HELP! Today's upgrade wiped out patient data! PLEASE HELP!

Please help... installed whatever was "new" today... just went to iCal to check my patients for tomorrow and... it's all gone!
The "new" iCal is arranged differently too... on my "calendars" I now have at least 2 if not 3 of every calendar I've ever created (yet none of them have the lost data). Have tried going back to IMPORT and/or RESTORE data and... it either hangs up or there's nothing to select (it's grayed out and the CHOOSE button never illuminates).
As a practicing psychologist I've now lost ALL my patient information, past and present! PLEASE HELP!
Thanks.
Dr. Peterson

Hope this helps. (and always have a backup file ready for a pull of any archived library files if any data is lost on an upgrade)

The last iPod upgrade wiped out all my apps. Will the IOS6.0.1 do the same?

If you update via iTunes and synced media like apps and music are not in your iTunes library they will be lost.
You can always redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • IOS 5 upgrade wiped out my Pocketbook data. Can it be recovered?

What happened to my data? Do I have to start from scratch? It also wiped out my levels on Angry Birds and other games, and cleared my books.

If theyare not already on your computer's iTunes, then if you download them onto it you could then try restoring to your backup and see if that restores them and their settings/content - a backup doesn't contain the actual apps, just their content/settings, so for the restore to work fully iTunes needs access to the apps so that it can restore them.

  • Itunes wiped out all data now ipod is corrupt

I bought my 80g ipod classic in March,08 and have never had problems until two months ago. Several times after disconnecting, I found that itunes wiped out all the songs and video. The first time, I lost over 8000 songs and never realized it until I was in the car on a long road trip. My playlists were gone, 14 movies and many video clips. My pictures and games remained however. Problems continued periodically. Sometimes it would eject immediately after connecting. Then it would connect, but not sync anything. Now itunes will recognize it, but says it needs to be formatted then restored. I didn't want to lose everything, but now it has wiped out games and pics also. It is like I just bought it. I have updated itunes to 8.0 and tried to update my ipod as well. Now it is telling me that it can't be restored and that my ipod is corrupt. This is my second ipod, the first was a 20g with pics and I used and abused it to death and NEVER had a single problem until it just quit working. I have my computer set to update automatically for itunes and this all started right after it completed an update of some kind. I have a 2 year warranty, should I relace it? Also, will I lose all the games I bought?

I just upgraded my itunes and now my IPOD won't play any of my songs. Everything is still ther, will let me navigate etc, but just won't play!
    Very dissapointed!
Worst, i can't get my music off my IPOD now, because ITUNES doesn't allow it. And worst still, when i take it in to get a replacement, they simpy take my IPOD and away and give me a new one.
    I'm seriously put off!

  • Shuffle iPod-songs wiped out...PLEASE ADVISE/HELP

    Hi,
I have an iPod Shuffle which contained numerous songs. I was going to update it and apparently hit something that wiped out all of my songs. Is there any way to get them to come back up and replace them in my iPod or am I just out of luck and have to buy new songs? The songs are listed in my purchase history.
Thanks in advance for your help and speedy response as I am lost w/out it when I jog!

I was going to update it and apparently hit something that wiped out all of my songs.
If the songs are no longer on your iPod or your computer, your options are limited.
Apple's policy is clear: iTS purchases can be downloaded only once. It is your responsibility to make back-ups . (For most people, this will involve either CD's/DVD's or an external drive .)
That being said, at their discretion they have made one-time exceptions to this policy. You can ask for an exception by submitting the form on this page:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/browser/
Good Luck! But whatever the response from Apple, remember:
Your music is valuable - please back it up!

