Help Transferring CS3 Prod Premium to a new computer

I am waiting on a new PC to arrive next week, then I will transfer CS3 from this 4-year-old machine. It sounds like a simple task, but I've seen a few issues raised in this forum. Problems with activations in particular.
I am going from XP 32-bit service pack 3 to Vista 64 bit Ultimate.
What steps can I take in preparation that will keep me out of trouble? As for performance, I have a Core 2 Quad 2.66 MHz, 8 Gigs RAM, and two SATA drives in RAID 0 config. I am considering installing a third SATA drive (or another two-drive setup in RAID) to use as the system drive and using the RAID for video storage.
I also have external drives of various types, i.e., eSATA, Firewire 400/800, and USB2.

Believe me, when somebody says something like, "it's a snap," "it's a simple task" or "it shouldn't be a problem," that's when I start to worry.
My new pc arrived and it's sweet, but I have not installed CS3 yet. CS3 won't fully uninstall from the other machine. Probably because I didn't deactivate first. The bulk of programs are gone, but Encore and a few others are still there. Encore will not open, even before I uninstalled anything. I get a small box with a yellow triangle.
Bridge opens, but there is no place to deactivate from there.
The Windows control panel uninstaller does not work on the CS3 suite.
I put the Install disk back in to re-install everything so I could then do it right, but my compuiter is not responding to the disk beyond the initial page.
I am stuck for now, and I am on my way out the door so I'll work this some more later. I hope to find some advice on here or lead me in the right direction.
Thanks all
Alex

  • Help transferring cs3 from a laptop to new computer

I've got photoshop cs3 installed on my computer that i use for my small business (it was running vista) but it recently died so I've had a new one built running windows 7. My question is though, how do I get photoshop cs3 transferred from my laptop (which i also have it installed on) to the new computer?? I have the serial number if needed but I've lost the installation cd when moving house recently.

    Hi jnjrobbins,
Please find the direct link to install CS3: http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html .
Dont forget to follow very important instructions before download.

  • Trying to load CS3 Design Premium on a new machine; it's blocked by system check.

I'm trying to load CS3 Design Premium on a new laptop. The system check is preventing InDesign from loading. It inaccurately indicates I don't have great enough resolution. Does anyone have a workaround?
I have a PC running Windows 7 OS.
    I've done the following:
Adjusted the resolution to maximum resolution and also to the value Adobe recommends. Both without success.
Used Adobe cleaner, restarted, and tried to reload. No luck. InDesign and Illustrator are still prevented from loading due to resolution ((1024 X 768).
    Ideas, tips, and workarounds appreciated!

Jane, please turn off the autoquote in you email when replying.
I've installed it on two CS3 win 7 machines with wide-screens without incident. Are you running the installer from disk or a download? The CS3 installers was pretty finicky, as I recall, and you may need to perform a "clean boot" to get it to work. See How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista

  • Install CS4 web premium on a new computer without "old product/serial number" that I need to validate this copy?

I am trying to install CS4 web premium on a new computer and have the serial number/date of purchase for this product, but at the start of installation it wants an old product previously installed and what that serial number is.  There's a chance it's on some old computer in a box, but I haven't seen / used a product besides CS4 in years (purchased in 2011) and don't know how I can put it on this new computer & get back to using it without knowing this mystery serial number? Thanks for your help & suggestions

It appears you purchased an upgrade version of CS4 and if so you are required to prove that you qualify for using it.  This means you need to identify the old version and its serial number - no way around that.  You will need to find that mystery version information.  If you check your Adobe account online you might find it.

"I have just transferred my itunes account to a new computer and when i try to sync , I get a 'this ipod is synced with another itunes library ,do you want to erase this ipod and sync with this itunes library"
    Correct.
"will answering 'yes' erase what i currently have on my ipod"
    Yes.
If you copied everything from your old computer to your new one, as you should always do, then the content will be put right back when you sync.
"i'd like to get an ipad 3, if i cant sort out my account ,I'll get the galaxy note 10.1 !"
OK.  We are all itunes users like you. You threat of buying a different device means nothing here.

You are looking at the drop-down menus at the top of iTunes e.g. on a Mac :
If you are on iTunes 11 on Windows then press Alt-S and the Store menu should appear at the top.

