Help.  Suddenly unable to sync my ipod classic

Help! i-tunes no longer recognises my i-pod classic.  As soon as I connect my i-pod, i-tunes freezes.  And when I unplug it I get one of two messages 'The ipod (name) cannot be synched.  the required file cannot be found' or 'The ipod (name) cannot be synched. An unknown error occurred (-124).  I have re-installed i-tunes on my computer and also reset my i-pad but nothing seems to help. My ipod plays fine but I am unable to load any new music which is soooooooooooo frustrating.  Any help and advice would be really appreciated.

  • Unable to sync my Ipod classic

Someone please help. I received an Ipod classic in August 2008 and created an itunes library which included some of my own CDs. I received a new laptop at chistmas and thats when the trouble started. I was unable to view all the audio books that were on my library. Then it got worse, I downloaded podcasts on sunday evening and now my Ipod will not sync my music, music videos or audio books. I have tried resetting the ipod but without success. I have read a few postings and I think that the problem maybe with itunes. I have also tried getting the music through windows media player but then I get no artwork. Please help

  • I'm suddenly unable to sync my iPod because the playlists no longer exist.

I plugged my ipod in like normal, and when I hit the button to sync it, it said that "songs on the ipod cannot be synced because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist".
when i unplugged my ipod, all of the songs were gone, but they were still in the itunes library on the computer.
    please help!

You get this problem when the option 'Sync Music - Selected playlists' is being used to sync your iPod. If the playlist selected is deleted from iTunes the iPod no longer has a location to sync from and you get an error. (Syncing selected playlists by the way is a useful setting to use when the iPod is smaller than the iTunes library). However you can make a new one or make use of an existing one.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -My iPod for example (the dash will position it at the top of the playlists in Sources). You can make it a smart playlist that picks the songs for you or just a normal one and drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 3700MB for a 4G iPod Nano. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod:
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
    Syncing Music to iPod
To make a random playlist go to File>New Smart Playlist.
    Uncheck "Match the following rule"
Check "Limit to" put "3700" in the number box, choose "MB" from the first list box, choose "Random" from the next list box. Check "Live Updating"
When you want to change the selection in the smart playlist just delete everything in it and it will add a new selection. When you want to change the normal playlist just delete out what you don't want and drag in a new selection.

  • HT201272 Can anyone help with HD film syncing with iPod classic?

I have downloaded an HD film to my iPad 3 which i have managed to transfer to my macbook. How can i get it on my iPod classic without having to purchase the SD version?

You cannot put an hd movie on an ipod classic at all.
When you purchase an HD video on a supported device or computer, only HD video will be downloaded. To download the SD version, you need to download the video again from your Purchased page. Conversely, if you purchase an HD video on an unsupported device, the SD version will be downloaded. Then, you will need to download the HD version from your Purchased page. • Syncing my iPod classic with Itunes on Windows 8

    Hello,
I completed an itunes update a few days ago. Since that time; I have been unable to sync my iPod classic with my library or even manage it. I have been searching and see that this has become an issue for many people who use Windows 8. Is there any way I can fix this issue? I do not want to manage my iTunes music on the cloud. I just want to be able to plug in my iPod and manage it through iTunes. Is there any way I can do this?
I contacted support for assistance, but didn't really receive any answers to my questions. The first reply was asking me what my issue was (when I had already wrote a lengthy explanation of the issues I was having) and the follow-up said that I needed to call to speak with a representative to see about support options including fee-based support. I don't feel that I should have to pay fee to understand why I can no longer sync my iTunes with my iPod. I have many songs in my library and I have paid for them all. Why can't I have access to them on my iPod? As it is; I can't even manage my playlists anymore.
I am considering selling my iPod if I can't get this issue resolved. I really don't want to because it is still fairly new, but I don't see any reason to keep it if I can't use it.
If anyone has any feedback or knows something that might help me get this sorted out I would be very grateful!
    Thanks--

    how did you fix it?

  • Unable to sync any iPod  in iTunes -- corefp.dll error in windows

I have a frustrating problem with iTunes and need help. I've been using iTunes for several years and have had no problems. Last night I tried to sync and received an error from iTunes saying that iTunes had encountered an error. In looking at the error message, it referenced the file corefp.dll. I've tried syncing three of my iPods, and the same thing happens. The iPods are recognized and they start to synch but after a few minutes I get the error message. iTunes sync's fine with my AppleTV, but not with any of my iPods.
I've uninstalled iTunes and reninstalled it, used the Apple Update service to see if there were any new updates (there were none) but that did not help. I also deauthorized my computer with the iTunes store and then reauthorized it. That also did not help. Everything I have in iTunes has been purchased. Everything works in Apple TV.
I'm using Windows XP (latest service pack) and the latest version of iTunes. My iPod touch has the newest version operating system (I believe it's 2.2.1)
Any ideas on what I should do?
    Thanks

I am also unable to sync my iPod classic to iTunes 8.0.2.20 (my Apple TV would sync just fine). I read on other threads that there is an issue related to DRM. I deauthorized my computer, and the sync completed fine (minus the DRM songs of course). Apple has an issue to fix

im unable to sync my ipod touch due to not enough space ? even after i deleted bunch of podcasts  from it ? help pl.

