HELP: Trying to print with a dot and matrix printer
Ok, here's the deal:
I own a very very old, 1985, OLIVETTI DM 292 printer and I want to try printing with it on Mac OS X 10.5.7 .
I am trying to use the generic EPSON 9- or 24-pin drivers that are present in OS X.
But so far I've had very little success.
I am using a parallel-to-USB cable that makes OS X recognize the printer as the name of the cable manufacturer.
Let's do an example:
I want to print a .doc, Microsoft Word document.
I PRINT and select the DaM printer.
The status window eventually comes to "GenericClass: waiting for device" and the printer freezes.
Previously, if I turned the printer off and then on immediately after it would print (even with the most possible chaos).. but this trick seems to be uneffective now.
Can you help me ?

Try the alternate USB driver, usbtb. It is supposed to help with USB-parallel adapter cables.

I need some help resizing my images on PS6. I am using a mac and have been trying to resize with same resolution and constaining proportions but for some reaseon the smaller resized image appears pizelated. Heres an image of before and after. The first image I use is a JPG 72dpi 1500px x1500px and I want to downsize it to 600x600px same res, but it keeps pixelating, this has never happened before. Any suggestions, thoughts?

When I plug in my headphones into my imac only the right side plays music. I tried with other headphones and still has the same problem. I tried the headphones with other devices and they work properly. Can anyone help me with my problem please?

Tried updating my iPhone 4S with IOS 7. It is now frozen on a white screen with two black dots and two black dashes. It will flip to another screen once in a while that says "Slide to setup." But when I do, it goes back to the screen with the dots and dashes.
What happened with your phone? I'm experiencing the same problems at the moment.

My iPad screen has gone black. I have tried resetting it with the sleep and home buttons and it only flashes the apple on the screen for a nano second and then it goes black again. I can even hear notifications arriving, but I cannot see anything...I'd rather not reset it to the factory settings as I have a lot of things I worry about using. Either way seems to me that the system itself is working since I can hear it working, but its the screen that isn't. It has not been dropped and has been in a case for years! Please help!
When the power is on and I press the home button, I can slide my finger where the slider bar "would be" and it makes the noise as if its "opening" flashes a blue screen then returns black...

I have inserted a mini cd in my cd drive but the drive did not detect it; I am unable to eject the cd. I have tried re-starting with F12 depressed and also re-starting with the mouse pad depressed.
I am in a country where I belive there is no Apple support - Azerbaijan.
Apart from a tin opener, any other methods for extracting the mini cd.
I only found out that mini cds are not suitable after inserting this one and then reading 2 help manuals!!!Take it to a place that repairs computers if you're not close to any apple authorized dealer.
You user guide clearly states that you can not use smaller CDs in your Macbook.
Lesson learned. Hopefully a repair shop can get it out for you.
Do not try to take it out yourself. You might cause more damage than good to your macbook.

It sounds as if you downloaded Adobe Acrobat Pro. If you did, uninstall it. Then repair Adobe Reader.
The free Acrobat account has no connection to any of this. -

Sournds that way however you should take it to your local Apple Store or AASP to be professionaly diagnosed.

I am very happy to report that my server connection tech, which I called via landline, informed me to : 1. Open Tools 2. Scan down to Clear Recent History 3. Delete All. That was it! Unbelievable! Six hours of searching through the Windows catagories. I checked the results on an internet site, and viola! It was gone! Mozilla Firefox seems to remember the usernames and passwords irregardless of the option window that asks if you if want it to remember the user and password. I finally got in touch with my friend and he said he did not answer yes to the window, even though he was aware of it. No damage. I surely do appreciate everyones' concern in this, now what seems to be, a very simple solution. Cudos to Firefox! Thank-you! P.S. I now have to enter my information at the beginning of any password protected sites...no harm done! My friend is now condemned to the 'user account' site! lol...

