Help! The imovie software has disappeared - can't be found anywhere...
As the title - I use imovie 09 a lot and thought it was running slow and glitchy - thought I needed more memory, but then yesterday when I started the mac up there is no imovie at all - just a question mark over the icon.
Projects etc are all still there but not the application. What has happened, and how can I get it back? HELP!

Look in the Applications folder. It may still be there, but due to a new version, for example, the icon in the dock may no longer work. If you find iMovie in the Applications folder, drag the icon to the dock and you will have it back.

Draft message saved has disappeared - can't be found!
This is driving me insane!!
I just wrote a LONG and really imporant message in Mail. Saved it with a title but no recipient. When I was done, I saved and closed the message.
Now the message can't be found!! It's not Mail app, search yields nothing, it's not in the /Library/Mail/... mailboxes. What happened? Is this a known issue??
I searched here but didn't find anyone with a problem similar to mine.
I desperately need to find that message. I'm praying it can be found.

P.S. I have store drafts on server checkedHello. I use my Apple Mail only in a limited fashion, but have always wanted to know more about the ins and outs of mail, so I just viewed a few tutorials and Googled a few queries. This is perplexing. It seems the most recent common problem for Mail users is actually the inverse of yours - people cannot delete their drafts! How weird. Your problem struck a chord in me since years ago I drafted a very long important letter in hotmail not realising it had timed out and in a blink my text was lost forever. Getting back to Apple Mail, though, it seems to very very timid about deleting drafts, so that's a good sign. Even junk mail and stuff you have to persistently click a few times to really trash anything (it bugs me that my mail deletes do not go properly to the OS trash can though). I don't know what I'd do if I were in your shoes, but there is an idea you may want to try - use free after market OSX search apps: EasyFind and FindAnyFile. On occasion they have helped me locate VERY well hidden material that I could not locate using Spotlight (I have since then discovered secret Spotlight tricks, but still I like these aftermarket tools). It will take some time and patience to make best use of these tools but it just may do the trick. Sorry to hear about your problem - it's nerve wracking (I know).

I keep repeating the same question on this forum. For the fourth time, how do I get back the format bar from my document? View does not give me the option to show, only to hide. I can't print or make changes.

We're here to try to help you; we get some satisfaction out of helping folks to get along with their Apple Pages software. If you just take this one step at a time, I'm sure we can sort it out.
Thanks for clearing up what your primary issue is. You had Fruhulda all confused with your complaint about printing. I sort of glossed over the printing issue because you seemed to be more focused on the formatting.
Please re-read my first post - the part about the Format Bar being contextual - and let's go from there.

Had to reinstall OS after XP crash, upgraded to windows 7. Question is are my old links in firefox anywhere to be found? need them for my studies.

The Calendar icon has disappeared from my dock and I can't find a way to restore it or to download the Calendar app. The iCal app is not in my applications folder. Help please.
Do you have Time Machine enabled. If so, go back through your previous months until it features in your Application folder. Then restore.

I have iMovie application open, but the iMovie application keeps disappearing off the right hand side of the screen and and I can not see it, even though the application is open..help, please!
Thanks. I don't know why it wouldn't just go back there when I tried putting it back? I didn't change anything, so I assumed the new "default" was over on the left. Glad it was a simple solution after all.

The location bar has disappeared from the top of any tab I open, so there is nowhere to type in a web address. Could I have accidentally made this happen? How do I get it back?
Just to be clear, it's not below the tab bar either? (That's the new style in Firefox 4 and 5.)
To hide or show toolbars, you can use the old View menu.
If you have the orange Firefox button, tap the Alt key to temporarily display the classic menu bar.
View menu > Toolbars > ''check'' Navigation Toolbar
If you are viewing the navigation toolbar but it's incomplete or corrupted, you can reset your toolbars.
View menu > Toolbars > Customize
In the large dialog with the icons, toward the bottom, click Restore Default Set.

The volume control has disappeared from the music app on my iPhone and i can't play any music how do i fix this?
Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray BEFORE doing the reset.

What i ended up doing was,t switch the power supply off to my modem , wait a minute, switch back on and reboot my macbook, lo and behold everthing is back to normal!!

The word app has disappeared from my desktop computer and can't be found on finder or search. All documents I created on word will now not open unless in "TextEdit" format which I don't use. Any ideas please? Thanks

The airplay icon has disappeared from my MAC desktop. It was there two weeks ago when I successfully used it to 'flick a movie i had purchased from iTunes over to my tv. Also, if I rent the movie through iTunes, why (because of the above issue) when I go to 'Purchased' it doesn't display as an option when actually using Apple TV, it doesn't display but when I go to rent it again a message comes up saying "you have already rented this movie, do you want to rent it again"? Frustrated!!
Ok Fellas, let me give you a clue: Games, particularly those that make heavy use of graphics and sound are notoriously power hungry. In fact, when I was in the Navy many years ago, the folks working on the NTDS (Navy Tactical Data System) computers used a version of Space Invaders to load test the AN/UYK-43 computers.
I have also noticed that all of my laptops (I have a brand new Toshiba dual core, an older Toshiba single core, plus 2 Dell dual core machines) have significantly shorter battery life when I play Company of Heroes than when I am just reading e-mail or surfing the 'Net. I have also noticed the same behavior when I play games on my 4th gen Touch and my iPhone 4.
The fact is, iOS 5 did make some major improvements as well as adding some nice functionality like iMessage, wireless synch, and such, but the down side is that depending on how you use the device battery life can be shorter that what you may have experienced with pervious versions of iOS. Its just the nature of the beast...

I take it this was during a call? Close the app and open it again.
Failing that, and when the call is over, do a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank. Be patient, the device will power ON again in the normal way. It is app and data safe!] -

I recently downloaded the 5.1.1 and all of a sudden the contact icon has disappeared. I can still access my contact list through the phone icon, but I want the contact icon back. How can I reinstall it?
You can't delete it. Look on all your screens and inside all your folders. If you still can't find it go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout. This will restore the home screen to its original configuration but may move other apps around to do so.

The Youtube app was removed by Apple in iOS6. You can use either the iPhone app from Youtube (free in the app store, but you've got to set it at 2x), or go to www.youtube.com in a Safari web browser. You can also add the web page to your Home Screen using the share feature. It will then operate just like an app.
