Help / System Info causes PSE 11 to Crash
When I select Help, then System Info, PSE 11 crashes with a "Elements 11 organizer has stopped working".
Any suggestions?
There is no import option in Full Screen. You need to be in Windowed mode to import.

Is it possible to change settings in "Help System info"?
Is it possible to change Photoshop settings by clicking on Help and then System info? Since there is the possibility to type and the OK-button, I just started wondering.
All Help > System Info does is to report your system specifications so you can copy and paste them in the forums for troubleshooting purposes.
You can choose what to highlight and copy, but it does not change anything in your system like editing a configuration file would. -
My system info of pse 7 tells me that the operating system is vista while I'm working with windows 7. It also shows a place for the catalogfile that don't exists on my computer.
Like Mylenium has mentioned this is not the Photoshop Elements Forum.

System info PSE 7 is wrong.
My system info of pse 7 tells me that the operating system is Vista while I'm working with windows 7. And it gives a place for the catalogfile that don't exists on my computer. Has it something to do with the version of PSE in combination with the version of windows?
The default path for the catalog is normally:
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs\My Catalog\
If you can’t see the folder for ProgramData you may need to reveal hidden files.
Follow these steps to display hidden files and folders.
Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Under Advanced settings, click Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK. -
Serial Number in System Info is Not Long Enough
I have deactivated CS5 from Computer A, noting the System Info before deactivating, which included a Serial Number.
When trying to re-install CS5 on Computer B, the Serial Number is not long enough.
This CS5 is a student edition.did you get the serial number from Help>System Info, where it says "Serial Number"? because, if so, that's not the serial number. In fact, it's not even close. my actual serial number started with 1 while the "serial number" in the System Info started with 9.
when you deactivated from the old computer, did you check the box to erase the serial number from the computer upon activation? If not (i.e., the serial number is supposedly still on the old computer), i've heard that if you start a reinstall of CS5 on the old computer, it will fill in the serial number at that screen. I don't know this for sure because the OS on my old computer literally crashed in an irreparable way immediately after I deactivated CS5.
If it isn't a student edition (you must not have the box - the box would clearly say so), then the only way to get the serial number is to know the email address that it may have originally been installed under. Even that may not work, when I spoke to Adobe support (after waiting 3 hours on my digital phone), I gave then every email address that I could imagine having used and did not find the record of my initial installation.
Again, good luck -
PSE 11 Crashes on Copy/Move or System Info
Whenever I select "Copy/Move to a removeable drive", or select "System Info", PSE 11 crashes with a "Elements 11 organizer has stopped working".
Using PSE 11 on Windows 7.It also crashes when Share/Online album/Create New album/Next .....for either Photshop Showcase or export to CD/DVD.
However, it does work for Export to Hard Disk. -
CS4 crash when accessing System Info dialog
Hi,
I'm experiencing a crash when I try to launch the System Info dialog from within Photoshop CS4 (11.0.2) 64-bit running on Windows 8.1 Pro x64.
Photoshop is attempting to read through a NULL pointer and is generating an access violation (0xC0000005) exception.
I've pasted info from running PS under windbg below to help your devs investigate. I can also provide a Windows crash dump file if that will help.
If I had to guess I'd think that this had something to do with a display driver, but the driver for the display hardware in my Toshiba laptop (Intel x3100) is provided by MS in the box with Windows 8.1 and there are no updates for this driver (either from MS or Intel).
If this is determined to be a bug, I'm willing to test the fix on my machine to verify.
Thanks for your help.