Need help re-synching iPods with new computer and getting iTunes to recognize our iPods (it doesn't even recognize them when they're plugged in).
Hubby wiped my harddrive for me, so now I need to get everything back in proper places. I'm using windows XP and installed iTunes once again (I believe it's version 8). I also installed all of my iTunes songs. Now I need to know where to go from here. We have 3 iPods and I need to get them all synched once again. I know how to create different libraries for each of us, but I can't figure out how to get our songs back into our iTunes libraries. When I open iTunes and plug in an iPod, iTunes doesn't even show that an iPod is plugged in.
What do I do now to get each of our iPods synched with our own libraries?

Okay, now how do I synch all of our ipods with our individual libraries (I don't want all of my kids' songs and vice versa)? We each have hundreds of songs on our ipods that we don't want to lose.

I tried to restore my iphone 5s but it shut off during the restore and wont turn back on I tried reseting it with the home and power button but it doesnt work and I tried connecting it to itunes but it doesnt show up

Need help, trying to print strings backwards while ignoring certain things.

What's messing me up is the fact that whenever I try to enter words into the program, printing append only repeat EVERY occurance of statement. For example, say I type in "Ham with gravy." I get "maH htiwmaH yvarghtiwmaH".
That's not what I want. Also, I don't know how to make the entire array of ignore available to the program, anyway to do that?Wow. What's with the hostility? The only remaining problem, which I am about to restate if you are still unclear of it, is that the noprint String contents are ignored but not printed in the original position. If you are still having trouble understanding what I am talking about then let me show what I got by running the program.

I may be less than careful with my choice of words concerning Java but I do understand enough code to know the inner workings of a typical program, so please refrain from calling me ignorant or any variant of this in the future.
I merely asked for help from general populous, do not think I owe you any particular praise for your code even if I find it is not exactly what I desired. I may be new to java but I am not new the message boards. With that said I find your response awfully rude and ask if you to refrain from do so in the future. I'm assuming you are an adult so act least act like someone with a bit of civility. If you were so committed to believing your code was the de facto solution to this problem then you could have simply asked why I say what I said, if had done so and shown me the error of my statement I would have not taken offense. Instead you choose to throw a fit and deleted your code. I do not know if you are like this around other board members but you should at least show courtesy to all members of this forum regardless of their time here.
With that said, I think I've all ready found a solution to this problem I've had. I'll just tell the program to simply count over the position the character is in. That way it will stay in the same position. -
Can someone help me see my pictures again in iphoto? 3 weeks ago while uploading a video from iphoto to Facebook, my events thumbnails all disappeared and were replaced by black squares - the event names and number of pics in each remain but when I click on the event, I only get squares where the pics should be - when I click those squares, I get a square with a triangle and an exclamation mark in middle.
Apple had emailed me about defective disks in iMacs so I took mine to the Apple Store and they replaced my HD then reinstalled from my backup via Time Machine - I still cannot see my pics! I tried to reinstall from an earlier Time Machine date - that copied everything and now my HD has double the amount of data but I still cannot see my pictures!
I would be thankful for any guidance on how to retrieve my pictures...

Help! Blinking folder with question mark and Mac Logo
Out of nowhere when I turned on my Powerbook G4 laptop the other day, the sound chimed like it was turning on, however instead of loading up, I saw a blank screen with a little file folder in the middle and the icon on the folder changed from a question mark to the mac logo back and forth. I have no idea what to do here. Help please!

I already tried rebooting, taking out the battery and putting it back in. Nothing has worked so far.Not from doing what I've suggested. The computer has basic instructions on the chip which tell it what to do next after you press start - i.e. start OSX from a particular place on the hard drive. Hopefully, what I've suggested will enable the machine to do that and wall will be well
It is possible that your hard-drive has failed or is about to fail - I advise as soon as you can get the machine started to back-everything up.
If it does not start, you may have a hard drive failure. In which case you can try several tools which may manage to get the drive back up, or at least recover the data. If you are near an Apple Store, you could go in and see if they can start the machine from a Firewire External drive with OS X on it - they may be able to see some of the data and copy it for you.
But try what I suggested first and let's see what the issues really are before going into disaster mode
