  • Stuck halfway through rendering artwork

    Hi there.
I am on a Mac. I have been using Illustrator without problems for the last couple of weeks. This evening I was working on a simple graphic; I attempted to use the 3-D effect again, having used it with no problems during the evening. Illustrator immediately froze (after throwing me out a couple of times) and just get stuck halfway through rendering the artwork. The file is only 1.4 meg so I don't see why it should struggle. I've tried to turning off and on again, every time I open the file the bad just get stuck halfway through rendering the artwork. Frustrating. Please help thank you

Thanks for your reply, Larry. Sorry it has taken me a while to notice that you kindly tried to assist me. In the end I just rebooted and it seemed to sort itself out. Thanks again for taking the time. Merry Christmas to you.

  • I have a Bootcamp partition on  my Imac with Mavericks which I can't delete because the Partition Layout is greyed out and is stuck on 'Current'. What can I do?

I have a Bootcamp partition on my Imac with Mavericks which I can't delete because the Partition Layout in Disk Utility is greyed out and is stuck on 'Current'. What can I do? I was trying to install Windows 8.1 but apparently, this is not yet possible.
I was originally able to restore to my original Mac OSX partition using Boot Camp Assistant but then after entering Disk Utility and re-RAIDing the default RAID 1 to RAID 0 in the BootCamp partition (I suspect this is the cause of the problem but why was it defaulted to RAID 1 in the first place?!!!!), forever afterwards, I couldn't restore the single OSX partition.
Whenever I used BootCamp Assistant my choice to 'Install or remove Windows 7 or later version' was greyed out. Finally I went to Disk Utility to repartition but the Macintosh HD and BootCamp disk partition functions were also greyed out (even if I started up from Recovery mode holding down option, command and 'R' and choosing Disk Utility). BootCamp Assistant gives the error message 'The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition' with additional small script 'The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows', and DU gives the error message 'The full size of the Fusion drive is not available for repartitioning'.
What can I do to fix this problem? How can I make the Partition Layout button active in DU so I can change the partition to all OSX? I'm prepared to wipe off all my data etc to repartition and have backed up all to disk using Time Machine.

My problem is fixed now, thank you. It was caused by my changing the Boot Camp partition's 'RAID1' to 'RAID0'. If I hadn't done that, Boot Camp would still have been able to 'restore' back to the one partition. It was fixed with the help of Applecare by using a terminal and typing a command to erase the IP of the Macintosh disk (not the volume) as well as the IP of the Bootcamp partition (if I remember correctly), but then I had to restore the OS and all my applications and data etc which I had previously backed up using Time Machine. I haven't taken note of the exact command terminology used. It would be wise to speak to Applecare about this if possible.
Two words of warning, 1. According to the cause of this problem, it might be wise, after reinstalling the ops system to reinstall all extra applications one by one, manually, in case a similar problem arises again. Then manually copy back all data. Or the Mac user could use the Time Machine backup and then uninstall all the added apps then re-install them one by one manually. 2. Beware as after all this the user might not have the 'Recovery partition'. There is a small recovery partition (a few 100 Mb is size) which comes with all later Macs. After all this is done this tiny partition might not be there anymore and the user might have to re-install Mavericks again to get it back, or just install the upcoming update of Mavericks due in a month or so.

Hey, I just downloaded an album from iTunes Store. Four of the tracks stop halfway through. How can I redownload them? Any help would be appreciated

Delete the current copies and then download again (free) from your purchased history. If the problem persists contact iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history.

  • I'm having trouble with my computer, I boot it up and within a few minutes it freezes and I have to restart it, I tried updating it to the latest mavericks but it won't finish the installation it's stuck at the end, what can I do to fix this?

As stated I'm having trouble with my computer, I boot it up and within a few minutes it freezes and I have to restart it, I tried updating it to the latest mavericks but it won't finish the installation it's stuck at the end, what can I do to fix this? I need it for homework tonight.

    Crowntheme,
you can try this: boot your MacBook Pro into Recovery mode by holding down a Command key and the R key as it starts up. Once the Mac OS X Utilities menu appears, select Disk Utility. On the left-hand side of the Disk Utility window, select your internal disk’s boot partition (typically called “Macintosh HD”). On the right-hand side, press the Verify Disk button if it’s not greyed out; if it is greyed out, or if it reports that errors were found, press the Repair Disk button. Once the verification/repair is completed, exit Disk Utility and select Restart from the Apple menu to restart in normal mode. Does it still freeze after a few minutes?

  • My ipod has lines running through it, what can I do

My ipod classic has lines running through the screen.  What can I do to fix it?

First and foremost: Try resetting the device. If that doesn't fix the problem, it could be a hardware issue. I would then suggest contacting Apple Technical Support or taking it to your local Genius bar at an Apple Store.

  • HT201412 The apple logo got stuck on my iPhone, what can i do ?

My apple logo got stuck while rebooting what can i do tp fix it ?

Was this a text message, or did you get redirected to that site in Safari? If the latter, that app probably did it, and that should be reported to Apple. I can't imagine how such a scam wouldn't be a violation of the App Store rules. (You can report a problem with an app in the purchase history on a computer in iTunes, though the interface for doing so is quite bad. I'm not sure what you would do if you don't have iTunes on a computer.)
If it was a text message, be sure to block the sender in Settings -> Messages -> Blocked.

  • Leopard install is stuck halfway through. How do I get out?

I have a Power Mac G4, currently running OSX 10.3.9. Today I bought the installer disc for Leopard, and began an install.
The install is stuck on the "Installing" screen (which comes after it checks your disc is OK). I have the dreaded spinning beachball of death, and the thin blue line in the progress bar is going nowhere. Under the progress bar it says "Time remaining: Calculating...
    My G4 specs:
    Power PC G4 (3.3)
    OSX 10.3.9
    Processor: 1.25GHz
    Memory: 1.25GB DDR SDRAM
I set the disc going in the lower DVD chamber (not the DVD player that came with the Mac, but another one I had installed that also has a DVD burner). Is it possible that my Mac doesn't like me using this DVD drive?
Help! How do I stop it and try again? I don't want to just shut down my machine in case I kill in mid-install. Is there a way of force-quitting the install or something?

A halfway installed operating system is not totally lost necessarily. It could just be a bad directory, or insufficient space, or a corrupt file somewhere that has yielded an issue installing. Regardless, you can attempt to recover data to an empty Firewire external hard drive at least the same size as your internal drive using Prosoft Data Rescue, Subrosasoft Filesalvage, or Boomerang's Boomerang if you can't mount the hard drive via Target Disk Mode using another Mac or booting that external hard drive from a second partition. To mount it via Target Disk Mode do this set of instructions:
    http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n58583
Your recovered files won't be bootable, and registration codes won't be saved, but at least your data has a good chance of being saved if you do one of the above.
If you decide to get a second Firewire hard drive, my recommendation is to get one at least 20 GB larger than your internal hard drive, partition it, and install Leopard, Superduper, and one or all of the data recovery programs (Data Rescue, Filesalvage, Boomerang) on the 20 GB partition, and leaving the empty partition to recover data to. If you can boot that external hard drive's partition and do that recovery in one way or another, then you can safely analyze why the internal hard drive failed installation.
To boot the external hard drive after installing the operating system on it, use the Startup Manager below:
    http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n106178
If none of the three recovery utilities can see the internal hard drive, then a data recovery specialist such as http://www.drivesavers.com/ is necessary. They are expensive.
This is why you should always backup before installing new software, and after saving any important data. See my backup FAQ*:

  • Trash is stuck in "perpetual empty" cycle

My trash can is stuck in a perpetual "empty" cycle so that anything I place in the trash is immediately deleted. How do I reset it so that I have to empty the trash manually?

    1. Minimize all open windows/apps, or just click on any free space on your desktop.
    2. Click Finder (in the menu bar, at the top) > Preferences... > Advanced tab
    3. Uncheck "Empty Trash Securely"
    4. Check "Show Warning before Emptying Trash"
    Et voila!
After that, if you use Finder to emtpy your Trash, you'll be given options for both.

  • HT204350 Migrating from a 2010 MBP to a 2013 iMac - stuck halfway through???

I have begun migrating from a 2010 MBP to a 2013 iMac after installing mavericks on both. They are connected by ethernet. The MBP isn't updated to the latest version because it was installed from a previous copy from apple. The migration has started and is stuck on 1 hour19 mins, what should i do? is it safe to somehow stop the migration process? or is it best to leave it be for a few hours or something? i had a lot of trouble starting the process as i had to try multiple times to get it to locate all the files and folders on the MBP. Thanks for the help.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Leave it for some minutes to see if the migration process continues. If not, simply turn off both Macs, turn them on and transfer the files again.
If the migration gets stuck again, consider the option of making a Time Machine backup of your old MacBook Pro onto an external drive, and then use that backup to restore your files to the iMac. The steps to restore a backup from an external drive are the same.