    - When you deleted them did the requested amount of storage space decrease?
    - Try resetting the iPod. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - When you look at the colored bargraph of storage usage on the iPod in iTunes how much is taken up by "other". If greater than about 3/4 GB then restoring from backup usually reduced the "other".

  • HT1420 I am unable to authorise my iPod Classic on my new harddrive.  All previous hardrives over the years have crashed or been repaired and I never deuathorised the iPod at the time. Can you help me to authorise it please?

I am unable to authorise my iPod Classic on my new hard drive.  All previous hard drives have crashed or been repaired and I never deauthorised the iPod at the time. Can you help me to authorise it please?

    Hello zoefromoranmore,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
In order to deauthorize devices which you no longer have, you will have to use the deauthorize all command, found in the article below.
    Deauthorize all computers
If need to deauthorize your computer but you can't access it, you need to deauthorize all computers. After you authorize 2 computers, you'll have the option to deauthorize all computers for your Apple ID. You can deauthorize all computers once per year.
Why should I deauthorize all of my computers?
To make sure that only you can play your content, or to free up authorizations used by your old computers. Here's when you should deauthorize all computers:
    Your computer doesn't work anymore
You sold or gave away a computer and didn't deauthorize it first
What happens when I deauthorize all computers? Will I lose my content?
Just like deauthorizing a single computer, you won't delete anything if you choose to deauthorize all computers. You just won't be able to play content that you bought from iTunes on those computers until you reauthorize them. You need to have the computer to reauthorize it.
How do I deauthorize all of my computers?
Using one of your authorized computers, follow these steps:
Open your account in iTunes (you may need to sign in with your Apple ID). Or open iTunes, click Store > Sign In, and enter your Apple ID and password.
    Click Deauthorize All.
The Deauthorize All button appears only if you have more than 2 authorized computers. If you don't see the Deauthorize All button, that means you only have one authorized computer.
I deauthorized all of my computers. What should I do now?
Reauthorize each computer that you want to use with iTunes. Go to Store > Authorize this computer and enter your Apple ID and password.

I need to sync my iPod classic to a new computer shared with my wife how can I sync my music to her library?

I would recommend enabling 'manual mode' on the iPod so that it can be synced to two libraries without affecting the existing content on the device.

I am trying to sync my ipod classic with itunes 11.0.4 but cant. Cant find source on itunes either. Can anyone tell me what procedure to follow. I also cant find source on itunes. Ipod do show the connection but cant see anywhere on Itunes
can any one help with any information

I'm having sync issues too since I've updated to 11.0.4.  My ipod 160 will no longer sync properly or will hang when attempting to sync yet my 4th gen touch doesn't have any problems.  I am thinking about uninstalling it and rolling back to an older version of itunes.

So recently I synced my iPod Classic 160 GB like I did so many times and when I wanted to play some music afterwards it couldn’t find any files on the iPod anymore. However when you look in the settings it displays that ~roughly 90 GB free space is available. Seen the fact that I had about 60 gigs of music this doesn’t seem like a coincidence and I think my music is still somewhere on the ipod but the HDD isn’t recognizing it anymore.
I’ve tried resetting it, and resetting it to factory settings, which didn’t work. When connected to a desktop it won’t be recognized by iTunes, it displays an error message that the iPod cannot be read and that I have to reset it to factory settings.
I’ve spent some time researching this problem yesterday and I ran into a myriad of vaguely similar problems didn’t really offer any help. Currently I’m thinking that formatting the iPod might work, and restoring the software afterwards. However this is a rather bold strategy so I’d like to consult you here first.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi turingtest2,
Thank you for the info, with formatting my iPod I managed to connect it to iTunes again.
However..in the page you linked to there is a section about how transferring large amounts of data can dump your library. That seems to be the problem in this case. It won't even allow me to transfer more than 2 gigabytes of music per sync, if I go higher it will dump everything again. Having over >60 GB of music in my library, this is disastrous to say the least.
Do you think that there is any other solution besides the method you mentioned involving Smart Playlists?

  • I'm trying to sync my ipod classic with itunes but the error message says that it can't be synced because the required disck can't be found. What does this mean?

I'm trying to sync my ipod classic with my itunes library, but I get a message saying it can't be synced because the required disk can't be found. How do I find what this disk is? I have over 2,000 songs in my itunes library but only 497 sync. Help!

Could any of the music have been sourced on an external USB drive or a network drive? In iTunes, go to one of the songs that won't sync. Bring up the info page, and look at the location of that song on the disk. Does that file and path exist? That could be your problem, especially if they were on a USB drive you forgot about.