Help needed with identifying cause of Google Chrome crashes from a crash report
Hello,
I am trying to isolate a problem which is causing Google Chrome to crash. This is happening far too frequently - sometimes on opening, sometimes on web page loads and sometimes when viewing the preferences page.
I'm using a 2012 Mac Mini running OS X 10.8.4.
After many hours of trawling around the Internet and trying various suggestions, I am close to admitting defeat. Hopefully somebody here can save my sanity and point me towards a possible cause.
To date, these are some of the things that I have tried:
Replacing the 16GB of Crucial Ram with the stock Ram.
Logging in as a Guest user and opening Chrome.
Disabling all Chrome extensions (there are only 3 that I use anyway).
Uninstalling Chrome and all associated files that I could find, then reinstalling.
Booting into Safe Mode and loading Chrome.
None of these have made a difference. There have also been a couple of times when Firefox has crashed, too. Safari has been rock solid. Yes, I could just use Safari, but there are personal reasons why I need to use Chrome. I also need to locate this problem in case it is something that might effect other applications … or possibly even be a hardware problem.
Below is my most recent crash report. Frankly, it's contents are way outside of my comfort zone, so I am hoping that somebody will be able to help point me towards the relevant parts that might help me resolve this problem:

When Trying to View an .mov File, PSE 8.0 Crashes... Help
When Trying to View an .mov File, PSE 8.0 Crashes... Help I was able to view these .mov files without any problem on ACDSee 2.5, any help will be appreciated to determine why .mov files crashe in the PSE 8.0 viewer....
Best Regards,
LarryThanks for the reply Larry. This is frustrating, and Adobe support is useless. It all works on my vista 64 bit system, but not on the 32 bit system. The odd thing is that I can open .mov files in Editor by going to File-Import from video, select "all file types" and choose a quicktime movie and it will open and run just fine. I can take stills off the movie. But if I try to open the same movie file with File-Open...I get an error message "Cannot open file......wrong file type" In organizer everything just crashes. I suspect there are some security issues in Vista that won't allow PSE to access Quicktime.
Too bad Windows 7 didn't fix the problem. I was starting to head that way. I will let you know if I find a solution.

CS5 closes when opening system info in help
I'm running Windows 7 64 bit. I have CS5 b4 bit. When I open system info in help I get an error message that there is a problem with CS5 and it will now close. Any suggestions as to what is wrong and how to fix it?
Probably the usual issues with bad graphics drivers... Turn off OpenGL in teh prefs and update your driver, then try again. Could of course also be some plug-in or other driver e.g. for a scanner or printer....

We continue to experience occasional MacOS 10.5.6 data volume instabilities. Just today, the system reported that it could not repair a purely archival data volume at a time when I was not accessing the volume and had not asked the OS to 'repair' it.
Then when manually running a repair on that same data volume in Disk Utility, storage services caused a kernel panic crash.
This problem was more prevalent when I tried the server version of Mac OS 10.5.6, where the OS caused disk volume corruption on the dedicated TimeMachine backup drive, and then started to crash frequently in the face of that self-induced corruption.
There was no disk volume corruption and no crashes before 10.5.6.
I would like to know why there should never be a file system condition on data volumes that would induce the entire OS to crash. I would completely understand a forced dismount of the corrupted volumes perhaps, or continuing in a read-only mode until the impacted volume could be repaird, BUT NOT AN OS CRASH. Even attempting to use the repair function on the unmounted volume would cause a crash.
The reason I know this is a file system bug and not the hardware is that the same system can endlessly zero out the data on the same drives, copy large test files to & from the drives, etc. The only situation where these file system crashes happen is with high file counts as one would encounter on a backup drive or on a data archive drive. This evening OS 10.5.6 reported that Time Machine could not write to its target backup volume on one of the new 1.5TB drives...the nightmare cycle of
1. OS 10.5.6 causes volume corruption
2. OS 10.5.6 unable to repair volume corruption, crashing instead
3. OS 10.5.6 crashes over and over as it tries to auto-mount the volume
4. hard drive has to be physically ejected and wiped using a WINDOWS system so that it can be used again!
This is a sickening tale of disk corruption woe that started with the OS 10.5.6 update.
As fast as I opened an AppleCare support case on this issue, they were closing it behind my back without resolving the issue.
The kernel panics related to the volume mount problem are simply outragrous:
"jnl: mod block start: buffsize 512 not a multiple of block size 4096\n"
KERNEL PANICS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN DUE TO A VOLUME MOUNT ERROR---EVER.
And yet I see in the support database that this is a recurring theme that has been seen in other OS storage situations, including Xserve storage where the bug would cause much more business damage.
I want this fixed NOW. -
G5 outdated firmware cause app's to crash?
I recently reinstalled the 10.5.8 and all the updates because I was getting a lot of instability in the computer. Certain programs like Roxio Toast where crashing or getting error messages. Intially reinstalling the OS, the updates and certain software helped but the issues started up again especially with the Roxio toast. I haven't replaced the DVD drive yet....... To get to the point is there a remote possibility that the outdated firmware could contribute to the on going instability and crashes of my computer. The other things that come to mind that could POSSIBLY cause my problems are: bad memory, Hard drive issues, logicboard....I could go on but I won't. The following steps where taken to correct the crashes and other stability issues:
-Ran Disk warrior to rebuild the system directory and to correct permissions
-Rebuilt the systems cache, spotlight list, and file associations
-Deleted the Plist and .com files that are associated with software
-Ran an anti virus
-Reinstalled the OS
Does anyone have any Ideas?

