    Hi bluegrandpanash,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you backed up your iPhone to iCloud before updating the software, first try the steps under "Restore from an iCloud backup" in this article to recover your data:

On the mac, only contacts in the "iCloud" section will sync to other devices.  Those in the "On my mac" section do not.  Could that be your problem?
To test the icloud situation, log into icloud.com with your mac's safari and to to the contacts page.  What you see there is what icloud has received from mac and iphone.

  • How do i fix the fact that my daughter synced her iphone to my account now I have all of her conacts and most of mine on my phone. my contacts are a mess along with favorites

my daughter synced her 3g in my account accidentally now since ive synced my iphone 4, her contacts and mine are combined and my contacts are a mess . example, my favorites have a few names and numbers but some are gone completely, and in contacts some are gone completely too. VERY Frustrated please help if you can. I use windows xp

I updated to iOS 5.0.1 days ago and didn't receive that notification until just now...
This time I synced new photos I took yesterday, and it gave me the:
"iTunes Sync: 54 items could not be synced. See iTunes for more information"
Perhaps it kicks off when new items get synced.
I've decided to rent a movie yesterday. Once it gets deleted, I'm curious to see if it jumps to 55 items.

  • I downloaded the ios6 to my iphone and my moms phone  Now they are syncronized and I lost my contacts. All my phone numbers have emails in them but no phone numbers. Now whenever I get or send a text it shows up on her phone. How do I reverse it?

I downloaded the ios6 update for the iphone to my phone and my moms"s phone. Now they are syncronized and I lost my contact telephone numbers. Now when I get a text or send  text it shows up on my mom's phone. I asked for help from the people at the ATT store and had no idea how to help me. That is crazy that they don't even know anything about their own products! This is EXTREMELY frustrating. Did you create a software that cannot be reversed or corrected? How to I restore my phone to the way it was? I am being told it can't be done. I have been an ATT customer for 8 years but I would love to go to Verizon right now. Pleae let me know how to reverse this and get the phones unsynced.

If you share an Apple ID, both of your phone numbers should be linked to that ID. You should be able to use your phone number as well. My wife, my daughter and I all share an Apple ID for purchases, and we each text from our iOS devices using our own iPhone numbers.
When iOS 6 came out, you were able to link the phone number with your Apple ID to use for Messages and FaceTime. You will need to sign out of messages on all devices and then start the process all over again.
    Take a look at this.

  • Tried to sync to new device, now contacts are corrupted / missing

    Hi,
I was using a Zire 21 for a while until it recently got lost. I then got a Zire 31 and tried to sync the info from my palm desktop onto it, but after doing so the contacts are corrupted on both the desktop and the new palm. Corrupted, meaning not all contacts are there, the ones that are still there are missing information such as phone numbers, my categories are gone (everything appears as "unfiled"), etc.
I tried closing palm desktop, then copying address.bak to address.dat in my user folder, same problem. I searched all over for any *.aba files, address.dat files, or any other backups, but could not find any.
Here is what appears in my palm desktop log:

I found all these .pdb files in the backup folder specified, but couldn't find any information on A) whether they can even be used to restore this kind of information, B) how this is done if so.
Can these PDB files help, and if not, is there any other way I can get my contacts back to normal?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated... many thanks in advance.

Only if a backup of the iPhone with all that data on it exists.  If one does, restore the iPhone using that backup.

  • Updated now contacts are multiplied by 12

I updated to the new version of iTunes for my iPhone 4 and now all my contacts are multiplied by 12 and manually destiny them has already taken 30 min to delete 2 contacts. Is there a faster way to fix this?

Ensure you have the correct adress book selected. When in address book, select the top left hand tab which says 'Groups'  I think. Then select iCloud address book.
Under settings - mail, check that iCloud is selected as your default account under section "contacts". Does not need to stay that way, just till everything is loaded correctly.

  • Please help. Half my contacts are missing and think I've tried everything!

