and all seemed to work OK. (I'm afraid to try the new one again!)
Then I tried to re-load my music library from iTunes, and got stuck. It froze up after a while and wouldn't go any further.
When I disconnected my iPod from my computer, I find 2 podcasts and nothing else, though iTunes told me it had transferred 600+ songs. Those 2 podcasts do play fine, and the basic iPod software all seems to be intact.
So -- anyone get through this connection problem and have any ideas to share??