(If you are running a PPC Mac with Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and are having problems with watching videos on FaceBook or other sites, contributor Texas Mac Man suggests the following solution which fools the site into thinking that you are running the latest version:)
Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

What is causing my Mac to crash during the sleep mode?
Hello!
I would to have your help on this situation that i am having for a month or so... Ok... it started about a month ago, I turned it on and all of the sudden, it shut down, then rebooted on its own... (actually it rebooted like 3 or 4 times before running the system) I thought that it was odd. I had my Tech to look over and see what was causing to crash and all... he could not find anything then we all decided to leave it running all time... so we did. a week or two later, it just crashed when i woke the sleep mode and it went on the usual route as crashed and rebooted two or three times before going back to normal.
sound familiar to you guys? after that happened, we turned off the sleep mode and so far, it is doing good... decided not to update the system's Security software because it may have something to cause the mac to crash down...
the mac is 2 x 3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 8 Gb 667 MHZ DDR2 FB-DIMM, running on 10.6.8
appreciate your help on this. One more thing.... it makes weird sounds as well... very high pitch sounds that you hear in movies where UFO flying by while it is doing the rebooting...

PSE 7.0 Crashes w/Adobe E-Mail Service
PSE 7.0 crashes with the following response when I try to send an image using Photomail or as an attachment.
It appears to work fine (or at least gets to the point where I can edit the message) when using Outlook or Outlook Express. However, we use Thunderbird, so would prefer to use the Adobe E-Mail service. We upgraded from PSE 4, which worked on the Adobe E-Mail Service with no issues.
"Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 (Organizer) has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
It gets to the point where the email shows up on the right-hand sidebar, then the mouse goes to an hourglass for a few seconds and then the above error message.
I'm running XP Pro SP3.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
MarcA couple of other thoughts:
1. Perhaps PSE 7 doesn't like the PSE 4 address book. That happens occasionally, though I recall it caused other symptoms, not a crash. You could find all copies of the file "contacts.xml" and delete them, and see if that helps. Different versions of PSE can hide these in dfferent folders, so configure Windows Explorer to show hidden files and then search your entire C drive.
2. You could try the sledgehammer approach of uninstalling PSE 7, manually removing all traces left behind by the uninstaller, and then re-installing in what Adobe calls "simplified mode", with anti-virus and all other background services disabled:

New OS system safari now running slow and crashing repeatedly
Can someone please tell me why my Macbook Air running Safari with just 3 windows open in Safari is now running incredibly slow, barely downloading either java or flash text and invariably causing it to crash with the spinning rainbow appearing almost every 2 minutes.
I am very inept when it comes to computers but cannot believe the new system would cause such problems.
Solutions all helpful.
