Help Tagging My Backups

How can I tag my backups so I clearly know what I'm looking at when I view a list of backup sets?
For example, right now I see:
RMAN> list backup of database summary;
using target database control file instead of recovery catalog
List of Backups

But I would like to start tagging my backups with more descriptive tags verses randomly system generated garble. Can someone explain to me how I would add that into my current backup command which is:
backup full as compressed backupset database plus archivelog delete input;Thank you very much and also in general is there a common tagging convention I should stick to that would be universally helpful to other DBA's who need to use my backups at a later date? Just looking for a common example of how a tag would be labeled in the above scenario.
Thanks!

  • The "text in a yellow box" that appears when I hover the mouse over a selection or help tag.

The "help tag" (Or in most cases the unwanted tag)  often is in the way of what I want to look at.
This is especially true when you are looking at an item that has it's own pop up giving you a description or information.
When you hold the mouse over say.... a movie icon in XFinity, the icon of the movie expands and gives a brief synopsis, date and actors of said movie.
Unfortunately, I cannot read the synopsis for the "Help Tag" blocks all the content forcing you to try different ways of pointing to the movie icon so you can read parts of the discretion from every angle of approach then piece it altogether in your mind.
I DO NOT want "help tag".  It is extremely annoying and time consuming ergo it des not "help" it hinders.
Can it not be disabled (Like balloon help in OS 9) so you do not have to feel anger and frustration every time you see that yellow tag?

Ooo, I did not notice the article was from 2007.  Thansk for pointing that out.  I don't think I am going to try it.  It seems that with all the "little" apps the seem to keep growing in numbers, someone will come up with a solid program that would wok through system prefs.  I would pay the normal $20.00 for an app like that.

  • Please help me install backup assistant plus

please help me install backup assistant plus

I would recommend you use Google android services for you device. I have used Google in almost all of my phones and with never a problem. Backup assistant plus is not as stable or as easy to use as Google. Just set up a Google account if you don't have one already (and I'm sure you do) .  Give it a try
    Do a Google backup
      1. Sign in to your Google's device, online account and go to settings.
      2. Personal, Backup and reset, and select both Backup my data and Automatic restore.
      3. Go to Settings, Personal, Accounts & Sync, and select your Google account.
      4. Select all of the option boxes listed, to ensure that all available data is synced.
      5. Though the specific procedure may slightly vary between Android devices, the process is generally the same.

  • How do I get rid of this help tag?

I tried turning off all help tags in the preferences, but this one keeps popping up in the velocity midi draw window of the piano roll. I don't mind most tags as I try to become familiar with all the new names and terms of LPX, but this one just covers up the cursor so I can't see what I'm doing.
    Thanks

That's not a help tag.. thats an info box... (No idea what the difference is but anyhow...) and I don't know of a way to turn info boxes off...
    Workarounds..
Move the bottom of Logic's window up from the bottom of the screen
Drag the Piano roll divider higher up the screen and drag the Midi draw divider up the screen too to increase the size of both those windows...
and these changes will help with that issue...as then there is room for the info boxes to draw without covering up the Midi draw markers....

I backed up to my PC and attempted restore but I keep getting an error message that "iTunes could not restore the iPhone because not enough free space is available." I have a 32GB iPhone; only 13GB used!!!  HELP!  iCloud backup/restore did not work either! How can I resolve this problem to restore from back up.

If you're not a developer then you really should not have upgraded.
I'm unsure how you can fix this as you have already done a back-up on iOS 7 and apple don't support firmware downgrades.

  • Missing Help Tag

I never see the yellow "help tag" since moving to LE 8. In the manual, for example at pg 346, "Dividing Regions" I can see that one can select the scissors and go hunting for the preferred split point and the yellow-boxed "Help Tag" pops up to guide. For me--nothing. Is there an place the user can toggle this off and on? Because for me, it's permanently off.

Up in the menu bar click on Logic Express>Preferences>Display>Show Help Tags.

  • Help tags (tips or hints) popup with no delay.

I am having problems with "help tags" The little windows that popup when you hold the mouse over certain items. They appear on several programs (Mail, Address Book, iCalc, Safari...) and are all having the same issue, so I assume this is a system wide problem. Instead of popping up after a second or two as Finder help says they should they now popup instantly. I am not sure when it started. It may have been after a software update I did yesterday.
Is their a way to slow them down? Maybe a Terminal command? I could even live with them turned off.

I have an interest in these help tags or tool tips - if you are a windows user ,but there are different types ,extended tool tips popup to see the full line for web addresses however not all buttons text and fields display these and some say that they repeat the obvious. just as I write this and spend a few minutes pointing my mouse cursor on different parts of the  page, fields, icons ,highlighted in blue buttons and text ,icons (even Baltwo's  iMac icon a pop up a box shows some info that can be seen by all who log in. The cursor changes to a hand or arrow, but what is the use of this behaviour ? and can we use it so that it becomes really useful.
The yellow tags are interesting because I am researching a way to use these for menus and all areas of the GUI ,Language preferences for uses who use a language that is not their native language and do not understand the text or object What if we could use another localisation file to change the text and when we do not understand a menu item the tag pops up with a hint, well as I am writing I have Google Chrome show this same page but Google translated the page into Finnish and when my pointer or Cursor hovers over some text it Shows the English word. it seems Google can only translate Web content not GUI.I
If there are anyone who share the same ideas please contact me.

