Help - Suggestions - Please!
I recorded narration and converted it to aiff. I have ppt
images that I'll convert to useful format. I want to create a
Flash-based online presentation with images changing at specific
audio cues (basically a linear presentation -- player controls and
interaction are not primary considerations at this point).
What's the preferred approach:
1. Import audio and images into Flash and build there?
2. Build everything in a video editing environment (I'm
experienced -- Avid MC, Final Cut Pro, Premiere), then convert to
fla?

I just did what you're talking about and I went with #1. I
imported the audio and images into Flash and created, basically, a
linear presentation with audio cues. This presenation was
originally in PowerPoint, but when running off a CD, the audio cues
got messed up so I suggested we try it in Flash.
The first attempt looked great and I learned some tricks to
make the next one a lot cleaner but the whole presentation looked
and worked great. Now I have a presentation that will run as a .swf
file, .mov file, will run on a PC locally or off the Internet and
I've converted it to a DVD format to run on a DVD player and
standard TV. It's awesome. Plus, I haven't tried it yet but it
should also convert to iTunes to play on an iPod. Now our
presentations can run on just about any platform.
My next task (and the one I'm struggling with now) is to use
the Slide Presentation feature of Flash. Building the slides are as
simple now as in PowerPoint. I'm just working out some timing
issues.

I have a simple delimited text file of current weather observations (less than 20 items) updated every 15 minutes, which I display via an embedded Flash animation. I would like to do away with the Flash approach, and display the data in tabular fashion within a webpage.
What do people consider the best approach to getting the latest data out of the text file and into the webpage? I already use some simple php to get the data into variables for the Flash approach (simply explode the text file into an array), but I don't know enough php to see how to flexibly use this within html ie use the array variables at later points in the html.
I'm sure that there are several possible approaches here but I lack the depth of knowledge to decide where to start. So, suggestions please, and then I can go do some reading.

Ianphp is run only once and is done so before the user sees the page so it cannot display anything for you. The only way to do this without flash or java is with javascript and asynchronous xml. You may have heard this as AJAX and is what google uses for its suggestions, maps, w/e. I recommend using a javascript toolkit such as Mootools because it is simple, fast, and has better approaches than other frameworks. Simply give an id to a div you want to update regularly, and execute
$('divid').load('pageurl');
and it will inject the contents of the url into the div.
It can call on a php script and every time you load the php file, the php file will get re-executed.

PP 6.0 on Mid 2011 iMac. Helpful Suggestions, please?

New here. Used to cutting AVID but wanted to start using PP 6.0 on my iMac at home for personal and side projects. Reading over the problems some are having with their iMacs, it's starting to look like I might be screwed, but I'm hoping there's a few solutions out there.
My system:
IMac, Mid 2011, 21.5. 16GB RAM,
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6770M
storage: GTech 8 TB Thunderbolt.
I'm running into constant crashes. Two different projects so far.
1st Project is HDV footage from my old Sony camera. Captured fine, seem to cut fine, but when I started dealing with some graphics and keying issues, PP6 would stop responding and I'd have to Force Quit out.
2nd Project is a show reel for a friend. I'm cutting pieces of his compositing work out of Large HD resolution AVI and MP4 files. Basically he's grabbed copies of the films he worked on and I'm pulling clips from those. This one crashes every 2 minutes just out of spite I think.
I'm writing all that to find out if it's the media I'm using, or the system config, or if there's something else I'm unaware of, though I think most likely a combination.
Again, ideally I won't be cutting a lot of HD material, or much long form, but I wanted a home editing solution that would work. BTW.. I was running a AVID demo version with no issues. sd

Dead iPhone3 Can anyone offer any helpful suggestions please.
My iPhone 3G, new in July 2010 has suddenly and completely died without warning. Have tried reset but topally dead. Not dropped or wet.
Connect to the wall charger for 30 minutes. Then hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time for up to 30 seconds, or until an Apple logo appears. If nothing happens your phone, cable, or charger is broken. Try with a different cable and different charger. If something happens but the phone does not become usable (such as a picture of a USB plug) let us know.

NAS suggestions please for iMac and MBP
I have an iMac (new style 2.8 Extreme with 750gb HDD) that I want to share the data with my MBP. I would like all my documents on a central drive that both machines read and write to.
I do have a g-tech 750gb FW800 drive that I want ot use to back up my docs, photos and movies.

HP has a good product called MediaVault with a single hard drive sizes from 250 or 300GB I don't remember to 500GB with another expanable slot for any drive size. -
When I try to set up Icloud control panel in Windows Vista, I get "your setup couldn't be started because the Icloud server stopped responding. I've tried loads of fixes suggested on the net but none worked. Can anyone help me please?

My iPhone has crashed and i went to iTunes to restore it and after waiting for it to be restored it said "The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (2006). Can anybody please help suggest what i should do now?

My iPod classic wont connect to the computer. The light comes on but it doesn't even come up with 'connected' screen on the ipod. Have tried different computers, usb cables and ports, as well as restarting computer, updating itunes, and rebooting ipod. Still works in Logitech iPod player, however it has just wiped itself of all songs so at the moment I'm stuck with a useless iPod. Any suggestions please???
If you happen to have a USB docking cable that is new (or close to being new), try using that one. If the cause is the dock connector on the iPod becoming worn, if you try it with a cable that is not worn, it's possible that it may connect for data.
I believe the dock connector is internally part of the logic board, so it may not be economical to have a repair shop (including Apple Store Genius Bar) do the repair. You'll need to ask for pricing.

If it's the most recent iPod classic, it appears to be quite difficult to pry open. I have an older 4th gen (and 3rd gen) "classic" iPod, and those are fairly eash to pry open, using the plastic tools. -

Thanks for your answer. I'm working my way through the blog, and trying to take all of the steps. Hitman Pro did find 5 trojans, and many remnants of other malware, so hopefully that will help. I'll post again when I've finished trying everything else.
I had already run Malware Bytes, It did not find/remove the sweetim toolbar, but found a different trojan. Something is up with my antivirus I think. -
My o2 email account does not work when sending from my MAC it will accept incoming mail but not send it gives me a message that o2 account (offline) my mac I have no problem with my iPhone or mac laptop. any suggestions please.

I did what you've told me, new account and manually copied my files from Time Machine. I had lots of permissions problems, but at the end, almost everything is in order... It seems it had to be with some of the Apple Preferences, but I can't be sure, as most of them were dumped to the trash can.
I still don't have my Mail Rules back, unfortunately, although I did goggled some. It is a pity, as I had around 30 or 40 of them, getting my mail in order to each of its mailboxes, but it is a small price as the rest doesn't show the before syntoms.

After getting in a confused mess with my Apple ID password which I use very rarely, I have apparently managed to change it successfully Co-incidentally or related in some way that I don't understand, I now cannpt access mail on my desk machine. The message asks for my mail passowrd which I have no about or how to change it. All is this is connected to my sleeping enemy "The Cloud" I fear! I can access mail on both my iphone and ipad. Can someone help me please? Thanks

I updated my iphone 5 to ios 6.something (something about the speakers) to get rid of a notification and it went into recovery mode!!! My photos are not backed up or on icloud. i havent restored yet because i cannot lose my photos/videos, etc. but tinyumbrella wont work to exit recovery mode. HELP! please:(
i tried tinyumbrella (and another similar software) to exit recovery but it only remains on the apple logo stuck there. please is there anything else i can do? i've contacted apple and they have told me the only choice i have is to restore and lose all my data.
my iphone isn't jailbroken and i've updated before without this problem so i'm not sure what has happened. is there anyyy hope please ???First I would try to hold down the power and the home button for about 15sec, but at least as long as the iPhone restarts, if it is still stuck or still in recovery mode then I can suggest you the tool "Wondershare Dr. Fone for iOS", it is both a Windows and Mac tool and I just used it today to get my iPad out of the Recovery mode.
Tell me if any of these options worked for you.
