Help - Trying to password protect a section of a DW CS4 website

Iam not sure how to proceed. I have one section that is for employees and I need to password protect it. I don't need it to be indvidual passwords. One will do.
Thank you for your help. I am completely lost.

Log into your host control panel and depending on what version your host is running, you should see a way to password protect a folder. You will then assign a username and password. Put all of the files you want to protect into that folder.
You could also use server side scripting and a database to secure specific pages, but that sounds like overkill for your needs.

  • Trying to password protect a file.  Encrypted image created...now what?

    I read this article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1578
and I have created an encrypted image (.dmg) with no issue.
I'm trying to password protect a file on my computer.  It is a Word document.  I can't figure out how to move it to the encrypted image.
The support article said, "You can move files to or from an encrypted disk image as easily as you can from a non-encrypted disk image."
I tried dragging the file to the image....nothing.
Not sure where to go from here.  Thanks in advance for the help.

The advice you're getting from mende1 is not accurate. If you accurately followed the directions at that link you gave, the disk image is certainly not read-only! When creating a new disk image, the default is to create a read/write image, so unless you changed that setting when creating the disk image, that's not your problem.
My suspicion is that you're not using the image file properly. Once you have the disk image file, here's what you need to do to put the Word file in question on it:
    1) Double-click the disk image file that you created. This will "mount" the disk image as a "disk," which will show up on your desktop (if you have the Finder set to show such things on the desktop) or in the sidebar of any Finder window.
    2) Drag the Word file onto the "disk" - NOT the disk image file! It should copy the Word file onto the "disk".
    3) "Eject" the "disk" by dragging it (NOT the disk image file!) to the trash, or clicking the eject icon next to it in the sidebar of a Finder window. Once the disk is ejected, the file is locked and the contents cannot be accessed without the password.
    4) For the most security, put the original Word file in the trash and choose Secure Empty Trash from the Finder menu. Before doing this, though, it would be wise to try to re-open the disk image and make sure you successfully copied the Word file onto it, and that you can open it just fine.

  • Help in Setting Password Protection to a Page in DW MX2004

I need to add password protection to a page.  How do I do this in DW MX2004?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Dreawmweaver newbie.

    Depends on the following:
What kind of server are you on - Linux or Windows?
How secure do you need this to be?
How many pages do you want to protect?
How many unique usernames  & passwords do you need?
If your requirements are simple, start by contacting your host.  They may provide  an Admin Panel from which you could set up a password protected folder.
Or do a Google search for .htaccess and .htpasswd.

  • Help- how to password protect an external hard drive?

I'm just stuck. There must be a way to encrypt or password protect an external hard drive. No?

The easiest way is to make an encrypted disk image of the folder contents with Disk Utility. Go to Disk Utility's File menu -> New -> Disk Image from Folder. There you can pick an encrypted disk image. Once you have made that image, delete the folder that it came from and leave the image behind. Mind you, there is always the risk you might lock yourself out permanently from that data if the image becomes corrupted. You are safer keeping the external hard disk in a physically safe place when not in use.

  • How to password protect a second site within my main website?

I have an iWeb website. I would like to be able to password protect a second site within my main site. That second site has many pages.
I am looking for a password application that looks more interesting than the usual. Something more than a box with a place for others to type in their password.
Can you suggest a product that will do that? Thank you.

    I am using Numbers 08
And the Numbers User Guide, supplied with iWork '08, make no mention of password protection, which was introduced in Numbers '09.
Looks like the best option is Wayne's second suggestion—open via File > Print > PDF > Open in Preview, then Save the resulting PDF document with encryption turned on.
An alternate, if you want the recipients to receive a copy of the Numbers '08 file, and to be able to edit that file, you could enclose it in a secure disk image file.
    The basic procedure is to:
Use Disk Utility to create a new, blank, sparse disk image, assign a password and save.
Double-click the .dmg file (and enter the password when requested) to mount the disk image on your desktop, then Save a copy of your file to the (open) disk image.
When done, eject the image, and upload the (encrypted) .dmg file to the website.
Detailed instructions may be found in Disk Utility's Help files.
Launch DU (found in the Utilities folder in Applications), click the Help menu and choose Disk Utility help.
Go to the index, scroll to and click Security, then click a title similar to "Protecting confidential documents in a secure disk image." (a search on 'confidential' should also take you to a list containing that title.)
My version of DU is old enough that sparse images hadn't been introduced, or I'd post a copy of the article here.