  • Program settings advice for CS3 Prod Premium on Vista 64-bit

I need advice to optimize my PC for CS3 Production Premium after a clean re-install of Vista 64-bit. I am on a new HP Pavilion d5000t desktop with Quad core 2.66 and 8GB RAM. I got the PC in August, and began having problems from the start. I don't know if it was the computer or CS3.
I was having performance issues and numerous freezes. Failures were mostly in Encore, but also in the other CS3 apps. I got no error messages telling me what was wrong. They simply stopped working" and forced shutdowns. I did plenty of Vista's diagnostics tests but never isolated the cause. After doing a couple of editing jobs, I had cache folders and previes files everywhere.
I now have the computer back to factory condition. It has some neat features and programs, but I probably don't need a lot of it. Norton Security, games, Windows Defender, consumer photo and video apps, and others. However, I am afraid to uninstall or disable anything because I won't know what I'm doing. I had existing jobs in progress before I backed up my files onto an extarnal drive.
I am about to re-install CS3 and restore my backup. I need help setting up scratch disks and other settings. I have no idea how to set up Version Cue or Bridge for file management. The factory system drive is a 2-drive RAID 0 1TB total and is probably the most capable, but I don't know if I should store all my video on there. It used to be you had to separate the system drive from the content storage, but I don't know if that's still the case. Apart from the factory drives, I plan to install two more internal 250 GB SATA drives, an external 1 TB Buffalo drive with triple interface. I also have a MyBook and a Maxtor OneTouch 4 external, both 500 GB. I work primarily with MiniDV video.
Please somebody send me a good configuration plan so I won't get confused again. Thanks.

  • Help! CS3 Production Premium major issues in Vista.

I have been having a heck of a time re-installing CS3 Production Premium on my Windows Vista Home Premium computer (32 bit).
    Here are the system stats:
Vista Home Premium 32 bit Service Pack 1
Intel 8500 dual core processor (swapped out old 6400)
    4 GB DDR 800
    (new) 500 GB WD HDD
Nvidia 9600 GTS 512MB Video Card
McAfee Firewall/Viruscan running in place of Windows
    DSL Internet
CS3 Was working great on this computer when it had the slower processor and a smaller HD (160 GB) but since that drive's death and subsequent replacement I have not been able to get a fully successful installation of CS3 to work on this computer. I have done multiple re-installs (format/install) of the OS, CS3 (install and uninstall), running the CleanCS3 script as suggested from tech support, ran under a new user, and install/running under a simplified bootup using msconfig.
CS3 installs successfully but when it comes to starting for the first time it takes about 10+ minutes to load the serial number screen, then hangs and is unable to activate. I then wait another 5-10 minutes for the "phone activation" screen to come up which succeeds.
Once activation is successful I can now boot into most of the CS3 programs with these results:
    AE - Boots OK/Exits OK
PS - Boots OK/Exits Hang on exit (have to force quit)
IL - Boots OK/Exits Hang on exit (have to force quit)
EN - Hang on Boot while building media layer
    FL - Boots OK/Exits OK
    PR - Hang on Boot
    SB - Boots OK/Exits OK
Please help anyone! I'm at wits end here as to why something that was working so well just days before on the same OS and Antivirus/Firewall system has since ceased to work properly. I am having to borrow the Macintosh from work in order to get work done using their copy of the CS3 suite.
    Thanks in advance.

  • CS3 Design Premium installation on new machine

Hi hoping you can advise me as I'm a recent member of the forum.
I'm running CS3 Design Premium at work (am hoping to upgrade the software later this year) and am in the process of getting a new desktop (Dell T3500, 1 intel Xeon W3680 3.06Ghz processor, 6GB Ram, 500MB HD, 1GB video card, Windows 7 64-Bit (tho they may just install XP for now)).  This machine will be 'mine' for the next 5yrs so I want to make sure that I get one that will 'do the job'.
My IT dept have asked me to find out if the above software would benefit from a machine with a dual core or quad core processor, is the support out their from Adobe for quad core processors?  I will admit I have no idea so thought I'd ask you guys .
Any help/advice you can give on the hardware spec would be greatly appreciated.

    Steve,
Thanks for getting back to me with regards to my HD query re Design Premium

  • Help Reinstalling CS3 Web Premium

I need to get CS3 Web Premium installed on my new laptop (Vista Business SP1).
I originally bought CS2 Premium, which I had installed on my old laptop. I then upgraded to CS3 Web Premium. I have the feeling I opted for a trial and then an update, which I paid for. I do now have a CS3 Web Premium box, but it doesn't contain any disks and I can't see a serial number on it.
Can you tell me whether I should have disks and a serial number for the upgrade I purchased???
When I attempt to install CS2 Premium on my new laptop from my disks and with my licence code, the licence code isn't recognised. So, what do I do about this?
Then, how am I supposed to get the upgrade to CS3 Web Premium done??? (Seeing that I don't seem to have disks or serial code - I don't think I lost them, I just think I never had them).
I can prove all the purchases I have made. It would be easiest if Adobe could just provide a CS3 Web Premium download for me with a new serial code.
    Please could someone help me.
    Many thanks

    Hi,
Get in touch with Adobe Customer Service, if your software is registered then they will be able to retrieve your serial number and send you the links for the software, if not then they probably can provide you new serial number if you have valid proof of purchase.
    Regards

  • I transferred all my music to my new computer, went to sync my iphone and the music library won't sync. It's like it's leaving the old library on and trying to add a duplicate one, keeps saying there isn't enough room. Help please?

Everything from my old computer is still in the music portion of my phone, I don't know how but it hasn't synced that part.  I went through and edited the new library and there are fewer songs, it's telling my I don't have enough room on my phone.  This is impossible when it is less music than I am currently holding.  How do I get it to delete the old information and put on the new library?

How exactly was the music transferred to the new computer?
The correct way is to copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.  If it was transferred properly there are no issues with syncing to the iOS device.

  • Help transferring everything from old 3gs to new 4s

My girlfriend has just got a new 4s to replace her old 3gs.  Unfortunately, the (windows) desktop we used to sync the 3gs has recently pretty much died.  Is there any way to get all the data from the old phone to the new one easily?  I've got a macbook I can use to sync the new phone, but not sure I can get everything off the old phone this way...
If I lose the music that's not too much of a problem, but don't want to lose contacts, texts, apps, saves, settings etc.
    Thanks

You've got your work cut out for you, but here's what you need to do. First create a separate login on your computer for your GF. Then do the following...DO NOT UPDATE the software on the 3GS or connect the 4S until you've first done the following:
By design, the iphone will sync itunes content with one computer at a time. Any attempt to sync such content with a second computer will result in ALL itunes content being first erased from her phone & then replaced with the content from the second computer. This is a design feature and cannot be overridden. Because you are replacing your GF's computer, her phone will see this computer as a "new" computer. The itunes content sync is one way: computer to phone. If you have photos that were synced to her phone or music ripped on her own that were not backed up, you will first have to extract them from her phone using third party software, before you do anything else, as Apple makes no provision to do so:
    http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/index.php
Once you've done that, do the following in the order specified:
    1. Disable auto sync when an iPod/iPhone is connected under Preferences>Devices in itunes(under the edit menu if using Windows).
    2. Make sure you have one contact & one event in the supported applications(Address Book, iCal) on your computer. These entries can be fake, doesn't matter, the important point is that these programs not be empty.
    3. Connect her phone, iTunes running, do not sync at this point.
    4. Store>Authorize this computer.
    5. File>Transfer Purchases(To make sure all purchased content on her phone will be in her itunes library).
    6. Right click in the device pane & select reset warnings.
    7. Right click again and select backup.
    8. Right click again & select restore from backup, select the backup you just made. When prompted to create another backup, decline.
    9. This MUST be followed by a sync to restore her itunes content, which you select from the various tabs, You'll get a popup regarding her contacts & calendars asking to merge or replace, select merge.
Now that you've done the above, you can connect the 4S & follow these instructions:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2109
You should be good to go.

  • Transferring library to iTunes on a new computer

I have an extensive iTunes library on my old computer that I use for my video iPod. I recently got a new computer and want an easy way to transfer the library over to iTunes on that computer. When I plug my current iPod into the new computer it says that my iPod is already synced with another iTunes library and that I can only have one synced up at a time. Is there any way of tranferring my library using my iPod or without using an external hard drive? I have tried using a flash drive but it seems that it will take forever!
