Help trying to get purchased songs to play on computer without itunes?

My fiance is creating a photo slideshow for our wedding on her laptop, which does not have itunes. We downlaoded a few songs to play in the background from itunes (on our desktop computer) and tried putting them on a flashdrive and then putting them into the slideshow program. We need to convert them to mp3 files so that they will play on the slideshow program but the purchased songs are protected files. Does anyone know how to turn them into regular old mp3s?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!

You don't "enable" iTunes Plus, per se. For new purchases, Just look for tracks that have the "+" next to the price in the iTunes Store. Those will be Plus tracks and not copy protected. For older tracks that you already purchased, go to the iTunes Plus link at the upper-right of the iTunes Store pages. When you click that link, you'll be taken to a page that will have an "Upgrade My Library" header. If any tracks are eligible to be upgraded, there will be a button that says "upgrade" (or something to that effect; I don't remember the exact phrasing).
Alternatively, you can try one of the download stores that sell tracks in MP3 format (which is always unprotected) such as Amazon. Some record labels, in an attempt to force Apple's hand on some policies, are licensing other stores to sell unprotected tracks where they won't allow Apple to do so.
Note, though, that just because they're not protected doesn't mean that you will have the license to give them away. As long as this slideshow will just be shown at your wedding, you should be OK, but you can't give the slideshow containing the songs away. Just a "heads-up".
Congratulations and a wish for a happy life together. Cheers.

  • I got a new computer and downloaded itunes to it, is there a way to get my song from my old computer with itunes to my new one without having to redownload them all

I was hoping i could just sign in on my new one and get all the songs to it with out redownloading them.

It is a reasonable question - we increasingly see the ability to access "my data" through the cloud rather than relying on local storage.  In the case of iTunes:
You can, in most cases, access and re-download previous iTunes Store purchases
If you subscribe to iTunes Match, your complete library - within the 25,000 song limit imposed by the service - will be available to you,
That being said, the most complete and reliable method is still to copy your complete library (database, media, artwork, ...) from the older computer to the new one.  If you've configured iTunes so that all your music, etc., is stored within the iTunes Media folders then you can just copy the C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes folder and all its contents from the old computer to the corresponding location on the new one.  Depending on the size of your library you can copy it across a network, using a thumb drive or an external (USB) hard drive.
If you have media stored elsewhere on the old computer the process is a little more complex.

  • How do I get my songs back on my computer after erroneously deleting them

I erroneously deleted all the songs I had purchased from i-Tunes from my computer.  I re-installed i-Tunes and am trying to get my songs back on my computer.  How doI do that?

Restore them from your backup, or use these instructions to redownload them through the iCloud.

How do I get a purchased song to play on my ipod shuffle remote from the docking station?

I can think of only one reason a song would be "converted" while it is being loaded on a shuffle.
Select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, depending on iPod model, go to the Summary or Settings tab.  There should be a setting there that says Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC (the 128 kbps part may be adjustable).  If that checkbox is checked, try unchecking it.
NOTE:  This setting may allow more songs to fit on the shuffle, but for any converted song, the sound quality will become inferior.  So I don't use it.

  • Error message when trying to download purchased songs

I purchased some albums on my ipad that synced to my iphone. I'm now trying to download my purchases to my library stored on my PC, but I'm getting an error/warning message along the lines of:
"You can download past purchases for up to 90 days.....You cannot assign another apple id to this computer for the next 30 days".
Does anyone have any ideas? I did have to sign my wife out of itunes before i signed in to download my songs so i assuming its something to do with that.

When trying to download purchased songs on ITunes, it
gives an error message that the network connection
timed out. also gives this error message when I try
to download ITunes software. Can anyone help with
    this error? Thanks
I am having the same problem. (err = -3259) and it's not listed in any of the error codes in Apple Support. Weird. Why have an error code and no reference for it.
First it happened when I tried to download a movie and I kept "checking for purchases" - didn't work - checked all my ad filters, privacy filters, firewall settings - didn't work. Then I forgot for a day, went back and it worked. Now I have three episodes of a TV show that will not download and I am getting the same error message. This time it has been a few days though...Someone who knows - Please HELP!!

Sign in with the Apple ID that you used for the original purchase. See which Apple ID you used to download an item.
2 )     See if the content is available for redownload. Previously purchased items might not be available if they're no longer on the iTunes Store.

  • I made 2 playlists on Itunes and put them on my Ipod.  How do I get the songs to play consecutively and not keep playing the same song over and over again???