  • IPhone upgrade wiped out all purchased apps...help!!

hi, I just downloaded and installed the new IOS to my iPhone. The download has wiped all of my purchased apps. I've managed to get one or two of them back, but the most expensive one, which I purchased outside of the UK, is nowhere to be found. It's not on my purchased apps section in iTunes, and when I signed in it said something about the account only being valid for the UK. Doesn't that seem a little draconian to be an excuse to delete the apps I purchased in Australia?
Anyone got any advice on how to get it back?
    Cheers

did you find a solution to this? same thing happened to me last night. a couple of apps are there. everything else is gone (free and paid)...sickening. I'm not a techie at all...when first plugged in my phone the screens showed all apps but only like a shadow... but only those two apps were "there"...so when it did the "backup" it just grabbed those two. now thats all I have. Does the app store have a history of purchases/downloads? Having trouble with all  apple "helps" ...I mistakenly always thought "sinc" meant that it was backing up my phone data to my computer. NOW I have ICloud , but NOW I have pretty much nothing left on the phone to be backed up. Oh yeah, it's still a phone.

  • Hi.  Can anyone help me work out how to sync an iPhone5 on an iMac and Macbook Pro without wiping out the data on the iPhone?

    Hi,
I want to learn how to sync one iPhone across two other devices (an iMac where the master backup & iTunes library exists) and my work Macbook Pro (where all my mail and business mail and calendar info is stored).  Is this possible?

The short answer is, you don't. You can only sync with one iTunes library at a time.
The longer answer is, it's possible to set up what you want, but it's dangerous.
The smart answer is, sync it with your iMac, and sync the calendar and contacts with iCloud, your Exchange server, or another cloud service. Mail is not synced with a computer at all. Only with a mail server.

  • 3.12 Upgrade Wiped Out All Media Content, Left Apps

After being denied too many apps in the App Store b/c they required the new OS, I finally upgraded to 3.12 late last night. It took a while but the upgrade went smoothly. Before disconnecting the Touch from iTunes I verified that all the content (music, videos, etc.) were still there and that the space available was around 1GB.
Turned on the Touch this morning and ALL my music and videos are gone. Apps all still work fine, as does WiFi. Checked in Settings on the Touch and it says I have only 1GB space remaining. So it's as if the music/videos are still there but they are nowhere to be found. I'm on a trip for the holiday and can't resync with my computer; tried hard restart and nada.

I upgraded over the weekend and had the exact same thing happen to me.  I lost months worth of data from my Goodnotes app.  Very upset and I can't believe that it isn't stored somewhere.  I followed all the prompts.  Yes I should have been backing up but I had a similar issue with my iphone where I tried to upgrade and lost all my data so I was hesitant upgrading my ipad.  I though no way it could happen twice. Boy was I wrong.  Please let me know if you find any help on this issue.

  • Recent update appears to have wiped out my data

I recently (last Thursday) updated my BB at the request of the device manager. I was preparing to back-up and was prompted to make updates. I did and now my contacts, calendar and pictures appear to be gone. However, when someone calls me their name shows up, so I'm wondering is my data someplace where it can be retrieved or restored. I would appreciate any help or guidance. Thanks, Bo

You know that is the strangest part. Many people that I talk to say the same thing. It is intermittent and started out of nowhere. I realize that a moving target is the most difficult to analyze and deal with but I know that many Apple users are starting to feel left out in the cold. I am not an expert and would not pretend to be. I am a musician that was convinced that Mac was the way to go because of it's rock solid performance and ease of use or so I had been led to believe. I am very frustrated and just want to get on with the creation. This is not what I had thought it would be... I had added new RAM and the timing was terrible because a bunch of updates went through at the same time including a plug-in Manager update. Once I recognized that there was issues with the sound, (when I was demoing for a potential client) I switched the RAM back to my original which never had an issue but the problem persisted. Is it possible that I may have to zap something to reset the CPU or something? My computer tests show that both the Kingston RAM 2x2ghz and the Samsung RAM 2x1ghz (original) work fine so I do not think that that these are the issue. I am going to take it to an Apple store which is a couple of hours away but this is an inconvenience that I was hoping to avoid not to mention any associated costs that I may incur. I may have to sell the Macbook Pro to afford the gas to get there.
    This really *****...

  • Download update just wiped out my data!

I just downloaded an update to my Palm Zire, and now all of my data has been erased on my computer.  The data, thankfully, is still on my handheld, and even when I try to sync the two the data doesn't transfer to my computer.  Help!  This is my business diary and I'm desperate.  Thanks.

    View Solution.

I have synced my handheld to my computer for the last 8 years.  It's just that since I downloaded the updated program now the sync won't transfer my information to my computer.
P.S.  I just discovered that after the sync it says on the upper right of my hand held that Chrissy Harrison is the user.  That's one of the two names that show up in my computer version of Palm as a user.  The other one is just Palm.  When I click on log records for syncs, it shows that Chrissy Harrison has received 3 updates today -- the ones I've tried and failed to convey the data in my hand held.  It appears I might have to change the name on either my hand held or my computer, but I don't know how.
P.P.S.  I've never heard of that att.net email address; it just shows up on my hand held.  So I'm not too worried.

  • IO6 upgrade wiped out my Ipad

I upgraded my Ipad 2 to the iO6 operating system. It has totally wiped by Ipad. All I get is the Itunes logo and a picture of the cable. I am an educator and use this daily. HELP!

You need to restore your iPad now. Connect the device to your computer and launch iTunes. Select the iPad under the devices heading and then click on the Summary tab on the right side of the iTunes Window. Click on Restore and follow the prompts. If you backup the iPad (if you are an educator, you should be backing up), you can restore from a backup at the end of the restore process.
If iTunes is not recognizing your iPad, you will need recovery mode.

  • IPOD Videos - Adding videos without wiping out all data

I am sure a few of you have run into this problem. Your computer hard drive is too small to hold all the music and videos to fill up your IPOD. I have run out of space. How can I continue to load videos from this point on without deleting any of the current data on my IPOD. Any assistance would be appreciated. thanks

You can delete songs/videos from your iTunes/computer hard drive after transferring them to the iPod, and for this you need to set your iPod to manage the songs manually.
However, this is an extremely risky option because when (and not if) there comes a time to restore your iPod, which is a very common fix for iPod problems, then all the music/videos would be erased. If you no longer have the music/videos in iTunes (or any other back up), then all that music would be lost.
What if the iPod were lost/stolen/needed repair? Again, the music would lost. I strongly recommend a back up, and if computer hard drive space is in short supply, you should seriously consider an external hard drive. They are not expensive, and the cost is well worth it when compared to the loss of all your precious music.
At the very least back up your music to either cd or dvd before deleting it, particularly any purchased music/videos, as this would have to be bought again if it were lost.

  • SW upgrade wiped out my iTunes library and also now iTunes will not launch

I just completed the recommended Sw upgrade for iTunes and now iTunes will not launch and my iTunes library is TOTALLY EMPTY.
Clearly, I am NOT A HAPPY CAMPER. I have lost a substantial investment of $$ and time in losing my iTunes library - so Apple should be paying me for my loss.
I need help, can you, will you help me?  I want my iTunes library back and I'd like to reinstall the previous version of iTunes, because it worked fine.
    Barbara Bowen
    Apple, 1983-1993

You don't say which versions so we don't know to which version you wish to revert.  Reverting won't get back your library anyway, if it is truly gone.
Have you checked if your library is truly gone?  Have you looked in the iTunes folder and the media folder inside of it?  The library has two main components, all the media files for the individual tracks and the iTunes Library.itl file which give them the structure you see in iTunes.  Sometimes iTunes just loses track of the library file which can be re-linked, and what's really important anyway are the media files.
If the library is truly gone you can restore it from the backups you make of your computer.  Backups are a responsibility of any computer owner ever since computers were invented.  If you don't have backups then it may be possible to redownload items purchased from the iTunes Store.
I know I have glossed over some of this but it's not worth going into details on how to do all the different things until we know precisely what it is that needs doing.

  • Restore wiped out previous data

I have just restored data from a previous backup on my iphone.
So what? Restore deleted my previous messages and images on the phone.
Without a warning, an alert, a question.
Congrats Apple for building the best phones in the world
    I hate you

Very strange. Every time I have restored from a backup I have received a warning that all content on my phone would be replaced. I guess you didn't bother to read it.
You could, of course, restore again and use the most recent backup.
