HELP! tiger will not install on my G5 1.8 - cd boots to a black screen ?
Anybody know anything about this - I had to wipe my HD - luckilly I had panther on my 2nd drive - so now I want to install tiger on the blank HD i just wiped .
Anyway - after I install the disk - it starts up then the screen just goes to sleep ?? & I cant do anything apart from restart ejecting the disk.
Any help on this would be great

Insert the Tiger DVD into the optical drive. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the "C" key. Release the key when the spinning gear appears beneath the dark gray Apple logo. After the installer loads proceed to the screen where you select a destination drive. Click once on the destination drive then click on the Options button. Select the Erase and Install option then click on the OK button. Complete the installation.

On attempting to install PE7 from a legal purchased CDROM.
After choosing language and clicking OK to start install, I get a dialog that give this insane statement...
Either Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0 is not installed on the system or has corrupted. So please install Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0 and then retry.
Your system has not been modified. To install this program at a later time, please run the installation again.
Click Finish to exit the wizard.
Adobe support has tried to help, clean up registry, uninstall all other adobe software, etc. Escalated problem, but I've not been called back.
BTW I get the same dialog on two other computers I have as well.

Yesterday I downloaded the 'tryout' version of PE7.
It installed without the goofy message.
My serial number from my own disk was rejected when entered.
The tryout version is missing lots of effects, it inserts a watermark over any video editing done in it. (more like a skidmark).
I uninstalled it and still await Adobe support.
I assume at this point there is a problem with the installer disk.
Even though the disk copied onto my hard drive without error messages.

HELP CS2 will not install on my new MacBook - it's killing me!

Okay I'm tearing my hair out here! This is carrying on from an earlier issue.
I connected my new MacBook to an iBook to transfer my stuff across, the thing is CS2 didn't transfer properly so on the advice of Adobe after trashing what I had transfered I tried to install it from scratch using the discs. Here's the thing it won't install. I put disk 1 in go through the licensing agreement, the serial number etc. get to the install bit, click install and nothing, nothing happens. Both Adobe and Apple seem at a loss to explain this.
Can anyone help I desparately need these programmes for work?

MacBook Mac OS X (10.4.9)so you copied over documents and applications?
apps should always be installed, never copied.
CS2 puts files all over your system, not just in your applications folder. - it will be very difficult to manually delete everything associated with CS2.
if it were me, i would backup any important documents (on dvd or an external drive) and reformat the drive, re-install the os than install CS2 from the installer disk. -
Tiger will not install from disc
Hi all. I'm very frustrated.
I recently tried to reinstall Mac OS 10.4.6 onto my Powerbook G4. I purchased this operating system from the Apple store as an upgrade, not sure how long ago. Originally, the computer ran 10.2, but I'd rather have it running Tiger. Anyway, the disc check fails, and the installation doesn't complete from the Tiger DVD. The frustrating thing is that it's only been used for one install before now, and I don't see any scratches on the disc. As of right now, I've been able to install the original operating system, OS 10.2, from the original system disc.
Anyone know if it's possible to get a replacement disc from Apple? Alternately, is there any way to save a DVD like this? Do you think anyone at a Genius Bar could help me with a 10.4 install despite the fact that my DVD is no good?Hi RRBarrow, and a warm welcome to the forums!

Call AppleCare and explain, they may not have any Tiger disks, but I have heard they made one for somebody.
Alternately, is there any way to save a DVD like this?
I've recovered some using Disk Utility to make a new image to burn... it tries harder to read it than the installer does, other times it would not.
Do you think anyone at a Genius Bar could help me with a 10.4 install despite the fact that my DVD is no good?

Please help cs4 will not install
I just got a new photoshop cs4 extended. pn#65015816 from ebay. I can't get it to load, a auto something will pop up fast and then go away and the disk stops turning.
I called suport and they want a id# I don't know what they are talking about and when they found out I got it on ebay they won't even talk to me.if it came in it's own self contained cs4 box there should be a serial number on the back side towards the bottom of the dvd case i believe this is what they were asking for.
at what point in the install does it stop loading?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
One thing is the memory, and another thing is the hard disk space. You are telling me that you have 200 GB of free space on the hard disk, but the App Store is telling you that you have to install 2 GB of memory or more on your Mac if you want to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
First of all, open > About this Mac > More Info, and copy "Model Identifier" here, so we can know what Mac you have got and how much memory you can install.
We recommend to buy the memory in OWC or Crucial (Crucial is cheaper and offers the same compatibility warranty as OWC) because you won't probably have any problem with the memory you buy there -

I am sorry to hear nothing has worked yet. I have looked up some additional information and possible solutions. Follow the steps in this document to perform a level-three uninstall, register the Windows Installer Service, and then reinstall the HP software. An uninstall and reinstall of the software deletes and overwrites any of the files that might cause the error and resets the Windows Installer. HP recommends that you download the latest software from the HP Web site to remove any files that might be causing this error.

Note: The title of this document is not specific to the issue you are experiencing or the operating system you have, but the 3 steps and instructions are what I suggest we do to resolve the issue you are experiencing.

Need to know your Mac model. If it's a PowerPC, the max OS is Leopard 10.5.x. If it's an Intel procesor, you can upgrade to Snow Leopard (for $29) & later to Lion.

You probably need to either uninstall and reinstall itunes or to download the apple application support by itself

QuickTime 7.3.1 will not install on Tiger. Anyone else experiencing this?
I updated my computer's software yesterday. The computer successfully updated iTunes, iPhoto, GarageBand, and the update to 10.4.11. The problem is when the computer went to install QuickTime 7.3.1, it had an error and did not install. Therefore, GarageBand will not work and other websites will not work either. I tried to install it several times, but it still states the same error. I have tried to trash all of the QuickTime files and reinstall an older version, but the computer keeps stating that the newest version is still there. When I search the computer, the newest version is not listed anywhere. In addition, I ran disk utilities and it "fixes" links to QuickTime, but Quicktime will not work. Again, it will not install correctly. Is anyone experiencing this? If you are, I would greatly appreciate any advise. Thank you.

Did you restart after repairing permissions? Have you tried reinstalling from QT website instead of from the Software Update control panel?
You may need to repair disk/permissions directly from your System Install Tiger DVD. -
I've been using Adobe Acrobat 7 for many years. I updated my full version of Acrobat 5 to get to 7. My hard drive crashed and I've been trying to reinstall Acrobat and it will not install. Adobe will not help because 7 is no longer supported. Does anyone know where I can go for help?
You won't be able to install your original Acrobat 7 at all, or use your original serial number. The server which used to allow this was switched off.
But assuming you have a compatible system, like Mac OS 5 or Windows XP, licensed users of Acrobat 7 can download a replacement and get a replacement serial number.

Yes, same problem too; I've already sent an email to apple support and just received a very vague and unpractical response with "call apple support in your country" as main advice. I've obviously emailed back stating that I need a clearer response and I don not have any intention to spend money calling for support when updates is a free tool. I do also believe this is a probem generated on Apple's end, I just wish they learned to say "sorry, it's us; working on it!"