I'm a new Zumba instructor and have to come up with playlists for my routines.  I made 2 playlists on ITunes and put them on my Ipod.  Everytime I want to play it, only one song from the list plays over and over.  The other songs do not.  How do I get the songs to play the way I have them set up??

You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
For other music you need to get them from where you got them before.

It sounds like you might have the shuffle button at the bottom left of the iTunes (the button with the squiggly lines).
If that's not the case, then maybe you just need to sort your library by album by clicking the album tab at the top.
Is your music in a playlist, or are you trying to play it from the entire library?

If ALL your music is on the iPod and it's ALL iTunes purchased content, you log into iTunes with your account on th enew machine and reverse sycn the music back.
If the music is from cd's and other sources (not iTunes files) then ask over at iLounge what third party solution currently works. (can't recommond it here)
I have some HUGE instructions here how to get your music off the old comptuer too:
    Recovery options:
    A: If Windows isn't booting:
You need to boot the computer from a "recovery disk or USB" that has a operating system on it and a graphical user interface to transfer files from your boot drive to a external drive.
I suggest using the Easy USB Installer to install Ubuntu 10.10 onto a 2-4 GB USB key.
    http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/
    or
burn a ISO of Ubuntu 10.10 or PartedMagic to a cd-r with ImgBurn or Win 7 right click and burn
You can use Disk Utility in OS X to select the ISO and burn to cd/dvd as well.
Once you have it installed, consult this page for your BIOS boot key to hold to get into the BIOS.
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/a/biosaccess_pc.htm
Plug the USB into the back (if possible) of the computer, connect the external drive and enter the BIOS, set the USB (or CD) as first boot and SAVE.
Boot off the USB/CD and "Try Ubuntu/Run from disk" DON'T INSTALL. (Parted Magic loads into RAM and ejects CD)
Once in, go under the menu Places > Computer and transfer your files to the external drive just like you would in Windows, drag and drop.
(If using Parted Magic double click on the Mount Drive left icon twice, use the two GUI windows to transfer files to external drive, unmount drives, log out/quit in the lower left corner menu option)
B: If the computer hardware isn't working, but the drive might still work:
You'll have to remove the power cord and manually extract the hard drive. This might result in some damage.
There is a powered IDE/SATA to USB adapter for sale online for $20 that you can take that internal hard drive and use it like a external drive to access your files from another Windows machine.
C: If your iTunes content is deleted...
It might be recoverable if it hasn't been overwritten yet by fresh data. Undelete software works by reading the 1's and 0's of the files themselves, not what the OS says.
You need to use undelete software pre-installed before the iTunes content was deleted, or while on a bootable cd/USB and a external drive to transfer the recovered files.
You can also install undelete type software on a new machine and USE STEP B above to "undelete" the files and recover them directly to the new computer.
You can't install undelete software or recover files to the same drive your attempting to recover from or it overwrites the deleted data.
D: If the hard drive doesn't work and...
The data isn't worth spending $2000-$3000 in a ATTEMPT at platter dissection recovery, then your finished
If the data on the drive was encrypted, data recovery efforts may be futile, unless it's a encypted file and you transfer it successfuly and have the password to de-crypt it.
E: If you have a "iDevice" with any content
It can be synced back into iTunes, check at iLounge what third party software works reliably now and for your version.
(Once you log into your iTunes account, you can sync ONLY iTunes purchased content back from a iDevice)
Third party software can recover just about all the items on a iDevice, regardless of it's origin. (can't recommend such software here)
F: If any of the above is too hard, or the data is of "critical importance"
Then seek professional computer or forensic level recovery services.
Get help from someone who has done this sort of thing repeatly and can almost guaranty 100% results.
There is Linux software that can "rip" all data off a iOS device if that level of attention is needed, seek a professional service.
Hope this helps in your data recovery efforts.
Please, backup your data, it's the only thing us IT professionals can't recover.

Yes, I got that. My question was "are you using the same iTunes account to access music purchased from the Store?" I think your answer is "yes".

iTunes is not designed to do that. However, this user tip from tt2 may help you recover your music from your iPod, although it's not a simple process: Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
Ignore any references in the tip to iOS devices, the Classic does not use iOS. The tip has a list of software, including the TouchCopy referred to by tbirdvet that may assist you in recovering your music.

No, I haven't figured it out.  And no one from Apple has contacted me to help.  Very frustrating.  Sure makes me want to not buy music on iTunes and just buy CD's.
Do you have a 3GS too?  Maybe it's something with that phone??
