Help Syncing PC to Mac Calendars

I have recently acquired an iPhone. It is posing a little bit of a problem with my calendar system. I am Mac based at home but have a Dell Laptop with Windows XP at work. I use the Oracle Corporate Time calendar at work and iCal at home. Up to this point I have used a PalmVx to keep the calendars sync'd. With the addition of an iPhone it has become cumbersome and I am wondering if there might be a better way. Currently I use the Palm device as a go-between and the Mac is pared to the iPhone. Well this is a four step process. Can you recommend a way to eliminate the palm device so all I will need is my iPhone to keep my two computers sync'd? Corporate Time does not export well. Anything more elegant than my four step process?

I did this it is not hard but make sure you read carefully. Plugging in the iPod in to your Mac make sure that you don't make the Mac your primary computer to the iPod. Click on your iPod on the desktop and drag all of the music into iTunes. This should work

Why can't I sync my I-Mac calendar to my new I-Pad?  No problem syncing to my I-Touch and I-Pod.

Do you have the settings in iTunes correct to sync the Calendar?
Perhaps you could try using iCloud to coordinate your calendars rather than syncing with iTunes.

  • How do I sync 'on my mac' calendar in ical with icloud or an alternative for my iphone?

I'm using Outlook 2011  with 2 IMAP email addresses, a business email and a gmail address.  The only reason I'm using Outlook instead of Mail, Address Book and iCal is because there were issues with me receiving meeting invites from business colleagues.  Anyway, now I'm using Outlook, my contacts & calendar are no longer synchronising with my iPhone (4).  I'm using the Outlook synch services to copy the Contact info to Address Book and the calendar info to iCal. BUT, the calendar in iCal is 'On My Mac' and doesnt get picked up by iCloud.
Can anyone help with simple suggestions for a wireless solution for keeping Outlook calendar in synch with my phone?  Would upgrading my email account to Exchange be a solution?

Thanks Winston.  I'm aware that the 'on my mac' calendar doesn't get picked up by iCloud.  I'm wondering whether anyone can help with the best alternative solution for synchronisation of phone and Outlook.

Have you tried resetting your device: Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the "Slide to Unlock" screen redisplays, see if your issue is resolved.

  • How to sync 'On My Mac' calendar with multiple devices

    Hi
This is an ongoing problem for me and I have decided to become more pro-active in seeking a solution. I would be grateful for any help whatsoever.
In summary, I need to understand how I can sync calendars that are 'On My Mac' with iCloud, so that then I can see them on any of my devices. I don't mean export - I am looking for a solution that creates a constant, updating feed.
I cannot use iCal as my primary calendar location. I need to send a lot of calendar invitations to people who use MS Outlook for their calendars and MS Outlook does not accept invitations from iCal. Therefore I have migrated to Outlook for Mac 2011 as my principle calendar client. (A temporary work around was that I continued using iCal for a short while but send invitations using Gmail. This works, except that for my clients it became confusing and they started thinking that my main email address was a Gmail address and that is a problem for me.) So I am using Outlook for Mac 2011 which enables me to exchange calendar appointments with other MS Outlook users with no problem. At this stage these appointments don't show up anywhere except in Outlook for Mac 2011 on my iMac at home and I am hardly ever there. So I need them to reveal themselves on my Macbook Air, iPhone 4S and iPad as I drive around meeting everyone. The problem is made worse by the fact that I work for several companies, all of which expect me to use their own email accounts to set up these meetings. Outlook for Mac 2011 is good for that. So the next step for me is to go to Preferences in Outlook for Mac 2011 and select Sync Services. This helps because it sets up an instantaneous feed from Outlook for Mac 2011 to iCal on the same machine. Great, but not perfect as they are all stuck in the 'On My Mac' section of iCal - which does not sync with iCloud.
That is where I get stuck.
    Can anyone help?
    With best wishes,
    Tom

    Hi Snozdop,
Thank you for your quick and helpful reply. Yes it does seem astonishing that Microsoft is not helping with a problem that must be affecting many of their customers.
Actually pretty much all the appointments are already in iCloud as I exported them to Outlook for Mac as part of this recent burst of activity. So populating iCloud again will not be a problem, if I need to.
It is helpful that you have referred to Exchange. If I am hearing you correctly then you are saying that any appointments that I set up using email accounts that use Exchange can easily be set up to show on all of my devices. This means that if I set them up using Outlook for Mac, then I will not need to use Sync Services in Outlook for Mac to inform iCloud of my schedule.
But if I am also hearing you correctly, I will still need to use Outlook for Mac to set up the appointments because other people's Outlook systems will still not recognise calendar invitations sent from iCal, even if the email address used to set them up uses Exchange. Is that correct?
If so, then I suppose I can work with it - although it still seems somewhat elaborate. I would be using Outlook on my iMac and Macbook Air and iCal/iCloud on my iPhone and iPad - all connected via separate accounts using Exchange.

  • Can't sync Outlook for Mac Calendar with iCloud

I've just updated my Macbook Pro to OS X and now I can't get my Outlook for Mac 2013 (14.3.9) Calendar to sync with my iPhone 5.  It seems iTunes no longer allows for syncing calendars and it all has to happen via iCloud.  Is this correct?  How do I get them to sync, then?  I've looked in other discussions (from a while ago) and none of those fixes are working.  Thanks in advance!

Thank you, randers4.  Not the solution I wanted but I am glad to get an answer.  I'd thought that since the support articles I'd seen came out before the latest update (you're right, I do have 2011) that maybe there was a work-around.  Of course all of this has been discovered after I entered my three kids' baseball/softball practice and game schedules into Outlook.  Any quick and dirty way to transfer it all over?
Thanks so much for taking the time to answer me.  Copious amounts of time has been wasted on this issue and I'l be glad to move forward.
    Warmly,
    Sara

  • IPhone calendar items not syncing with Mac calendar

A few weeks ago I noticed that items added to my iPhone calendar stopped syncing with my Mac calendar.  Items added or deleted from my Mac calendar, however, do sync properly to my iPhone.
iPhone 4S iOS 7.0.6.  Mac OS 10.8.5 (whatever beast that is).  I sync via iTunes and USB cable.  I do not use iCloud and am not interested in doing so.
I looked through other discussion threads, and  they did not seem to address my problem.  Thank you in advance for any help you can give.

The answer given by randers4 here solved my problem (turn out I have Mountain Lion):

  • Cannot synchronize "ON MY MAC" calendars in Ical with iCloud.

Cannot synchronize "ON MY MAC" calendars in Ical with iCloud. It works well from iCloud to Ical, and Ical to iCloud except for all the calendars in the "ON MY MAC" group.
    Please help.

That's correct: both in MobileMe and iCloud you cannot 'sync' 'On My Mac' calendars. This is because there is no actual syncing in the literal sense: the calendars are held on the server, and read from there by iCal (think of it as being like webmail and it makes sense).
The only way to 'sync' an 'On My Mac' calendar is to move it to iCloud. This page is written for MobileMe but the principle is the same: please follow the first set of numbered instructions.

If it is already in iCloud just go to Settings/iCloud and turn on Calendar. It will then remain in sync with your Mac calendar and any other devices that are connected to the same iCloud account.

  • Google cal sync issues between mac and iPhone?

Just noticed this morning that my iphone is not syncing with my mac calendar and google calendar, but only for past events with just one specific calendar? I seemed to have lost all the previous events up through today for that specific cal? New events seem to be created OK, but if I change the event to a different calendar on my iphone, it duplicates it on my mac and google calendar showing the event in bith the original cal and the one I swithched it to. I checked google sync and cal div and all the appropriate calendars are selected. I did also have icloud cal selected on my iphone which I unchecked. I just updated to 10.8.2 on my mac a few days ago and it got hung up during install...had to hard restart the mac. Dont know if that could have something to do with it? Anyone else having issues with this?

You should ask in the MobileMe forums as this forum (iSync) has nothing to do with syncing Macs to MobileMe.
