• Convert mp3 into ringtone??

Sorry if this isnt the best place to post this, but I couldnt think of anywhere else.
Does anyone know if you can cut an mp3 and make it into a ringtone for a cell phone?? Or where I can find more information??

You have to refer to your phone's manual: What kind of files types will your phone accept as ringtone?
Might worth to look at the webpage(s) of your cell phone brand.
For phones like Ericsson, Nokia .... the are converters available.

• Help with importing mp3s into iTunes

Hi, I'm running the newest version of iTunes and having problems loading mp3s into the library in correct order. I'm not sure how the mp3s i want to import are tagged, but when i import them, iTunes arranges them automatically by song name (alphabetically) and loses the track order.
1) how do i import them keeping the same track order (in future)?
2) how can i re-order the existing ones i've imported into the library already as efficiently as possible (without going into the 'get info' option and adding track numbers for each of the separate tracks (i have several thousand like this - they are mainly live concerts)?
Many thanks for any help, its much appreciated!

You don’t say quite enough to be sure if I am being helpful or how much you know, but …
Start in the library window with browse on and select an album. (Click on the little eye, upper right of screen if you don’t see the browser).
You can then use “Get info” to inspect some of your imported tracks for that album. If you click on the info tab, you should see a field for track number. If you have a correct track number in this field, you should be able to sort by track number.
If you don’t see a Track # column to sort on, you and bring it into view by right clicking on the header row (Name, Artist, Album etc) and then checking Track number.
You can sort on any column by clicking the header.
I ripped all my CDs with Free Realplayer and imported the tracks into iTunes when I got an iPod – all the track numbers were already correct.

• Anyone can teach me how to convert my MP3 song into Ringtone on my iPhone 5

Anyone could teach me how to convert my MP3 music in my iPhone 5 into Ringtone?

You can't do this directly within the device. Your media needs to be in an iTunes library on your computer. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device if necessary.
Select your song.
On the Get Info > Options tab set start and stop times less than 40 seconds apart.
Under Edit > Preferences > General tab > Import Settings choose AAC Encoder > High Quality 128k.
Right-click on the song and select Create AAC version.
Reset the start and stop times on the original track.
Right-click on the new copy and click Show in Windows Explorer.
Change the file extension from .m4a to .m4r. (You may need to adjust folder options to see the extensions)
Move the file into the Automatically Add to iTunes folder.
Delete the broken entry to the file that you renamed and moved.

• HT4528 i am new to iphone. i downloaded a song but don't know how to make it my ringtone for incoming calls. can someone help?

I just got an iphone4. I downloaded a song but i don't know how to make it my ringtone for incoming call. Can someone help?

YOu can't use the whole song for a ringtone, you would have to create one 30 second or less.
YOu can download an app to create the ringtone.

• Please help explain the error "Can't make «script» into type Unicode text"

i am writing an applescript for my eyetv installation that handles recorded shows. i have posted in their forums, without reply, so thought maybe i could get some understanding of the technicalities of the fault to try to fix myself!!
i have a sub-routine:
to deleteeyetvrecording(theRecordingID)
set theScriptLibrary to load script file "Macintosh HD:Library:Scripts:ScriptLibraryv1.scpt"
tell application "EyeTV"
theScriptLibrary's log_event("RecordingDone", "Deleting EyeTV recording: " & (get title of theRecordingID), 2)
try
delete theRecordingID
on error theErrorMessage number theErrorNumber from theErrorObject
theScriptLibrary's log_event("RecordingDone", "deleteeyetvrecording: " & theErrorNumber & ": " & theErrorMessage & ". Object: " & theErrorObject, 2)
end try
end tell
end deleteeyetvrecording
even though the line above the error works fine and retrieves the Title property of the eyetv recording, the delete command on the next line outputs to the log file:
Sunday, October 26, 2008 09:50:51 [ 1 ] Error deleting file (4/4): -1700: Can’t make «script» into type Unicode text.
what does this error mean? what syntax changes are needed?
note this sub-routine worked in v1 of my script - i only copy and pasted it to the v2 script! go figure!
regards
jingo_man

Hello
Without knowing what theRecordingID is, how deleteeyetvrecording() is called and what the actual code of log_event() is, I can only guess.
The said error log is most likely not written by the code in the try block you provided, which should throw error by itself when theErrorObject cannot be coerced to string. I'd guess you have an enclosing try block where you call deleteeyetvrecording() and the said error log comes from there.
As far as I can tell, you should not assume that you can always coerce theErroObject (that is obtained from 'from' parameter of 'on error' statement) to text.
Too little information to go any further.

• Help - iTunes Converting mp3s automatically into VBR - Low Bitrate?

Hi Forum Members: New kid on the block. I've been very lucky not to have too many problems with iTunes.
I just placed several mp3s into iTunes via the folders/file selection. For some unknown reason it converted all those mp3s into VBR mp3s with a lower bitrate.
There is nothing unusual about these mp3s. Their bitrate is mixed at around 196 kbps to 256 kpbs.
I didn't use Import or ask iTunes to convert?
Any clues as to what is going on? Or how to fix the problem.
Thanks, katydidit

Hello CasperGemini:
In answer to your first question, no it didn't ask me?
My Preferences > Advanced Tab > mp3 encoder, good quality, 128 kbps
With iTunes changing the format to 114 kbps(VBR) at 44.100 KHz is quite close to the 128 kbps, however, it's rather odd that it would do it without asking (as you mentioned).
My idea was to keep the files at their existing kbps per second and then convert within iTunes using the "right-click" option.
I've also had problems with iTunes converting on import. If I take files/folder from my computer (not CD - already on system) and bring them into iTunes via the Import method (I've specified the importing size, etc.) it doesn't convert them to the specified encoding, e.g. m4a to mp3?? I end having to convert within iTunes (right-click).

• How do I move a song from Music to Tones to make it my ringtone?

In my Itunes Library, how do I move a song from Music to Tones so I can make it my ringtone on my iphone

Right mouse click the song in music library you want to create ringtone and choose “Get Info”
Choose “Option” Tab, Check “Start Time” & Stop Time” of the track you want to make into ringtone and put in your start time and end time (Max 40 secs duration), then click OK
Right mouse click the mp3 again and choose “Create AAC Version”
You will see a copy of song with same name appeared but with 40sec duration only. Now drag the song onto your desktop and you will see the name is now xxxxxx.m4a.
Change the file extension m4a into m4r from the desktop
Delete the 40sec m4a file from the music library (You must do this step or Itune will not accept your new m4r file).
*Important - Now uncheck the start & stop time of the original song so that you can play back full length.
Now, drag the m4r file from desktop to Library
Click onto the Tones under Library, and you find you ringone file.
Note: Just in case you cannot "Create AAC version" from Step 3, go to top menu, click "Edit", "Preference". Under "general" Tab, click "Import Settings", make sure under Import Using that "AAC Encoder" is selected.

• Can't import some MP3s into Centrale

$Can't import some MP3s into Centrale?I've been using Centrale with my X-Fi for a couple of years and have managed to tag and import 000s of mp3s wothout problem. I recently downloaded 2 series of podcasts from Absoluteradio and despite all attempts, can't import them.
I've double checked the tags - no problem. I can drag the podcasts into Centrale and transfer them directly onto the X-Fi and they play fine.
Whenever I try importing them to the library, all that happens is that the message 'transferring to library' flashes up at the bottom of the Centrale window and the counter at the bottom right very quickly counts up from of 30, 2 of 30 etc.. But the?author, album or tracks never actually get imported.
Any idea what could be different about these podcasts? I've checked properties to make sure they're not protected.
If anyone would like to help me diagnose this, the podcasts are at www.absoluteradio.co.uk - examples are the Baddiel & Skinner and Dave Gorman series.
Thanks
David

Try to play a few of them in another player to verify that they are good MP3s. If so, treat them with a tag cleanup program such as MP3 Validator, and then iTunes will usually accept them.

• I can't convert itune into ringtone

I have converted the itune into AAC format, but when I go to choose a start and stop time, it doesn't save it. I have multiple versions of the same full-length song, but no abbreviated version to use as a ringtone. Help...I need my Beatles...

At times on my system the bells disappear. Not the bell column, but the bells that show up in the column indicating that they are ring-tone capable. All I've had to do (even though the bell is not showing up) is right click on one of the songs that I KNOW is ok'd for ring-tones, scroll down to "Create Ringtone" and then iTunes brings up the ringtone creator at the bottom of iTunes. So give that right click a try and see if it helps.
By the way, you do know don't you that you must purchase the song first, then pay an additional $.99 to make it a ringtone right?

• Put an audio file (such as "1.mp3") into stream?

Now I am on a subject which is to make a p-p radio using jmf.
Here is my design: I want to put the input audio file into streams and to transmit them manually (not through the medialocator).
Is it possible? Pl help me on how to put an audio file (such as "1.mp3") into stream.
Thank you very much.

Check with CD Baby - they have an agreement with Apple to get indie music on iTunes for sale.

• Converting mp3 to ringtone

I followed all of the guides on how to make an mp3 into a ringtone.
I shortened it to 30 seconds after creating the AAC. I drag it to my desktop and make it into m4r and it becomes a "ring" file on my desktop.
It seems to become one but when I drag it to my "tones" section on my iPhone 4s, it shows up in the library but isn't dark black font and is the light grey (assuming that means it's not on there) and has the sync 2 arrows following each other next to it (but are not moving).
I don't know what I am doing wrong, but here is a legit pic of my iTunes if I'm allowed to post the tinypic URL. Don't worry, its nothing fishy.

I've done that and deleted all versions of the song except for the .m4r and it still give me the grey colored one when I go to drag it into iTunes.

• Using MP3s for ringtones on nokia 5200

I just got the 5200 and i've transferred lots of mp3s to my memory card but the phone will not allow me to use the mp3s for ringtones. When I select options the Use tone option is gray and when I select it I get either a message saying the file size is too large, or when I transferred smaller files I get the error "not allowed by activation key"
any helpful advice?
thanks in advance

OK ... here's what I found ... .MP3's on Nokia 5200 won't work as ringtones. Also, .AAC's won't work either unless they have some special code associated with them (supposedly to help protect copyrighted material ... I think it's a scam to make you buy ringtones). However, it will recognize and use .WAV files. I used Nero to convert a 30 second section of an .MP3 to a .WAV file with the following attributes (formatCM,samplerate:22kHz,channels:1(mono),sampling:8bit,bitrate:176kbps). Regardless, any previous setting I used can be altered. These settings gave me a good quality sound and kept a 30 second .WAV file under 600kB (any bigger and Nokia may complain of the file being too big). Pain in the **bleep**.
Where are you Robbie?

• How do I make a purchased ringtone work on my iphone?

I purchased a ringtone this morning on my iPhone and now can't figure out how to actually MAKE it my ringtone~ REALLY? it can NOT be this difficult!

You should be able to set it as your ringtone via Settings > Sounds > Ringtone - if you just want to set it as the ringtone for a particular contact then go into the Contacts app and select the person, tap Edit top right of the contact's details, and you should then get a ringtone option appear for them.
