Help - Text dissapears on Photoshop CS5.1 on Mavericks

Please help, since I purchased my @ Creative Suite CS5.5 and installed photoshop on Mavericks, my photoshop does not work.
When I type a text and leave some seconds, the text dissapears. If I want to edit it to change a font or color, it dissapears and something happen that when I do Cmd Z, it comes back but not able to edit it

Turn off the dictation feature in the MacOS Preferences -- it has problems that cause erasure of text in some situations (and has not had the bugs fixed yet).

• Text tool in Photoshop CS5? Help!

There's some confusion on your part. Apple's Font Book is just a standard, integral part of the OS, and it gets installed with every installation of the OS.
There's a different application called FontBook (no space) by Lemke software that would not interfere with anything.

• Photoshop won't open Raw images with my new Camera Canon 6D help! I use Photoshop CS5 extended version.

Hello,
I got a new camera and Photoshop and Lightroom won't open Raw images with my new Camera Canon 6D help! I use Photoshop CS5 extended version. and Lightroom 3

Good news and bad news:
The bad news is that you need CS6 or higher to open 6D RAWs. (The 6D didn't get support until Camera Raw 7.3; 7.0 premiered in CS6.) You can choose to upgrade (I'd recommend skipping CS6 and go straight for CC 2014 for $10/month) *OR*...
...the good news is that the DNG Converter can help you convert your RAWs into DNGs for use in CS5 and Lightroom 3.

• Help! Can't use Text tool in Photoshop CS5

When I launched Photoshop this morning and opened a file containing text and an image, I got the following error message:
"The type layers in this document were rasterized because something prevented the text engine from being initialized."
When I created a new, empty Photoshop document and selected the Text tool, I got this error message:
"Could not complete your request because of a program error."
The Photoshop text tool is useless at the moment. I tried relaunching Photoshop and restarting my computer to no avail.
Nothing has changed in my Photoshop installation except that I recently installed FontExplorer X Pro on this computer and activated the Photoshop CS5 plugin that comes with the program. I have now uninstalled the plugin, but the Photoshop text tool still doesn't work.
Suggestions greatly appreciated. I need access to a fully-functional Photoshop ASAP. Thanks!

Since you're having the same problem with a different font manager installed, it looks like the problem may lie with Photoshop rather than the font management software. I'm going to file a bug report with Adobe.
Meanwhile, you might want to uninstall Photoshop CS5 (Utilities/Adobe Installers/Adobe Creative Suite 5 Design Premium) and reinstall it from the original disc. You do not need to deactivate anything before doing this.

• Why can't I open Photoshop CS5 with OSX Mavericks?

I download OSX9 the other day and I have found that some programs do not open. Today it is Photoshop CS5. Is there a trick to get it open besides an upgrade to CS5, which apparently is not currently available!

Today I just upgrade to Mavericks and have the same problem. Even the same system (mavericks) pop up a window tell me to download the java run time upgrade ...I canceled by mistake ...and when I click the Photoshop icon ...the same window pop up
After I install the java upgrade ...they opened just fine, all the CS5 ...even the CS3 ...just in case, give it one more shot. maybe it will work.
Here apple link

• Does photoshop cs5 work with mavericks?

Hi all
I have 2 iMacs with photoshop cs5 installed on one. I have upgraded to mavericks on my non-photoshop machine - which was more of a bumpy ride than I had expected.
Now I wonder whether I should upgrade my photoshop iMac which is currently running os x 10.8.5. Have anyone tried running photoshop cs5 under mavericks - and if so how did it go?
Kind regards
Jack Jorgensen

Since when I installed Mavericks my Photoshop CS5 - without warning - becomes all of a sudden unable to display the pull-down menus: they appear but are are solid white. That is, I lose completely control of Photoshop, and of all teh changes I made to a picture in the meantime. I does maintain a connection with the keyboard, but all the windows that may result from a keyboard command are also white. Flying blind, looks like.
It never happened to me before, and it started happening after I installed Mavericks (and I checked online whether PS CS5 was ok with it before installing it, of course .... sure .... ).

• Problem with Text tool in Photoshop CS5

I just purchased PCS5 this morning and they told me that I should download the trial version till I get the actual CDs... I have Photoshop CS4 and never had any serious problems. After downloading and installing CS5 it seems everything is working ok... however there are 2 problems...
1. It does not interact with Bridge 4 (when I make changes in Bridge, CS5 does not see it)
2. Any time I try to click on 'TEXT' tool icon, the application crushes... and I cant do anything... I have to restart the application.
Dont care much about 1st problem, but can't do without the 2nd one....
Any ideas?
Thanks a million in advance

Hi
Have you tried following solutions?
- update Photoshop to 12.0.4
- remove bad & duplicated fonts and clear system font caches
- update or uninstall 3rd party font management application
- remove all 3rd party plugins including font management application plugin
- launch Photoshop 32bit mode
- upgrade your Mac OS
If above solutions don't help, please contact me ([email protected]).
Thanks,

• How do i make a justifiable text box in Photoshop CS5

Hi
I tried to justify text but find it hard, any quick and simple ways to do it?
Thanks

We need less people like Tai Lao on these forums and more thoughtful, well thought out and thorough answers like the one 24/7 Tech Support gave.
I fail to understand what you're motivation and goal is Tai Lao?
This is precisely a board for people that are trying to learn whether they're beginners or not, or have high IQs or low IQs?
I've been using Photoshop since 1996 and I recently got CS5 and I was searching for this exact topic, because I just wanted something comprehensive on the subject, so I don't understand why you or anyone else feels the need to get in the way of that?
I mean, seriously, is this all for your ego? You like feeling superior to people, people you don't even know for that matter? Take your issues somewhere else. The immaturity is so obnoxious, especially when people that use these boards have work to do.
We out here have work to do, and we need thorough answers. Sometimes, some of us, while we're in the middle or towards the end of the work day aren't even at our best or freshest and we need clear and comprehensive answers during those moments when we're not necessarily operating at our best.
Whatever the case is, the truth is when you post answers, you should assume that the people are beginners or have "low IQs" or whatever garbage Tai Lao wrote.
24/7 Tech Support, I hope you continue to go about with your method of presenting detailed thorough answers to the people's queries here on the Adobe boards, I'm sure I'll come across one of your USEFUL posts sometime soon in the near future, and hopefully less across the USELESS posts of those like Tai Lao.

• I need help accessing documents in Photoshop CS5 Win

Hello,
Photoshop is crashing when I do multiple calls to a function using the documents member of Photoshop.app.
One or more images has to be open in PS.
With one or more images open in PS this simple extension crashes PS when the button is pressed:
main.mxml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute" historyManagementEnabled="false">
<mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
[Bindable]
private var hostName:String = HostObject.mainExtension;
]]>
</mx:Script>
<mx:VBox height="100%" width="100%" verticalAlign="middle" horizontalAlign="center">
<mx:Button label="Run PS code" click="HelloWorldPhotoshop.run()" enabled="{hostName.indexOf('photoshop') > -1}"/>
</mx:VBox>
</mx:Application>
HelloWorldPhotoshop.aspackage
import com.adobe.csawlib.photoshop.Photoshop;
import com.adobe.photoshop.*;
public class HelloWorldPhotoshop
public static function run():void
doSomeStuff();
doSomeStuff();
public static function doSomeStuff():Boolean
var app:Application = Photoshop.app;
var docs:Documents = app.documents;
var doc:Document;
for each (doc in docs)
if (doc.fullName)
return true;
return false;
The "if (doc.fullName)" line is important. Without this line, there is no crash.
Thanks for any help.
Anders

I have now discovered that this problem only exists on Windows Server 2008 standard (x86). On OSX and Win 7 everything works fine.
WS2008 is not important for us, it just happened to be my desktop OS.

• I NEED HELP, PLEASEEE! *(Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 has stopped working..)*

this keeps popping up everytime I try to load or start a new image into Photoshop.
Any suggestions?

REALLY!?? Don't think that's the issue? I just bought a brand new ACER quad core desktop TODAY, and downloaded CS5 twice, and keep getting the exact same error message each time I try to start a new file, or open an image. Has to be something wrong with the download, as it could hardly be a problem with the video card on a brand new system.
REALLY. It's a bit naive to think a new computer could have no bugs. But you can check yourself:
First, determine what video card do you have in that system, and what display driver version you're running.
Now go to the web site of the maker of the video card, follow their links to driver downloads, and see whether the driver you're running is the latest version they offer for your hardware and OS.
Assuming it's not (and it's almost CERTAINLY not), ask yourself why they would release an updated display driver if not to fix bugs.
I know it must be frustrating to have new gear and see it fail, but take the advice of the people here. Display driver updates fix many bugs.

• Text Dissapears in Photoshop

I used to be able to add a text layer and type as a paragraph in a text box but recently that has changed and I am guessing I did it somehow.
I now type into a text box and the text will continue on out of the box and can no longer be seen. The cursor and text will dissapear. I can hit enter, and the cursor does not return to beneath the text to create a new line of text.
Currently I am having to add each line of text as a new layer, which is time consuming for the simplistic tasks I deal with.
i don't know what I did to create this issue and I am hoping someone can explain to me how to correct it.

As for Resetting, I would first Reset the Type Tool, and test.
If not, then IMMEDIATELY after you launch Ps (and I mean immediately), hold down the Shift+Ctrl+Alt key, until you get the "Reset Preferences" dialog screen (wait until you get that, with the keys depressed), and then choose OK.
That will Reset your Ps Preferences to installation default, so you might need to go into Edit>Preferences and set some things, like Scratch Discs, Cursors, etc..
Good luck,
Hunt