    Hi there
Sorry this is a long post but I'm a bit desperate and hope you can help:
I dont have a PC or ipad or anything but do have an iphone 5 and over the weekend my emails (to my live.com account) weren't sending off my phone.
So I deleted the live/hotmail account and reinstalled the account.  I noticed that upon re-installation there was no option for 'contacts', just 'notes' and 'calendar' but I didnt pay it much attention as I have an exchange account listed on my phone which features contacts, email, notes, calendar etc etc.
Yesterday out of the blue some of my contacts went missing (after sending a text to a person, a few hours later their name vanished). I deduced that all the contacts that had vanished were email addresses and newer numbers (over the past few years).
I still had the 334 numbers I've accumulated over the past 10 years.
So today - after looking at apple community help sites - I took the following steps:
    - Checked all contacts groups were ticked (they were)
    - Tried switching the contacts box on and off.
    - I deleted my newly installed Live Account as it seemed unnecessary as I could send/receive emails on my exchange account.
    - I then deleted my exchange account and re-installed it.
    - Hey presto, all the numbers and emails addresses which had vanished came back.
    - BUT DOOM... all my initial numbers have gone. This is really bad (relatives, work mates, boss etc etc all lost).
    - So then I tried to look at how to ask iCloud to sync contacts but couldn't really find an answer anywhere.
    - So I tried to log into my iCloud on a public computer to check what contacts I had and move them manually but after logging on (for first time ever) using my iCloud email address and also my live.com email address, no contacts we listed as being in the Cloud.
    - In terms of synching data all I could find was an instruction to turn the 'contacts' tab in icloud off (whilst keeping contacts on iphone) then switching it back on and asking it to merge.
But this didnt achieve anything new.
    - So I repeated the step above and then as instructed on one post selected iCloud backup. This hasn't helped either and I'm worried that I have updated my icloud to only include my Exchange contacts and not my old numbers.
So I'm panicking that i'll never get my important numbers back! Any advice?
My only glimmer of hope is that when I changed from iphone 4 to iphone 5 earlier this year, all of my data was switched using the icloud function (but possibly my live/hotmail account too), which suggests to me that icloud does have all the numbers.
I still have the iphone4 handset too - so could perhaps get the numbers off that? But I don't know how so any advice very welcome!!
    Please.

I'm not sure if this will help you or not and you may have tried it already. But, I was having problems with my 20gb ipod (same one you have) and tried everything, including taking it to a local repair shop and even considered just chucking it. Then I read in one of these posts to simply reboot my computer. So I did and guess what, it worked. I felt like such an idiot but sometimes the simplest fixes are the ones you overlook. I don't know if itunes 7 needed a reboot or if there was a problem because other users (my wife) were logged into their user accounts also, but try doing that.
I hope that does the trick for you. If not, sorry I couldn't have been any more help.

  • Syncing phone book/contacts from iphone 3GS to Iphone4

    Hey,
I just got the iphone 4 - put in the smaller sim card required and am now wondering how do I transfer my phone book from my previous 3GS to the new sim card/phone.
My old computer crashed, and am using my laptop on which I just installed Itunes.

I believe the best way is to use iTunes to sync the contacts from your 3GS into a 3rd party program such as Outlook. Then, use iTunes to sync the contacts from Outlook to your new iPhone 4.

  • Backed up phone now photos are missing

backed up my phone becuase it was having a problem that I had been told by Apple to restore as new phone for. Where does my backup save so I can get my pics/contacts/etc from so I don't lose them? Help

If you backed up the device then restored as new, then the only option is to restore from backup.
There is no option to selectively restore data from the backup.
If the iPhone was being used as designed, contacts would be synced with a supported application on the computer (NOT iTunes) or a cloud service.  Also, pictures should be copied off the iPhone and onto the computer on a regular basis.

  • Z22 won't sync calendar but contacts are there

I recently replaced a treo 90 with a z22. I installed the Palm Desktop software that came with the z22 (4.2.2) and performed a sync. I previously had information already loaded onto ical and address book. The information from the address book synced with the z22 but I have tried multiple times to sync the calendar and no such luck. I have seen some similar posts to this with other devices but nothing involving the z22. Any ideas?

Does anyone have any ideas about this? I saw a previous post about resetting the sync history and resetting the device. I did try that but it did not help. Contacts sync just fine but there is still no calendar info on the device.
    Very frustrating...I'd appreciate a response.

  • Help syncing calendars and contacts

I have Microsoft Outlook and the online tutorial says that in order to sync my calendar and contacts to my mini ipod, I need to enable disk use. When I go into Itunes to do this, the box that I should be able to check that says "Enable disk use" is grayed out. It won't let me check it. Can someone please help??
    Thank you.
    Mini Ipod   Windows XP

The usual reason for this is that the iPod is set to to transfer songs manually. If so, the option is 'greyed out' because it's already enabled for disk use, as it's the default setting for manual.

  • I dropped my phone, now there are lines with every row of graphics.

As I said, I have dropped my phone... And if you have the phone, you know that the icons are all in lines and such. Well, it's like someone smeared the icons... And it's not in those places only, it's with everything with graphics. If I go to watch something, the whole screen is 'smeared'. I'm not sure that Apple will cover this! Any home solutions? Thanks.
