HELP...Stuck in Simple Finder mode...

I recently installed Snow Leopard on my computer. I remember it asked something about the finder, and I think I may have chose Simple Finder mode. Is there a way to revert to Full Finder Mode? "Run Full Finder" is not an option in the Finder menu.

If I'm not in Simple Finder, where is this "Go" menu that my friend says I should have?
No idea, but you definitely don't have Simple Finder enabled. I checked, on another machine here... your Finder menu would be drastically different, among many, many other things. If you don't have a Go menu between View and Window in the Finder, I honestly have no idea what you might have done. I suspect you're going to need to reinstall the system. I'd advise making an appointment with a Genius at an Apple Store and taking your machine in for them to look at.
I'm trying to access my system dictionary so that I can use this educational game he created. But, this dictionary is no installed, and I don't have a "Go" menu.
I'm not sure why you would have to locate the system dictionary file manually to use his game or why you believe that the dictionary is not installed when you can't find the Go menu to access it. Open the Terminal and paste in the following command:
open /usr/share/dict
This should open that folder in the Finder, showing the desired words file.
I don't know why this is, but I remember being given two options when installing "Snow Leopard" that had to do with the Finder. So, I'm thinking I must have chose the wrong option.
I don't recall being given any such choice with any Mac OS X installation... can you recall the wording of the message?

  • Approved applications not showing up in simple finder (parental controls)

    I set up a limited access account for my son and turned on the simple finder option. I went through and selected the programs that I want him to have access to. However, not all the selected applications show up in the simple finder of the limited account. A few programs that were downloaded (a simple paint like program and a word processing program) don't show up, and I can't figure out how to get my son access to these short of turning off the simple finder. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    I'm not sure what the answer to this would be, because I don't use the Simple Finder mode much. However, you may have to specify in the Parental Controls preferences exactly which applications you want on his account. For example, instead of taking off some applications, add on the paint application and such. Post back here if you need more details or if that doesn't work. Another thing you could always do is to copy an application over your account into his, although I'm not entirely sure how you could do that. Hope this helps.

  • Simple Finder Problems

    I am the admin for a mobile computer lab of ibook G4's. Having problems with the simple finder student account. I created a folder of alias's to connect to our Student Saved Server (OS9), click on it to open the folder it opens and automatically tries to connect to each share point. The student isn't able to log-in since it's not the correct point and hangs the machine most of the time. If you click cancel enough times (about 10 share points) it still will sometimes hang the finder. It only happens in simple finder mode and I have check RW access points on the folder. Tried mulitple times with different rights ect. Any ideas?

    Create an account in System Preferences -> Accounts, and play around with the Parental Controls. Not a very good name in my opinion, but that's where you can set what applications they have access to. For instance, click the box next to Finder & System, and then click the Configure button. You can select exactly which applications they have access to.
    No need to use the Simple Finder Setting, as the other mode will allow you much more control.

    My phone (5C) is stuck in the restore mode which is preventing a backup which is preventing installation of IOS 8.1. Need help.

    Hi Petesmith643,
    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
    It sounds like your device is in recovery mode. I understand you would like to back it up before updating to iOS 8.1 but cannot because you are in recovery mode. I would first suggest restarting your device to exit recovery mode.
    If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    If you put your device into recovery mode by mistake, restart it. Or you can wait 15 minutes and your device will exit recovery mode by itself.
    Cheers,
    Joe

    To force quit an application, choose Force Quit from the Apple menu (or press Command-Option-Esc), then choose the unresponsive application in the Force Quit window, and click Force Quit.
    Optionally, you may be able to Option-right click the application's icon in the Dock and choose Force Quit from the contextual menu.
    If this is not an option, hold down the power button (5-10 seconds) until the mac shuts off and then restart.

    Maybe:
    Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
    Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .

  • Help Using Navbar Find mode with dynamic viewobjects,

    What needs to be added to my coded to make the JUNavigatorBar QBE function in the "ADF Swing: Binding dynamically created ViewObjects to ADF Swing" example posted by Frank Nimphius on March 07, 2006. My table loads from the dynamic viewobject and the Navbar moves the cursor over each row in the table but when I go into Find mode ,the table row for entering the search criteria is not editable. I must be missing something basic here, but I am at a lost for the solution.

    Ok, I found this solution to make the dynamic view objects example 'searchable' from the NavigatorBar 'Find' button.
    I had to extend and replace the JUTableBinding class when creating a TableBinding which is then set as the model for my dynamic JTable using .setModel(); The rest of the example code works without modification.
    class MyJUTableBinding extends JUTableBinding{
    public MyJUTableBinding(javax.swing.JTable control,
    JUIteratorBinding iterBinding,
    java.lang.String[] attrNames){
    super(control, iterBinding,attrNames);
    public boolean isCellEditable(int row, int col) {
    return true;
    }

  • ADF - how to  set find mode programmatically

    I have implemented the simple ADF search form described within Jdeveloper 10g help.
    If the query returns no data, I want to set 'find mode', and return to the find form. Anyone know the relevant API calls?

    You could use a JSTL expression to do this.
    <c:if test="${empty bindings.<collection>.rangeSet}">
    <c:redirect ....
    </c:if>
    and redirect through a DataAction on which you've dragged the find operation for that collection, when then forwards via success back to the screen. The only thing to watch is you'll need to wrap that above <c:if> statement in a test so that it only ever executes if you're not in find mode

  • My iPhone 6 is stuck on Signal Search mode

    My iPhone 6 is stuck on Signal search mode since the morning. I have rebooted several times, and also updated to iOS 8.1 but still stuck on signal search mode. It's not a carrier problem. Can't make or receive calls. Please help.

    Hi,
    I'm from Israel and I also have the same problem that began today. I have an iPhone 6 bought from the US in november and today it suddenly didn't connect to a cellular network (stuck in searching). The SIM works on other phone, and my iphone still didn't find a network with another SIM.
    I tried all the following with no luck:
    - Reset Network, eject SIM, different SIM
    - Upgraded to 8.2 from 8.1.2
    - Upgraded to 8.3
    - Reset Network again
    It's so annoying, confusing and disappointing, I feel I can't do anything now, I do not have a backup phone and I need a phone for work, life, etc....
    I feel like I threw $700 US down the drain.
    Luckily I have a friend going to SF next week and I'll try to send it back with him for repair or replacement in the US.
    Meanwhile I'll suffer with whatever phone I can borrow from some friends.