  • Hi - I want to establish my Time capsule at the other end of the house, for security reasons.  If a fire occurs at my computer,  it is not much help if the backup is adjacent.

Hi - I want to establish my Time capsule at the other end of the house, for security reasons.  If a fire occurs at my computer,  it is not much help if the backup is adjacent.    From what I have read, the TC requires an ethernet connection to the outside world (which is where my computer is).  I don't understand this; I think my wireless network (airport) should be able to handle backups, since it is capable of broadcasting video, which has a much higher transfer bit-rate.  So, why can't I use Airport for my backups  to Time Capsule?
         -  Thanks,  Gareth

You can absolutely back up to your time capsule via wifi.  This is what the majority of people with a time capsule do.  It connects to a modem or WAN access point via ethernet though.

  • Help with help tags

Does Aperture have a way of offering Help tags when hovering the mouse over the icons in the Toolbars? I find when I have my second screen set to full screen the Icons at the top of the page are less than intuitive and rather than go to the manual to look them up it would be great to have the help tags tell me instead, but I can’t for the life of me find whether this is available or not.

    Here's what it says:
Making a call by using a voice tag
If the phone has an application using the GPRS connection sending or receiving data, first end the
application to make a call by using voice dialling.
    1. In standby mode, press and hold the volume down key. A short tone is heard and Speak now is
    displayed.
    2. Say the voice tag clearly. The phone plays the recognised voice tag and then dials the phone
number of the voice tag after 1.5 seconds.

  • Note length in help tags?

This may be the most idiotic question ever, but can someone explain to me how to read the length of a note event in a help tag?

  • Are captions and tags in backup when reloading after a computer crash?

I have Adobe photoshop 11. I have backed up my photos in an external hard drive and also on carbonite. If my computer crashes and I need to reload my photos back onto my computer will the captions and tags still be there? I was wondering because when I just look at my photos on the hard drive it does not look the captions are there. Is there a special way to save them so they are there?

If you use the backup command in the organizer file menu, all your media files will be saved, as well as the catalog which contains all the information about your media files : their location (path), exif camera data, your tags, captions etc. The restore command in the organizer will let you recover everything where you want to (same computer or not).
If you are using any other external backup solution, only your media files will be saved, not the catalog and its data, unless you also backup the catalog; it's a folder containing the database and associated files. You find its location in the Help, System Info menu.
You could also use the file menu of the organizer to 'save metadata to files', which would write the tags and captions in the header of the files themselves. If you reimport those files in the organizer, tags and captions will be recovered.

  • Need help creating a backup strategy

    Hello,
I have never backed up any data in my life (long time mac user, no problems) and have just recently bought the Lacie d2 250 firewire drive. The reason for this purchase was that I am sending my MBP in for repairs and began reseaching various backup software. Now I am completley paranoid and somewhat confused. Here are my questions to the pro's:
    1) I know that I would like to have a clone of my drive so that if my drive goes to heaven I can I can boot off the external backup and restore. Now, does this mean that I have to clone my drive nightly to be up to date?
    2) I have read that some programs will do incremental backups of only files that have been changed. My confusion here: Is the clone modified? Or are these programs seperate backup files that I would have to restore in addition to restoring from the bootable clone?
    3) I would like to have a bootable clone and backup changes in documents/ new files nightly. Nothing superfancy. From my understanding superduper can do this, data backup x can do this ($$$), and I suppose the list goes on. In your opinion what program would provide the most time effiecnt means/ sensable method to do this?
    4) if you do something similar to what i want to do, can you give an example of your stratagy?
Thank you all in advance. I will give helpfull points to all!

    Hi,
It sounds like you need SuperDuper!.
From what I know, it will do bootable clones, incrementals, and the other things you need. I only use it to backup my home folder to an image on my firewire HDD. I have limited backup space which is why I don't do a full clone. Also I think it requires you to reformat your external HDD if you want to make it a bootable clone. Check out their documentation for more info - it's pretty easy to use but going thru the documentation will give you all the options and help you to define how you want to backup.
You can download it free to try but you need to buy it to get access to all of the features, like scheduling and incremental backups. At US$27.95 I think it's a bargain tho..
    HTH!

    George,
I believe you are correct in saying that there is no way to link directly to a specific anchor tag within an html file from the context help.
I would encourage you to visit our Product Suggestion Center if this is a feature you would like to recommend that our R&D team consider for future versions of LabVIEW.
Is it possible for you to create a .chm file?  Or perhaps you could have some kind of "table of contents" at the top of your .html help file.  This would require an extra click by the user but may be an option for you.

  • [HELP] How to backup and erase from computer

    Hi,
my blackberry's keyboard don't work anymore. I have to return it to the shop.
But before, I have to backup, and moreover, erase personnal data from my blackberry.
But, even if I try that from my computer, I have to type my password on the phone, what I can't do because of the keyboard.
How could I at least delete the data ?
    Thank you

When you connect to your PC to use the BlackBerry Desktop Software to backup, you will be asked to type the password on the PC keyboard.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You might try a forced shutdown to begin with, hold down the top and home buttons together until the device shuts down, then restart it.
