Help! Trying to set Parental Restrictions

I am trying to set some parental restrictions on my sons ipod touch and it is asking for a passcode.  I have never set up a passcode for Restrictions before so I don't know it.  It has locked me out b/c I don't know what the Passcode is.  He certainly has not set up the passcode under Restrictions.  I'm afraid to restore b/c he has a ton of music/movies/apps and he will KILL me if I lose any of his "stuff". Help!

you can just sync with itunes before you restore that will save all of his stuff.

How do I set my phone number as my imessage. I've tried resetting my phone and it still didn't work.

iOS: Troubleshooting FaceTime and iMessage activation
    Symptoms
Learn to resolve issues with activating FaceTime and iMessage on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
    Resolution
iPhone automatically registers your phone number for use with FaceTime and iMessage.
To use FaceTime with your Apple ID, navigate to Settings > FaceTime and tap "Use your Apple ID for FaceTime."
To use iMessage with your Apple ID, navigate to Settings > Messages > Receive At and tap "Use your Apple ID for iMessage."
When you enable FaceTime or iMessage with an iPad or iPod touch, you need to enter a valid Apple ID and password. Other users will be able to contact you on FaceTime and iMessage using this email address. If you see "Waiting for Activation", "Activation unsuccessful", or "An error occurred during activation"
These messages occur when your iPhone is trying to activate your phone number with iMessage or FaceTime. To resolve these status messages, follow these steps. After each step, turn FaceTime and iMessage off and on again in Settings > Messages and Settings > FaceTime.
Update to the latest version of iOS.
Make sure that you have a cellular network connection with your cellular provider. You need a cellular network connection to activate iMessage and FaceTime with your iPhone phone number.
Go to www.apple.com in Safari to make sure that you have a data connection. You need a data connection to activate iMessage and FaceTime with your iPhone phone number.
Make sure that you can send and receive SMS. You need a valid SMS messaging plan to activate FaceTime and iMessage.
Make sure that FaceTime hasn't been restricted: tap Settings > General > Restrictions > FaceTime.
Set iPhone to the correct time zone: tap Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: If Set Automatically is on but the incorrect time zone appears, turn Set Automatically off and choose the correct time zone, date, and time.
Contact your carrier to verify that there are no restrictions, blocks, or filters on text messages. Restrictions, blocks, or filters on text messaging will prevent iMessage and FaceTime registration from completing.
If "Waiting for Activation" still appears after you perform these steps, turn FaceTime and iMessage off and on in Settings > Messages and Settings > FaceTime. You may need to wait up to 24 hours to complete activation. Most attempts will take less than an hour, but some attempts may take up to 24 hours. If your issue isn't resolved after 24 hours, please contact Apple for assistance. If you've recently performed a remote wipe on your iPhone, wait 24 hours from the time you performed the remote wipe, and then turn iMessage off then back on.You can still activate iMessage and FaceTime with your Apple ID when these status messages appear. You can see that you've activated FaceTime and iMessage with your Apple ID by tapping:
Settings > FaceTime > You can be reached by FaceTime at:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You can be reached by iMessage at:

  • HT201320 Help trying to set up my wanadoo email account on my iPhone

Help! Not a clue how to set up my wanado email account on my iphone5

You have an email provider. This is not Thunderbird. You access the email account that you have with your provider on devices like phones and computers using an email client software. You setup the client software with the details for your provider like server names and ports. Your phone should have come with an email client software installed. Use that to check your email.
Thunderbird has nothing to do with checking your email on your phone.
You can always use your providers web mail account and log into that using a browser like Firefox or Chrome. Then there is no need for email client software.

  • [SOLVED] Help, trying to set up LVM

I am using the Wiki (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Lvm#Partition_disks) on an existing install. Here are the drives and partitions currently:
    40gb IDE
    - 5gb = mysql database
    - 35gb = mythrecordings
    320gb SATA
    - 10gb = /
    - 15gb = /home
    - 3gb = swap
    - 280gb = mythrecordings
    500gb SATA
    - all one partition
    1. This part at "Partition Disks" (link above) confuses me:
Next you need to create a partition for LVM. Its filesystem type should be 'Linux LVM', so use a partition id 0x8e (filesystem type: 8e).
I don't understand that part, looking in Gparted I don't see any option to format to a "8e" filesystem, same with cfdisk
    2. It recommends to have boot on a partition outside of LVM, so would I leave one tiny partition on one of the disks and just put /boot in there?
Thanks very much for any help

    Thanks Berticus!
I'm wondering too, it doesn't mention in the Wiki, but when I convert a partition with data on it to the LVM in cfdisk, will I lose the data (it formats)??
EDIT: Nevermind, saw that I must create new FS after I've partitionted to LVM

  • Setting Access Restrictions

I have a WRT54GS router and I'm trying to set internet restrictions on it.
The problem is.... when I set it to deny access from 11pm - 11:55pm, everything works fine, but when I try to set it to deny from 11pm - 6am, it says that I must enter a higher value for the second time slot, not a lower one (6am).
And when I set it to "allow" access between 6am and 11pm, it doesn't allow access during those times at all.

Access restriction cannot run past Midnight.   Make 2 entries for longer times, for example enter 9pm to 6am restriction as:
    9:00 pm to 11:59 p.m.
    12:01 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.

  • Trying to set up daughter's e-mail - please help!

I set up an AOL e-mail account for my daughter. I have been trying to set it up on her ipod touch and for some reason it doesn't recognize her user name or password. Last week, all was fine. She could access her e-mail for about one day with out issues. But ever since then, we've gotten an error message. I've tried deleting the account & setting it up a new. I powered down the touch - and re-synced it. Still I get "The user name or password for "imap.aol.com" is incorrect". I know it's correct because I logged into AOL after it told me that using the same information & got on OK.
Can someone please help me? Does this have something to do with the fact she has a Kids AOL account? Her e-mail suffix is the same as any other aol account.
    Thanks -
    Robin

I just spoke with someone from AOL tonight for over 1 hour trying to work this out. Finally he realized it was an aol kids account which I told him several times. He said those accounts can not work on other devices. Which is what I figured. I filled out a comment to AOL stating that they should have this as an option under the parental controls to allow use on ipods. So hopefully AOL will consider this change in policy. I wish I knew this before we opened the account because I probably would have adjusted her age!

    Tiger Requirements...
To use Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, your Macintosh needs:
        * A PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor
        * Built-in FireWire
        * At least 256 MB of RAM (I recommend 1GB minimum)
        * DVD drive (DVD-ROM), Combo (CD-RW/DVD-ROM) or SuperDrive (DVD-R) for installation
        * At least 3 GB of free disk space; 4 GB if you install the XCode 2 Developer Tools  (I recommend 20GB minimum)

Hi, I hope someone can help.... When I open a new user account, which I want to set parental control on, the screen keeps freezing once the account is open. The wee rainbow circle appears and I can't do anything. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks

Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
Report any errors it found for Disk Repair, don't need the ones for Permissions Repair.
Try it again & see if anything changed, but have Activity Monitor open & Show All Processes & sorted on CPU%, also have Console open if we can... maybe not when switching, but we'll see.
Does this happen if you just try to create a new admin user???

I am trying to set up my new Iphone 4 and download apps.  I made an Apple Id which is all good.  But when I try and enter in my credit card info it keeps asking for my Zip code and state.  I live in Canada not US.  I changed the phone to Canadian but it still keeps asking for it and won't let me put in my right information which in turn won't let me download any apps.  Can anyone help?

Postal & Zip codes are same.  Just enter postal code without space.  It will accept.