  • Password Protect Folder with Pics in Photoshop CS4

I want to password protect a folder  I have JPEGS in so any one else who may access my computer cannot get into that folder and view what is inside. How do I do it?

When I go to my file tab, brows in bridge, it says the  Adobe Bridge service is no longer available.
And you cannot password protect individual files as states from the other answers below. it said you cant do it in Windows
Can I protect files or folders with a password?
No, you can't use a password to protect files and folders in Windows.  However, some programs that run on Windows do  allow you to protect individual files by using a password. For more information,  check the Help for the program you are using.
There are other ways to protect your files and folders in Windows. You can encrypt your files, manually specify who can access the folders or files, or hide them.  Choose your method based on how secure the folders or files need to be.  Encrypting is the most secure, while hiding the folders is the least secure.
    Note
The ability to encrypt files and folders is not available in Windows Vista Starter, Windows Vista Home Basic, and Windows Vista Home Premium.

  • Can I set up a password protected webpage within my site? CS4

Can I set up a password protected webpage within my site? I'm using CS4 and would like to create an orphaned page for internal use only.  Is there any way you can set up a password protect on one page within an otherwise public website?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Cheers

The simplest way to achieve this would be to enable password protection for a certain subdirectory by using .htaccess. As long as you / your provider is using apache as web server this can be setup within minutes, all you need is a ftp client (plenty of freeware ones out there),
and here's a tutorial on how to do it: http://www.javascriptkit.com/howto/htaccess3.shtml Google will list many more if you search for "htaccess password"
Or, send your provider an email, he might be willing to do it for you, maybe even for free, since it doesnt take more than 5 minutes to set up.

  • How can I password protect imbedded folders within an iWeb-created website?

I have read that iWeb will not allow you to password protect individual imbedded content (ex. individual albums or pictures), but, that you can only protect the whole site. I have also read on here that the password protection for the site isn't very good and is easily broken.
Short of creating multiple pages (each password protected) and then linking all the private pages to a public page, is there any easier way to password protect individual items of content rather than the whole site, preferably in a way that can't be "broken" in terms of bypassing the password?
Maybe I need to use a different application to create the website? If so, recommendations?

What kind of content? If you use PDF files you can password protect them when you create them. The same goes for Word documents.

  • Trying to password protect an individual section of my site.

I'm serving my site off my home computer (not .mac). It seems like the password feature in iWeb only works if you use .mac so I decided to add a .htaccess file in one of the subfolders and I added to appropriate .htpasswd file in the Webserver directory and changed the appropriate sections in the httpd.conf file.
Now, this approach kind of worked in that I couldn't see any of the pics in the protected section but since the actual .index file is outside that folder you could still read the figure captions with little questions marks for where the images would be. I was expecting my browser to ask for a username and pass. Does anyone know why that didn't happen?

    This add-on may help:
    https://nic-nac-project.org/~kaosmos/morecols-en.html
I've had this add-on for so long that I can't remember what it does and does not provide.
If you select a List in your Address Book, so that its contents display at the right, does "Export" not write just the Lists's member Contacts out to the csv file?
It does here, but this may be thanks to the above-mentioned add-on.

I have been trying for a while to disable the ability for users to password protect a section in Onenote 2013.
I need to have access to all users onenote notebooks within the organization.
    I have tried HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\OneNote\General\PasswordProtectionDisabled = 1 and it didn't work.
I tried the above solution on the 2010 version and it worked, but instead of it being 15.0 it was 14.0.

    >>>In run command Type "gpedit.msc"
     gpedit.msc->User configuration->Administrative Templates->Microsoft OneNote 2013->Password >>>Do the necessary changes.
Once done with above changes, then go to below location & make the necessary settings:
