HELP! tried to revert 10.4.9 to an earlier version, now can't update

So in an unassuming software update my computer went from 10.4.8 to 10.4.9. then, i opened final cut. then, i almost had a heart attack because it would not allow me to log and capture in final cut (this is an established bug with the new update--note to video people--DO NOT GO TO 10.4.9!). i had a big videography project to do, so I frantically had to re-install my OS X discs that came with the computer. (My finalcut 4.5 works just fine, there is no need to burn $600 to buy version 5). however now that my computer is back to 10.4.4, there are other programs that are not working like elluminate which i use in a graduate class. SO i tried to update to 10.4.8, i downloaded the update, but now it won't install. do i have to update from 4.4 to 4.5 to 4.6 and so on? please help, this is my first time posting because I am really at a loss.

Trying to uninstall and download itunes keep getting message "the older version of apple software update cannot be removed contact support group. There must be a hidden file I can't find.

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25 2010. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

HT4457 I can't seem to update my Apple TV softward. I've tried several times, but it keeps coming back with the message can't update.

I am not sure what generation my Apple TV is, I bought it a couple of years ago, but cannot update it no matter what I try. I would really like to update it, but don't know how. I try to update it and it runs for a long, long time and then says it can't update at this time.

Well, I fixed it and was able to download the latest Apple TV update. This is to help anyone who has this problem with an older Apple TV. On Apple's website it suggested that you "reset" and restart the Apple TV setting it back to the Factory default. That is what I ended up doing and it worked. Then all you have to do is sign on again and set up Netflix. I also set my Apple TV to download updates automatically now.

Can someone help me with my phone? I downloaded the new version of itunes and updated my phone but now it's saying that my pin is blocking it. I dont know what to do

here's what i did and what's now happening:
-i downloaded the newest iTunes
-i updated my phone
-everything got installed (into my laptop and phone)
-my phone restarted
-it said to enter in my pin number
-i did
-says the pin number is blocking it or something
-it's now saying i have to insert a sim card with no pin (which i do not have)

Help...ipad2, did ios5 upgrade yesterday which made me change apple id for an email account instead of my usual one word username. Now can't update apps because old apple id still pops up asking for also previous pwd.!!

Apple ID big mess...one misspelled username, one "old" username that won't accept pwd and new id that will not pop up for use in app udates or itunes!!!!!! HELP!?

You need to sort out which iTunes account is valid (use iTunes on computer and login with the correct acct/password), as all of your Apps should still be associated with that account. If you are referring to the iCloud account that you set up at the install of iOS5, you can still have have a separate iTunes account that's different than what you use for iCloud. However, Apple recommends that you use your iTunes account login for both if you want to later use music streaming/iTunes Match. If you decide to have different iCloud/iTunes accounts on the same device, go to Setting>Store and then enter your old iTunes account email and password there. If your iCloud username is messed up, you can delete the account from the device under settings>icloud; you can then set up a new one or select that you want to use your iTunes account.

Created new site, now can't update.. please help!

I created my new site in IWeb 08 after the upgrade. My old site stayed in IWeb until I was done replicating it. I did pull the blog from the old site to the new site so I wouldn't lose my entries.
Everything looks great in IWeb. However when I publish it goes through the creating pages stuff and finishes. But instead of telling me go visit my page, it tells me my .mac membership expires in 2 weeks and ask if I want to renew. It's set to automatic renewel so I'm not going to renew it again.
The funny thing is. Prior to me adding my videos and photos in I could publish fine. I actually see the first part of what I published fine. Just can't publish anymore. I noticed that after I do publish I have to restart IWeb before I can publish again because it won't recognize that the files have changed.
Could this be because I have too many photos / videos? Is this what it would do. I have about 7 qt 1-2 minute videos, and one 19 minute qt video. Then I have about 200 photos.
I have the minimum .mac storage account. 5 GB i think? I didn't cross that i doubt.

As an update. Now I publish it and it's going through the motions... I just never get the confirmation that it was published. But all my pages turn blue to indicate they have been... Only they really wern't updated. I close IWeb and come back and they are all red. I repeat the upload process... file, upload all to .mac... logging in... creating page x...y...z... dissapears. Pages turned blue, nothing is update.

My people soft system runs very slowly at early morning, but after about 8:30, it returns normal. it's very occasion several months ago, but now becomes usually. there is no process run at that time, and the net seems ok, in my opinion, it is related with cache, but i don't know how to check.
how do you think about my problem? can you help me?

i've checked the process scheduler => process monitor, only user PSAPPS runs the process PRCSYSPURGE at midnight,
but, if this process really does work, why the system runs normally at beginning?
our system has been running for more than one year and a half, and the question appears only several months ago.

Airport stopped working, so I tried to reinstall the OS and applications, but because it's all earlier versions, I can't use Word, iWork, or anything else. Since I didn't erase the versions I got with my (secondhand) macbook, can I uninstall and go back?

I bought the macbook with other stuff installed, but was only given the original discs. I hadn't realised that the OS and pretty much everything else had been upgraded from what was on the discs, and now I can't work on any of my documents. I have also bought software based on the operating system installed when I bought it, and now some of it is no longer usable, either.
It's bad enough I have to borrow my roommate's computer to get internet for job hunting and important communications, since Airport just stopped working (not sure what's up with that, but I hardly care now, in light of everything else), but now I need it to even write out lesson plans for my volunteer teaching or do my own writing. If I had a job, I'd have gone to an Apple certified place a long time ago to try fixing the Airport. Since I couldn't afford it, I thought I'd try reinstalling everything. I don't know much about where everythign is, so I figured maybe that would reinstall Airport, too. .
The sucky thing is, I had planned to buy more recent versions of any of the extra programs that I use once I had the money. just not quite yet.
I didn't use the 'delete and install option,' yet the earlier versions seem to have taken over and overwritten things. For instance, now some programs say parts are missing, or are just trial versions.
Lesson learned: Leave things well enough alone until you can afford the experts. Obviously there are some things I can't fix for myself.

Hi!! To add more to the issue, the other day, my airport card is nowhere to be found. It now says no airport card installed which is really crazy. I also noticed that my MBP freezes during start up and I had to zap the PRAM so it would open up. Anyone there who experienced the same thing? I'd really appreciate your suggestions. Thanks!

I've changed AppleID and now can't update Apps. Help!

I've seen lots of discussion on similar lines but don't seem to find any solutions. To be clear, all I've done is follow instructions from Apple regarding how to change AppleID. I did this as old email account was about to become obsolete. Which also means I can't just change back. When I now try to update Apps, the password popup has the old AppleID hardwired. If I sign out and in with new AppleID this does not change. I don't recall any warning from Apple that changing my AppleID would create this problem. I am now dead scared that it is being treated like a new account which will also cause me problems with music downloads etc. From the amount of similar complaints online I would not seem to be the only victim here. Does anyone have a clear answer to this?

On your iDevice, make sure you first log out then log back in with the updated AppleID.
Settings > Store, tap the account name then Sign out and Sign in.
The AppleID used to purchase the item is embedded into the item at time of purchase.
If you have simply updated your AppleID, just use the current password when the old AppleID shows up. You don't need to (and cannot) change the AppleID to the new AppleID.

Firefox will not open. I have tried to uninstall and this wont work. I have laded beta version but I still can't uninstall earlier version. I would prefer the earlier version working. I have tried to update this version and that wont work either

I can't open firefox. I have tried to update, repair and uninstall and nothing works. I have checked that it is not already running. I have restored my pc to an earlier date, completed scans but it will still not work. I have loaded the beta version ok but I am not keen on it and would prefer the earlier version.

Downloaded new iTunes but now can't access store....HELP PLEASE!

In order to download a TV programme from iTunes I had to download a newer version of iTunes however, when I downloaded this it gave me a message saying in order to now use the iTunes store I had to have Safari 4, however, I can't download Safari 4 as my mac is only 10.5.2 and it needs to be 10.5.7, now can I update my mac to be 10.5.7 (I found this patch but don't want to download it unless it's right - http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1058comboupdate .html ) OR can I get rid of the iTunes I downloaded and have my old one back???

That is the correct updater to bring your system up to the latest version of Mac OS X 10.5.

You can't but it's not particularly easy. Try updating Mac OS X and then installing Safari 4.0.3 and see where that gets you. Then if you continue to have problems, post back and someone can help further.

Well I spoke too soon.
The update was successful, but now I cannot connect to the 3GS data network.
Cannot get email and cannot open a page in Safari.
+"Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding."+

+THe mail server is not responding. Verify that you have entered the correct account info in Mail settings."+
Email and internet work fine on WiFi.........no data using 3GS network.
Looks like I will have to revert back to old OS.
